[Music] Jesus Royals Yankees Angels twins the Padre's Mariners and Best Bets coming in Brewers Giants Rockies and tigers that's what's coming your way here on wager talk today's first pitch who's breaking it down with me I'm Dan Alexander and joining me ran power Adam trigger happy to have you guys in the saddle Bry here doing his best uh the Hamburglar uh impression with your with your stripes that you got going there I like it I like it if anyone could pull it off Hey by the end of the show you get a couple picks right you might be mayor MC cheese instead of the hamburger we'll find out BP all the McDonald's references uh uh BP let's get right into it though I'll I'll I'll refrain from uh from poking fun at you uh until later in the program Royals Yankees is the game that you have tabbed here you look at the Royals and two more wins for them and they're going to lock in a winning season no matter what happens and that would be the first time they do so in almost a decade the last time they did was when they went and won the World Series with 2015 that was so do you think it uh they get closer to that you know they inch closer split that in half they only need one more win or do we have a bounce back coming from the Yankees who uh what what a gem pitched by Lugo yesterday 5 nothing was the final bounce back for Yankees or we got the Royals inching closer to uh to that uh that winning record what do you say yeah that Lugo starts surprised me last night I think the Yankees are going to bounce back here Luis heel uh on the mound he's the key making his second start since returning from the iil my word if you missed heel last Friday at Wrigley Field you missed one heck of an outing he allowed just one hit over six shutout Innings seven strikeouts that was pretty good Cubs lineup too he was up against and I would argue Dan for this season he has been the Yankees most consistent starter you're talking about a guy with a 324 ra 116 Whip and I think he's going to have success here against a Royals lineup That typically sees its production fall off on the road something I've talked about all season but this home versus Road split when it comes to the Royals strikeout rate is really crazy at home they strike out at the lowest rate of in all of baseball on the road they strike out at the fifth highest rate Plus on the road they draw the second lowest rate of walks so uh I think heel with heel on the mound the Yankees are going to bounce back I know they didn't score any runs last night which is problematic uh they struck out a season High 14 times as well didn't walk a single time and Cole Reagan I've said it before he's the one Royals starter that I like he's probably been their most effective starter but reagin has made it past the fifth Dan just once in his last four starts that opens it up for a Royals bullpen that I just don't think is very good I like the Yankees first five I mentioned that this morning on the power five we talked about Yankees full game on the morning wager I just think it's a big Bullpen Edge for the Yankees and that might be in the late Innings where they put this game to bed the Yankees is how I would play this one bounceback Yankees spot says our man Brian power W.B slbp is where you can find him at trig you want to talk one of these later games Angels twins uh twins finally got off the snide it was a big way that they did it yesterday 105 the win sna that four game losing streak um but yesterday tra I mean the story sure might be the bounceback it was the runs that came you could have doubled the total yesterday and you almost still would have went over now we're looking at a zabbi and kokanovic matchup on the mound here tonight I think we could expect some more runs with that uh quality starting pitching that we're going to be seeing tonight what say you Tre yeah I mean the real story Dan is the rally sausage which is back in the Dugout and instantly the twins are scoring um 10 runs yesterday which was more than double what they had in their previous four games during that sort of sort of losing streak they had four runs uh in four games was a four- game losing streak uh going into yesterday so uh that's obviously encouraging as we talk about runs here I do like the over eight and a half in this game uh even at a little bit of a ju a little bit of juice minus 125 I still think that would be the right play if you're going to get involved with angels twins uh you're going to get Royce Lewis back in the lineup he got a needed day off uh had probably he's probably in the worst slump of his career right now um he even kind of like went on record talking about how he's he's hasn't really faced this type of adversity before um but you like you know guys kind of you know get a day off and then come back from that I think is typically a a good thing usually and I think he's got a favorable matchup here uh which I'll get to in a minute we'll start with zebie Matthews he gets to start for the twins um you know this is a guy I followed through the ranks this year he started at single a uh he he's one of kind of many at this point this is like the norm now in um Major League Baseball if you're if you're a stud Prospect and you pitch well at the lower levels I mean they are FASTT tracking you to the big leagues at this point uh and especially on a team like the twins who who's had pitchers dropped like flies right like they've got Festa in there as a rookie zebie Matthews as a rookie like they they've had uh you know a couple of different rookie arms in their rotation this year uh but the thing that i' I've kind of noticed with Matthews ever since he got to tripet where he only made four starts for being before being called up is his success at the lower levels of the miners was predicated on him just pounding the Zone with strikes uh walked virtually no one and at single a and double A you're going to get a lot of outs doing that you're G to get swing and Miss on your out