work in the middle of the field and he's got a man complete and the 49ers are going to have first and goal as they try to finish off this drive with six points 14 nothing the score this is the NFL on from the six to the five all of a sudden those lanes that were there earlier in the drive dry up near the goal line that's a good job defensively to diagnose the run and stop it for a very short pickup and the ball smacked da on the five yd line here's second and goal they'll send one of those two tight ends in motion again maccaffrey and the hole closes quickly here he can fight only to about the four two runs in a row but only two yds to show for it his path became similar to almost running a stretch play didn't it trying to find a crease anywhere to put his foot in the ground and cut back it just never materialized they've been denied touchdowns in the Red Zone twice already here comes third and goal back to throw pie and a big loss here as he's taken down Carl Lawson what a sometimes as a running back you've got to be able to improvise when the holes not where you expect it to be but in this case there wasn't any improvisation that he could do that was going to work kind ways to create space but on that play he did it with that big wide body of his didn't get a whole lot of yardage on the play but it did what it was supposed to pick up a first down [Applause] line of scrimmage the 37 on First and 10 on First and 10 it's Hall and this winds up a gain of four to the 41 I feel like I could see what he was thinking on that carry wanted to follow that big tackle through the hole ended up only getting four yards on the carry I think he had designs on that one being bigger second down and six now I can't play I can't believe they from the gun it's Rogers this pass going to be caught by Hardman he had the touchdown earlier this one's going to get him a first down he kept the receiver in the short field but that let his quarterback get the ball quickly to him before either guy in double coverage could react [Applause] straight ahead is Hall and he's going to get a solid gain of nine before being brought down second and right at a yard good yardage there on first down exactly what you want get yourself set up to keep making first downs keep the clock running and if they're smart you're starting to milk the clock no hurry before you run your second down [Applause] [Music] play from the 41 this is second and a yard on the counter it's Hall and he'll get it inside the 40 to the 39 able to get the one yd he needed but nothing more second and one and people want to run the football this is where every back in the league is supposed to do exactly what we just saw there pick up the first down [Music] here's Hall again and they will only muster a yard here to the 38 defensively we always know that he is tough in run support and I think the way that he gets there is he understands what an offense is going to do before the ball's even snapped a great job of scouting prior to the game then reading reaction and taking the right path to the ball carrier now they'll throw with Rogers and this will go as a gain of seven as he gets it to the 30 yd line was not quable about the gain there on second down that was a positive play because that was a take what you can guess situation got out to the tight end now it gives him much better and that's going to be another first down as the tackle made at the Jets 28 and they'll get 14 yds out of it and a fresh set of downs I think when they look at their offense they think to themselves weapons weapons everywhere and they want to move the ball around they want to spread it to different people but you absolutely know they want to get this man involved as well and that's what they just
