Why OLE MISS Football Could GO CRAZY in 2024 (Rebels Preview)

one of the most interesting teams for the 2024 college football season is going to be the Miss Rebels they return a awesome quarterback who has a ton of potential they loaded up in the transfer portal have been riding a lot of momentum over the last few years and they plan the SEC which is going to give them a leg up Old Miss is going to be extremely exciting to watch in 2024 but will they have what it takes to finally get over the hump they've been good the last 3 years but we want to see even more out of them in today's video I want to preview the 2024 Miss Rebels go through the roster talk about last year the various story lines and also try to predict how many games they're going to win but before we get started if you're a big fan of college football be sure to subscribe to the year they returned their starting quarterback in Jackson Dart and also brought in both Spencer Sanders and Walker Howard as backups Quin Shan Judkins was back at running back after he exploded as a freshman and they also had a good backup in ulyses Bentley ivth after they also lost Zack Evans to the draft at the receiver spot they had a four-headed Monster In Trey Harris Dayton Wade Jordan Watkins and Kaden prorn and on defense they were loaded with a good amount of talent olus had a decent amount of expectations and going into 2023 they're expected to finish fourth in the SEC West in terms of how they ended up doing well they played Mercer in week 1 and won 73 to7 and then in week two they had a really interesting game on the road to against is number 242 Lane this game was actually quite entertaining and it did come down to the wire but eventually Old Miss pulled away and 137 to 20 the game was closer than the score indicated though in week three they would play against Georgia Tech and they ran away with this game pretty quickly winning 48 to 23 no one really cared about those first three games though and everyone was going to have their eyes on that week four match up with number 13 Bama unfortunately this was a lot like 2021 and they just didn't really show up they ended up losing 24 to1 and Alabama was still in a bad spot at that time as they were struggling after that USF game this was a damper to their season but they would bounce back with a big victory over number 13 LSU as in a duel with Jaden Daniels they'd win 55 to 49 after that they go on a bit of a hot streak as they would beat Arkansas 27 to 20 the game really shouldn't have been that close then they also won by seven on the road against Auburn they were sort of Getting By by the skin on their teeth but luckily from there they would start to get a little bit better as they would then blast Vanderbilt and then beat Texas A&M at this point ol Miss was still in contention to make a college football playoff spot and if they could win out maybe they could find a way to get to the SEC Championship Game unfortunately all that was put to bed as on the road against number two Georgia and Brock Bow's return the Bulldogs would blast them 52 to 17 and this was absolutely embarrassing I mean college game day was there and everything and Miss just did not show up after that they went home and beat Louisiana Monroe but no one really cared and then they finished the year with a 17-7 victory on the road against Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl again no one really cared that much out of the three big games on their schedule they lost two of them and Old Miss would qualify to play in the Peach Bowl where they play against number 10 Penn State in that game they ended up winning 38 to 25 and Old Miss had a good season but people were still somewhat disappointed in terms of statistics Jackson Dart threw for 3,364 yards with 23 touchdowns quinon Judkins ran for nearly 12200 yards and 15 touchdowns and in terms of the receivers they had a three-headed monster as Trey Harris had 54 catches Dayton Wade had 55 catches and Jordan Watkins had 53 catches they all had over 700 yards and Watkins had three touchdowns weighed four and Trey Harris had eight Kaden PRI scorn was also terrific as a tight end and has established himself as a big-time 2025 prospect on the defensive side of the ball safety Trey Washington would lead the way with 83 tackles Edge rushers Cedric Johnson and Jared Ivy would both have 5 and 1 half sacks dejon Anthony had eight pass deflections and dejon Anthony led the way with three interceptions Miss had a really solid roster and in terms of the 2024 NFL draft the rebels would end up getting three guys selected deontre Prince a corner went in the fifth round to Jacksonville Cedric Johnson a defensive end went in the sixth round to Cincinnati and then D John Anthony of safety also went in the seventh round to Cincinnati well they didn't have any High hitters sending three players to the NFL was still pretty solid and it