e e e e e e e e e e and we are here live at pal Davis Stadium tonight for the the crosssectional I guess you would call it matchup Interstate matchup between the Venice Indians and the Mii Northwestern Bulls I'm here with my partner Trey Burton and Trey uh a little rain going on here tonight we've had a I wouldn't call it a I wouldn't call it a golly washer I call more like a normal afternoon shower in in the end of August for Florida uh affect the field a little bit a little slippage we'll see what happens but uh hopefully we'll have a good one tonight I think we're going to have a good one no matter what um almost Rivals would you call would you call us Rivals yes I would say that over the years we've built these sort of I don't want to call them mini rivalries but like rivalries that um you that that that they matter in in the grand scheme of things in the state this is this is a game that's going to be watched by an enormous amount of people across the state because you got number four Venice number 10 Northwestern and it it's it's one of those where that you figure out who's the the guy who's going to be the team that uh that steps up and moves up in the rankings a little bit Yeah State Powerhouse for a state Powerhouse and so it should be a really good one we'll see what the weather does tonight it should clear up here pretty soon you agree I think so I think we I think we just got a little bit of a of a little burst of of of rain and now it's sort of going to drizzle itself out and I think by the time get about the maybe the middle to the late first quarter we should see the rain all all gone and I think this is one that the Venice faithful has been waiting for for this whole entire off season coming into the season so should be a really really good one for us and it really because because again it's not too often I mean you you again if you're a high school football fan in the State of Florida you know of Miami Northwestern and and their tradition and so for them to come here and and play us and we've gone down to trasp which is a historic place to play football down in Miami uh it's kind of cool that this that this game is just not one of those hey throw it in there games this game matters it matters a lot and it'll matter in in the grand scheme of things as we move forward and at the end of the day you always want to protect our home field so we'll see how the boys react tonight I would imagine they're going to come out fired up um and it should be a really really good one for us tonight no doubt No Doubt with this with that we're going to go ahead and go to uh the pregame show that I or pregame interview I did with Coach peacock earlier this week and when we get done with that we'll come back and talk a little bit more about we what we expect to see from Miami Northwest and of course the Venice Indians back here right after the interview with Coach peacock and welcome to the Venice Sports Network pregame show here with Coach John peacock Venice Indians and Coach uh tonight's game know Miami Northwestern Bulls come in uh very highly rated uh perennial power in the State of Florida uh what can we expect from Venice and little bit from what they expect from Miami Northwest well you know one thing we don't want to get into is a a shootout you know last week was we had enough of that we want to make we want to play a little bit better defense and and get some stops so you know looking forward you know we have a little bit tough tougher task at hand this week with uh with the the Miami Northwestern Bulls they got a really good quarterback um they got two of the top receivers in the state which one one of them is really one of the top receivers in the country uh that's 6'5 and can run and jump he played a little bit of quarterback last year but's hard Runner too I mean not just fast but he hard to bring down and he's a he's a he's their main receiver and he's a mismatch problem because just because of his height so you know we want to we really want to focus on let getting some stops early and and hopefully putting the ball back in our hands so we can we can get get out in front of them which we don't we don't want to find ourselves into a uh you know 4242 game in the fourth quarter type deal it's tough and one thing I will say from last week's game I know you want to improve on the penalty situation yes that's one thing that we have been harping on and trying to correct is is the penalties and um you know you know penalties you know are twofold for us one one is we're losing yards and we're not gaining yards and but but two is we're stopping the game and we're preventing ourselves from creating our Tempo that we like to create so every time there's a penalty there's a stoppage in play a discussion you know when we can when we're penalty free and we're rolling U that's the best way we like to like it on the other side of the ball like there was there was a drive where we went they went would have went would have went three and out three times but there was a penalty on the third down and so you you did your job three times except somebody you know did something silly penalties extended it you know we we gave up a couple fake punts you know so we got to do a better job defensively getting off the field and um offensively we got to do a better job of not getting penalties and keeping drives going and creat on Tipo yeah so somebody asked about the penalties I'm like no legitimately I would say that 80 85% of them were not you know you could have question some things here and there but nonetheless they they were legit there was no doubt about that yeah so anyway offensively last week I thought the I thought the most improved player from Dennis was Jay Nixon a quarterback not cuz he had done anything wrong before that but it looked like he really projected a lot of confidence and Leadership at a quarterback position where it's obviously necessity to be that way yeah I think you'll see I think you'll see continued growth this week um and we we've got some different things in that I think we can take advantage of offensively and some some stuff in our passing games that we felt like we can take some advantage of of against Northwestern so you know you you'll see him being a little bit more decisive and U the more more reps and the more live competition he gets the more