NFL Playoff Predictions and CFB Week 1 Preview

[Music] we are live welcome back to the third straight day of the West Coast tra podcast we got Daniel we got Rob we got playoff predictions we have finished the regular season we have our prediction it's done we're talking playoffs of course in with the nature of talking playoffs we're only talking about 13 games so we're also talking a little CFB week one it's here tomorrow okay I just technically last Saturday there were also CFB games but tomorrow night look at all these Thursday games we got a full we're eating well we're eating well man eating very well and as a YouTube TV subscriber I get all of these not shout out Comcast uh [ __ ] Comcast right now man anti- shout out Comcast but um anyways yeah look at this schedule man we are it's a rough Thursday night though in terms of there's only one game I really want to watch Colorado NSU I the world is pulling for NDSU oh yeah I gotta watch me some San Jose State sack State too that's that's that's gonna be a fun one that could be a fun one yeah that's a that's almost a Hawaii test yeah it's almost 7M husky Weber State as a Hawaii test godd damn is it a 7:30 game or eight game eight that's a latest game of the week look at that that's brutal that's tough I remember when the apple cup kicked off at 8 a few years ago but in Arizona was at nine oh my f which one was that was that the one at pman that that was that pman it was pass for 700 yards yeah yeah that was the one but I still can't believe some of the numbers we put up under that scheme Mike passing for 700 yards is man [ __ ] the great betrayer man I loved that offense I don't know if we ever would have been as good again as we were this year because Mike really was that special man putting up 700 yards man I bet I bet no F got close to 700 when they put up like 60 something on uh on ASU on ASU actually that might have been Delora because last year last last year no last year they put up how many they put up last year they put up 60 no it's like 200 yards rushing too not 200 but probably like a 100 oh that was a fun apple cup that was when we had a pass rush man who would have thought that losing Jeremiah hunter or um Jeremiah Martin gets rid of all of our pass rush here we go so we like I said we got a full CFB slate that we're going to be talking about we're also going to be picking the top 25 games no we're not picking the Huskies we made a I'm making what's the spread I think it's like call probably pretty big I'm in executive call only top 25 games will make it onto the 27 you know the uh you know who was once at DC at ever state who's that current Huskies D line coach kousi there you go he's a Mormon makes sense I think I think having a Mormon dline coach is going to be good for us yeah especially trying to recruit paully Boys Paul boys exactly so there we go boys but anyways we have some waiver claims to talk about first because there's more NFL roster movement it never really stops so I have a big question yes yeah it doesn't stop this is the only time we care about it really um so the Carolinas had first pick did they only get one player as their first pick or all their CL every single player that hits the waivers they get uh they get to make a call on interesting interesting so so could made a call for me there is Jamie Sheriff you know I feel like if you have a preseason that good you're always going to get somewhere right so that's tough but they're pay they picked up rigan and they're paying him $3 million for that privilege I I don't know what they're doing there man that's a what's his name one of the GM is or thunder Schneider it's not fiter though oh oh yeah not fiter what's his name um D I'm blinking on it the new guy hold on Panthers Dan Morgan Dan Morgan Dan I should know that Dan Morgan honestly I haven't liked NFL hats that have came out for quite some time but I found this one and it wasn't like a one they used much last year like they the league didn't promote for the Lions oh yeah not necessarily waiver wire but like practice squad transaction yeah practice squad veteran acquisition Allan Robinson is going to be on our practice squad and and and get this Jake two years removed from that being exciting Jake prom not Nate sudfeld made the practice squad let's go a seld is officially gone and Jake FR is our third Stringer that one is actually badman's article on their reg their award predictions no votes for Joe burrow for MVP barf but he was the leading vote getter for comeback player of the year so we'll take that Gino has officially destroyed that award yeah no because it's was Gino and then it was flacko back to back years honestly Flaco deserved that one although it's kind of similar of came back from from being bad yeah yeah right why is there needs to be a most improve I me obviously the the way they have in the NBA there needs to be a most improved and there needs to be a comeback Player of the Year been saying this for years but non-quarterback MVP Best Quarterback Award and then it's called offense player of the year they can be Defender too JJ Watt