looks like in 2024 they could load up unfortunately for Old Miss they lost arguably their second most important an player in quincha Judkins as he decided to enter the transfer portal and go over to Ohio State in terms of the recruiting class the rebels landed the number 17 class in the country which is headlined by William Eckles who is a top 100 offensive lineman cam Franklin a top 150 defensive lineman and then Jeffrey Rush another fourstar defensive lineman in terms of their transfer portal that is where they did a ton of work they got a ton of Big Time Players as that included Isaiah harru a wide receiver from Southern Illinois Jordan smart a wide receiver from Texas and then they really got some good players towards the end of it they got Henry Parish who is an established running back from Miami they got Brandon Tage a corner from Tennessee fourstar running back Logan Diggs four-star Corner Trey Amos from Bama fourstar tight end dayquon Wright from Virginia Tech four star safety yam Banks from South Alabama five-star transfer Walter Nolan from Texas A&M fourstar transf for Antoine Wells from South Carolina a fourstar defensive end from Florida and then a fourstar line backer from Arkansas by the name of Chris Paul Jr obviously Miss pretty much loaded up everywhere in terms of the portal and they also grabbed Dion Smith a former BigTime wide receiver out of the jco world but what does their roster look like going into 2024 well let's take a look at that like I always attempt to do I'm going to talk about the best players and try to go through the depth chart at quarterback you obviously bring back Jackson Dart who sealing is ridiculously high and hopefully could be a first round pick and a potential Heisman Contender I think Dart can pretty much to everything but can he put it all together and especially in those big moments for now Dart has not been able to do it but this year could be his year in terms of the backups you have Walker Howard who is a former near Five Star from LSU then you also have Austin Simmons who was highly recruited out of high school and AJ Maddox who's a true freshman they're honestly in a good spot where they have a star and have a really good backup and then have a solid third option in terms of the running back position they have a couple of good options ulyses Bentley the fourth has been in there for quite a while so he'll probably be the main hitter but outside of that you have Henry Parish who played plenty at Miami Logan Diggs who's played at both LSU and Notre Dame and then jakori crosy Merritt and then a couple of other freshman if they really have to dig that deep I think they have good depth at the running back spot and I have no worries about that position the wide receiver position is absolutely awesome for them as two of their top three receivers are back in both Jordan Watkins and Trey Harris and then also they brought in Antoine Wells Wells was a star at James Madison and at South Carolina but after an injury Riddle 2023 season he'll be back and ready to go I think Wells is probably going to become the top receiver on the team but Harrison Watkins are both great as well I could see all three of those guys getting drafted then from there you also have Kaden Lee Devin Price noral white and Aiden Williams who was also a pretty big recruit you also have a couple of those transfer wide receivers as depth pieces and they did pretty good they only lost datton Wade and they definitely made an upgrade in him with Antoine Wells at tight end you bring back Kaden prorn and the only thing really lost was Michael Trigg who really wasn't that good anyway the offensive line should have a couple of starters including Diego pounds Nate cppo Caleb Warren Julius below and M A Pettis that is just the starting lineup I found online as again I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on all the nitty-gritty for Miss but I'm doing my best in terms of the defense they have a ton of good players as their defensive line is going to be loaded with transfers most notably they'll have Walter Nolan who's hoping to live up to his five-star hype and play his way into the first round of the draft there at the linebacker spots it should be headlined by Chris Paul Jr from Arkansas and former five-star suntin Perkins should also get an opportunity to play right away at corner you'll have Isaiah Hamilton Brandon Turnage from Tennessee and then guys like try Amos and Chris Graves all four of those guys should see a heavy dose of playing time and then at strong safety you should have Trey Washington and at free safety you should have John Saunders Jr there's obviously plenty of other depth pieces but again I am by no means an expert on the old miss defense and this is just based off the information I've read and the player I have heard about but some will say who cares how is Miss actually going to do in terms of the schedule