comfortable he's going to see it felt like the tip of the iceberg last week like you could see like you saw all the pieces they they were in there but there's so much that everybody can do and there's a lot to go on the defensive side of the ball last week Landon Marsters had a coming out party of of his own 16 tackles lot of in the back field very disruptive so and aari Charles also had a game where he was very disruptive as well those two guys again are going play a big part of what's going to happen and Ben Ben zarck played a really nice game did a nice job but yeah Landon I think Lon had two or three tackles for losses big tackle for losses um and then ashari you know played with unbelievable effort like just the effort he played with on a snap out this you know every single snap was unbelievable came with a big turnover um just because of effort effort play you know causing a fumble so uh both those guys had had big nights I thought also secondary I thought the tackling in the secondary was very good you had a four-star kid going to Oregon who could could run and and but he didn't have a lot of after catch stuff so that's good to see what that that they're not going to let guys just you know catch the ball and and take off downfield um one other thing the third phase of the game special teams our our buddy Brun Royce a lot of kicks last week and know that's that's a good thing but it's like 10 kickoffs all n out of 10 in the end zone for touchbacks and then nine for nine for unfield goals I mean extra points yeah and he we just missed a 52 y yeah um little wide right wide right yeah uh so he's he's he's he's a perfectionist so um he you know he's definitely a bright spot when we're kicking off and you can just kind of just go sit down and yeah you wait for him it's get the ball at the 20 it's really really great can be a little demoralized and get a touchdown score against in you're at the 20 every single time every time yeah no doubt about it well coach good luck for tonight you know it's going to be a I think of a very hard for for game I think it's going to be a very entertaining game I think everybody uh great job again by the band they're doing all kinds of new stuff this year they're coming out with different formations and off the on the field in different manner so good for them they they've are getting ready to come out for the Indians it is number 73 Anthony Tanica number four Ryan mulich number 10 Eli Jones and number 15 that is Mr burelli Merck barelli so that's the Indians I've not seen L Northwest oh they're coming around the band so here we go so we got I think I see 77 that's romarius uh Turner and then you have number 11 that is Jason farfan those yellow numbers are really hard to oh they're going to be hard all night yeah I believe we got a spotter tonight so that's a great thing for us yes Jeff is going to spot so I'm going to trust him no matter what he says I'm going to say it so that's good um I'm going to say looks like three dean Angelo Thompson and I haven't got the fourth guy but we'll get him some we'll get some credit here in a little bit um but we talk earlier about the two teams traditionally being powerhouses in the state and everything else but this year uh uh coach peacock had told me during the interview that I did with him on on Tuesday night that it's uh you know both teams are going to be as talented as they were last year um he said luk Mii Northwest and seemed that they were they were on film looked a little more disciplined and not from a not from a attitude perspective but just like with their assignments and whatnot like that and the Indians uh big Improvement uh from game from game zero which is the kickoff classic to game one I think you can attest to that too no I agree and I mean this is Teddy Bridge wogger first year as a head coach at Miami Northwestern they had an off year uh last year obviously the talent is never lacking at Miami Northwestern so uh it's fun to see Venice you know go down there and play and then now Miami coming up here to play and so uh I would imagine you know a fast race game tonight yeah I think a lot of points as well I I didn't avoid saying the name Teddy Bridgewater because that's obviously the the guy that a lot of people have their their eyes on tonight because uh leaves the NFL and goes directly into high school football coaching that's sort of a interesting move I don't know if that's something that you see a lot of guys that take a little time you know enjoy a little retirement before they throw themselves into a kind of a a fast-paced a timec consuming job like high school football coaching yeah and I think like when you think of Teddy you know he's been a really good player in the NFL for a long time he was a backup he was a starter he's seen you know the whole entire spectrum of the NFL so he has so much knowledge to pass on to these kids and so I think a lot lot of it especially in this first year you know how much these kids Buy in to his system um to what he's seen uh how much they respect him and then it's only going to continue to grow from here on out right right like I said and he he's not taking over a program that was that was uh lacking anything he got he got involved with a Lamborghini you know compar to what it is so he's got he's got some players and uh I think one of the things too I think I would say from perspectively that you have to look at like he's used to playing with a certain level of talent all positions and in high school you're you're going to have talent but you don't know you maybe a play there or something you think could work can't work at this level it doesn't work properly at this level because they're just not capable of it just yet so and I think a lot of it in high school you have to shape and mold these kids that have all these all this Talent right you have to shape and mold them into the player that you think they could potentially be by the time they are a senior and by the time they get recruited you know by college uh school so and we'll see you know only time will tell you know how well of a coach he is and how good of a job he's doing yeah there's no doubt about that and I can tell you what if he thought doing a good job people down in Miami are going to let them know about it pretty quick they're they don't have a lot of sympathy for