Biking to the Capitol where the flags were at half staff today.

[Music] guys we're operating without a mic today so not sure how it's going to sound we'll do our best as we go out for a Friday ride around Washington on a pretty boring day nobody's in town nothing's going on but we're on a bike we'll have fun so vice president Harris is going to be coming back from Chicago in a couple hours Biden is gone he's in California but he comes back to Delaware tonight and he spends another week in Delaware on vacation so where I going to see him all week I don't know the VP is going to go on vacation he's probably going to go campaigning so maybe we'll see her helicopter this week let's get out on Pennsylvania Avenue check what's going on in the White House truth conductors playing music couple protesters outside guys selling bottles of water kind of illegally actually it is a normal day oh Jehovah Witnesses random protester yeah it's pretty simple pretty simple day uh let's go see what else we can find going on not sure we're going to find much I hear a PA address I think it's a protester yeah there's a guy across the street with a big megaphone saying random stuff what he protesting Jesus saves you understand the dangers of our Humanity of our limitations will show you how really is you and there's our plywood around the treasury and the Speedy biker okay well we just found another microphone in my bag of tricks cuz you know my bag has got just a bunch of everything inside it so let's see if this microphone holds and works if not then you're going to have a lot of wind noise ah pretty chill day out here on the National Mall we're down by the Department of Agriculture right now everybody's off for August recess maybe they're out uh doing a harvest it's not Harvest time is it it's too early still got another month of growing season I think uh let's go out into the mall itself it's a fine line for the uh dirt ends and the Sidewalk Ends it's mostly dirt these food trucks are all illegal the police came out and actually bothered they would get rid of them but they don't really bother that much there is the US capital we're going to go up there and take a look at the hoarding that we saw the construction work uh see if there's been any new developments up there Al cuz there's just not a lot else to do that's the Smithsonian Castle on my right this is like the headquarters building of the Smithsonian it's under renovation for the next few years so you can't really go in it and the Natural History building over there that's dinosaurs and mammals and jewelry like huge diamonds and gold and all sorts of other gems and stuff that's the uh arts and industry building that's the second Smithsonian Museum building it's been closed for a couple years now um I'm not sure when they're going to have another exhibit pop up it's got a lot of structural problems the building itself they even talk about tearing it down but it's so cool looking I think the preservationist would go nuts these are tourists so down here is the hershorn sculpture garden that is the heror museum over there which is pretty much Modern Art and whatnot this was a huge sculpture garden but they decided to dig it up and build a bigger one guess could figure more sculptures that's the National Archives on my left Constitution declaration depense but I can't show it to you on film because they don't let you take cameras in there which is really annoying there's some sandbags at the Metro station uh vents is this the green line green and yellow line r over the street sto okay we are now pedaling across the street look at all the food trucks smells like well gross actually smells kind of bad all these food trucks cooking oil and grease uh that's the National Gallery of Art over there traditional classical art and Aaron Space Museum on my right though it's still under renovation I I got to check when are they going to reopen this cuz half of it is reopened but the other half well there's still construction cranes about they did put up this new uh roof over the entry way for the visitors all the security I guess I'll be over that H let's keep going up to the capital doesn't look like they've done much since I was there the other day but we'll show you okay we are down at the reflecting pool by the capital there's a reflecting pool by the L Memorial as well that's the Forest Gump reflecting pool this one is actually the roof of a freeway yeah the uh freeway actually runs underneath part of this the Lan heading um 395 as you call it or just the tunnel and let's keep trying not to break this bike this bumpy road uh let's run up to the capital see what we can see man that is a horrible sidewalk horrible government work one day they'll fix it so on my right is the botanical gardens you know we haven't been in there in a while been like a year or two maybe we'll go visit the botanical gardens show you guys what is in there dog is like hey that guy's filming me all right up we go hey flags are at half mast who died I've lost track we lose another Congressman I think we did let's check it out so there's the construction hoarding we saw the other day now I showed you the architect of the C website which said this is preparations for the inauguration we're going to start building the inaugural platform though technically they have a big event in September where they put the first nail in but this is this is precursor to that building a wall so they can