Pioneer Saloon: Oldest Bar By Las Vegas & Historic Ghost Town of Goodsprings | Fallout NV Location

I'm Danny 702 and welcome to Good Springs Nevada today we took a short road trip from Las Vegas to the historic town of good Springs Nevada this town gives you a really cool glimpse of the Wild West plus it has probably one of the oldest saloons in Nevada we're going to visit that today as well as give you a glimpse of the Town itself good Springs Nevada sits about 45 minutes away from the Las Vegas trip you would exit at Gan Nevada right off the 15 freeway close to where the seven magic mountains currently is which by the way has to move up north pretty soon but you might have no idea there is a historic gem just a short drive right off the freeway that I think is definitely worth a stop so you'll exit the 15 freeway and then head down this stretch of road but it only goes for about 6 miles it's not too far down it looks a lot longer than it is it's a small town but it's like taking a step back in time with some really great hiking trails you can explore the desert landscape you can do some off-roading at the Gan dry lake but in good Springs you can check out the old Cemetery with burials dated all the way back to 1890 so you know with something so old that the town also has talks of Supernatural and Paranormal Activity good spring cemetery is also where the beginning of Fallout New Vegas starts and you can catch some of the other parts in town from the game the good Springs Cemetery sits right before you head into town in the early 1900s the robins family donated this land for Our Town Cemetery this land is to be used only for burials of bonafide residents of the town of good Springs this is also a stone in the front that has a few names of people from the Civil War World War I World War II wow Korean conflict Spanish ameran War some of the burials will state back all the way to 1890 we'll see if we can find them they might be a little bit hard to make out but you can see some of these are very new like this one here is showing 2023 she was a good Springs Elementary School teacher here's one of the older ones that we can find Anna hmer looks like she was just 21 years old born 1869 and passed 1890 I read online if it was accurate that there is a very small amount of residents here I mean like hundreds if what I read is true good Springs owes his name to Joseph good a Pioneer who staked his claim in the late 19th century drawn by the promises of mineral riches although this town's initial growth was due to mining it truly boomed in the early 20th century thanks to the expansion of the railroad system a total of 25 million primarily in lead and zinc lesser amounts of gold silver copper nickel platinum and uranium and I keep seeing those coils run by there they go capitalizing on this growth local businessman George Fel opened the Pioneer Saloon in 1913 followed by a hotel in 1916 many of the historic buildings in town have been preserved and offer a glimpse into the town's past for instance the schoolhouse which also open in 1913 is still here and it's listed on the national register of historic places it still is in use as the school here at good Springs on this particular building there is a historical marker see if I can zoom in there ah so it's been placed on the national register of historical places uh goodsprings nevada.org good Springs Historical Society walking tour so you can see there's the map there where I believe hopefully looking at this correctly but there's the Pioneer Saloon and across the street was the business district and there's still some buildings standing here some of them have markings so this one is showing you it's number eight on the walking tour and you can even use the QR code to pull it up really quickly the good Springs post office from 1930s to the 1950s cross from the old post office is the general merchantile site from 1917 I believe and that's just a a little bit of the walking tour there was a lot more markers a lot more buildings to see but it is super hot out here and I am definitely ready for some food and possibly a drink I know that they have good milkshakes over here at the Pioneer Saloon too so let's go check that out plus just a really cool building you guys got to see this good spring sometimes is referred to a ghost town due to its declining after the mining boom however it has managed to maintain its charm and attract visitors throughout the years one of the most iconic spots in good Springs is going to be here at the Pioneer Saloon this is a mustsee for any fan of the Wild West it was established in 1913 and is one of the oldest continuously operating saloons in Nevada as soon as you step inside you're transported back in time the saloon interior is filled with vintage Decor including old photographs Western artifacts and a classic wooden bar the room adjacent to the main bar area is filled with memorabilia and much of it is centered around Clark Gable and the tragic plane crash that claimed the life of his wife Carol Lumbard Gable spent three agonizing days at this bar anxiously awaiting news of his wife after a plane crash he ended up getting the word that she perished in the crash on a nearby Mountain on January 16th of 1942 according to the local lore the burn marks on the wooden bar surface are said to be the result of gel's nervous habit