their coaches and they they they want they expect winners and and and and rightfully so I mean Miami is probably if not the number one hotb in high school football as far as talent and Co and teams are concerned they're they're in the top three if if if you can find another place I'd be surprised alens came out uh a little less Fan Fair tonight with the weather thing kind of uh putting a damper on some of the pyot Technics and whatnot and here comes the Miami northwestern's bowls with that we'll take a quick timeout come back opening kickoff and our commercial that we just had on right before we came back uh the high school football Venice High School football golf tournament which is next weekend yeah moved up a little bit uh because of some some uh opportunities to get a little better timing and everything else so we do that but great big fun great fundraiser a lot of fun you've been involved with it for for the last few years as well and I've been involved with it for a long time also and it's a never it never it never disappoints I can give you that no I agree it's so much fun and I think we've come in second so many times that I would love to come in first here eventually at some point I'm I'm joking we we're my team is usually so bad we're usually at the bottom but uh it's usually a lot of fun but it it is a tournament where you have a lot of fun so that's there's no doubt about that so hope hopefully uh you all get to enjoy it uh next whoever is playing it and we'll have some maybe we'll have a little conversation about it next week mom Northwestern again getting set the kick off kicker it looks he's number 30 something number 32 Ethan Silva will be the uh the kicker and back de for the Indians number one Winston Watkins and it's deep enough to get into the End Zone on one hop so Venice will take over first and 10 at the 20 yd line and uh last week Trey Jas Nixon came out and and uh really had a nice performance uh move in charge of the team putting the ball where it needed to go hopefully he can repeat that uh this evening man he looked so comfortable in the pocket uh through a lot of strikes right the only incompletions that I remember were guys that dropped the ball um threw the ball where it needed to be thrown I would imagine tonight a little bit of a different story just because of how wet it is and probably going to run the ball a little bit more but um you can't go wrong with the two running backs we have yeah and there's no doubt about that yeah the weather is going to be there's going to be a little bit of an effect you can't dry the field obviously it's going to the ball's going to be wet the entire night and let's see if that uh oh there we go the first one right at the bat goes a little high and uh romeris Wilder put his hands on it and came back recovered by number 50 that would be uh Jamari pick of line but but with 50 something close enough we're good 53 maybe it's DeAndre wheeler I think so that would be the situation there so what Venice tried to do was snap the ball to the running back and it looked like uh Gator it just went through his hands and that's a slippery ball I mean that I mean it was a hot snap y very hot snap so mommy Northwest with unbelievable field position in the 13 yd line Venice Indians I mean it's almost like they got the kickoff and almost returned it for a touchdown you know early in the game I'm not sure that would be where I want to go with the first play no you're going to hear a lot of us talk a lot about the guy up top number five they no they almost try to throw it to him so number 12 the quarterback that is Leon strodder and he was brought down the play I'd say by for a loss by number five Asar ashari Charles but you're going to hear us a lot talk a lot about number five Calvin Russell Jr um he's actually a junior in high school and he's a massive kid probably one of the best high school recruits for the following year not this year but the next year um supposedly he played quarterback last year for a little bit yeah it seems like he can play at all but just an unbelievable Talent yeah if you you read his his profile and it it's it's about as good as you can get as impeccable for what they're expecting from him so a loss of one brings up second and 11 from the in 14 yd line and have a bunch of guys pursuiting and then you great Inside Out tackle right there so another loss of one third and 12 from the 15 I got to think the ball's going to go in the air here Trey I mean you got you got great field position you don't want to you don't want to waste it if you can and you need 12 yards for a first down and 15 for a touchdown what I would imagine Northwest going to do all night is going to have five Russell up top on the screen oneon-one so Venice is playing man here uh they're going they're going to Zone they were prepared for whatever they did cuz they were all calling out the defense so I looking looking looking and overthrows number seven that is the Saint Joseph Jr so fourth down and I think they are going to go for the field goal so that's that's a victory right there for the indan defense coach Shan's going to be happy with that yeah and it kind of shows you how prepared venice's defense is for whatever look Northwestern throws at him you know they went to they they motioned to empty so Venice defense checked to the empty check whatever they wanted to do for today and um had everybody covered yeah no doubt that was that was a heck that's a heck of a play on that's a heck of preparation I should say for the Venice defense running a guy out late on the field goal oh it's blocked looked like Eli Jones number 10 blocked the field goal it's going to be a 32 Y and he got up there where he got his hands up and made it made a nice uh it looks like it hit him kind of low in the arm when he when he hit it too so huge defensive stand for the Indians I mean what a what a horrible situation they walked into and they're able to come out with no points on the board so now the balls at the 12 I thought it would get I thought it would go to the 20 if guess May different with a block I'm not going to lie I didn't even see the ball did it go in the end zone the ball did no no it's they said they're going to they have to figure out yeah they their coaches are going down there uh Mr clayber now there he's telling coach peacock that