Mariners and we'll be back with the first pitch right after [Applause] this just about set to go now the starting piter in this one Logan Gilbert and singy he likes pitching at home well truly for him there is no place like home he's been so dominant here and as a teammate you expect him when pitching at home this year to go out and dominate just as he has the fans expect it and I think everyone around here knows that he's a good pitcher even though we don't see the same splits on the road we're going to start to see that translate as well as he turns on the rubber with that good live arm delivers Fitzgerald in now takes ball one off the plate the one fou off down the right [Applause] side the one to one and downstairs two ball one strike swing and a miss and the count is even two and two kicks and fires way [Applause] high ripped On A Line to Center Rodriguez makes the grab one away now we take a peek at the Giants lineup and probably their most productive player so far this year Tyler Fitzgerald Tops on the team in batting average boo a guy who's showing off some excellent batto ball ability when he digs into at the plate you know that's useful if your team needs to get an inning going get a leadoff man on but it's also incredible to have a guy like that in the lineup because he's a run producer who can drive in runs if you got guys on base already so he's a huge piece in this lineup one down base is empty nope that's inside there's a swing and a drive and it stays Fair makes the turn and heads for second and he starts his afternoon off right with a double couldn't have timed it up any better than that solid swing from start to end on time with everything really good balance nice extension and he made it out front for the line drive knock here's Elliot [Applause] Ramos that one finds the zone that strike one Cana leads off second with one gone in the inning edge of the zone for a strike and it's nothing in two dangerous spot for that slider right there didn't seem to quite finish out front and get that sharp break tell you what he doesn't want to throw that pitch again next one misses and the count one and two it's a good take [Applause] [Applause] kicks Sans BS it off still one and [Applause] two and the right-hander deals and a swinging a miss and there's two away gets talked about a lot but a good high fast two strike situation it's just become such a problem for hitters in more recent years with all of the emphasis by pitchers on developing that spin rate having a good grip on the baseball those High fast balls they kind of look like to The Hitter that they're Rising even though they're not but they're not decreasing in velocity and spin rate so very difficult to get the barrel on it [Applause] man on second two down Chapman gets a piece [Applause] there and here it comes swing and a miss and he chases that one in the dirt and it's in time for the third out so that'll end the inning so one hit is they get on to the bottom of the first no score after a half [Applause] in back here with my pal singy Towing the slab in today's game Logan web Chris what should we keep an eye on here with him yeah and as whip tells you he's been pretty effective this year on the mound I mean opposing hitters have a hard time getting and then being able to distract him and damage in terms of getting around the base path so we're taking the this is a guy you want out there if you're his teammate and I expect him to be good in this one Lukey leading things often takes a [Applause] strike CHS the swing appeal to third yes he did that's a [Applause] swing left hand batter waights that misses now one and [Applause] two swung on beled mcra going back and he makes the catch on the track just missed a homer that time and now we check out the Mariners lineup not a whole lot going their way offensively the last few games Chris yeah Bo and that can put more pressure on the pitching staff to try to limit the opponent to just one or two runs a game knowing that their offense is not scoring right now and that never really works well because you try to be too fine and you end up giving up a lot of runs so we'll see if everybody can just relax bring things together and perform it the level that they're capable of one out base is empty that one to First and he takes it himself for the out he didn't recognize change up earlier enough got out and fr a little bit rolled over on it and beat it into the ground two out spes empty Cal righ up next for the Mariners this is a guy who is very highly guarded defensively fun to watch him control stuff behind the plate Good Game caller good at framing but it's that big arm that really stands out yeah and because he's got the big arm he pays attention to the running game and is sure to manage it and a foul ball when you have a catcher that can throw like that a pitcher doesn't have to worry as much about the slide step he can keep his mechanics intact and have a better opportunity of getting that hitter out with a swing and Miss Ry checks his swing appeal down to third nope he held back two out bace is empty that one close rule the ball and the count is two and two that's to third gets to it with a slide gathers and throws and that's a great play for the out we'll head to inning number two at T-Mobile Park no score back in Seattle the right fielder they're so tough to do anything with as a hitter the pitch and that one fouled off and another ball the played inside full countdown close pitch there and he's kind of wondering where it missed you know getting a feel for each umpire strike zone is something that pitchers and hitters really have to think about and work on from game to game and sometimes from it back to it back looks like he's picked