when was the last time a quarterback one offensive player of the year I feel like it's kind of like accepted MVP goes to a quarterback offensive player of the year goes to the best non-quarterback or defense player of the year obviously in the case of like JJ Watt I'd get rid of offensive and defensive player of the year for a non-quarterback award yeah I like that there's something to Crown the best nonke offense player last year's defensive player of the year was a TJ watt no it miles Garrett oh yeah so there you go any other big ones Kenny wongo going to New Orleans is fun there's an interesting thing that I kind of thought about and I TW this out or anything the Seahawks signed already burns the practice squad and say he is going to play week one they did not talk about his injury at all so here's my thinking they cut Ry Burns and teams thought he was hurt wouldn't get claimed and I was kind of a a Gambit there that's that's my thinking maybe didn't get claimed because he's bad I don't know man he he's been getting reused from the Seahawks man uh oh Mike McDonald not evaluate DBS I'm just giving you a hard time at this point I I'm enjoying the troll role I know I'm I I get of the three of us I get to sit in the uh the troll roll the least often want to start actually you know what crystal ball here which of these games gets shoehorned into that early Saturday slot that always is the least viewed oh yeah yeah um not Cowboys the Cowboys are always Sunday afternoon they will always be Sunday afternoon honestly I would say either Seahawks Eagles or Browns Chiefs I see like Browns would get [ __ ] yeah I bet I bet yeah I bet Browns Chiefs the first one so we're gonna start with round Chiefs then um Chiefs yeah that's a pretty easy one yeah there you go um Saturday night now this one could be a little bit more interesting this could I could see them putting Seahawks Eagles on Saturday night um hear me out on this it has been a very long time since the Eagles beat the Seahawks um let me look up this up this record it's been surprisingly long let's see if I can beat you to it 2008 I be do it I'm a winner you have that's that is surprisingly long I'm not gonna lie um they're cursed man they're cursed yeah I think it ends here though we're talking about a 13 and four Seahawks team Eagles team or the Eagles team I mean um I I still can't get it out of my head how they played against the Seahawks last okay but okay that was last year was was two coordinators that are now scrubbing to toets at or it's been it's been 15 plus years since the Eagles be the Seahawks I Matt Patricia was the coordinator DC go with the past predicts the future B see p the upset it's gonna be the Eagles 2008 not me being a hater I we need to be a real 2008 2008 I think I think scatt would pull that upset not even because of the history but there's out usually you get at least one playoff upset and I feel like feel like Mike McDonald could really make a stamp on the team with that game I'll tell you this they're not getting past the divisional okay um Sunday morning this one always gets kind of shootting horned into I think this would probably be Tex Steelers yeah I think Tex Steelers Tex Ste no cowboys Falcons is always Sunday afternoon or Cowboys is always Sunday afternoon wait there's there's three games on Sunday right yeah yeah there's a oh yeah yeah yeah Cowboys will be afternoon then [ __ ] they do a Monday night wild card game yeah um Texans Steelers got to be morning yeah I agree um I think Steelers run ands here Texans feed him here I'm going Texans yeah that's why I said Texans yeah Texans okay I I I miss oh I might I might have worded that confusingly I said Steelers run ends here I'm going Texas oh I heard run into oh no yeah I'm R hands here yeah I agree I I got Texas here I got Houston as well there you go pretty pretty even split or pretty solid split there um then the Sunday Afternoon Of course has to be Dallas Atlanta um match interesting because Dallas might be cursed because Mike McCarthy has to get fired one of these years right but they're gonna lose in humiliating fashion somehow yeah but if there was ever a team that would not be able to take advantage in Atlanta this seems It's like who's I'm I'm going Dallas I'm going Dallas I just feel like they're better team they may have passed the wild card last year right no they got destroyed by Green Bay the year before they did though because they played Tom Brady in the Shell of the Bucks the eight and nine bucks that won the NFC South it's a tough one um I'm going Dallas I like the Cowboys I'll go Dallas it's close but uh it's one of the few playoff games Dallas would win yeah and and we got two two juicy games here it depends on if you think Sunday or Monday is the bigger bigger profile um probably Sunday night Sunday night's probably the bigger profile game I think Ravens bills would get Monday night pack suay night I I agree I agree they lines obviously killed it on Sunday night last year so I bet the NFL would want to run that back um Detroit Detroit wins they finally exercise another demon they