should be back to the 20 yard line it's not a spot foul that a spot situation that the ball should be at the 20 oh there's a there's a flag on the field though on the 30 yard line too many guys four something going on yeah too many guys in the field for Miami so they're going to wave it off cuz they're probably going to say no play at this point let's see what they do so Eli Jones with the block kick they call it time outwest did oh okay and they're still not I guess they're not going to give him the uh the 20 on this I thought no matter what if I guess it didn't go through the endzone maybe that's the situation but um I always thought it went back to the 20 so maybe the interpretation was uh was wrong they're they're talking they they're they're not you know they're they're communicating with each other so I guess seems like the Venice coaching staff is is okay with it now but again like you said big play you know that that's game like tonight obviously you saw two things that are going to play a huge part in it we had a turnover right off the bat when we had a special teams player off the bat those are always critical in games of of this magnitude it's almost as if we didn't even play offense right like Lally like the first play done on defense so we'll see what we have called here so first and 10 at the 12 going to to the Wildcat that is Wilder on the on the carry brought down by number 14 Desmond Johnson give him four be second and six and a lot of times when you come out with a exotic you know formation this being Wildcat you trying to see what the defense lines up in and what you might be able to get him in later on in the game uh Watkins keeps it and he might have a chance when he takes it up to about the 49 yard L of man West and talked down by number four Javari flowers but not before a big run and a first down for the Indians great block by 35 36 there that's Kane Json great block so it's up to the actually they get him to the 47 of Northwestern so first and 10 Indians hand off [Music] to is that Wilder that's Wilder yeah so Nixon's back there at quarterback yeah they went they they're out of that stuff so now we're at uh they gave him six yards second and four you see venis with three wide receivers down here at the bottom just to see what Miami oh oh oh an interception ball was intended for uh Watkins and picked off by number one that's uh towan Cox flag on the play it was it was tipped at the line of scrimmage and tipped by Winnie and then uh right in the hands of of number one Cox brought down by tan where's the flag on the play oh we got a face mask penalty on on Venice on the on the tackle so that'll be a 15 Y Man two straight drives bro you know turnovers kills you man absolutely kills you yeah you can't win the you can't win a game on a turnover battle no especially get a good team man like this like you can't give the ball over so that was first and 10 now at the 48 yd line from L Northwestern see if they come out with a little bit more diversity in their attack here handoff now to that's number nine that's uh King Davis again on the tack on the on the [Music] Run Bryant and that's barelli on the tackle I mean from an offensive standpoint you gain eight yards in your first play you got a a good thing going you want to do that all day second two at the 44 yd line of Venice and enough again to Davis this time it's a Shari Charles on the tackle but I think he got the first down going give him two on that one and be a first down for the Bulls and the sh is a guy we're going to be watching all night what an unbelievable player his hustle is second to none on the defensive standpoint and his talent is really really good he might be one of the most talented defensive players we have on side of theall he gets his motor going he gets into the he can he is tough to stop and I think last week he if you mentioned how he pursued down the line so nicely in some of those plays especially when he got going in the second half first and 10 Bulls Indian 42 yd [Music] Line St hands off to Davis again this time Eli Jones leads the tackle along with Marsters having a good amount of success on the run early on in the down the last couple plays I remember last week when uh they were running all over us in the first half and then we came out Venice came out and had a little change up uh a little Audible for the run and we were able to shut it down pretty good against Tamp Bay Tech yeah no doubt I I and I think the defense you know I can there crucial that they that they can get into a flow as well offense got the ball with the with little with the run there so see if they can keep that up see how see how this how this drive ends up here stter again has something D he keeps it himself this time has a little room on the left side brought down by Charles but not before picks up a first down really good play design a lot of like confusion going on in the back field from the defensive standpoint got a guy going to the right you got a quarterback coming off the back you got a running back running to the right there a lot of a lot of uh like eye candy they call it yeah and I will tell you this that you know having that the success a two three you kiding some yardage you know stter keeps it and you know you get that that over Pursuit especially you know when they're having some success so first and 10 at the Venice 26 yd [Music] line strer takes a snap and keeps it again this time uh zarowitz was there to stop him for No Gain Ben zarowitz with a nice play so you see ashari Charles going down and tackling the running back even though he doesn't have the ball and then you have the linebacker coming ready to go yeah around the edge almost a clip on number on five Russell on that play it looks like he pulled up just in time so no gain second and 10 26 yd line 557 left in the [Music] first I I say that now because after last week's game last week was long bro we we don't need three hours and 40 minutes again good job by sh right there Davis on the carry Marsters Jones and that would be Charles as well on that one there go how he retraces that I love that man great effort give them all credit on that one so no gain again so third and 10 at the Venice 26 yd line and you would think this third down is a pretty big play right cuz last last series they had a field goal block so yes I would