The Need For Fire. Pastor Benjamin Foster 8/18/24

[Music] well good afternoon everybody and we welcome you to the Divine Encounter Church and we are blessed to be here again again in the house of the Lord when God blesses you to wake up in the morning and you're in your right mind and you can think properly you can reason properly and you can understand what's going on in you are blessed you are blessed when you have the ability to move and to uh go about your daily Affairs a normal person you got to recognize that you are blessed amen we are blessed today bless the Lord bless the Lord hallelujah at this we're gonna have a scripture reading from my daughter Eden she's going to come so let us receive her okay so we're on Luke 11 verse 1 to verse four and it reads one time Jesus was praying in the place when he finished one of followers said to him John told his followers how to pray Lord please teach us how to pray too Jesus said to them when you pray say father we pray that your name will always be kept holy we pray that your kingdom will come give us the food we eat for each day forgive us the sins we have done because forgive every person who has done wrong to us and do not cause us to be tested praise God may God add a blessing to the reading and hearing of his word at this time we're going to move forward and we're going to have uh my wife to come evangelist Mary Foster she's going to come and give us lead us in prayer so let's receive her at this time amen let us all as we go before the Lord kind and gracious father we are thankful for the day we are thankful Lord God for you giving us the opportunity to come together oh we lift you up this this day and we bless your holy name thank you oh God thank you oh God for Life health and strength thank you oh God uh thank you oh God for this great salvation you've given us uh oh God you are awesome and great and we just thank you Father oh we acknowledge you father as God you are the creator of the heavens and the Earth you are alpha and and Omega you're the first and you are last and father we exalt you this day we we call your name great uh for you're great uh we say great Lord and you are greatly to be praised uh our hearts Rejoice Lord God uh we're filled with joy Lord God uh we're filled with gladness Lord God when we can come together as people of God in unity and oh God we just thank you oh God we lift up your name this day and we magnify you oh God we ask that you would come the more today oh God for we need you oh God H oh God we just cry out to you and say we need you oh God we need you in our lives we need you Lord God in our church we need you oh god oh we desperately need you Lord and we call out to you oh God and we ask Lord God of your grace Lord God uh oh extend your grace to us Lord God uh extend your Supernatural power extend your Supernatural ability to us Lord God uh for oh God we're desperate and in need of it Lord uh oh we just need you Lord um oh we humbly admit Lord that we need you uh our hearts cry out to you Lord God oh God Have Your Way in US Lord God Have Your Way in this place Lord God uh have your way in the lives Lord God of your people oh God uh oh in the name of Jesus uh let your will be accomplished Lord God uh let your kingdom come the more Let Your Glory be revealed the more let your will be done the more oh in the name of Jesus uh oh God we ask for your favor we ask for your divine blessing uh we ask for your Divine strength uh oh God we absolutely ask Lord God for more of you uh for more of Heaven Lord God uh oh for more Lord God Of Heaven um for oh God we desperately Lord God want more of you uh oh more of your love uh to be manifested in US uh oh in the name of Jesus uh oh father bless us Lord God uh that we will be bold and effective Witnesses Lord God of the resurrection power of Jesus Christ oh give us your grace Lord God uh oh your Supernatural Lord God ability Lord God your power Lord God to be effective in ministering and sharing Jesus Christ with the Lost uh oh God have your way Lord God in this Ministry uh give us Grace Lord God to reach the people of this region Lord God uh oh give us the Innovative strategies Lord God to reach people for you oh God uh oh we ask for your hand we ask for your divine intervention Lord uh for we need it Lord God uh and oh this day oh God as your word is ministered as the word of God Goes Forth uh father we pray Lord God for your grace uh to take the very truths of your word h and apply it daily in the mighty name of Jesus Christ uh we give you all the glory and honor because it's du you you are worthy and you're a worthy God thank you Lord in Jesus name amen amen you may be seated praise God as we go into the word of the Lord on today the message that we want to share to the glory and honor of God uh so I want to turn I want you to turn with me today to levius chapter 6 we want to go there today Leviticus chapter 6 and going to start at verse number8 and we're going to gather a thought passage Leviticus 6 and8 all right it reads and the Lord spake un to Moses saying command Aaron and his son saying this is the law of the burnt offering it is the offering because of the burning upon the altar uh all night unto the morning and the fire of the altar shall be burning in it and shall put on his linen garment and his linen breaches shall he put upon his flesh and take up the ashes which the fire hath consumed with the burnt offering on the Altar and he shall put them besides the Altar and he shall put off his garments and put on other garments and carry forth the ashes without the camp unto a clean place and the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it it shall