as we've said it's not just the Democrats who are suddenly looking at a very different kind of presidential contest Republicans are already re-calibrating their attack lines so let's hear about how they might deal with a Harris candidacy from someone who has been at the very center of a Republican presidential campaign Sarah Palin she is of course the former governor of Alaska who in 2008 stood as the Republican party's nominee for the vice presidency under John McCain only to see Joe Biden take that office under Barack Obama more recently she has been a high-profile supporter of Donald Trump so I spoke to Sarah P in a short time ago from her home in Alaska Mrs Palin thank you so much uh for joining us this evening it looked as though your party had the beating of Joe Biden so you must be a bit worried about this change uh not worried at all because the replacement if the replacement remains kamla Harris um is not a real popular candidate and I don't think that the Republicans under Trump have anything to worry about however there is so much volatility in this campaign season it's pretty crazy Tom what's going on over here um including the fact that we don't even know if Cala Harris is actually the nominee um you know they still have to go through their process of a convention and they're probably a lot of shenanigans going on for uh perhaps choosing a different candidate because because KLA she has very very poor approval ratings in the US um and when she has to go to say Wisconsin Georgia Michigan those type of States when her policies her record her priorities are made known in those States I think the approval ratings will dip even more she's made the point she's a former prosecutor she's prosecuted sexual predators she said Donald Trump is a sexual predator he's a convicted felon of course now uh whether you're party or anyone else likes it or not I mean that's awkward isn't it a a a former prosecutor against a convicted felon that's just bad politics well come is rese isn't as strong as perhaps some would uh think it is based on what they see on paper she's never had to win a primary she's never had to Garner a lot of votes a lot of support in fact I'll say this candidly she's been able to pretty much slide on into the roles that she has had and uh you know that doesn't bode well for a lot of experience and and um a lot of ability or opportunity to articulate what her priorities are and what her vision for our country is of course she failed as vice president um you know she was the Border Zar and instead of securing our border she opened it up and they've been quite bold and candid about wanting to open up our borders for unvetted illegal aliens to to enter our country that was her main role and she failed in that people are going to remember that many Americans clearly decided Joe Biden was too old but he wasn't the only person who got names wrong Anda occasionally M mangled things Donald Trump's done a fair bit of that is there a danger now that Donald Trump simply also looks too old uh no you know I've mangled names too I think all of us have uh so that's not the point I think in recognizing that Joe Biden just um was not capable of continuing in the campaign he's not capable of finishing his term even I predict that he will resign and commo will be able to slip in as uh the first female uh president of the United States they need that Legacy Tom they want that Legacy they crave it because they don't have a whole lot of other positive things to stand on after these years of the Biden Harris Administration they want that part of a legacy so I think kamla will be able to step in be dubbed that first female president and then um she will not win though uh the regular campaign that we're going to witness in November Mrs Palin we really appreciate you taking the time thank you very much indeed for joining us this evening