pitches because guys are just not as experienced hitters he got to Triple A he got rocked by Omaha and then kind of had a good start came up but but he's really kind of struggled since and to me it's because he just he he's too much out over the plate he hasn't really figured out how to you know have command within the zone and in The Bigs you you can't do that so that that's going to create two things here guys one even if he pitches well he's probably I feel like he doesn't go past five innings he really hasn't got past five in a major league game yet but two he's probably gonna give up something and when you look at this game the way it's priced the twins a $2 favorite the twins breaking out offensively last night if the angel contribute here I think there's a good chance uh that that it's going to go over and of course just one more thing about Matthews his last four starts 8.42 erra and he's given up 19 hits and 13 runs in seven Innings over those last two starts so too much out over the plate and even the angels a dreadful team like the angels can can do something with that now on the other side uh Co Kos hanowitz I I Dan you nailed the pronunciation that that was impressive I I I don't have that down yet but uh th this dude gives up a ton of contact he's a guy he's another guy he jumped right from double A to The Bigs seven starts like his numbers aren't terrible overall but he he's giving up a 315 opponent a batting average against he really doesn't strike anyone out so he's kind of a ticking time bomb at to get like blown up at the big league level and who better to do it than the twins who just broke out from a like major Collective slum right yesterday was kind of like the breakout of a of a very long slump for what is a pretty good twins offense and now you get Roy Lewis back in the lineup maybe you know this seems like a good matchup for him uh against the lefties so I think you're going to get runs from the twins here I think the Angels do contribute the other area the twins really struggle is Middle relief they don't have a ton of middle relief so those middle Innings like if if zebi even if he gives you four or five good Innings you're still going to have to figure out the sixth the seventh and even you know before you get the ball to Durant at end and then of course if the twins have a lead they're definitely not going to use Jax or Durant because there isn't many other high leverage arms so one way or another this one feels like runs similar to last night I wouldn't be surprised to here big history made last night with Manny Machado now the home run leader for the San Diego Padres passing uh Nate Colbert in that one um with his uh what was it uh 164th long ball yesterday so uh you know maybe a little bit of a let down spot after a fun game yesterday for them Brian woo gonna be on the mound for the Mariners anything stand out to you in the 940 start here Brian uh look I I passed on this game because last night uh I made the mistake of taking the Mariners uh it was a very disappointing loss I thought it was a great price I thought it was a great price they oh they're making fun of me the headphones Dan but check this out okay why I did I you know UD darish was the guy I had faded his first start back I had taken the over in his first start back I expected him not to be very good sure enough things get off to a good start the Mariners put two quick runs on the board I'm like all right here we go what did I say in my write up Dan George kiry doesn't give up home runs at home what did George Kirby do last night he gave up two home runs and that's why Seattle lost the game the Mariners offense remains problematic obviously uh you know I think trig feels this way as well San Diego is a team very live to win the national league pennant now the the thing here why I don't want to go the other way is is Brian woo we've talked about him all year is just Sensational as are all these Seattle pitchers at home Michael King's been pretty good too maybe if you're looking for anything I mean the the totals low but I don't I would not imagine we're going to get another high-scoring game here in Seattle obviously um you know run suppression you know the Mariners are the best at it when it comes uh at home no team they they allow a half run per game fewer than every other team at home this season so maybe you try to get creative and bet against one of these offenses because I like these two starters bullpens are good as well um and and this Mariners offense has proven time and time again that it will let you down uh when you need them to come through and you got to have a sneak preview as well of what it sounds like when Brian power cashes a 5center and he gives himself a little Brian woo during the breakdown of his own uh his own play there yes yes that is exactly what it sounds like there um trig feel free to add any thoughts on that one as it's a game that I'm sure people will have their interest on this evening wrapping up that two game set if you don't have anything on that one though would love to hear your thoughts on the Braves and the Nationals going tonight we've seen this total tick up a half Point open seven and a half looks like we're sitting at eight across the board as Fred and Irvin are taking on each other 645 eastern time to start in that one any thoughts for the braavos and the Nats yeah I have thoughts on both these I'll be real quick on Padre's Mariners I I did a Tik Tok video someone asked about this game yesterday and even though I I knew to not bet the Mariners because I haven't really done it in months I I think they're atrocious team I leaned toward the Mariners last night and of course they uh they lost the game which really is is not you know unsurprising at all at this point I'm not g to make that same mistake again I like king um so if if I if you absolutely forced me i' be on the Padres here but it's not something I'm going to play because I'm not going to like