four years now don't forget like subscribe all of that um Sid cup says we poked the bear too early we had a good game overall we brought a bit of pressure on for the second goal not disappointed bring on fulam Alex still and remember when w considered fighter B his debut these two games don't Define our season played well other than the 12 minutes or so lots of you piling in so welcome one welcome all uh don't forget we are live tomorrow 1M for a more indepth look at the game today but it has finished Man City for toown one and it was going to be a tough T start to the season was it Liverpool first game Man City second and Man City are by and far an incredible football team just an incredible football team levels um above well certainly ourselves today but uh most teams that I've that I've seen on in the Premier League on the TV I mean even if you just like take your eyes off the ball for a second every player moves every player puts it in absolute shift just absolute levels above and um yeah gonna be a great side you know pep guarda is one of the best managers to manage inside the Premier League but what do you thought about t performance today let us know uh we'll start with Curtis Curtis welcome in what are your thoughts um following that that that game today uh I mean I don't know I find it hard to be too disappointed with games like this because uh obviously you go into it not expecting anything really out of it anyway um but I thought I thought I thought we did well to take the lead in in I said to a friend first 10 minutes I said there'd be a goal wasn't didn't really think it'd be on our side um but hey ho we uh we've got our First Premier League goal and it was a nice it was a nice little tidy finish just right under him um took forever to go in though didn't it I don't know about yourself but it was like it it did feel a bit slow motion it it did just as it was trickling in it did um but it's one of them I I thought and then I thought after that I thought the the penalty the V the penalty I think it took the wind out of our sales a bit yeah um and then I think it took us five 10 minutes to actually collect ourselves and unfortunately they did the damage in that in that five 10 minutes um but but a team like that that that that's I think that's another lesson learned I I think it shows that there's no downtime um but but again I find it too I find it a bit hard and I don't know whether it's just because we are where we are now and is is it's come a lot sooner than what we all thought like us being in the Premier League and all but I find it hard to be a bit to be too disappointed with games like this because I never expected to get anything from them anyway except a good performance which I thought obviously by that by that three-goal spell I thought I thought we I thought we kind of kind of held our own a bit and against lesser opposition I thought we I thought we obviously you have to remember that they did also hit the bar twice twice but but I I didn't think we embarrassed ourselves against the best team in the Premier League I don't think we really did embarrass ourselves that much I think one thing you you certainly can't do in the Premier League but particularly against the Champions you know and a very dominant side as I said in the intro like Manchester City is is sort of you know give them give them gimmies and layups and and we did that a little bit which is obviously things we'll take back to the training ground and work on um but you can't do that in the Premier League you can't do that arguably at any level but particularly when you're playing you know the world class players that were're playing but that first eight minutes they're sort of hone in there for a minut because started the game really well you know sami's got a great goal it's a great Counterattack from us really you know off the training ground level of a Counterattack good finish and you know how did you see sort of Sam you know Sami game today I thought it was great to get him up and running and score in the Premier League I think I think he's one of them I think any new player when they come down to a new club I think they want to hit the ground running and I think I think he's just carried on his form from Blackburn I I think for a for a player that's clearly had a bit of a rough view weeks in terms of not knowing where he's going to be whether he's going to be staying at Rovers or whether he was going to come to us um and the bit of the back and forth through throughout all that I think he just carried on his own form I thought I thought he took his chance well um like like we said just then it went a bit slowmo when when it was going in but again he's now scored his first Premier League goal which I think I think if you take it into if you take that into account just on its own I think he'll be absolutely delighted with that and therefore he's he's already off the Mark um and I'm happy for him I'm for him it's it's it's nice to see players like who've been through the system and are now getting their chance in that in that Division and it's one of them if if you if you go a few games without the goal just want to he could be he could be questioning his own abilities whether he could cut it at that level whereas I think to get it so soon I I think it's just it's beneficial for him and I thought I thought his overall play today I thought it was fine it was fine it was it was exactly what I would have expected because I wouldn't I was never expecting our attacking threat to get much time out of this game because if you I mean if you look at most of the game we were we did seem to be pending our half for most which again was expected um I'm not sure what the area stats are like but I'm I'm sure that they'll show that we didn't really pressed them too much