of burning out his cigarettes while awaiting the news you see these markings here are said to be from Clark Gable himself they got a whole lot of new stuff from the last time we were here at least it's been a while but a lot of things on the game so this is it this is where we are prospector Saloon they change the name which is Pioneer Saloon and then the general store right next through it oh that's so cool and there's a sign here for the upcoming Fallout New Vegas days which is November 16th and 17th so just a couple of weeks away Pioneer saloon has gained worldwide recognition making appearances in countless movies music videos television shows and of course Fallout New Vegas and all around the saloon you'll find some really cool history we're sitting at a table where an incident from 1915 happened right behind me here an employed Miner Paul kosi was shot by Joe Armstrong who was the poker dealer here after being caught cheating the original tin wall still has three bullet holes from the incident they have it on display alongside the local newspaper headline and the Corner's report which is pretty wild to see so Paul kosi is also believed to be one of the several spirits that linger in the Pioneer Saloon employees and customers said that they have witnessed a variety of ghostly phenomena like a female voice weeping in the empty woman's restroom at nighttime or an atique telephone ringing despite being unplugged and even unexplained movements of objects that's just to name a few the walls and the ceilings are all the original stamped tin there's even a stove right behind me that's the original stove all from 1913 Still Standing through the desert wheat the desert storms the winters can be rough out here but it's still standing it's still original it's pretty darn amazing but here is the Pioneer Saloon menu breakfast will be served from 9:00 a.m. until noon and they've got a pretty large breakfast menu things like pancakes or Flapjacks they've got briskets and gravy the Clark Gable brisket sandwich about 10 to let's say 20 $ for some of the menu items there they also have Burgers hot dogs sandwiches like BLT salads down here about $15 you'll find barbecue sandwiches and different plates like a barbecue brisket sandwich they have pizza and different types of desserts full bar here their cocktails I don't see a price on there and then on the back here are their milkshakes which I've seen a photo of online and they look really good but said they're hand dipped milkshakes they have some that are year round like a Andy's mint the cheesecake sound really good too and then they have specialty and seasonal milkshakes the nowadays Pioneer Saloon is owned by a musician and an entrepreneur known as old man liver you can see old man liver has got his own whiskey I believe also his Brew Here Eddie ordered a busy blonde I'm not a be drinker but I can see Eddie liking the besy long so for lunch Eddie ordered the cowboy burger for $3.99 and it is a Angus beef patty topped with lettuce tomato and onion with your choice of cheese and then I ordered the haunt dog which was also $1 13.99 but that comes with a jalapeno cheddar dog wrapped in jalapeno bacon and it topped with their famous ghost sauce yeah I just really wanted to try the ghost sauce I don't know how hot it's going to be but we're going to see yeah there's a definite kick but but like not super hot it's not it's not crazy hot with the name of ghost sauce I thought it was going to be crazy like sweating hot but it's not too bad I like it tolerable they not only have good food good drinks and all of the amazing history but they also do live music on weekends and hold events like weddings they have a Halloween party out here there's even an annual Fallout get together that we've been wanting to check out so they were telling us when they do the Fallout event that there was about 3,000 people that showed up last time which is funny cuz the town probably has about 300 in the whole town so can you imagine 3,000 people at the bar at the partyer saloon there's a whole outside section we're going to go out there in a little bit I'm sort of seeing now how 3,000 people can fit in this at this bar with the outdoor section pretty darn big back here really cool backdrop with the desert land landcape you got the music The Life music going on right now and on Wednesday nights they do a burlesque show here too last Wednesday every oh every last Wednesday of the month so not every Wednesday they are open 7 days a week they open at 9:00 a.m. weekends they close at midnight and then the weekdays I believe they close around 9:00 p.m. or 10:00 p.m. they also do a happy hour Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. which is kind of close 5 you call it cocktails all right so we couldn't resist the hand dipped milkshakes and we went with a cheesecake milkshake which has vanilla ice cream a whole Slice of Cheesecake strawberry sauce cream cheese frosting Grand cracker crumbles and whipped cream top yeah this is really freaking good you definitely have to get the milkshakes Here Eddie and I split it and I'm a little sad that I didn't get my home because that disappeared so quickly you can taste the cheesecake little bits in there it's very very so there you have it folks thanks for joining me and taking a look at good Springs Nevada such a fun historic town right