come back and then have the Mariners shove it in my face so lean Padres but again I it's a it's a weird series because the Padres are such a superior team like that you should be like looking at this minus 106 King on the mound and being like it's a no-brainer to take the Padre's similar to last night when they you know we're the we're the better team again um and I do think the Padre's are going to end up in the World Series this year I've been saying that for a couple of months now so not fading the Padre's at all the rest of the way that's a play on team in my opinion as far as and Nationals are concerned I did a video on Instagram yesterday for this game uh where I I gave out the under uh one of the teams cooperated the Braves didn't give up a single run but unfortunately McKenzie Gore gave up touchdowns and ended up being a 12 nothing Raves win I still think the Raves are extremely overrated which is I could only bet against the Braves at this point the schedule has fallen really nicely for them where they they kind of now had series against the Blue Jays the Nationals like they they're they're catching the you know some of the the Lesser teams at the right time um I I still think it's it's wild to lay two do on the road with this Braves team if you look at this lineup like the bottom it's five through nine are all like like 600 Ops guys it's just not a good lineup at all um you know the Nationals at they at least have upside like like they called up Dylan Cruz at this point you've got a very young lineup Cruz James Wood uh I I think Jose Tina's in there Andre chaparo like they it's a new sort of group of Nationals a very different team than what was on the field for the you know pretty much since August first right because chaparo came from Reno or the dond backs organization um Tina over from the Guardians so it this National scene the last couple months is completely different Dylan Cruz was down at Triple A until like a like a few few weeks ago so I definitely think there's upside with the gats I also like Irvin's like one of the guys that's starting to grow on me in this Nats rotation he had a really good start against the Braves earlier this year so I I Nats plus one and a half is on my short list I have not played it yet but I don't know if I will but definitely like one I've I've considered for today is taking that run with the home team Nashville's plus one and a half I at least think that this is going to be a better game than yesterday's and I wouldn't be surprised if the Nats won it looking towards a potential Nats W in the bounce back folks we have a terrific deal going right now over at wagertalk.com wt.net action both funny because the Mets can lose uh what is it like their first or second game in their last dozen and still be fighting for a wild card spot now they're sitting there tied with the braavos so uh you know this this series finale going at 307 today becomes all that more important each game is insanely important down the stretch here for the New York metropolitans it's mana and Francis going to be going in this one what's your thoughts in this one Brian well first Dan I I I absolutely have to bring up what happened last night because it finally happened David Peterson finally had a bad start I've been mentioning it on every show his expected erra and how nobody has a bigger difference between actual and expected area than Peterson he blows up finally gives up five runs Toronto who I gave on the power five yesterday uh was the correct side and they get it done on the power five this morning I gave out Mets team total under four and a half actually uh because the Mets are facing bow and France bow and Francis has been Sensational uh of late three runs or fewer and six consecutive starts three of those six starts he goes seven Innings and allows just one hit now the concern with betting the Mets team total under I understand is the Blue Jays bullpen is usually an adventure but the Mets have only scored what five runs in the first two games of the series they got a little lucky on Monday winning that game went Extra Innings getaway day maybe they're swinging a little more freely I don't I I think runs are gonna be Scara because Mana has been great you know Mark Zeno insults the man at his appearance all the time we know that but he's a great pitcher and I just think runs are going to be scarce in this game you got I mean these are two great I mean man when was last time Mana lost the Mets lost mana on the mound June so runs are probably scarce but I Bowen Francis has been absolutely tremendous and I don't think the the road team's putting up many runs in this game so I I said Mets team total under four and a half little juicy but I think it's it's worth it sure our friend over on Tik Tock M&M's is loving that uh you're also thinking there might be runs at a premium in that one he's looking towards the nerfy in that Mets game and he's also looking towards Francis going over his strikeout total so kind of aligning with the way that Brian power have theirs coming up Rockies Tigers we'll talk uh everyone wants to know about that game for sure uh and Brewers and Giants that's coming up in Best Bets but I have both you guys touch upon some of these early games for the live viewers trig we'll start with you and we'll get BP's thoughts on this one as well as the Pirates are going for the sweep nobody told the Pirates uh their their season is done apparently 12:35 this one going Marlins taking on the Pirates in a marquee match up both of these teams jockeying for position I kid of course a lot of unknowns though at least on the side of the Marlins as far as the pitching is concerned in this one falter going to be going for the Pirates what say you in this early game trig starting off the action in uh just about an hour from now yeah I mean if if the price was a little lower I would have definitely gave Marlins plus one and a half some consideration here um so