um but I thought he did I thought I thought I thought he did his job well for what for what he could have done and I was happy with him yeah I just I was happy with him okay excellent anything else you want to say before I bring coxy in for his his his reaction his view yeah I think it's going to be easy today to say that Mich uh was was at fault for uh well C certainly one of them um again it's it a tough game to come into it is a tough game to come into against a against a striker like Harland um the problem is with the way we play I suppose the issue is is the reason why we take that extra touch at the back is to draw them in don't we we we we take that extra touch to try and draw them in and therefore if come a bit closer we try and get it out and and almost break them like that but unfortunately today it didn't work and again I think it backfires on us but it it stayed at 3-1 for a long time then at the end it was 4-1 and I think it was just a bit of a Mad five minutes start and and again we'll only really know the strength of this squad from the next game onwards because by all accounts we've got two maybe three more signings coming in at some point soon and then we've still got Calvin Phillips to come on and yen custa to to to fully make an impact so this this team is not a settled team by far and I think and I and I think this team that you are seeing right now I think I think there'll be a few players who will either drop to the bench or or they might stop making Match Day 18s um so these games none of us ever expected anything I think the the best thing for us all was we were just hoping that we could get a couple of half decent performances out of them to take into the next the next few games which I think I think I think he's the most generous it fan will will say I I don't think we've embarrassed ourselves really in the in the first two games against well Champions League caliber top of the Premier League caliber opposition I don't think we've embarrassed ourselves excellent Curtis I appreciate you coming on man enjoy the rest of second performance we have nothing to worry about um what are your thoughts first of all before I jump into to sort of little bits of information or what coxy was talking Curtis was talking about there what's your thoughts on the overall 90 particularly the second half because as mer says Accord to normal nothing to worry about after that yeah great comments there by by Curtis I have to say um yeah the second half performance did did Kieran change it did Man City sort of ease off the gas a bit we don't know really um hopefully you know the first bit there it was Kieran you know we went out sort of to try and sort of bit of damage limitation because it could could have been more um copy living in The Matrix yeah my life is one big Matrix mate on obiously Curtis mentioned M we've we you know every goalkeeper had these mistakes it's it's a part parel of being a goalkeeper that plays out from the back great comment here from our chat Teddy g m bit of a how today but can't judge him on this game was a b to ASM A fire today woni made Sim mistakes in their Town careers he did make ahead of a save second half and he did that was a fantastic save in the second half and yes it's the mistake that some you know some fans we walking away with sort of you know talking about looking at um and of course because you know mistakes unfortunately the goalkeeper normally mean mean goals but they happen we've seen goalkeepers you know we can't we must have as fans judge him too early and particularly on on that mistake what are your thoughts on on that no you can't judge him on that mistake but you know youve well it's it depends you sort of will to you know you do sort of have that second of hesitation there and and the team like Man City are going to pounce and they did pounce so you know it was a the important thing is he he learns from that um same with the for me the P which we gave away is a bit that we are seeing from Leaf Davis's game he he has still got that naivity in him and now we saw against when he played away at Le's last season and um and before anybody says yes I think he I think the foul on him I was gonna say let's split back should have should have been apparently for me but I know we've been away for 22 years but looks like nothing's changed you don't get these decisions that you know the big grounds at anfield and the etti had and things yeah for me if if that was peny then that then the foul on Leaf was definitely about as well for me I think he can't dive in there I think you got to stand your feet particularly with you know with VAR and everything else you can't make a decision you know you can't give some the referee or the V team a decision to make you got to stand on your feet there um but but again looking at it watching it I still can't C categorically say was a penalty but it was given so it was a penalty whereas the other one I can't work out how it's not given coxy I really for the life of me can't because there's a penalty all day long for me it's stone wall is it not definitely yeah The Challenge on leaf for me was was apparently um there perhaps you know the vir thing was whether it's in or out of the area perhaps but know Le was definitely in the area it was definitely a foul Challenge and definitely AAL to us but you don't get them all the time you don't get there nothing shows your 20 yard years yeah as Mark says glad the first two games are done f are going to be the real meas of where we are in this league and and I think that's what many fans have been saying coxy asn't it you know since this the fixture list really came out but the first two free hits uh see what you can get uh but certainly the season you know and Fulham are no no easy team you know but the season certainly starts from