up right where he left off W that was a tough slider right there he couldn't get a piece of it just to try to keep the atat alive and hits will tell you that slider when a guy's able to really tunnel the pitch where it looks like a fast and then late has a really good bite so tough to lay off of because you've made the decision you don't want to get beat by a fast ball and then you swing and you miss you go back to the Dugout shaking your head Tyro Estrada to the plate and first off ring is fouled off the line in the pitch foul ball there this is a batter who clearly performs better in Day games I don't know why but his numbers generally back it up and one and two two straight would chase that [Applause] time popped up snags it for the second out that was a good pitch to hit right down the heart of the plate had pretty good timing on it just got underneath it a little bit and popped it up two out bace is empty Casey Schmidt the next giant to hit Schmid measures 6 Fe 2 in first one gone hammers that one deep left field and forget it a massive home run and they cut into the deficit it's 4-2 singy he's been waiting for this moment to finally come well we knew it would come eventually and I wouldn't be shocked to see him going a nice little run at the plate hitting some balls out of the ballpark got that monkey off his back just an excellent swing all the way around going back pulls it in on the warning track every day during batting practice these outfielders get about 10 minutes of balls in the gaps they practice this and when the game comes they make the play perfectly here's Kurt Cali he's already Homer to this [Applause] game swings here and blast one left field a Ros Arena going back back gone another Homer his second home run of the game and they close the gap it's 53 oh that one got in the jet stream on a line drive we saw the number on the backs of the jerseys of the outfielders which is usually bad news and all of a sudden they're back in this ball [Applause] game so two away with nobody on now here is Grant McCrae they tried to get him to chase on a slider down it away the M's holding on to a two-run lead here in the top half of inning number seven in there and so now one and two no there's a pitch we haven't seen in a while it's going to be tough on the hitters if he can mix that in whatever he wants keeps the back going with a foul ball two down no y bounced to the right side and that is the inning the Giants get one back with a solo shot it's now 53 it's Major League Baseball on the show we're back in a new pitcher here to start the bottom of the seventh Hayden bira pretty tight game so they're looking for Quality pitches out of them right here got to his best to keep the score right where it is Leonardo Reas digs in close there's not much margin for error but at the same time there's a reason they're put in these situations now it's the short stop Tyler Fitzgerald the short stop Tyler Fitzgerald the pitch it's good speed at the top of the order here you want to get it on see if you can get a stolen base maybe get around the bases and pick up a run the one that's inside no [Applause] strike and the pitch here's a swing and a drive left fiiled and he knew [Applause] it and that should quiet this home crowd it's 54 just Relentless this team will not quit can be pretty dangerous when you fall behind in the count 2 you still got to try to find a way to keep that hitter off bals well he wasn't able to do it there The Hitter did a nice job of turning that pitch around not missing it in a hitter's count pitch over the years and what's so tough as a hitter is that you see it extremely well the problem is the velocity and spin rate just happens to Jump by you you expand your Zone you don't stay tall on the backside and you're really not even able to make contact if you do many times it's a popup and now here is Elliot Ramos and that's in there for strike one trying to hold a one run lead and we're there there's a strike all right now he may have not liked either of those first two pitches or agreed with the umpire's calls but at this point he's going to have to bear down and be ready to hit to look like a strike the entire way coming in and then just disappear so hard to get under the ball unless you're really gearing up for it and you might need a pitching way so two down now and here good first match up for him here he's been doing a great job against right-handed so far this season they've had a lot of trouble squaring High [Applause] the pitch the stri in the box now takes strike one oh one count next one is off the plate and the count even one and [Applause] one and that's in for a strike liner to Second and picked on the hop in plenty of times first now one gone in the ninth that play won't be training on social media later on but it's still important to execute it to Perfection this game is a lot harder than it looks partner he's two outs away here's the third can he possibly do it again come on man of course he can those two he hit were legit and he looks pretty locked in right now at the dish [Applause] first offering misses badly for ball [Applause] one just missed crowd locked in right now one run game here in the ninth next pitch is outside big pitch coming right here last thing he wants to do is put the tying run on base but he can't groove on either and there's the automatic that was absolute gas triple digits on the gun it's just a different experience as a hitter watching that go by on the ground and this should do it having himself a really nice game the play timing on the swing was good able to shoot the ball up the middle didn't squ it up as much as he probably would have liked but that's a good approach paying off so now pinch