not be put out and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning and lay the burnt offering in oil upon it and he shall burn thereon the fat of the peace offerings the fire shall ever be burning upon the altar it shall never go out and for a talk a thought on today we want to talk about we need God's fire the need for fire Hallelujah there's a need for fire you know the priests of Israel were commanded to end to the Altar and the Tabernacle and to the sacrifices that were made the role of priests at least a portion of their role was to make sure that the sacrifices were handled properly the priest had to make sure that the sacrifices were dealt with and hand handled in the right way and they had to follow all the different procedures that were laid out in the law of Moses they didn't just have to just do it but they had to do it right they had to follow all the different procedures and ordinances of the law of Moses and when you read through Leviticus it can be quite tedious as you read through it and you look at all the different things that the priests were required to do and they were required to understand is very tedious there's a lot of details that are associated with uh Priestly duties a lot of details but this was their office this was the call of God that God gave them this was the anointing of God that was upon their lives to do the tedious work of being a priest they had to do all the meticulous details associated with it and so they had to deal with the altar they had to deal with the altar because the altar was the place where that sacrifices were made it was the priest's duty to deal with the Altar and so the altar represents symbolically the heart that's what it represents symbolically it represents our heart you see in the Old Testament they were required to offer sacrifices from the right kinds of altars altars that were sprinkled with blood but today we have to offer sacrifices from the altar of our heart from the altar of our very spirit and our hearts today must be sprinkled with the blood of Jesus Christ that's what has to happen today our hearts have to be sprinkled and cleansed through the blood of Jesus Christ and when our hearts are sprinkled and cleansed through the blood of Jesus Christ they are no long defiled they are no longer unclean but they're made ready to offer sacrifices they're made ready uh give glory to God and so the altar represents your heart the heart of man the spirit of man and the fire the fire represents the very presence of God thing that it represents God it represents the glory of God it represents the power and presence and manifest Pres presence of God that's what the fire represents because the Bible says that our god this is Hebrews 12:29 it says our God is a consuming fire that is his nature that's his Essence he is a consuming fire that's the nature of God and so fire depicts and represents God that's what it depicts and represents it depicts the very presence of the Living God well what else does the fire represent the fire so represents our passion and our Zeal for God we have to have genuine passion and Zeal for God those two things come together the presence of God and the passion and Zeal for God that's what fire represents okay so we gotta both we got to have God's presence in our lives we got to walk in his presence we got to talk in his presence we got to get a place where that we what live in his presence we've got to live in the very presence of God we've got to know uh his presence we've got to know uh his Spirit we've got to know his power we've got to be very aware when God is moving so the question for you is do you know the presence of of God do you know the presence of God are you aware when his presence is in the room are you aware when his presence comes in a light Gentle Way are you aware when his presence is manifested do you detect his presence or do you uh ignore and live in such a way that you're totally unaware not to get to the place that we are aware when God is moving we've got to be aware when God is stirring things and God is doing things Hallelujah and so the presence of God you know on the day of Pentecost the Bible says that when the Pentecost was fully come they were all together on one Accord in one place there came a sound like as of a rushing Mighty Wind and there appeared unto them clothing tongues it says like as a fire and these clothing tongues sat upon each of them fire was what God used to repres present his holy spirit fire is the way that God visually demonstrated to his early church that he was filling them with the Holy Ghost Fire Hallelujah so uh we need God's fire today we got to have some fire if the church does not walk in the fire of God God's presence we cannot be effective in the work that God has called us to do if the church does not walk in the fire of God's presence the fire of the Holy Spirit we are not going to be effective in reaching the lost we're not going to be effective in doing our mission and our divine mandate the truth of the matter is that the church can do nothing without the fire of God the church can't do a thing we can't pray without the fire of God we can't sing and praise God without his fire uh we can't witness and share the gospel without his fire we can't help uh the we can't help a single soul a single person without God's fire the church has got to have fire Hallelujah and this is what God was illustrating on the day of Pentecost he was making it clear and abundant to abundantly clear to them that they needed his fire the fire of God was so important that Jesus told them don't do anything until you get it don't go anywhere don't go and preach the gospel