senior awards ceremony so I'm just going to get started and say the first individual that we're going to call up and honor is this year's valedictorian that that designation is for the student that's rank number one and pcti it is my honor to bring up Hannah [Music] IGN all right next up is our second rank student again this is not easy to do for these individuals our class of 2024 salad torian uh Ana [Music] [Music] Hussein okay next up is the principal's leadership award so it's not easy to pick amongst such talented group and dedicated student body um this year I gave it a lot of thought and I really thought about you know who exemplifies leadership inside the classroom outside the classroom and over this big giant campus the two individuals that I'm going to acknowledge today are our brothers they're twins uh the D Brothers Tre sea and [Applause] Trayvon although they couldn't be here this evening because they had other commitments uh that took some precedent um do want to just speak about both of them these individuals I actually knew before coming to pcti um when I was an assistant principal I had one of them in my school prior to coming and I always used to tell them every single day listen just keep working hard whatever you're going to do do it with uh Grace and and dedicate all your efforts to it and then I find out I'm coming here and and they're both coming here as well so we've been together for a little while uh they exemplified uh the Bulldog character in our hallways in the class room and on the football field and whatever they did They Carried themselves uh with extreme High character um and on all they although they can't be here tonight I do want to acknowledge both of them for all their hard work and dedication while they've been here the last four years so once again thank you all right I'm gonna take uh a brief pause to actually um acknowledge uh two individuals we're going to call one up every year we have new Jersey selects what we call the governor's educator and teacher of the year award this year it's an honor to bring up our Teacher of the Year Caitlyn [Applause] [Music] D good evening it's an immense honor and a privilege to present the Educator's choice award tonight this award is given to a student who embodies the essence of Excellence dedication and passion and I can think of no one more deserving than Britney Roman I had the pleasure of having Britney in my AP Biology class last year where she truly stood out for her academic Brilliance impressive GPA and remarkable character and dedication uh Britney's not just an exceptional student academically she's a beacon of involvement in leadership she's in a ton of activities at the school and also plays huge roles in um um NJ Roc and she also has a great Passion with art which she would bring into our classroom which was a lot of fun to see and I still have the postcard you got me from your vacations that had great art on it but also had to do it science and it stays in my classroom [Applause] [Music] okay it's an honor to present the next presenter which is our 2024 pcti Ed specialist of the Year miss Al Lima pup hello good evening everyone I can't believe they're allowing me to use a microphone tonight but it's great to see you all out there uh so as the pcti educational specialist of the year I was asked to select an outstanding student who I've watched grow over the last four years don't look at me I'm getting emotional um she came into my office at the end of her sophomore year and at the end of the meeting she's like oh wow I wish I would have come here a lot more and then that happened over the next um couple of years she's kind caring intrinsically motivated resilient um and she's involved in everything I don't even know how she has time to survive and breathe and be as lovely as she is this year she EXP exp erience a loss of someone very important to her and despite this loss she has continued to shine I'm excited that her future plans involve working with children because she can and will help mold and motivate the young minds of Tomorrow the population that she will serve will be very lucky to be in her orbit just as I am lucky to be in her orbit now and I am proud to give this award to someone who will continue to work hard and deserves it all and I hope that she gets everything that she wants and needs this goes to Jayla Freedman w [Music] all right so we're going to take a brief pause on the agenda something that's not on there because I do want to take a moment to acknowledge somebody who's been very important and integral uh these last four years so four years ago uh class of 2024 showed up we had a lot of new students and new parents and one parent in particular stepped up and really dedicated herself to poor I don't know Timeless efforts um to make sure that the class and the school Community had everything they want so I would like to acknowledge to outstanding seniors pursuing further education have excelled in school and primarily whose parents are four-year paid members of the ptso who have shown an amazing support of the ptsl fundraising efforts which supports the ptsl senior scholarship fund making the presentation is Dria