have this area secure for construction I don't know who died I'm about to check out the flag there's a website that explains who and why flags are at half staff see can see a lot of construction Flags back here and then of course the big plywood wall what the sheet of plywood are big like 12 ft maybe oh there's two of them there's like 8T sheet and there's like a couple feet at the bottom all right go up this way way more contractors drop enough stuff MGP construction Forest Hills Maryland good contract if you can get it all right let's go up okay we're back on the East front now of the capital and it is empty and quiet you can't see the flags are at half staff back here once we get into the shadow of the Dome there it should be a little easier it is pretty bright let's try to find out why they are we go talk to a cop or something okay it appears that a former Congressman congressman pel from New Jersey has passed away at 14-year veteran of the capital and it looks like the flags are lowered um well certainly on the house side we'll check the Senate side most likely in honor of him passing away so bunch of flags up here Wonder that's all about a protest oh let's go over here they got like a table kind of random they give me out food no I think it's one of those uh having a meal for the hostages or something I'm not sure though yeah a hostage meal or seder or something all right let's swing over this way buzz by the Supreme Court not much I mean the court is away though they are having some emergency docket decisions come out uh which are not like normally fully argued but uh decisions handled on this was Shadow docket is what they call it or the emergency docket they had one about Arizona voting uh just the other dayci I think it was 63 with uh I guess it would have been Roberts and Barrett joining the Liberals on the court well actually probably 63 had be a couple others anyway they want to do a invalidate some of the voters in Arizona it's kind of a partial win partial victory for both sides other than that not much in the court going on right now so we're just going to swing over here to the Senate side cuz I want to see if the flags at the Senate side are at half staff cuz sometimes it's just one and not the other and the answer is the flag is at half staff on the Russell Center office building as well so I'm guessing that's for Congressman Pascal Pascal but uh I'll check when I get home and see if I can find out any more I'm going to take this turn and back down to the mall yeah slide over into this park on the seted side cuz the fountain is really gushing over here and it always looks really pretty now at night time this Fountain lights up with like colored lights inside the water so if you're down here at night time it's actually a really pretty photo there's the fountain and as we get around the other side of the fountain you'll see why the view is so cool don't get burned out by the sun here there you go US capital Dome and the fountain people doing Instagrams all right away we go more instagramming okay we're on Indiana Avenue right by MPD headquarters that's the DC police department headquarters it's down here in Judiciary Square next to the DC Court that's uh that's where you go when you get arrested in DC for just about anything from protesting to murder and that's where most DC citizens spend at least a few days every year on jury duty yeah we get called for jury duty like once every other year or so can be pretty nuts going on man it is quiet today look at these like parking SPAC is available it's August it's a Friday it's nobody wants to work it's 430 it's actually a nice to drive on these days cuz you can park like you want to go to a restaurant you just park in front of it you want to go here you just park in front of it Tuesdays are worse Tuesdays th Tuesdays and Wednesdays are like the worst days cuz almost everybody goes to the office on that day but like Mondays and Fridays nah Romeo and Juliet is going to be playing here that's the FBI building up on my left but we're going to go go this way towards the National Portrait Gallery I'm taking you in there next week because there's a Wing I've never shown you yeah I've shown you the giant Atrium that you walk in but well there's another really mesmerizing section I think it's over here on the left and I've never taken you there cuz we always stop at like the presidential portraits we never go up to the third floor next week we're going up to the third floor and I'll show you this really cool area okay let's go down here we're on F and nth and F not mistaken Secret Service headquarters is up in this neighborhood least the uniform division guys it used to be more obvious cuz they used to park the Secret Service cars out front and they had like a sign but now the cars are parked underneath there's no signs you just have to know okay we are off for a little bit of a ride back by the White House just had a phone call it's pretty chill guys still pretty chill we have a Gaza protester and then uh there's a might have some Gaza protest over at GW slide down that direction that's going to back into me squirrel's about to jump on them I should really carry like peanuts or something for the squirrels peanuts for the squirrels and Cheerios for the Ducks I'm going to put that in my bag tonight okay guys that's my day it's pretty boring in Washington it's got to be boring next week too but we'll get out there we'll show you
