Overcoming Performance Anxiety - Brandy and Ray J: A Family Business

Ray J's Big Plans this way is going to win I'm working hard on my album right now lud I'm ready to go take it straight to the club I got a new house and I'm rolling with my girl I've caught you lying are you okay Ray J is blowing up and growing up plus my sister has the whole world in front of her right now what's up you know there has to be a decision for Dancing With the Stars whether she's going to do it today making a big mistake if you don't do that wow I got to give him an answer mom tell the Dancing with the Stars people yes you're doing it I'm doing it you reaching for the Stars Dancing with the Stars and to be a day away from the first performance it's like I'm I'm losing it because I don't really know how to dance and on top of that I have a very very tough coach walk Max has a method that has worked for him for 20 something years go hard or go home the rehearsals are just grow now spin faster you spin I don't know I'm not confident in the spin what I'm not confident in the spin it's just being silly now singing is my first love it's something that comes very natural for me whereas dancing has never been my strongest point I'm completely out of my comfort zone when I walk back I feel like I'm going to fall every single time and that has not gotten better it won't it won never it won't get better definitely not why not cuz it's like if we didn't get better in 2 weeks this is what it's going to be like can I ask a question no did you come first I need you to digest and comprehend what I said we can't change and can't make anything better or worse right now because we've already done it yeah and it's like tattooed in your brain right now right no I got that in the back somewhere but can I ask a question now sure you know the part where you turn me around see that's a bad question no it's it's about my facial expression I don't know whether to smile while you're turning me smile or when a doubt just smile okay I've never been under this amount of pressure this amount of stress I'm already nervous about performing anyway because I'm not a dancer this is the hardest thing I've ever had to do one two one two one two where is your foot sticking The Pressure of Dancing up now you go there is it what is that dude it wasn't like that it was like like it was like this to go your leg was behind you if it was to the side I would actually buy it but it was here this is a very confusing you got to do what I'm telling you okay cuz right now you hear me and you do whatever you want to do big difference and a huge mistake do what I say I'm really really worried because I keep messing up I can't get the steps the way I need to get them how am I supposed to feel confident to to perform in front of 20 million people if my partner is not having through the ups and the Downs you've learned from your prior year mistakes and you've worked really hard and I give you a great deal of credit for recognizing those mistakes and not making them again this year I'm Wall Street hustling financially planning fiscally responsible and ready to grind swack swack I think you should be proud of yourself a you acquired a principal residence you acquired that home that you so wished that you wanted you acquired that toy in the form of a car you know we allowed within this plan for you to acquire both of those tangible assets which would be my every day and every day not my extra extra there's no such extras in your life anymore but I mean on on on just just just just keeping it real I might get another car new things are happening I'm on my new new I got a new house I got a new album coming out I need a new car did you hear once that we talked about buying a new car in the plan but I mean just keeping it real I'm just telling you what I thought there's no such extras in your life anymore the old Ray J had extras the old Ray J Not only would have felt that need to go out there and bling bling but would have acted upon it this entrepreneurial rayj that you've worked so hard to understand and to conduct yourself like he knows that's not the right Financial move in his life listen this isn't easy for me it's a constant struggle to stay focused I think it's like it's it's my demons I don't know cuz you know how I feel about cars like I'm going good all week or I'm going good for three months and then all of a sudden something inside of me goes bad I'll tell you what why don't you go by the car and then when you have no money at the end of the day because these beautiful ideas keep popping up in your head that you want to go do something just remember that I told you this beautiful portfolio that you work so darn hard for doesn't exist anymore so you choose you want to build this portfolio or you want to go out and waste money on a car forget this car forget it thank you Jonathan that's what I need man you feel what I'm saying because if I don't get that then I'll then I'll convince you and everybody else that it's a good idea you know what Jonathan is right you know what I don't need a new Ferrari I don't need a new Audi or Bentley or none of that it's just not smart any other things before we you I had talk to you though I'm having the hardest time right now for what for ma really he has a reputation for being a little difficult to handle you know we've been rehearsing but it it hasn't who fit your preference right to dating people who fit your priority those are two totally different things if somebody can tell me how the steps to take I'll do it would you really like to know yeah like I performed in front of screaming fans singing on live television before all of that it just feels completely different dancing is not my element I'm just really nervous it's almost like I can't always go away as soon as I start singing I just wonder are they going to go away when I start dancing dancing the Vian WS Brandy and her partner maxing chovsky the weirdest thing is that the butterflies did not go away the entire time I was dancing and there was this voice talking to me like you're going to fall and I'm like oh my God will you shut up seven eight eight it's 23 out of 30 how does that feel I'm trying to tell it's just week one [Applause] save God I was so impressed I was so nervous oh my God cuz Brandon was going through max legs and you know who was looking good after the first performance do you feel at ease now like you like you got over a hump I yeah I definitely feel like I got over a hump but I'm going to tell you like the nerves before the nerves just go all the way to the surface and 20 million people be watching 20 million people y'all being in the audience so glad you got her to do this I definitely felt like after it was over I I conquered one of the biggest fears I've ever felt but the craziest thing is that this is just week one I got a long way to go what would Bruno say I'm told Bruno that you it's like two love bird stealing a moment of passion and a moonlit God not only did my sister kill it tonight she showed me that our career is on the up up and up she's on Dancing With the Stars I got my new album coming we take it over baby