beat the Packers in the playoffs they're they're on all right now what do you think Rob I got the lies of course I got the lines here good you guys are making the right choice it's too bad I can't really [ __ ] on Matt with Flur anymore but um and then Baltimore um Buffalo two teams that will inevitably choke in the next round of the playoffs but before that they play each other of course there's two major differences both these teams are chokers but only one of these quarterbacks is a choker and that's Lamar B um Josh Allen is a great playoff performer so he is going to absolutely destroy the Ravens this game I'm think here my thinking here is uh it's probably going to be a snowy game that neutralizes a pass rush so I'm gonna favor the bills here yeah I'm GNA favor Buffalo a little bit it's G to be a bit of a grimy game I think yeah there's Wild Card Weekend then so home teams won on AFC round and then in the NFC home and then two Road dogs so the NFC South is I believe now the only division without a representative yes um the NFC W is two represent Representatives feels weird that miss is in the west man this is a spicy God damn it okay the game that would end up Saturday afternoon cu yeah there's two Saturday afternoon yeah there's a Saturday yeah so it's Saturday afternoon Saturday night Sunday morning yeah Houston Cincinnati would be the Saturday afternoon um you you guys know so you just G out you're picking the Texans definitely no I'm going with the experience um here obviously you know at this point the Texans will have three games of playoff experience but if the Bengals with the bye the Bengals especially under chill burrow have been lights out after by weeks too so um like last year after the byee they beat the Niners by 21 points in in uh San Francisco um get by we this is obviously a rematch of one of the crazier G Bengals games of last season but this time fingers crossed they'll be healthy for it um they weren't really healthy at all last season but say l um yeah I'm pick Bengals I got the Bengals here the play is just so huge all right um we'll put an NFC game in Saturday night oh you gota it's got to be Detroit Dallas in Saturday night Saturday night not Sunday night well they don't have a Sunday night they only have a Sunday afternoon and they always put Kansas City Buffalo and Saturday Sunday afternoon as they get it so yeah that makes sense so Cowboys also I tell you what man lions at four field against these guys we could actually beat wait hold on one quick thought though I just thought about this technically I don't know no could they start a game at noon yeah they could start a game at noon never mind yeah sorry I got sidetracked there because I was thinking like wait West Coast team would they even be able to play the early game on Sunday but I think they'd be fine with that go ahead sorry go ahead with the uh Detroit Dallas here yeah dude I think I don't think I've ever seen they uh well because like the championship sorry we keep interrupting you sorry Daniel um because championship games when like in the NFC if the NFC is the early game and the 49ers were hosting it would be at the same time it's always at noon Pacific time so I don't think seen that too much though a West Coast team kick off for a championship game at noon you want to flip it we can flip it I'm just curious about this scenario I'm trying to think I don't care that much let's just roll with what we got couldn't care less about this it would proba it would probably be flipped in real life they would probably flip these two but doesn't matter so go ahead Daniel sorry yeah I think the Lions beat the Cowboys I think us having the home game Dallas not being able to go to the NFC Championship y that was what I was saying exercise the Demons of that no call Pi yeah I was thinking the exact ex act same thing actually in terms of I I Dallas can't get to the NFC Championship their cursed to never get to the NFC Championship again so guess what this is the divisional round what comes after they're done what what how what humiliating way are they gonna lose the game on this time oh what if they lost it the way that the the Lions lost the game last year that would actually be that would be great that would be great retribution um then we'll say t Sunday after afternoon here San Francisco Seattle I I think them coming off a b is just too much no you already know who I'm picking um Daniel foro which game Seahawks ners San yeah San Francisco Seattle here I think ners coming off is just too tough and then we've got Chiefs bills a game that will inevitably be a fantastic game but will it just be the same result as it always is I don't think this bills team's going to beat him no this is probably the worst Bills team they've had going up against the Chiefs and I think the Chiefs are better than last year yeah I think the Chiefs got what man I'm gonna be fun and I'm gonna say the bills are GNA win just for the hell of it they they're finally going to get over the hump they're going to get over the Kansas City hump it's time they will for sure guys after what six