unofficial results are in Dallas Cowboys trade for Trey Lance is a far-reaching disaster the Dallas Cowboys trade for quarterback Trey Lance continues to be a cautionary tale of High Hopes And disappointing returns as the Cowboys wrapped up their preseason with a 26 to9 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers Lance's performance highlighted the growing concerns surrounding this acquisition Lance who played the entire game had a mixed showing with two touchdowns but also threw five interceptions in including a critical pick six this performance has only intensified scrutiny over his place on the team one year ago the Cowboys traded a fourth round pick to the San Francisco 49ers for Lance the former third overall pick however Lance's time with Dallas has been marked by inconsistency in iner performance in three preseason games he managed just two touchdowns against five interceptions casting doubt on his future with the team Cowboys owner Jerry Jones known for his bold moves has defended the trade citing the need for Lance to gain experience I saw good and I saw some things you'd like to have backed Jones commented after the game despite this many critics argue that the trade has been a costly misstep especially as the Cowboys struggle with a thin running back roster the trade initially seen as a potential steal now appears as one of the team's more regrettable decisions with Lance said to be a backup behind Dak Prescott and Cooper Rush the Cowboys May soon have to reassess their investment in a player whose future with the team remains uncertain as the season progresses the Cowboys handling of their quarterback depth and running back needs will be closely watched with many fans and analysts questioning if the team might have been better served investing elsewhere