imagine I mean what would you think going for it on fourth down even even absolutely you don't even get 10 this right now cuz you're going to go for it on Fourth down you're you're in that no man land that you know that you get into so empty formation stter little oh little screen got room got room good tackle great tackle what a tackle that is uh number 19 that is that is a Elane kovich I was going to call him Kane Lovich what a great [Music] tackle so he's there he did little easy pitch and catch and coverage was sort of messed up there listen for as much talent as that kid has you're never going to hear me say anything about about him right he's unbelievable talent but he definitely should have caught that ball right there got on him quick and kind of threw his hands so he might have never been more wide open than he was right there that's one of those on honestly he probably wasn't expecting the ball to come that hard at him figured give me a little loopy pass there we're good to go second and 10 and the good thing about that is you can that you can you can learn something from that didn't cost you touchdown correct yeah again quick hand off this time it is the other back the score has be down no way a touchdown now and there is no Replay that was matys on the on the Run number 25 for the touchdown 16 yards and it puts Miami Northwestern on the board seems like they uh formally set up a few things on those last two plays that they found a little weakness there on the left side of their defense yeah if you I mean if you watch the replay uh we've been having the defensive end crashed down on the running back and it looked like our defensive end wasn't like as you know aggressive as he has been the last couple times we had we had a penalty on the play see what it is it's against Indians I believe although they cuz Miami North West's coming off the field thought they blew the plate dead too that's why I heard whistles sides so if you blew it dead they got to come back out and do it again it's not good well if they decline it no well I yeah see I don't know if the whistle would if if they going to say well the we blew the whistle but it didn't count I mean it's kind of hard to do that so they they got to they got to go and give it a automatic deal here [Music] and Venice Sol something that they're um with the kicker with the first block they're n they're not rushing hard the middle they're just jumping yeah and they got some guys who can jump and they're tall so see if that's uh it works for their benefit again snap is good it's down and it is good good yeah so 44 five left in the first quarter your score the that was definitely catchable you know by his standards I mean he's one of the best players in the State of Florida so yeah no and again you just it's two turnovers you you can't you got to be more careful with the ball right now you got to grip it a little little tighter whatever that may be because like I was going to say earlier there was a stat back in the day I'm talking early 2000s where if Venice with with their with their with their verer offense which you saw the latter part of that um under three under three turnovers in a game they were like 80% winners 90% winners so turnovers you know no matter when they are the just the num sometimes can can touch you that was his direct snap that is jeris Wilder again Gator on the Run and he gets brought down about the 32 yd line number one number uh 17 antino branch junor on the tackle I'm I'm liking the run tonight Trey I mean they they're they're not having that they're having plenty of success with it right now well after just watching the replay right there and watching the o line and the pooling guards fit their fits I mean jeez why would you not run the ball so first down to the 31 yd line Wilder maybe that's the reason why man jeez you got to you got to secure the ball you there's got to be more you got to be conscious of it you just can't be trying to he's trying to make a move before he's got the ball in his hand lost on the play of five yards second and 15 at the 36 yd line yeah they haven't had the answer for the Wildcat but I mean shoot you can't run Wildcat second and 15 right Nick in a throw looks throws knocked away tended from movich by number four that's flowers that's great coverage honestly yeah you're exactly right what was he going to do his cover right there didn't put his arm on his back did for us for this for the first half TR I'll start with the Northwestern Bulls uh I'm going to give you one stat right off the bat nine for 14 passing in the second quarter for 172 yards something to be said about that that's going to be something I'm sure that coach shann and the defensive staff are going to be working on overall they were 10 for 20 for 182 it had nothing really in passing one for six in the first quarter rushing wise 18 carries for that would be 73 yards uh for the West goals Venice Indians however from a rushing perspective they had Oh I thought I had it add it up but I didn't we'll give it to you in one second here so it would be 23 carries for 200 and7 yards JIS Wilder with 15 carries for 143 and a touchdown Macho Jones 6 for 33 for one and Winnie Watkins 2 for 43 passing wise Jas Nixon four for eight in the first half 41 yards an INT and a touchdown touchdown pass to uh to Winnie which was a nice nice play nice throw to him Pat receiving wise vulich 1 for n Watkins 3 for 32 and a touchdown and for of all the stats we could have the one we got to talk about is the 53 yard field goal yeah which we think I think is a Venice Indian record um and and a one that could have been good for for a while that yeah I mean I think you and I talked you know on the side and said hey what do you think is going to happen in the first half of the game I would imagine you would say that Northwest is going to throw the ball a little bit more right and then Venice is going to run the ball pretty well and that's kind of what happened it didn't happen until the second quarter you know we thought it might have happened from day one or first play but it kind of took a little bit of time for Miami Northwestern to get into their offense and then you see Venice being able to run the ball downhill uh hit that hole really really fast uh so it's kind of you know what we imagine going into you know this game and