years of the same [ __ ] it's all right guys we'll get it this time they'll get it this time they even had the home game last year and they still couldn't get it done oh man Kansas City Josh Allen dude 1,000 yard game not even kidding there you go well we got two we got two one two games then um which is always boring but it's also always probably to be expected um so I believe it would be the NFC game that goes first this year yeah because they flip every year so the NFC championship here hey guess what Detroit at San Francisco it's a rematch time for retribution mean the Lions do the Lions go to their the Lions go to their first ever Super Bowl I'm with it I'm also Pi Lions they should have won last year they should have won last year I think they've learned from their mistakes and I think they little better they were last year too and it's a worst n or Senor right so first time you admitted to that I never said they weren't worse I just don't think they're like a ton worse I don't think there's so much worse that they fall off you don't believe in a Super Bowl hangover somewhat but um on the other side of things you've got the the dynasty versus the only team that's ever really posed a roadblock in the AFC since Brady left obviously um this time Hat's going to Cincy again I have to pick with my brain and my heart oh not my no take my heart out of it RI my heart out of my chest throw it away pick with my brain I Bal take it I'm but again you can have V me yeah I'm going Chief I just they just seem so Unstoppable it's they seem that way but I mean if Lamar Jackson didn't [ __ ] the bed the Ravens would have beat him feels like everyone shits the bet against them B Le sake of potential retribution I need to take the Chiefs all right well you know what we picked the B mean that means he saying he doesn't believe it's going to happen what that means actually I mean we picked the Bengals one Super Bowl last year and they didn't even make the playoffs because they got so hurt so hey there you go I'm actually I should be thanking you guys um Daniel CAU you know I I want the Bengals to win that game I I have no doubt about what we want to happen um I it's just they feel I I know what Daniel's doing because the Bengals haven't beaten the Lions or sorry the Lions haven't beat the Bengals since 1992 he knows what he's never knew that oh I didn't actually know that I was just saying you know we had the Chiefs we should have played the Chiefs in the Super Bowl last year and I want wanted to get an actual opportunity this year yeah wasn't anything ciny I just really it would be pretty fun for me to be the tiebreaker between the Bengals and lions though yeah it would have been but that's okay um again I think we just prevented cursing the Bengals again like we did last year so I actually shouldn't be that mad we cursed the Bengals last year so honestly should make them the worst team in the league this year be careful with this pick Daniel we cursed the Bengals last year so BR I don't take this [ __ ] serious man hey man whatever happens this season is just gonna happen so [ __ ] it man you only live once give me the [ __ ] Lions we're gonna win the Super Bowl this year and I'm gonna be the happiest [ __ ] person on this planet if you would have told me a coup years after 15 years bro of watching the shittiest football franchise of all time finally have a good couple of seasons and we actually get a ring out of it bro it's way better than Chicago Cubs from a few years ago this will literally be the second greatest sporting story of all time only behind the leester city winning the Premier League story from 2016 I don't know man the Cubs went like 110 years hey man but baseball and American Sports have a lot more parody because of the way they're structured than European Sports do that is true I'm talk well you said the Lions above the Cubs though dude cuz it's the tiebreaker if you would have told me this a couple years ago that Jared Goff playing for Dan Campbell would be in a Super Bowl I would never I would laugh at you but here we are you did laugh I remember when Jared Goff spent his first year in Detroit and you were laughing at me about Jared Goff and how Dan Campbell's a bozo a coach I remember you wanted him cut some games I remember we liveed but I'm a fan I have a right to get emotional yeah no you I I I always thought Dan Campbell was a good coach I just I was a golf hater I was a golf hater I'll give I'll give you that um cuz I felt like he was a salary dump uh to be quite honest to be honest some Lions fans honestly I kind of thought that too for a little bit once Jared G got a confident offense around him in 2022 he definitely played a lot better I'd be so excited to watch the Lions o line versus a Spagnola Super Bowl game plan I think that would be a lot of fun to see happen sounds like easiest match up on the planet I mean spola is the guy who beats someone who's singlehandedly watched Chris Jones and Frank Clark and Steve sagnol take a AFC Championship away from the Bengals a few a year and a half ago is not easy also the refs but