She forever entered the history of world biathlon as she became the first biathlete in history to have the title of three-time Olympic champion. Vilhelm is also a five-time world champion and the owner of a large crystal globe for the 2005-2006 season. What is the former athlete doing now? I want to start with the fact that initially the girl tried to realize herself in cross-country skiing . however, at some point, Wilhelm makes an important decision for himself - to go to biathlon. so in the ninety-ninth year, a German woman retrained from a skier into a biathlete. and at the age of 24 she made her World Cup debut in 2000. By the way, the German debut turned out to be very, very decent. already at the first stage, she gets to the podium. and in the World Championship this season, for the first time , she wins a personal race and takes the title of world champion in the sprint. at the age of 34, the German woman announced that she was leaving biathlon. it cannot be said that in her last season the athlete was still at the peak of her form. but nevertheless, according to the total, she became 7th in all races, finishing in the top 30, three of them with personal medals. Kati Wilhelm is in a relationship with Andreas Esmlander, who is the head of the technical team of the German Ski Association. already in May 2011, a German woman announced that she was in her fourth month of pregnancy. and on November 22, she gives birth to her first child, daughter Lotta. The couple currently has two children. in June 14, when Wilhelm was 37, son Jacob was born. the family lives with the girl's parents in the Thuringian town of Steinbach Hallenberg, where the population is about 5,000 people. after the end of her career, the athlete never said goodbye to the sport. Katya immediately ruled out the coaching direction for herself in order to spend more time with her family. but the German woman accepted the offer from the German channel to become a biathlon TV expert without hesitation. and already in the biathlon season 2010 2011 she tried herself in a new role. Vilhelm also organized a sports youth camp at Kati Camp where she also acts as a host. unexpected for many will be the news that Kati Wilhelm is a successful restaurateur. in 2014 she made her dream come true and opened the Heimatlon restaurant. in his own small town. her establishment is located right in the middle of the Thuringian forest. Heimatlon stands out for its creative cuisine. In a recent interview, Kati Wilhelm said about her brainchild: "We smoke salmon ourselves, we develop our own creations. Our restaurant has a homely atmosphere, a lot of firewood, an open kitchen and a large Italian oven." Wilhelm admitted that the pandemic has left a mark on this area of activity. The restaurant has not been open for a long time. however, they reopened in the summer of 2021 and are happy to welcome guests. What is more, Kati is the ambassador of Thuringia's fun and pleasure. Her task is to promote local products and a sign of the quality of her land. the German has also published her cookbook and often lectures. leaving the great biathlon Kati Wilhelm did not leave the sport. now a woman is trying to combine everything: family, work on TV, sports, an active lifestyle and her own business. When asked what her next goal is, the former biathlete replies: “Like any mother who lives with children, I want to devote more time to myself again. And also become more active in sports. And of course, to collect new ideas for the restaurant.” I sincerely wish for her to succeed