a man city Liverpool in the league above that they are because it is two divisions inside the Premier League if not three arguably but certainly the season starts Saturday onwards is is that something you go along with yeah yeah we look at you know the two teams we played like you said man city are the best team in the country they're they're the current Champions Liverpool last week they've they've won everything time and time again so as much as we like to uh to have got some out of them games and we didn't but yeah you know the the the season the game's coming up now we've got to look to get points or a point you know going forward of these games now we going into the you know Fulham and then we get another bloody International break and then off weo again we then got Brighton Southampton and the Villa at home as well so you know their games got look to try and get something out of okay coxy Before I Let You Go BR Lee anything else you'd like to add that you've not you've not yet spoken about or you have you said everything you came to say no don't really just respect to the ips switch fans today you could hear them above all the you know what what you what call Man City all the sort of you know the prawn s bade there you know they they outs sung them they they're the probably the men of the match today if you can give it to the supporters so well done to the blue Army it's almost like you read you've read my my running order because that was my very next Point uh the fantastic fantastic away falling it doesn't matter if you uh if you listened on the radio however you consumed the game today all you could hear was Town fans so absolutely for and the game as the game changed in um in 20 years that last week you know I've been to Port Roose in Liverpool many times against um against um us and the Liverpool fans never shut up but they were quiet as anything you know a little bit of singing after they scored and today was much better at the the mighty Town one oh well we were in Dreamland weren't we at the start we're in absolute Dreamland when sches went through and scored um my living room we've got there was six of us in there watching the game absolutely mental absolutely mental and then within five minutes we were 3-1 down and I think you know just looking at that that sort of passage of play we had that against Liverpool we had those five minutes against Liverpool where we conceded two goals um and it's something that we've got to get out out out of our game I think um we had it against leads twice last season both home and away where we had a short spell where we just didn't get a grip grip of the game and that and that will happen more more in the Premier League if we don't you know if we don't sort that out but it was a free hit is that the right word I'm not I'm not sure but as a team as a club we will get better with the players that are coming in um but man city I mean they're they're just on a different level levels above aren't they absolutely miles so good to watch like if you take if you take your blue glasses off and and and remove your love you know for town for a minute you know they're a lovely team to watch they they they play with so much I mean they could play the game at half the tempo they play at that's how good they are um but obviously their manager being uh you know such a great manager that he is doesn't allow them to do that and so they they we ar GNA be the first team they steamroll and you know there's every single player put a shift in today you know in a town burgundy shirt for me um we we had our issues in the first half you know you know players make mistakes I think we're we're learning that this level isn't it that the stakes get pounced on very quickly and they're ruthless with when when they come in the Premier League and um and that's that that that's a part of playing arguably you know the country's best best team well well yes yes and yes and no I I I think we were the architects of our downfall I mean particular with mid I mean let's not judge him on one game of course but he was a probably a fault for definitely won maybe two goals I mean you can't I mean the first you know the his first mistake was I mean just you can't he's caught on the ball isn't he um which which happen from the back but but it's been there in the it's been there in preseason it's been there in preseason he's and he's got he's got to learn to know when to kick it but he won't do that I don't think he'll do that will he but I don't that's GNA Ken away that that that this is our style we saw it last year with hki it's easy in hindsight of course but it's not the first it's not the first time that I've seen him hes on the ball and it will take time for him to settle in let's let's let's be so it's not like knocking in taking let's take him out the team I'm you know I'm just seeing the game the game as it is the third goal you know a lot of good goalkeepers would probably pedal back and sit on their six-yard box for the third one so the third one for me is more about decision make it I think again in hindsight we can say well well he could have done that but but I think he could have dropped he could have dropped back with the cover that's that's maybe there so he's he's outside his box he's not going to get the ball and harland's done it so that that's decision making for me so but he recovered from it you know you're fairly what a save he made second half well yes what we did and we tried to play I get that and and all credit to the team they were trying to play trying to play out as best we can um and that you know that that for me is a credit to the team but as as was said in commentary sometimes you've just you know you have got to clear the lines and if it's not on and you're hesitant it's just got to go and just recycle from