that's a different spago is the architect of uh being Brady 17 and0 Brady man I know this the Detroit Lions as the greatest franchise in American Sports have gone into Arrowhead twice in the last two years and won both times I I don't one of them was preseason we still did it for that I'm picking against them I'm kidding kiding uh I think the Lions pull out some ridiculous trick play and that's the decider for a win Lions host it baby oh there we go sorry Dan we just we literally just cursed the lion so bad dude I don't [ __ ] care man all right draft order draft order draft watch my team be go through so much [ __ ] I don't care man I just want to have fun that's fair that's fair also and I just occurred to me that I didn't even think about this till just now it's a really good thing the West Coast draft podcast wasn't a thing back in that the second Bengals Chiefs AFC Championship because it would have been pretty that day oh I remember it I remember it I got my last laugh for calling Joseph say osai bad in the draft process and he's not bad he got's picking first but they have their native pick but they actually have their pick this year oh look at that backto back NFC South teams here Patriots picking third again Tommy's fourth Broncos fifth thanks to that Tai um Titan six cards seven marginal Improvement Chargers eight Colts nine Giants 10 that top 10 where where where does uh Carson Beck go here I don't know who's the top pick man I don't know I but just top quarterback top quarterback I don't know if he's the top quarterback I don't disagree actually I like when you where the to quarter probably I'd say New Orleans prob New Orleans yeah you probably also see if Will rup this year Tennessee um wow that would be the year trade up for QV Giants hey look at that there's three teams that could potentially take quarterback my preol season stuff I would have viewers ahead personally but I think it's close the Jets here at 12 do they trade up Rams could trade up too depending on Stafford health and age obviously he could be retired this time in the year for all we know Giants Jets Rams Raiders bucks I think they're kind of tied to Baker especially if they go nine and eight again it's that's enough to keep Baker I think BS barely miss out here BRS no actually it's not no they can't be the Browns because they keep pushing this Sean Watson cap hit down the road so far that they are literally tied because they keep rest here's the thing about restructuring deals and uh everything like that eventually it's gonna bite you so the Browns fans can be like oh we can just restructure Deshawn's deal and it's not going to impact our cap our our cap situation we can still go out and sign guys this year yeah yeah what happens in 2027 when you have a 160 million in dead cap and that's not an exaggerated number that's real that's real um I mean look at the Saints they're doing just fine right exactly um the Browns are screwed um is what I'm trying to say which I always like to uh remind people of let's see here let's let look at this exact number here we go 2025 um dead cap let's see cap hit oh yeah here we go so yeah cap hits the next few years of because they keep pushing it cap hit this year in 2025 and 2026 of 64 million each year um and then they've got a void year in 2027 that they threw on there but they could always of course extend they could that they're going to restructure again because it seems like that's all they like to do um so that 2027 void year he Pro he won't be on the roster and there is a very very good chance that they are on the hook for a hundred plus million dollars for a quarterback not on the roster so that's fun good job Andrew Barry go win your GM of the Year award again see how that works out for you meanwhile the rest of us actually have quarterbacks that know how to throw a [ __ ] football okay um oh and not a soul women oh there you go okay last one okay no more shots at Sean Watson they're fun to take and easy to take but that's my last one I promise um Falcons Packers Ravens Steelers Eagles oh do the Ravens snipe a Ste Steelers guy here I feel like that's always fun when an AFC North team has a chance to snipe a uh Steeler that's always fun um Eagles who does seaw take at 26 Rob sir what' you say oh I said who's SE take 26 make a call now oh gosh who that Georgia linebacker there's a couple of them I could probably tell you though um a linebacker in the first round really I think we BR 26 oh that is true that's a good point um smil mondon chalon Walker M and Walker the two yeah one of them uh or Edge rusher take a Lineback take Danny stman true that is a good one um that's a really good question maybe we could be Target in a tackle maybe a tight end I don't know I don't think we're in quarterback range I mean if you ask me if my dream it would be getting Quin yours but mhm I don't think we're going to be in range if we're picking 26 I like it I like it um all right in that case next up here bills at 27 Cowboys at 28 Bengals picking at 29 has to be interior defense lineman um he probably won't be available but I want