and the score kind of dictates that yeah I mean we we we figured it would be something where the both teams would be in the in the 40 Point range or something like that so it just took a little while to crank it up maybe the weather had a little something to do it earlier on there was the feel was a little wetter maybe s little drizzle going on but now we've all kind of settled into where we're going to be and now I mean Venice has got five points that that you know that they're ahead of them but Miami Northwest gets the ball here to start the second half and see if they come out and stay hot with the with the with the um with the passing game yeah they haven't had much success especially in the second quarter running the ball but they've been done really really well uh in the passing game in the second quarter so again benis get set the kickoff Bruno Royce the touch the Touchback machine for the Indians uh with his opportunity to exing it add add to his collection of touchbacks and again back deep we can't it's hard because as a night goes on it gets harder and harder to see those yellow number so uh Jeff vulture is our is our spider tonight he's doing his his darnest to make make sure you can give me some numbers and doing a great job so far so appreciate him as well we've talked a lot about the numbers on Northwestern side but the black on black fire for Venice yeah it looks good really really looking good there was there was a lot of deals um where people were all were like you know we don't want to change the color but it does have a kind of a pop to it for sure kickoff that is that is crushed he crushed that one so kickoff goes into the end zone for a Touchback BS take over first and 10 on their 20 yard and if you remember the last time we kicked off it was out of bounds it was close right just outside of the pylon but uh way to regroup and reconnect with the ball so looks like the same quarterbacks running backs let see what we got back there with Mr [Music] strodder I think it might be Hardy he ran hard that kid did for sure he he was kind of get the line share the carries later on yeah they haven't had too much success running the ball ever since Venice has kind of changed I I don't know if I would say changed but just been more aggressive from the defensive end side of crashing down on the running back and then popping out for the quarterback from the linebacker side so that's stter in the backfield I think it's I think it is Hardy again motion that's big that's uh six Johnson good heart and run that time brought down by weatherington actually was it was number nine it was Davis he's the one who started the game off he got it looks like a four yard game second six for [Music] [Music] the one thing North northwestern's done a lot is the shifts in motion yes now lost the play right there and he looks a good run good hard run stter on that one brought down by Jones and Rue and there's a lot of reasons why you shift while you motion but a lot of times it's to get the strength to your side so if you're going to run the ball the right you're going to sh motion the guy from the left to the right side where Venice might not run with them or might not shift over or might not have enough time to shift over and then they're going to run the ball to the right which gives Northwestern the chance to have more guys on that side of the field gotcha makes sense you're moving bodies right to get advantages there's no doubt about [Music] it quick good play Eli Jones pursuing down the line with weatherington and help again from kovich might have a camera out here huh could be we we we we lost our producer he'll be back so second and two after the run or second and eight I'm sorry yeah you know strer ran on that one I'm surprised he didn't the last one I'm surprised he didn't run the ball a little bit more yeah he's had some when he when he's run it he's he's he's been effective they've had a ton of su passing the ball here goes another shift in motion right here I didn't yeah great throw great catch kovich on the tackle that's number two that is lanir I mean at the end of the day you're you're making sure the defense communicates with each other right so someone motions to the other side of the ball the defense has to change you know their Gap responsibility or has to change their coverage responsibility and all you're looking for is one guy it it doesn't you know cost much from an offensive standpoint you just tell one guy to go in motion right it's not a big deal you still run the same play but it just leaves you know it could leave some type of uncertainty from a communication standpoint on the defensive side of the ball you're stressing them they know what they're supposed to then they see it move it stresses them out a little bit a little hesitant yeah here we go again another not a big deal right but it might put one guy out of their Gap and they might be able to you know run downhill a little faster that's Davis on the P carry weatherington Jones and zarowitz on the tackle and it's funny cuz you see that every level right of the shifts and motion but like I think high school and college it's more effective just because you're not doing you know you're not in football all day long that's not what you do right you got to go to school during the week during the day and during the week and then play football on Friday nights and then on Saturdays you know in the afternoon so it's a whole different level of communication and making sure everybody's on the same page and then time commitment as well and when the athletes B Northwest and has one hesitation that guy can that's that's a that's a three yard run or a 30 yard run starter again got his man oh oh gosh oh my goodness kind that's one of those plays like when like a like a baseball run it runs in front of the short stop oh there it is and he didn't quite see it but threw behind Russell on that one that didn't set his feet look like threw it sort of across his body a little bit so man he had a wide open those that's I mean that's one right there shoot man second and five you hope that doesn't come back to haunt Venice cuz that that's a that's a momentum switch right there right out out of the bat yes third and five let's see if they can get themselves a a stop here trips to the field for Northwestern hand off hard run