49ers are off today there's no camp but we are going to discuss who's going to be running back to on today's episode and we got the latest updates on wide receiver Brandon nuk Mike you ready baby you that they watch the shows I'm convinced I'm convinced I'm convinced I'm con I'm overly convinced that they watch the shows because after the Wayne Breezy show came the Pat McAfee show came Adam shefer and he basically reiterated what I talked about on the show this morning reiterated verbatim let's let's give him something to talk about then okay that's the way I feel like look if they going if they going to watch you they not going to say anything and it's you know what we do is we we throw ideas is out there we throw you know hunches and and you know reading the tea leaves and all that stuff trying to decipher some of the code that's being spoken or actions that are being taken and what it means and where it comes from and what it could be leading to and then it's like all right only two people I've ever seen them do it with but other never mind I going to get into all that but yes I I do feel you so what what was the word what happened today on Pat McAfee show well I mean simply man like it you know you know when when Matt mioko this weekend came out with the report and said that the ball is in Brandon auk's Court um pretty much like you know auk's got to make this decision like you know where do you want to play what's most important we've been saying for the longest that the Niners want iuk care just at their price we've been also saying that Brandon auk wants to be here just at his price and that's the contract stall right the price clearly the price isn't right somewhere so Sher came out and said well you know Brenan a I think he said brenon like even rejected the offer in Cleveland which I didn't hear but like he rejected it because he doesn't want to play there and I'm like okay and basically he came out and stated that Brandon auk has a un you know he has a no trade clause unofficial no trade clause in his contract and he's 100% correct because auk has to agree to the deal so the Niners can trade him but he's looking for a deal which gives him that unofficial no trade clause right yeah yeah think about it no okay you saying no but I'm telling you ex he does not have to agree to the deal that the other team is offering so that part is correct the ners can trade him but he's yeah okay so go ahead no that you you just said it the Niners can trade him period that's where it stops a no trade clause is you can't trade me unless I agree now you want to argue with the other team's front office about your new contract that's a different story but the ners can trade them for a seventh round pick right now if they won to and his ass is gone because they're going to trade Brandon auk and his rights to team X and he's gone now he's their headache to deal with he can sit here and say well if you if you trade me I'm not going to sign a deal so he he can try that be a little bit more realistic that is realistic that's not realistic no no no a seventh round pick is far from freaking realistic like realistic I was say but they could if they want the ners and and I understand that but we know that they're that like that that ain't it like but if the let's just say the Niners could trade him for a third round pick I I wouldn't do it first of all any trade that saying though the Niners can't trade him and he would have to happily go not happily but he would have to go like because he doesn't have a no trade clause but it's got to be something on this fifth year option deal that saves him from accepting an offer that he doesn't want from another team it has to be it could be we don't know that I'm just saying if that was the case then shefer would have said he can't be traded without agreeing to it what sher's point was is that the Niners can trade for him but he can put his feet in the ground say hey uh I'm not signing whatever y'all give me and then it's it's literally where we are right now with him is he on this team or not I mean he's on the team contract yes yes so so they would trade that same existing than some numbers thrown out there and him saying uh I didn't agree to it basically but if the if the Niners made an offer and they're not ready to move on move away from that offer they're not ready to budge from that offer I just I just feel like Brandon nayuk has to make that decision right like either he play on his fifth year option at 14.1 either he accepts the offer for the extension let's say it's just 26 million let's just say it's that let's just keep it at what it's been let's say it's 26 million per year let's just say it's all that like I you or or we'll trade you but this is where you're going to go you're going to go to New England you're going to go to Cleveland you're going to go to these teams because they're giving us what we want in return because at the end of the day the ners still want to recoup from Brandon auk right they want the best possible package they could get back for Brandon nuk it's not like they are beefing and the Niners don't like they just want to move on from him that's why I say can you be a little bit more real realistic with the seventh round pick that ain't but that ain't what the Niners are doing the Niners want in return on their investment I like the baseball analogy that you made and I'm not a baseball Enthusiast or anything like that I claim my Phillies but I do know this about you know you can have as big of a batter as you want but if you you can stand at the plate all day you don't even have to swing your ass can get struck out or they can send you to base or they can send you to base they can walk you or they can it so if you if you want 500 okay I'll give you 250 and then I want to see what your counter to my counter is cuz if you say give me 350 I'm like I got you I got you at 275 dog right now or if they say oh this this ain't for you you shouldn't even be here if that's what you think you get here and that's that's clearly fine I'll move on to the next d right and then they call you back or you'll still see it listed and they done lessen the price cuz nobody Bo at at 500 right or here's the other option you walk away or you walk away and be like damn it I really need that maybe the 500 ain't bad maybe the 500 ain't bad that's an option but I'm not that dude I could live without it like you know what I mean like I 500 I'm not spending I could live without it I'm just saying auk you know is doing what he has to do to to build his work like like you get what I'm saying so like I'm not mad at what auk is doing or anything like that I wouldn't be mad at any player but it's it's it's unfortunate that aayu has to do these things because he doesn't play one of those top three positions on a football team right and some teams just don't value the wide receiver and when you look at the teams that are paying the wide receivers I mean it's probably they're probably paying their quarterback but they're not paying their running back they probably got a young running back they probably got it's different like you know what I mean so every team's built differently um I wish that