labasco pcti ptso president Diana C labosco former pctvs CH Chief School administrator and Sonia Torres parent [Music] leison thank you very much um as Mr bchi said the ptso awards really are for not only you seniors but also for the parents who have supported the ptso over the past four years uh thanks to all of you we have grown EXP expid entially and hopefully will continue raising money to help honor our students as we go forward but not only has the ptso raised fundraising money through parent participation teacher participation and of course District support but we also have been honored by a family the Harris family who has personally donated to the honor the trades award for the past two years this year included and many years to come so before we go through the ptso awards I'd like to introduce Mr David Harris thank you [Applause] daa so tonight we're going to present 14 students with a $1,500 award I'd like to tell you about the name honor the trades environmental award the the name was derived the the first half of the name came about when I thought about my son Nate he is a senior here at pcti and I really pushed him into the trades program into the school of construction I did that because he's very smart and unlike his father he's also very good with his hands so he went through the cycle and he ended up really uh loving Plumbing he he loved Mr G and he chose plumbing and and when I asked him to is if that's what he was going to go with he was a little bit hesitant and I asked him why and he said you know people kind of look down on the trades and I was a little bit surprised about that but he stuck it out he chose Plumbing he went through it and now when I see an adult ask him hey what are you doing at pcti he he puts his shoulders back he looks them in the eye and he says I'm a plumbing major in the school of construction technology and he is proud of what he's doing and he should be the trades are extremely important so the second half of this award is an environmental award and this may sound strange but I don't really consider myself an environmentalist I remember when recycling became a thing and I said to my wife she forced me to recycle and I was like so now we have to put garbage in two bins instead of one it doesn't really make sense to me but we evolve we evolve and I'll tell you a quick story about how how I evolved so I'm in the wholesale baking business and baking requires lots of Commercial Refrigeration we had about 15 of these little condenser units and they were always breaking and always leaking and they cost about $25,000 a piece and you would just replace them well the refrigeration contractor came to me and he said a after one had broken and he said to me you know you can fix this problem and it's going to cost you a lot of money and I said how how much is a lot and he said it's going to cost you a million dollars I said well I'm not a millionaire so that's not happening and he said well keep doing what you're doing because you're really contributing to the whole in NE ozone layer layer with all the leaks of refrigerant that you you have going here so I felt guilty about that what's the point of succeeding in business if you're leaving behind a polluted world for your kids there is no point so he talked me into it a refrigeration contractor T talked me into it I'm extremely lucky that he did because after that what happened was I didn't anticipate this but customers would say to me what's your Environmental Policy I didn't have one but now I had one because this Refrigeration contractor forced me into a cleaner refrigerant that doesn't leak and I didn't stop there I installed solar panels and other things so I evolved as person I evolved to become an environmentalist being environmentalist an environmentalist means making money so I'm hoping that that just like that Refrigeration contractor did for me that this sets you off on a path much earlier to become an environmentalist in your career so let's get you started and our first uh award recipient Alfredo [Applause] Gonzalez Roger [Applause] seong Salma Garcia Jose [Music] kada Jorge Melendez Jayla Mendes Jack [Applause] Stewart Jordan Austin Sophia San asses Kaden Rex Brandon pahan Carlos Gallo John Aon angel perz [Music] thank you Harris family the ptso doesn't end there with private donations I'd next like to introduce former Chief school superintendent Diana leosco who truly bleeds blue for the Bulldogs she's not only uh spent her career here um nurturing the school and the students but she is also now a proud Bulldog Grandma so with that Diana C [Applause] [Music] Laos thank you and uh my grandson's right in the front row there he's so cute anyway I just like to say congratul ations uh and I applaud all of our seniors here on the stage you know you've worked so hard over the past four years and your accomplishments are being realized tonight as you receive foundation and financial scholarships that will assist you in reaching your goals but I'd also like to congratulate the families out there for choosing pay County Tech for your child because I think that you realize that this is a wonderful window of opportunity and that that they