to the draw for the 2024 sport Sports Direct men's Fai cup quarterfinals it was an exciting weekend last some shocks some surprises some great play we'll remind ourselves of what happened in just a moment but just to let you know you can already go and buy your tickets for the upcoming Sports Direct fi Cup Final taking place at the Aviva just go to fi. ticks now to make the draw today we're joined by Fai president Paul Cook and New Republic of Ireland senior men's team manager Heimer H Grimson and we'll have a chat with Heimer in a little bit of a while the draw to come but first let's get a reminder of what happened over the weekend the ball Adam just has to be careful now he only get a yellow card there so needs to be careful there the tack oh and that's a great goal there by Wexford low block and again great Roll by C the boss a o'ri has scored for shelburn on his debut tonight uh an experimental one last time out early chance here for L the K looks for a hand ball in the Box on hand gets a shot is dispatched away it's dispatched by Lee deit and inside the opening minute here on 44 seconds in fact Lee De is given the homeside the lead take the pressure off give themselves a little bit of a breather ghetto field and win a few free kicks but that's as we said what you come up against when you're playing Premier Division s and here comes this transfer Pierro he's gotten his goal the assist from James Taylor deliver towards the back post headed Away by amond ball comes back in oh it's in the back of the [Applause] net Peter McGregor has got [Applause] there Conor comes in and it's there for Derry City and it's the substitute Sam Todd has put the Candy Stripes [Music] ahead oh that's a good effort oh that goes in Oran with the goal to put UCD ahead that's a big moment in the game yeah it's a wonderful wonderful strike and he he looked the biggest attack and TR there in extra time for Bohemian so he'll be feeling confident but I think Aron San will be feeling confident with his performance right down the middle here and yeah and bothans go through and that's it and it's game over and uh Bohemians have have won the yeah have won and uh ker FC have gone out and well dea McDade held his nerve and the kingdom were denied a crown in glory but what a performance they put in over the weekend sadly for them though they are not in the draw for the sports direct men's Fai cup quarter finals just to remind you of the procedure uh eight teams will be drawn to face each other in the quarterfinal ties to be played the week ending September 17th now before we do the draw and remind you of the teams in it let's have a chat with New Republic of Ireland men's team manager himer H Grimson himer how are you good happy to be here good good how are you settling into life in Ireland slowly but still hopefully and uh no everybody has been really helpful good people Irish yeah certainly we like to think so anyway you've got to a few League of Ireland uh games what have you made of the standard what have you made of the whole thing well first of all it's it's great atmosphere in the games that that's what what's a stand out for me um no I've seen maybe too few still but planning to planning to do more of it but been enjoyful I've been watching the teams especially playing the Europa Europa leagues uh and it's impressive and might might even change the culture in in the Irish football if they if they qualify for the group stages yeah certainly would be a big boost um you have been here before as a manager managing in European competition sadly not very good memories uh result wise you took ibv to take on same Pats but uh I know that you kind of got a good insight into Irish football then and uh you you you certainly enjoyed being around it and you'll obviously get to do it a bit more now yeah it was it was um my first game G as a coach abroad yeah so official game was against St Pats when I came I thought it was really a big stadium for a coach from my community it was I come from a really small community so it was kind of a big Stadium played some big ones since then but it was a really good memory lost they were we were knocked out by by St PS but but it was a it was a pleasant to come memory to come here and and play really good like I said good environment yeah H hostile environment hostile but friendly afterwards uh you've got some big games coming up with the Republic of Ireland I I imagine you're just Keen to get into it now and and get going yeah yeah it's been quite busy weeks since since I took over a lot of things to to get to know all the players playing uh they're spread all over so it's there always one or two players maximum in each team so it's a lot of games to watch uh that's my priority at the moment to to look at the the score that is going to represent Ireland against England and Greece there's a lot of hype around the England game but for me the more important game is the Greece game yeah maybe may be strange to say it but that's uh that's a game Ireland lost two times against them in in the Euro so we need to do better in in in those matches against them okay well the very best of luck I with everything that is to come just to remind you uh four quarterfinals eight teams involved in the draw let's have a look actually at the teams that are in the draw just to remind you who is involved still in the sports direct men's Fai cup at Lone toown Bohemians Derry City dra United shelburn treaty United UCD and Wexford so those are the teams in the draw Paul Cook fi president and himer H Grimson public of manager will do the draw Paul you will uh draw out the first teams and they will be at home for these Ties on the weekending September 15th so who's out of the well I was going to say hat but the trophy first [Music] UCD UCD will be at home and who will UCD play maybe there was a a bit of an omen in having Robbie Gaffney of UCD here a couple of weeks ago for one of the draws could it be ucd's year again let's see who they will face to try and get to the semi-finals Bohemians Bohemians so a Dublin Derby who's out next this team will play at home in the quarterfinals at Longtown at Lone toown whose women's team are the current Champions they overcame Waterford at the weekend who will they play at home which is a huge Advantage at this stage of the competition draw draw United who overcame Wilton at the weekend and whose form has certainly upturned over the last couple of weeks results wise so here we go the third quarterfinal tie Wexford Wexford who will be at home so all three first division teams drawn out so far at home for the quarterfinals as they try and make the semi-final we will remind you of the fixures at the end it's an all first division tie treaty United of limr who overcame another limmer team Pike Rovers at the weekend so we now know who'll face each other but who'll be at home and who'll be away that's the business we still have to do it's Derry against shelburn or shelburn against Derry we're going to find out exactly what order that goes in who's at home this is huge darer at home darer at home a repeat of the cup final from a couple of years ago but shelburn and let's just confirm put the dots on the eyes and cross the te exactly let's confirm Shel w fear going anywhere that's for sure but if you were given the choice you'd rather be at home but shelburn have not been given the choice and they are away from home that's quite the draw gentlemen Paul and himer thank you very much so let's just give you a reminder of who plays who and who's at home in the sports direct men's fi cup quarterfinals these games taking place on the weekend of September 15th UCD against B Wexford at home to treaty Aton at home to Dr United and der City at home to shelburn shelburn fans Derry City fans what are you making of that one how about Wexford and treaty fans two first division teams coming together surely you each fanc see your chances UCD at home to B they went to slly go on one so no reason why they can't repeat the trick against Bose who won on penalties against Kerry and at Lone Town taking on Dr Unitus D Unitus uh I remember going to their Cup Final was at 06 against Cork City that they won in L down Road what an atmosphere that was what a day that was was it 05 or 06 I can't quite remember mid90s at some stage anyway they'll be looking to relive those kind of memories looking to do it all over again this year but there's a long road to travel the road takes them to atlon next so there we go there is the ties to be played the weekending Sunday September 15th the ties for the sports direct men's Fai cup quarterfinals don't forget if you want to plan ahead so you can buy your tickets now on fi. e/ tickets so that concludes the draw for the sports direct men's FA Cup quarterfinals thank you for watching and the very best of luck to your team in the last days