and do anything go to Jerusalem and wait there go to Jerusalem and stay there and wait Terry until you are endued with power from on high and the Bible makes it very clear that after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you you will receive power hallelujah hallelujah and that's what the church is needing today the church has got to have fire the church has got to have the glory and the presence of God because that's what makes the real difference that's what's going to make the difference as far as helping people in this world it's going to take fire it's gonna take Divine fire okay and so the presence of God but we we got to make sure that we sh uh do all that we can to develop genuine passion and Zeal for God hallelujah genuine passion and Zeal for God this is something you've got to develop this is something that you to cultivate this is something that you have to grow in okay passion and Zeal for God is not something that God just uh gives you sovereignly of it but you got to grow in it you got to get strong you got to get developed in it that's what God is calling us to do we've got to in it we've got to develop in this Hallelujah we got to grow in the very fire of God the passion for Zeal for God genuine Zeal genuine passion it makes a big difference when you have it there's something about a salesperson uh that doesn't have any Zeal for his product You observe a sales person don't have any Zeal or excitement for his product he's out there trying to sell something trying to tell you about a car trying to tell you about uh a product for your house but he don't have any Zeal or passion for it he doesn't believe in his product he's just going through the motions he's telling you about the product but you sense there's no real about it there's no real conviction in the salesperson's speech there's no real conviction in what he's telling you about his product he saying yeah you need to get this product this product is beneficial but you look at them and you you just don't have no Zeal there's no passion you see a salesperson has to have some enthusiasm because it said that the transfer of enthusiasm is the way a cell is made well it's the same way for us in the church today going to win this world to Jesus Christ we've got to have fire genuine passion genuine Zeal for the Living God Hallelujah the world can tell when you have it they tell when you have genuine passion and genuine Zeal for the Living God they can sense it they know that something is different about you they know that there's something different about the way that you walk there's something different about the way that you talk there's something different about the way that you uh uh uh operate and function there's something different about and the difference is that you got genuine you got genuine Zeal you got genuine fire hallelujah what distinguished Elijah from the prophets of bell is that Elijah had genuine fire you see the prophets of uh they called upon Bale and did all all they could they went around jumping around doing all different chants and things cutting themselves and things they did all of that all of that effort and just wore themselves out but what was interesting is that their God Bale had no fire their God had no fire they their God could not answer them with fire their God could do nothing for them their God couldn't help them in the least bit but Elijah called on the Living God he called on the true and living God the Creator the one that has made each and every one of us he called on the true God and what happened fire came down Hallelujah we need uh to be able to pull on the fire of God hallelujah we need to walk in the fire of God we need to talk with the fire of God we need to live in the fire of God hallelujah because that's what's going to make the difference and that's what distinguished Elijah from the false prophets Israel was wondering uh who should they serve they couldn't decide they couldn't figure out if they were gonna serve the the uh Bales or are they gonna serve God they couldn't figure it out but a man of fire Hallelujah a man of genuine fire Elijah comes along and he turned Israel back to God Hallelujah Israel when they saw that fire come down they cried out and they said the Lord he is God they cried out the Lord he is God they turned back to the Living God hallelujah you see one thing that the genuine fire of God can cause to happen it can cause people to turn back to God the genuine fire of God can cause people to turn back to God when people have fallen away when people have gone astray genuine fire can cause them to turn around and come back genuine fire can cause them to wake up and see the error of their ways genuine fire can cause them to look up and realize that God is real and that God is their answer Hallelujah That's The Power of genuine fire it can cause people that have G to turn back to the Living God and so what you got to understand is this passion and Zeal will lead you to God's fire okay passion and zeal will lead you to God's fire or God's presence any day that you want to spend time with God and get into his presence those are the two key word passion and Zeal you in your prayer time when you're spending time with the Lord you want to enter into God's presence I'll tell you how to do it you got to have genuine passion and genuine Zeal for God you cannot allow yourself uh to think that you're going to be able to just approach God uh and you're going to enter into his presence and you have no real desire to enter in you're gonna enter his presence and enjoy the wonders of his presence be Spellbound by his glory Spellbound by The Wonder of his presence and