they're going to start Jonathan Bermudas he's been okay like you know he was a guy that was kind of on my radar a little bit during his time in triple A um I thought he was like he was definitely above average for you know a AAA arm they kind of came up they brought him up and used him out of the bulp and I believe this will be his first career start so not major leue debut but but his first career um start in the big leagues today uh you know the Pirates have have probably seen very little of him um some of them might have ran into to him at the lower levels but haven't seen him yet in the big leagues and again his his his stuff is good enough where this isn't a Pirates lineup that I that I think is you know unbeatable by any means so you know just the unfamiliarity there and the fact that you know I think Bermudez probably is a little undervalued um based on what the number is now uh tilts me toward the Marlins the other thing is like bayy falter is a guy that I'm willing to play against like the Marlins lit him up in in the first I think you have to go back to literally the season opener or like the the first weekend of the Season he went you know he faced them uh got lit up this is a guy that spent most of his career in the NL East so they've seen him a bunch 5.73 RA in seven career appearances for falter against the Marlins so I mean I think you're crazy to lay a dollar minus 155 at this point with the Pirates uh these two teams are are are closer um in my opinion than maybe the standing suggests so I'd go Marlins plus one and a half here if it came down about 20 cents you'd probably see me add it but uh at minus 140 it'll remain a lean Alfred looking to maybe dip his toe with a little nerfy to start the day get the blood flow blowing I I like the uh the thought there Alfred kicking it off uh so uh for you BP anything in the marins and Pirates if not touch upon that other early game with a team that you know well the Guardians going against the white socks it's a team with all kinds of things to play for versus the team who is on the race to dropping 120 games rather quickly and uh they're going with Drew Martin on the mound find him on the daily Diamond no I'm I'm of course getting there uh but uh but either thoughts for you for these early games then we'll get the folks some Best Bets yeah yeah it's his his long long lost cousin uh going off on the mound today yeah look I'll take a for what it's worth I think Drew Martin might be a better better look than uh than the starting pitching I think they've lost all of his starts right uh I'm gonna take it a step further than trig with the Marlins I'm playing the Marlins on the money line here if this is a 3% play for me I I completely agree with what you you can't play the Pirates at this price and I'm glad that trick drummed up some Port some support for the Miami side because I had trouble doing that but I got lots of reasons to fade the Pirates here okay number one they've won three straight now that seems like an odd reason to want to fade a team they've only had one four game win streak since they started the year five and0 so I think it's a good time to step in and fade and trig talked about falter we have a fraud alert here Bernie maid off alert Dan because falter is three in overs last seven starts that that is so misleading he has gone over five innings just twice in that time 5.52 ER he actually has a 6.85 ER his last five starts and since he doesn't go long that's going to bring the Pirates awful Bullpen it's been a bottom five Bullpen all year the Marlins cannot possibly go 0 and seven against the Pirates this year can they so look give give me the pl the nice plus price on Miami uh as far as that Cleveland White Socks game yes the white socks are are on the precipice of History they are going to lose the most games in a single season in the modern era there's no way they're going 10- six the rest of the season to avoid the 60 uh the expansion Mets record I like the over in that game believe it or not the Guardians have put up five runs each of the first two games I don't think we should worry about them scoring it's uh Martin and and that terrible White Sox bullpen obviously the White Sox bullpen is where plus one and a half and unders go to die but Matthew Boyd for the Guardians I don't his career numbers against the white sock are bad and that Elite Guardian Bullpen saw heavy usage yesterday so we may not see some of their top guys I think the White Sox will be able to put a few runs on the board that's all we need from them so over there and by the way the Pirates went with a bullpen game yesterday so their Bullpen even more cooked than normal so that's another reason to fade them so bad bullpens my theme of that section Dan double game breakdown of the bad bullpens special I love it that's Brian power wtz as you talk BP I I'm watching the screen it the Marlins are taking money as BP talks so it must be like some some chat steam right there mark saying the Market's saying I like what Greg Brady is saying I can't unsee it Eric D and the chat earlier said he looks like Greg Brady and haven't been able to unsee it so uh so yeah Brian walking all that says Brian power he puts his his pants on one leg at a time just like everyone else the difference is he walks through a beaded door like Greg Brady when he's done putting on those those pants one leg at a time ultimate Rockies and the Tigers trig would be the one coming on here with the best bet in this game but hey if it cashes who cares about the quality what are we doing in that game trig yeah so there's the football special 30 days um I've already got college and NFL up uh for the wheat will College I'll be putting NFL up today um so that's a you know that that's for any handicapper but definitely take a look at that I do have a 4% play in Major League Baseball today one on Monday with the Red Sox didn't play anything yesterday so um but I have one I love today that's on