short great run good tackle there by Bryant he's a short tackler I tell you what no I agree I mean for a guy like him to be he has to get off the block right so the first thing you're getting blocked by one or definitely probably two guys and you have to get off both blocks and tackle the guy right that's exactly right all right fourth and two I'm interest to see what Venice does I mean if I had the guess they going to Blitz everybody no big z a little bit uh no big Zone stter keeps it and he EES it out and gets a first down good run hard run he did he didn't try to do anything fancy just kind of put his put his foot in the ground and got got the uh the first down weatherington and zarowitz on the tackle so first down for mining with [Music] W give him three on that one just all he needed Falls up to the 34 yd line and this is what we've seen all night from Northwestern there hasn't been many I mean there's been one or two down down the field throws and you know big touchdowns but for the most part it's Dink and dunk run right run left you know throw a short pass this way and it hasn't been too much crazy stuff no no again it's been effective and look almost five minutes off the clock already in the first in the F uh third quarter here so it's late game uh they call timeout that's what they call timeout so we'll stick around right here since our producer is trying to fix something somewhere else right now um but no you it what you're saying I'm like I said it's it hasn't been uh exotic it's just been sort of grinded out mix it up a little bit motions certain things like that um it's you know I think now it's one of those things where do you know I think they could get I think I don't think they shoot out would be a problem for Northwestern if they had to agree but he's choosing not to do that and I think you know I have said said this before too how conditioning early in the season can can have a can have an effect on teams especially team teams we play when we play Tempo you take that kind of that card out of our deck yeah and you're not so these guys are I'm not saying everybody's fresh but they're definitely not as as tired as as uh Tampa Bay Tech was last I agree I mean Tampa Bay Tech was cramping in the second quarter absolutely I don't think I've ever seen that okay okay so we're we're getting we're just told we getting some few things fixed right now so uh we're going to have probably a One camera set here for a little bit and to tell the guys to kind of keep a certain shot on it we'll we'll describe it as best we can and uh I'm sure you get you'll get the gist of it as we get things fixed up so first and 10 uh Mii Northwestern at the 34 yd line of the Indians and ster keeps it oh man time to throw got a guy open about the 20 yd line offens lineman downfield 100% And they they throw the flag yeah they threw they threw the flag so rolled him out got him uh got him all all out of whack but I think they got their offensive lineman out of whack too I think we have our first we just mentioned about uh cramps I think we got our first cramp and we did that's Johnson number six I think who got the cramp on the play so Ball's going to go back first down uh play is neg with a penalty five y is Le man downfield a loss of down in the NFL I'm trying to remember right now I know grounding is but I don't think grounding is I don't think man downfield it's crazy how much the rules I mean small rules right like small little things here and there penalties here and there that fluctuate from high school to college to professional yeah little tweaks and stuff you don't really you don't but I will say this it all eventually trickles down whatever change to make from the an to the high school it takes about it used to take like 5 years now it takes uh you know seconds so to speak so we're just going to stay here we got a timeout for a water break I believe is what it was with 77 left in the quarter and uh no just go back going back to what you you good going back to what I was saying earlier about the the conservative play with and the and the uh trying to get that keep the tempo down um I don't know I mean sometimes I wonder how our defense can stay on the field long they do sometimes when they get a 30 yard 30 30 second touchdown or a two-minute touchdown or something like that but I don't know if if slowing it down really has a is going to affect our play calling or or or our Tempo I know it's a cuz I I don't think coach pick up that says oh let's slow it down ourselves I think he's going to go all out no matter what yeah well I mean at the end of the day would you rather have a 30se second touchdown or you know uh uh U interception i' rather have a THS eight plays for nothing for sure but I'd have I didn't put touchdown all day if I could no doubt about that I mean listen it's it's the ultimate team game right special teams offense defense everybody has to do their part in order for your team to win so I mean if you might have you know 50 plays a game or you might have 25 plays a game but at the end of the day you know as long as you guys win that's all I really matters points is the ultimate is the ultimate stat sir yes sir it's it's the only stat I don't write down but I memorize it so that so that that's there so looks like we're having a little bit of a pow out with some of our still having some issues with something not quite sure what they're looking at but uh referees are sort of huddled around the uh the ball where it's marking the 39 yd line so maybe is it the lights or something I don't know so anyway well I'm sure it could just be they just extended and extended their timeout out it wouldn't be it wouldn't be the most peculiar thing that happened over the last couple weeks at Venice High School with the referees well now that we're talking about trickle down effect do you think that the kickoff rooll will trickle down to high school in NFL I do because because I know that there's a lot of emphasis on you know player safety in high school you see a lot more you know injuries and whatnot so I think yeah I think it'll make its way down here I I can only tell you it's going to be very exciting because it's the same effect that it's having on the pros we're going to see a lot more returns for touch so now we're back to the play first and 15 at the 39 yard that here goes