have gained so much by attending the school so I think that the young people on this stage should thank their families for saying put your application in and you're going to go to pcti congratulations to the families but I have to tell you that the executive committee for the ptso has worked so hard every one of them to get scholarships for these uh students up here so uh I think we just just want to give them another round of applause for all the hard work that they've put in and I'm pleased to uh personally award scholarships to the following students Briana Bragg [Music] Thomas [Music] [Applause] Winkler summer Rodriguez and Kira Perez [Music] [Applause] thank you very much uh the next two awards are courtesy of our amazing corporate Partners Chick-fil-A of Wayne town Town Center in in Wayne um seniors Chick-fil-A yesterday at the picnic everybody yes yes all right Chick-fil-A worked with both the pcti and the DCL STEM Academy ptso this year on Spirit nights and so the next two awards are a result of that but they didn't stop there they partnered with our senior class advisers to help bring um a fun Chick-fil-A lunch to the students for their senior picnic and then they didn't stop there they handed out or gave to the district a uh sandwich gift card for every teacher in the district both at pcti and DCL stem for teacher appreciation week and then they didn't stop there the Chick-fil-A uh the Chick-fil-A franchise in Wayne is also donated a gift card for a Chick-fil-A Sandwich to every graduating senior of both pcti and DCL stem [Applause] so you you guys will get that in uh I think next week but um we can't particular the first three will be for memories of my family the first one that I would like to present is for the Pella family scholarship to an individual who now will be pursuing a career in baking and pastry because that's what my mother and my mother's entire family was known for and anybody that knows me that's what I'm known for so I enjoy it and I wanted to pass the tradition on to someone who wants to pursue a career in baking and pastry and this beautiful young lady is Christine Medina [Music] [Applause] [Music] the second scholarship is in honor of My Father Peter buffer DC who was a refrigeration electrical repair man his entire life and very good at it he enjoyed it and I'm proud to present this award this year to a young man who will be pursuing a career in electrical trade and be working for the Pake Valley commission which I think is quite an honor so Alex Ramirez please come [Music] [Applause] [Music] forward this next one is in honor of really a soul and love of my life Mr Robert Thomas who was a former teacher here and who actually and truly believed in education but what most people didn't know is that he loved art and he could draw and as I went through so many things in this past year after losing him I saw so many cartoons and character all kinds of things that he drew and I decided last year in his honor and I going to continue it on as long as I can for a scholarship for someone who really has the talent but this year in particular it was kind of funny in selecting this person because when I asked the the uh shop teacher he recommended the the young lady immediately but he said I have to tell you she's going to forom University and will be pursuing social science and I knew that was Bob telling me this has got to go to her because he was a history teacher and so and he loved to draw so Melanie marachel please come forward [Applause] [Music] the next awards are under the title little angels as many of you see I wear these always because I believe that we each have an angel watching over us and I know know that that's true and in the course of life I think that the most important thing that one can do is to be kind and to pay it forward whenever kindness is given to you so my life has been that way and I'd like to now pass this on to other students and children here so that they too can now pass it on when the day comes for them so these students I interviewed more than 15 and I made a selection um here we have uh five here and four tomorrow and these will be to individuals who have really demonstrated community service at the utmost and it was very interesting to meet each one of them and I would like to certainly congratulate them and let you you and all of the audience know how proud I am of you because the most important thing we can do for each other is to be kind so I'd like to first present this to Hannah Suarez [Music] the second one is Laura [Music] kubaka I hope I say this right a weeks she was [Music] Joseph Strauss [Music] and the last one is actually special as Mr bchi mentioned to I spent most of my life past actual 35 years in working towards the Vietnam memorial and working with our veterans in the Patriotic Community here at pctvs and across the years over 30 now I realized I've been working with the boy State and girl State programs which is a leadership program through the American Legion and auxiliary and this year I decided to to present an award to an individual who went to boy State and certainly exemplified the characteristics of leadership as he did in his senior year and