was a half I wish this wasn't a half hour show cuz I got a question for you but I know we to if Debo and I were drafted in opposite years would this be happening with Debo yes that's exactly what I want to know that's exactly what I want to know because you know what I'm starting to think iuk was better than the Niners thought he was going to be no no no no no no but that's dope that's not what I'm thinking I think I'm thinking that the ners value versatility over everything in this offense okay okay I don't think auk is that versatile guy he's a true number one wide receiver I don't think Devonte Adams brand and I you these Justin freaking Jefferson they would work cup I mean Cooper Cooper um what's the man name for Amari Cooper Amari Amari Cooper I don't think z1es don't think any of those guys would work in this offense and be happy interesting you think auk would have got extended because he would have been a year earlier than Debo and he oh no he would have been a first round pick yo the Niners would have had to been choosing between the two of them at the same time same time that's stough all right all right let's move on running backs but but just think about what I'm saying like if KY Shanahan doesn't predicate his offense on having a true one but having a dog and then having a really versatile piece that's why Debo got his deal div's versatility was key but there's something here because the Niners at least made an offer they didn't just say hey we not go negotiating right now no remember at the beginning of the show what did I say the want him here yes I mean John Lynch wasn't Bull cripping with that he he dead ass they want him here here the price though I don't think and I don't even think it's a lowball price I just think it's a it's a 49er set price it's it's it's it's a price where we fail as fear you get 70 receptions a year on average and yeah you're a thousand yard wide receiver but we not using you as a number one whatever you do for us this is what we're willing to pay if you do more that's on you or they could kind of put some type of incentives in there to make it more worth his while I guess anyway let's talk about these running backs too running back twos because right now per Kyle Shanahan per a lot of the the the coaches um uh and listening to some of the players it it sounds like it's a cam battle Mike um and I guess my question to you is Elijah Mitchell clearly the running back two spot I mean running back two guy like I mean I I I don't know how you feel Elijah Mitchell should be the 49ers backup running back yes absolutely so what's the definition of the backup running back for Mike because I like CU I I said running back to you said backup running back I like what you doing here yeah I think the Niners are one of the few teams remaining that aren't doing running back by committee anymore I think that those days are long gone I think that unless Christian mcaffry has a cramp H his arm head while trying to run to the he's not coming out I thought it was just me what you see his paycheck you see that new deal people don't like me because I'm I'm want them in the game but I get it they want to say they want to they want to savor him they want to they want him to last they want him to be durable down the stretch that ain't how you win games I mean every week is a big game if Christian mcaffry was here to be part of uhhuh wait what did you say every week is a big game yeah I don't beat those teams we dominate those teams you can't tell me that that Eagles game was not a big game you can't tell me that that Cowboys game at that time was not a big game big gam it's not the big wants them to be doing after the first drive in the fourth quarter that's the only way we going to see carries going to other people tell me I'm wrong tell me you disagree now who's running back to or back up whatever however you want to call it that no well it's different running back two I think it's going to be Jordan Mason I think the backup running back is going to be Elijah Mitchell the guy I'm gonna trust to put in this game is gonna be that guy I know it don't make sense but it make all the sense because on the dep like I be on the depth chart I think Jordan the first yeah I think he's moving up on that depth chart but it's kind of weird right cuz it's like who does who will Kyle and Bobby Turner trust to run this offense God forbid something happened to Christian mcaffrey and I don't think they putting the trust in Jordan Mason no matter how good of a camp he's having I love it but I don't think they're GNA put all the trust in faith into the kid unless you're running back put the trust and faith in Elijah Mitchell who can only play three and a half games a year bro that's that was then we talk about now he healthy now you can't get mad at him he Healy you knock on nothing K Shanahan was going to do or Bobby Turner was going to do to put in Jordan Mason unless he had to me Elijah Mitchell not being good banged up when he was banged up here come Jordan Mason it was so sporadic I just feel like as long as Elijah Mitchell is here it's his spot explain to me how you think one guy's the backup and one guy's rb2 then I need I need you to differentiate what that me the same damn thing Mike it's the same damn oh so they both going to be Elijah Mitchell EX they both going to be backups running back te you think Mitchell ends the season with more carries than Mason I think he ends the season with more carries than Mason but Mason might end with more yards but they both put up running back two numbers no impossible no wait wait how's that impossible well before before I just start arguing and argue just say if I gave you running back two numbers and a and you average let's I'm just going to keep it short let's say I I let's just say you you had 20 carries five yards a carry 100 yards even okay and let's say uh Jordan Mason had 10 rushes for 200 yards that's 20 yards they big explosive plays not saying that's ever going to happen but I think I think Mason will average more yards per carry than Elijah Mitchell because he'll see more carries so his average will go down if that makes sense okay so comparable numbers but less wear and tear explosive plays go to the Mason guy right I think he's just dependent on if you but if you look at their track record that's how they've been used right when Jordan Mason comes in the game I swear it seems like he averages Seven Something yards a carry right Elijah Mitchell Physical Elijah Mitchell's averaging when when healthy Elijah Mitchell was almost at that number almost at six yards per car he was almost at six yards a carry I think five seven or something like that yeah right and so I'm I have to factor in health because Elijah Mitchell only first day off I believe was yesterday like right and so like he's been in Camp he's been healthy and K Shanahan said that Elijah Mitchell is has not declined but Jordan Mason has gotten better so what does that mean does that mean Jordan Mason is better than Elijah Mitchell if he has a decline because it comes down to the person who you trust to be in there and that's a Bobby Turner thing we always was blaming Kyle Shanahan I think this is
