repurposed as my den of spage that's right kides I'm buggering off to a brand new text Towers one with a slightly bigger slightly warmer room which I can sit in alone all day long shooting my crappy little videos and more importantly it's just down the road from an odd bins cuz you know your uncle spur is getting on a wee bit hobbled quite so far for my daily sixpack of Stella of course I'd be lying if I said I wasn't going to miss this place had some you know happy memories through the years and some uh some slightly less happy memories well you asked for it but anyhow just about enough time before I pack up the old booze cabinet for one more doors of the YouTube equivalent of garia jingle Daddo techert weekly so this week was Apple launch Apple recap week and sadly I couldn't make it to catino myself as I was washing my hair but if you want to watch my fellow Tech Bellin gushing frantically all over these stupidly expensive bricks while Tim Cook watches appr provenly just off camera possibly while clutching a taser or some kind of whip well good news you got about 100 or so of the things to choose from from the highlights article that I just skimmed through it sounds like Apple's G big feature for 2024 is basically a camera button similar to what Sony's been slapping on its phones for a decade now while Siri is getting absolutely pumped full of AI can't help but feel that the result of that will be somewhat similar to handing a thesaurus to a toddler sure it might be able to use fancy words all of a sudden but Underneath It All it's still a bit of a thicky but anyway there'll be plenty Huawei Mate XT more iPhone in the next week or so hip hip hazar but for today's show we're focusing on something a wee bit less mundane by which I mean something that's mder than a barrel of monkeys being kicked off a cliff this right here kitties is the huwe mate XT where the XT bit presumably stands for extremely bloody mental unlike most foldables which Bend in the middle the mid XT features a dual hinge design and un fills into a proper massive 10.2 in tablet dwarf and the internal screen on other bendy gits like the pixel 9 Pro fold which is a mere 8 in titch in comparison there a proper belter of a screen as well ltp allads Tech as you would expect 3184 by 2232 pixel resolution bit a high frequency pwm Dion so it's easy on your peepers The Works that frame is constructed from 80 layers of fine steel making it tougher than a coked up walrus with a full leather back and a rod based hinge rod and impressively the M XT is only slightly thicker than most regular foldables like the Z fold 6 slapped on the back you've got a 50m main Camera Plus 12m Ultra wide and 12m Periscope shooter with a 5.5 times optical zoom while we also managed to find room in that skinny frame for a 5,500 milliamp capacity battery which is bigger than most other foldables out there and hopefully good enough to power that wanging great screen for hours at a time and it charges up much faster than it Samsung and Google shaped Rivals as well with 66 W wide charging support and 50 W wireless charging support but of course as it's Huawei it does run a bit of Harmony OS rather than Android so there's zero googly goodness to be had here and then there's the price which starts at a not inconsiderable 2,157 gbps in a direct conversion better hope those stocks are rising fast Mr suti now you've gone and dropped over 2ks on this bunkers blower good thing he's Rich enough to go to Posh cocktail bars too if you went and whip this thing out down my local Bozer he'd find himself flat on his back missing about five teeth and one very bendy for of course A lot has been made of that price in the Press but it's not actually too terrible when you consider most bloody big foldables started close enough to two grand anyway of course this isn't taken into account taxing and all the usual that'll probably bump it right up if it ever does come to British Shores and at the moment the mid XT is very much China only but hopefully we'll see it hit Western markets at some Point especially as the main XT has apparently been a huge success over in its Homeland shifting millions of units in pre-order and let's face it if you want yourself a mental bit of first gen Tech you're going to have to pay silly money for it usually just look at Apple's bloody Vision Pro