another motion shift and motion this makes a defense communicate here quick throw kind of a tunnel screen and he broke through gosh they had him in the back field and that was that's rough one you got a looking for a flag see can I Brant looking for a flag and he's not going to get so pass was complete to to um lanir yeah and the ball is down to the 40 or I'm sorry the seven yd line first and 10 what I loved about that is he caught the ball and went up field right he didn't like try to Juke anybody or none of that other stuff like just went down the field as fast as he possibly could strong run and got you know 15 20 yards out of it he split the defense what he did got two guys coming to pursue and he right between both of them so first and goal at the seven yd line stroer into back field with Davis Shi to motion and ster keeps it looks like he's going to take it in the end zone and does with a seveny touchdown again he's an effective Runner he really is there's nothing flashy about him right like when not like holy crap like look at this throw he just made or look at this run he just made but he's just been so consistent since the second quarter started on he knows where he's going one foot in the ground touched it up if he got six he got six if he got five he got five y he's good to go no matter what it is so no doubt about it uh Silva in for the extra point one for the extra point and wow he missed it he did miss it I looked for a second like he hit the ground but he just he just it was just a sort of sort of a lazy kick and it was no good so that makes it 2726 Mii Northwestern and uh we look looking at the ven getting the ball but but a good drive for them they got the touchdown burned almost 6 minutes off the clock and uh I think Venice got to come out and try to match it as any way they can but you know going back as far as the last drive we had yeah the running game has been really effective so I don't know why I wouldn't expect that they would go away from that and I will say this I do like the the change of pace with the jumbo Wildcat formation seemed like that's been something that's been there's been no well it nipped us early the first play right first play the game pumble the ball and then gave it to Miami in our plus yard line but other than that it's been super successful I I said that that just gives him give him a different look to look at Silva set the kickoff I mean it seems like we've been firing in all cylinders from the offensive standpoint we've been running the ball we've thrown the ball a couple times successfully we've run the Wildcat scored a couple times anywhere close from a speed standpoint with Dre right back in the day but you hand the Baton to dree you know he be in fourth place and next thing you know we're good you felt super comfortable handing hand the Baton in fourth place so I had the Good Fortune to go to a lot of track meets and I was at the one you guys came for your first 4 by one you came in basketball shoes and basketball shorts that's all we have bro you know what I mean there was a guy from riview who was like the fastest guy in the counties and it was the worst hand three handoffs I've ever seen I gave it the Dre and he almost caught him at the end and I remember coach Shannon was track coach at that time sprinters and he said he's got to get some new shoes and some new shorts first out we got another one and on-site kick situation you know the onsite kick up with a regular just blast it at somebody as hard as you can see what happens either one for sure both yes kick that on there just no benefit out in those different places as well so it's great when they all show up meanwhile as the as the water break took place we also had somebody go down in a heap and I want to I want to say it's cramping because you know most most guys when they get cramps and they didn't they're not expecting it it's like they got shot with with a shotgun with a blow dart and you your first concern is like what just happened you know but then you realize oh it's a cramp it's normally a cramp what is this time out right here it's for the it's for the injured playj yeah the guy up there up by their this is the left less who gets to go first what the what what end do you want to defend that kind of stuff but both teams are going to get a shot at so what we have defense going out there yep cool we want we'd rather go second than first I think that's how it works to start off with I agree uh so if you're Northwestern are you I mean you've done pretty well on on on both offense and defense I mean I mean on ending I think I think the team it was came down to the last the last team with the ball in an overtime situation and and uh Kai Brantley with a Fant fantastic jump on a route a wheel route that uh looked like it was open for a little little bit there and he did a great job and they've been beating the heck out of us all game with that play same exact play and they finally threw the wheel rout and we were right there to to intercept it it was it was it was good coverage and they was well scouted to say the least and uh again I mean uh Trey I mean last week talked about how Jace Nixon did such a fantastic job and showed out I would say he played really well tonight he didn't do he just he just was solid a quarterback but overall I think I think the running game was was the was the ruler of of the night I might say o line gets MVP tonight I agree I mean I we can we can spread a lot I mean ashar Charles is going to be on our on our radar every game every game every game yes and he's going to that's what he wants to expect him to do that but I think the old line deserves a lot tonight even that last little bit of a drive right there uh so that's I think that's what that's what I see I mean last week I feel like Jace was asked to do a little bit more right he threw the ball really really well this week it didn't feel like he had those that many opportunities to throw the ball really well but when he had the opportunity he did obviously throw strike to matulovich right over over the over the middle and he was able to get a big game but uh I think he's definitely somebody that we can build an offense around and I think he's going to be fun to watch develop over these next couple weeks and it doesn't get much easier for us I can tell you that next next CLE