you think you're gonna H that's going to happen without you uh having a g genuine desire having a genuine Zeal you see genuine Zeal is a key genuine passion is a key so that's what's going to Le lead you to God's presence but then when you get into God's presence God's presence is gonna lead to more passion and Zeal okay so that's what happens passion and Zeal will lead you to God's presence and then when you get into God's presence and you get Touched By His Holy Fire Holy Fire is going to lead to more passion and Zeal and what are you g to do with that passion and Zeal you're GNA pursue the presence of God again you're gonna go after him even more you're gonna SE after him even more you're gonna hunger and thirst for him even more and then when you go after him again and you get into his presence in a deeper way what's going to happen he's going to release passion and Zeal it's GNA stimulate within your very heart more passion and Zeal that's the way it works stimulate in your heart passion and Zeal this is the way it works and so it should be a NeverEnding cycle it should be a NeverEnding uh cycle where that you have passion Zeal and hunger and thirst for God you just you hunger for him then you come to him enter into his presence and then you get refreshed in his presence and then you have a greater passion and a greater Zeal then you go back to God again seeking after him again and you enter in his presence and it ENT ends up being an NeverEnding cycle where you go from glory to glory you go from strength to strength you go higher and higher by the power of the spirit of God you go higher hallelujah it's time for us to go higher it's time for the church to climb to a higher place it's time for the church to climb to a higher Dimension a higher realm a new place in God a higher place than we've ever been Hallelujah we need to go to a new plane in God we've got to get to the place where that we are not satisfied with where we are and where we've been in God the time is out for us being satisfied with the fact that 10 years ago we had a powerful experience with God or 15 years ago we had an experence experience or an encounter or 20 years ago something awesome happened we've got to get to the place where that we uh hunger and thirst continually and we seek after God continually Hallelujah for higher places in him we've got to have a greater passion a greater Zeal for God hallelujah passion and Zeal is the fire it's the very fire that God gives us as his people as part of the fire passion and Zeal Hallelujah we we've got to have that passion and Zeal with us at all times that's what fuels your prayer life you say what is the fuel that would cause me to seek God that would cause me to spend more time with God it would cause me to get to know God in a greater way it's your passion and your zeal no passion no Zeal no prayer life you won't have a prayer life if you lack passion and Zeal if you let the devil take away your passion and your Zeal and cause you to get to a place where you are not hungry and you're not thirsty for anything else for anything higher you won't get anything higher Jesus said blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled you got to have some genuine hunger and thirst if you want to be filled you got to hunger for God desire him don't let yourself rest content with the victories and the blessings of yester year don't let yourself rest content with what God gave you in the past Hallelujah should be an unending cycle where you go from glory to glory and from strength to strength and one thing about fire from our scripture today in Leviticus 6 is that fire requires wood the priests they had to put more wood on the fire every morning as prescribed by the law they had to go and gather wood and put more wood on the fire every morning they had to make sure that they kept that fire burning they had to make sure that the fire never went out if you're gonna keep a fire burning you got to have fresh wood you got to have fresh wood if you're gonna keep a fire burning Hallelujah and every morning they had to go gather wood put some more wood on that altar more wood to keep that fire burning because if they didn't the fire would die if you don't keep putting the wood on your altar the fire of God on your altar the fire of God in your heart will die you've got to have F you've got to have some wood to keep a fire going you gotta some wood so fire requires wood what is wood for us what does it represent for us it represents the things that we must sacrifice in order to enter God's presence it represents the things that we have to give up the price that we have to pay that's what the wood represents uh when you fast deny yourself food what are you doing you're putting some wood on your altar when you turn aside from your favorite television program and you say I'm not watching that today I'm focusing and I'm getting along with God what are you doing you're putting wood on your altar when you say you know what I'm getting away from uh Facebook and I'm getting away from Tick Tock and I'm getting away from social media for the a day when you do that when you do that you know that you're having an effect you're you're putting some wood on your fire Hallelujah you're putting some wood some real wood your fire Hallelujah and that's what we need we need the wood on our fire we need it consistently Hallelujah day by day Hallelujah new wood new wood new wood there's not a day in your life where you're not gonna need wood nope if you follow this example that's given to us in Leviticus 6 you got to do wood every day there's always a sacrifice you got to put something on that altar to keep