there but he he will learn hopefully he'll he'll he'll get better with that but schic for me first off St brilliant what a signing he is and he's just shown that you know in in his first half why we've bought him all the players that coming in they're all top draw that 11 players that coming in are well I I I say replace them that's not fair they're all an upgrade on what we already have and that's what you have to have if you're going to progress you you've you've got to have that and smodic is one of those is is one of those players and let's not forget Broadhead of course because on his day he he plays a different game buts for me he's he's got bit more direct that you know that that sort of attitude more directness I think he'll cause a few problems in the Premier League they going to believe us you can't judge against argue with the top two teams in the league and I don't think anybody is judging us against Liverpool Manchester City I'm proud of the boys think they're the best two games that we could have wished for B and blue wasone s negative been we not been disgraced against two class I don't think everyone's negative or everyone's sounding down because their team just lost and I think that's natural when your team loses You know despite the Step Up in quality despite the expectation you're going to get beat um but no I'm very proud of the team this afternoon I'm very proud of the shift they put in I'm very proud of the things they can take forward the positives and one of the positives Lee and you mentioned the new signers there is thep that boy just oozes quality he is absolutely magnificent every minute I watch him I fall further in love with him Lee how did you see his performance today yeah absolutely I'm not sure if he's even brought as a number nine I'm not I'm not sure if he's if McKenna sees him as that but he's got strength he's got power he led the line well but again there was I I think he's still raw and I think he's just going to get better and better but there was a time where he had a there was a through b I'm not sure it's first half or second half I can't remember now where he just just got up he just got that pass wrong and um he did one against Liverpool last week where Omari went through it just went behind him that's hyper critical I get that but I I do agree he's going to be one one hell of a player for us and you know he's got that sort of he's got that flick with his right fo knee that left hand Channel he did it twice twice today he did it last week at Liverpool um yeah yet he's definitely got some somethingone about him but he needs the support around him and it comes back to the you know the real point is you've got to have a foothold in the game and it can't be on the Counterattack all the time at some point you've got to have some some control of the game and I think we'll see that as well we'll see that I I think moving you know you're not going to get much control against certainly against pep guardiola's Man City and and AR slots Liverpool you know that I think we'll see that control come through um and and I think I think you're gonna say that yourself before I jumped jumped in sorry that's good yeah no no totally agree he's a real player and look at all our recruitment our recruitment is not just about having players for now it's about development and I think that's a real key a real key issue of course we want to stay in the Premier League but um I just wonder if there's a bit of if we didn't stay in and I'm not saying we won't but these these players that we're bringing are on Lower wage than what you would get from a established Premier League player so the hunger will always be there and I I I think it's about development of the team regardless of what league you're in and the lap just fits that in absolutely bundles absolutely yeah I completely agree as I said earlier they're a team I really do believe could play at half the tempo they play at and still steamroll teams but you know the management is um so good doesn't allow them to and I just I can't say enough positive things about man city today having you know watch Liverpool and Man City say Liverpool are not cly going to be up there but man city were were levels um that said we did you know we did give give him some give Mees um but there's some really positives you know to take away uh from from the game before I close the show give us some last thoughts on it you know you seen the whole 90 what's your last thoughts I thought the lap was excellent again um that guy's going to be some player for us 100% schmod is a class signing again a lot of people I know a lot of people on socials are doubt want us sign but not many people scor at City especially the had and that man took the only chance we had I said I said last week he was going to be I thought go score stand by it and that's a positive to take away from the game because that's a really nice Counterattack from us we went it on the edge of our 18 Yard Box uh and we spring a counter on man city with speed with uh you know and and with all Direction in terms of where we need to go with the ball and how we're going to hurt you on this on this counter and it's a great run by Samy it's absolutely beautiful he times it well and then he's just got the goal he a beat you know and he beats him however you know it may however long it took to get over the line Josh it beat him and that's yeah that's a really good positive takeway have some in the second half particularly when harness came on and and there was that pinball in in the area just wanted someone there to sort of just fire a shot away right yeah 100% also what we will say is if we do get that penalty and we score it it's a different game in my opinion we get the second goal we get momentum but okay I won't talk about that because you know