my page right now 4% best bet in Major League Baseball another one i' I've really considered um I've I've given you a couple on the show that I've like have been close with this is a another one and it'll depend on maybe like where the price ends up but uh the the Rockies are probably going to hang around tonight uh I'm looking at Rockies plus one and a half against the Tigers so man the Tigers I'm going to eat my words a little bit here um I I thought that I was going to be totally right about season win total under the fact that they were like completely out of it and and suddenly Here Come the Tigers they are um they have the best record in Major League Baseball since August 11th uh their run differential in that time is the best in the league plus 55 they're playing in incredible ball right now to get back in the mix they're just three games back of a wild card spot now I believe three games back of the twins um but at but at the same time I still think this is the Tigers I think they're just playing their their best ball now and I I still think that this is a team that probably doesn't belong in the minus 190 minus 200 range very often so you know especially with Casey M on the mound like there are guys like scoel and there are times that the the Tigers warrant being a$2 favorite but Casey ma pitching is not one of them he is you know so two thing one his last 15 starts at home he's 7 with a 4.50 ER hasn't won at at K Park in Forever um the second thing that is the more more concerning thing to me is the fact that the velocity on his fast ball has been down since coming off the IL so he had a hamstring injury missed about two months this is going to be his third start off the iil and the fastball V is down so that that's obviously a concern the Rockies haven't hit anything lately but you know you you give him an average pitcher that doesn't have his his Tip Top V on his fast even the Rockies can do some damage against that now the Rockies yesterday got destroyed the good part about that is the preferred Bullpen arms are still down there and you know Dan you're probably like what preferred Bullpen arms it's the Rockies but there are actually a couple of really stud relief pitchers down in this that down in this Bullpen um ever since August 1 so you're looking at Luis Peralta the dude has been completely unhitable in the minors his go look at his minor league numbers it's it's insane he was he's got like a sub one er a sub one whip they they somehow convinced the Pirates to give give him up um and you know since August 1 since he's been in the Rockies organization lights out since they called him up six scoreless Innings he's given up like two hits got he's nasty he'll definitely pitch tonight he hasn't pitched in a couple days the other guy's Angel chiil um he his season long numbers are inflated uh but since they recalled him on August 1st kind of put him in that closer Ro or like one of the high leverage roles he's been fantastic he will probably pitch tonight so let's work back to front right you've got two really good relievers there can Tanner Gordon get them the ball now you're going to look at Tanner Gordon's numbers and say probably not his his erra is close to eight but that's at the big league level this year he's been back down in Albuquerque for a month last start for Albuquerque eight shutout Innings against Tacoma I thought he looked really good actually in his last two starts down there um so you know you talk about can he keep us in the game I think he probably can so you add all of that up and I think the the Rockies are are definitely worth a look at plus one and a half you get the extra run with the road team uh and I wouldn't be surprised if they bounced back and won this game but you know they're still a bad team so give me the run and a half but I do think they hang around here and it's a tight game in Detroit hey when the price makes sense taking the run and a half no one picks the spots better than Adam much better than last Saturday my three sides were ULM that's Louisiana Monroe San Jose State and Northern Illinois what did all three of those teams have in common they were underdogs that one out right so we're looking to do it again on Saturday I also have a 4% total in MLB for tonight uh seven and one my last eight MLB totals and my best bet on the show here that I'm about to get into is also a total be Brewers Giants over seven now betting the over in a game where Blake Snell is starting admittedly that seems risky but Dan as you know I never choose the easy path in life so why would we start doing that now uh first off this number is low I'm going to get back to snell in a bit and why I think maybe you might see him give up some runs or at least the Giants give up runs in general but first let's talk about Milwaukee starter Colin rehea guys my feelings on him well documented this is another guy like Peterson okay a massive overachiever early in the season let's not be fooled by his 3.72 ER because his expected ER is 4.96 I know they love it when I bring up expected RA in the comments section but uh the regression monster has come for rehea guys 5.20 erra's last five starts been a lot worse at night than in the daytime as ra is about to run a half higher at night than in the day so that's interesting and uh I think the Giants are going to score a decent number of runs here they faced Rhea twice last season they scored seven runs off him in 12 Innings now Snell okay the other part of the equation here he's an elite starting pitcher we all know that but a quick hook as of late uh last time out he only lasted an inning against Arizona he lowed two runs there was kind of some head scratching about why there was that early hook Snell said he agreed with it but the bottom line is this now over his last three starts Snell is lasted just 11 Innings total one of those made up uh most of those Innings and he's actually given up five runs in those 11 Innings and