that fire burning and not only did they have to put wood on the altar every day but they had to put fresh sacrifices on the fire every day they had to put fresh sacrifices daily you couldn't just depend on the that you made a sacrifice yesterday and say well we we placed uh meat on the altar yesterday that's enough no you got to put the new sacrifice on that altar new sacrifices daily Hal what it represents for us today is that there's new sacrifices Hallelujah new uh sufferings that you have to endure in order to walk with God daily there's new sacrifices on a daily basis okay okay new sacrifices in other words you can't depend on the fact that uh a month ago you made a sacrifice to God and you turn off the TV nope every day you got to get up and say well what can I do to draw near to God you see sacrifices according to the Bible uh what that really means is that which is brought near that's what it means that which is brought near so when you draw near to God you're G to have to bring a sacrifice you got to bring a sacrifice if you're going to draw near to God it's honor it's something that you do to honor God it's something that you do to show respect towards him it's something that you do to show that you genuinely uh reverence him that's what it is it shows genuine reverence towards God and so that's a sacrifice because you're coming the god that gave you life you're coming before the god that gave you every good thing that you ever had or will ever have and when you're coming before him the god that created everything that created existence itself for you you need to honor him Hallelujah and what is a sacrifice a sacrifice is that which is brought near but it's also uh you giving back to God a portion of what he gave to you okay everything that you have came from God everything that you have isn't that something everything that you possess really came from God there's nothing that you can get a hold of in this life that doesn't have its origin uh that didn't anything positive anything good that you can get a hold of this world none of it is is without God none of it I don't care what it is how great it is none of it could be yours without God absolutely none of it and so you receive uh what you receive because God is the provider he has blessed you I don't care how hard you you think you had to work for It ultimately it came from God ultimately every good and perfect gift comes from above okay and you know God does bless our hard work we should work hard amen that's a Biblical principle He blesses that you ought to work hard in order to get ahead and succeed but you got to realize that ultimately all of your success all of your blessings they come from God hallelujah you shouldn't be gloring in your own abilities and what you have achieved and thinking that somehow you made it all happen because it's the Lord that's behind all of it it's the Lord that's behind it all Hallelujah and so they had to put those new sacrifices on that altar every day just like they had to put new wood on that altar every day Hallelujah and that's what we've got to do we got to put new we got to put some wood on our altars we got to put more sacrifices on our altars we got to make we got to pay the price you want to walk with God you want to know God you want to have a genuine relationship with God you got to pay the price and the Bible did not say that it would be easy and there wouldn't be challenges for you to walk with God and no God closer he didn't say that no you're going to pay a price there is a price that you will pay to walk with God we think about Jacob before he became Israel Jacob had his hipbone knocked out of joint okay it came out of joint before he got his breakthrough with God okay he paid a a great price and for the rest of his life he walked with a LMP the rest of his life he walked with LP okay you see if you get a breakthrough with God and you really walk closely with God it's going to change your walk it's going to change the way you walk permanently you encounter God the way that he wants you to encounter him you touch him the way that he wants you to touch him is going to cause a change in your life your walk is never going to be the same okay and that's what happened with Jacob he'd never walked the same after that it caused him great pain I'm sure when tip was out of joint but I'm sure he felt it was worth the price Hallelujah it was worth the price after the W was placed on the altar in the morning the offering of the burnt sacrifice was placed on the fire and there was new sacrifices that were made every day and what you got to realize is this there are things in your life that don't have eternal value there are things in your life that God really doesn't want you to be holding on to there's things in your life that are in your life but God desires to remove them from your life there's things in your heart that God wants to remove and what can happen you get into God's presence and you walk in God's presence and the genuine fire of God Burns in your heart what can happen is that those things can get burned up you can get free because you've been walking with God you can get free because you've been talking with God you can get free because you've been spending time in his presence and when that fire is burning in your heart it causes you it causes you to be freed from things that are holding you back there's something in your life that's holding you back it's stopping you from walking closely with God you need to cry out to God like Elijah did and say God send your fire you need to cry out to God uh and humble yourself and say God I need uh the Revelation I need the manifestation of your