well in week one they play against Ferman and if that game's Troublesome to them then they have a lot of big problems it's not going to be as they're probably going to win 50 to three and week two will be the same as they play against Middle Tennessee they should be 2 and0 going into the game against Wake Forest and while I don't think the Demon Deacons are going to win this game I think it is somewhat of a Trap Wake Forest is well coached and in the last few years they have not been an easy out I think Old Miss wins this game probably by about 10 points but it could be closer than the experts predict in week four the play against Georgia Southern and they should be 4-0 going into a game against Kentucky I don't really think the wild cats are going to be that great this year but again like Wake Forest Kentucky plays tough football and they're well coached so this will not be an easy out either but I do think ol Miss's offense is pretty insane and it should be enough to beat Kentucky by a touchdown or two chalk it up to 5 and0 and then I think they're going to be 6 and0 after they go play South Carolina in Antoine Wells Jr's homecoming game I think they're going to go in and beat South in pretty handily as they're breaking in a new quarterback in Lenor Sellers and South Carolina has a lot of question mark after a losing season in 2023 going into the back half of their schedule things get a little bit more difficult as they then go on the road to play against LSU this game was really hard to pick ultimately I'm going to say that ol Miss wins LSU fans might be mad at me but they have a new quarterback have to replace two first round draft picks and have to figure out the defense I think ol Miss wins this game probably by less than a touchdown or even a field goal and this will be Jack dart's first humongous Victory that'll have Miss 7-0 going into their match up against Oklahoma and I feel bad for Oklahoma cuz their schedules so hard this year but they are also very unproven in my eyes and I think ol Miss wins this game as well going to 8 no after that they're going to play on the road against Arkansas and this is a trap game in my eyes too it might be at the point where Sam Pitman is desperate to make a blll game and some weird things have happened in this Arkansas Miss match up in its history so I wouldn't be surprised if it's a trap game and Miss only wins by a touchdown or two still though I'm going to pick them to win before they then play at home against Georgia this could be one of the Premier games of the 2024 college football season especially in the SEC and as I already did my Georgia preview a couple weeks ago I think the dogs are going to win this game seemingly every year M Miss disappears in their biggest matchup and unfortunately I have no reason to think that it won't change this year I had them splitting against Georgia and LSU so I'm going to say that Miss ends up losing this game at home and that'll give them their first loss of the season after that they're going to go on the road to Florida and just like the Arkansas game this feels like a trap just like Sam Pitman Billy Napier's in a tough spot at Florida and they may be desperate for a win and it's always tough to play in the swamp in this Florida team I really have no idea how they're going to do still though I think Miss's talent and offense is going to win and that will get them to their 10th win of the season and they'll be 10 and one going into the Egg Bowl while some people are really high on Jeff Levy I think it's going to take some time for him to figure it out and I also don't necessarily trust Blake shaping at quarterback and while Mississippi State might be five and six going into this matchup I think Miss is going to win at home win in this rivalry game and get themselves potentially to the SEC Championship Game obviously it's going to depend on tiebreakers but I have ol Miss Texas Georgia and Alabama at the top and I have no idea how it's going to play out but I have Old Miss going 11 And1 and this would get them into the college football playoff it would all depend on matchups to see if I would pick them but miss will be a tough out because of their electric offense but will their star players step up in the biggest moments and how will the defense do those are my big question marks for Old Miss to me there are four games that are are going to determine this season the Wake Forest match up in week three as they could be caught sleepwalking and if they lose that then all momentum is lost after that their mid October game against LSU is going to be absolutely humongous the Oklahoma game and then of course the Georgia game the Trap games on the schedule are Arkansas Florida and Wake Forest and overall M Miss didn't get the worst draw in the world but it also isn't that easy the expectation is that the rebels are going to make the college football playoff