fire send your fire touch me again Hallelujah and you know what that fire you know what fire does in your heart there's a number of things that fire does in your heart one thing that fire will do in your heart is it will purify your heart if you got the fire of God burning in your heart like it should be and you're putting wood on that altar every day it'll keep you clean it'll keep you clean the fire of God will keep you clean PL it'll detoxify your spirit it'll remove the toxins and the things that defile you and all the things that get in the way of you walking closely with God it'll remove those things if you will walk with God in his presence Walking with God in his presence causes a continual cleansing that's what does it causes a continual ual cleansing where you're being changed and you're being made more and more like God Hallelujah the old things the things that are of this present world that have held you in captivity those things are getting burnt up because of God's fire Hallelujah God's fire will burn those things up it'll it'll get rid of those things there's a lot that's in our life that we hold on to and God don't want us to have it God wants us to get rid of it his fire as you walk closely with him it'll burn up things God is a consuming fire say with me consuming fire consuming fire yeah God is a consuming fire he burns up things he consumes things he gets rid of things there's a lot of junk in our lives that can go away if we'll get In God's Presence Hallelujah so that's one thing that uh the fire would do fire will purify your heart but fire will also Empower you the fire of God will Empower you we need God's empowerment Hallelujah we need the power of the Holy Ghost you need the Holy Ghost and Fire well when you get the fire of God the fire of God comes down upon you it empowers you it cleanses you but it also empowers you you can get some power you can get a rejuven rejuvenation Hallelujah if you get into God's fire if you get into God's holy presence he'll rejuvenate you he'll charge you up he'll give you a new energy a new uh Joy a new peace and he'll cause you to be so full of power that you'll cast out devils and you'll heal the sick Hallelujah that's what God wants for his people he wants us to walk in his power genuine power of the Holy Ghost the fire of God will also refresh you that's another purpose that God sends fire fire will refresh you we need refreshing sometimes there's times when uh our joy is just not where it needs to be our strength is just not where it needs to be and the fire of God will cause uh Joy Hallelujah genuine joy to reemerge in our lives the fire of God will cause us to dance the fire of God will cause us to rejoice in the god that made us the fire of God Will Keep Us preserve us hallelujah and Empower us we need God's fire that's what the church really needs today we don't need uh a bunch of uh programs from uh great uh theological Minds we don't need uh the uh the advice the wisdom of the top secular universities like Harvard Princeton and Gale that's not what the church really really needs we don't need people uh that uh have a mind that is trained by these Elite universities that's not really what the church needs okay Peter uh and John they were ignorant and unlearned men that's what the Bible says about them they were ignorant and unlearned men that means they couldn't even read okay but they turned the world upside down they shook the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ couldn't even read okay so God was not looking for the most learned and the most educated in order to uh Advance the gospel that wasn't what God was looking for and that's not really what God is all about today either God what God is really looking for is people that have burning hearts for him people that have genuine fire in their hearts the fire of the Holy Ghost passion and Zeal genuine passion and Zeal and the fire of the Holy Ghost that's the type of people that God can use Hallelujah and if they happen to come from Harvard Yale or Princeton so be it God is not against them he's just looking at their heart man looks on the outward appearance but God on the heart God is looking for hearts that are ablazed with a holy fire Hallelujah if you walk closely with God and you get in his presence and you know him you'll realize he's a consuming fire Hallelujah and if you walk with God and you know God and you walk in his presence you also will become a consuming fire Hallelujah you be you'll get on fire too if you get in God's presence Hallelujah we are to imitate God God our perfect example he's a consuming fire he wants us to be little consuming Fires for him hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah glory to God as we all stand we've we need God's fire there is a need for fire there's something about the genuine fire of God hallelujah there's something about it there's something about when a preacher has genuine fire and you sense the genuine anointing there's something about it it cannot be imitated it cannot be uh in any way emulated you cannot emulate it you can't fake when someone has genuine fire is just something that is different it's something that is real it's something that is majestic and glorious we want to walk in God's genuine glory and God's genuine power dear heavenly father in the name of Jesus Christ we cry out to you today oh God for your fire oh God oh God let fire burn in us oh God let the fire of your spirit oh God burn within us oh God change us transform us deal with us oh God In The Name of Jesus oh God your fire oh God is what we so desperately need we need the glory and the power of the Living God oh God release
