welcome back to NFL fantasy football today I'm your host Chris Burman we've got a special guest joining us via phone the leader of the Boston maddogs this team has seen it all from Championship highs in 2022 to a nail-biting loss in the 2023 NFL Fantasy Football Championship first off thanks for joining me today let's talk about last season you had a strong finish to the regular season going four to one in your last five games but fell just short in the championship against Raleigh swaggy Rivals what's your mindset going into the 2024 season hey Chris thanks for having me on the show today it's quite an honor to be with you you know last year was tough it was a rocky season throughout we ended up ating six went four- one in the last five and we went to the championship But ultimately we came up short you know CD lamb just kind of went off and that made the difference uh so this year you know we're I'm more motivated than ever and I really like the roster uh the draft was really good to us I think and uh you know we're just ready to make another push for the championship this year speaking of am on Ross St Brown you picked him up after Raley swaggy Rivals grabbed cidi lamb again how do you feel about that pick and your current roster compared to last year you know I feel great about Aman raw St Brown he's a young Dynamic player who had a breakout year last year and I think he's going to do really well again this year he was really consistent with the fantasy points every single week and I think there were like five times he scored in the 20s and a couple times in the 30s so very consistent and I think it was uh well worth the number four draft pick and you combine him with the rest of our roster with kyne Williams and Sam Le pora um you know I think we're going to be very competitive this year yeah now I've got to ask dropping Travis Kelce last season that was a bold move he wasn't producing like we're used to seeing but did you ever second guess that decision especially heading into the championship yeah it was it was a tough call Chris you know Kelsey just wasn't himself towards the end of the season and we had to I had to make a decision you know Trey McBride ended up giving us a decent performance in the championship but hindsight is 2020 you know that first Blockbuster trade didn't work out for us and I just felt like towards the end of the season we just had to do what we had to do and you know No Regrets We Made I feel like I made the best decision that I could have made at that time and what about that week one loss to Mansfield Rodriguez last year that had to stink especially coming off a championship season in 2022 then you just barely edged him out in week eight by the slimmest of margins one of the closest wins in league history what was going through your mind during those matchups oh man week one was a real wakeup call for us you know we just like you know I said we just had that blockbuster trade where we trade away Mike Evans and Ezekiel Elliott for Calvin Ridley and bejn Robinson and you know that trade did not work out for us uh we have Mike Evans on the team this year which I'm really excited about and um you know it was it was not expect to lose week one and then we came back in week eight and it was a really nailbiter we I knew it could go either way but fortunately we did come out on top you know but you know Chris those are the type of games that really prepare you mentally and you have to think strategically you know about your team and what what kind of Trades you might pull off or who you going to pick up off the waiver wire finally looking ahead to this season who do you see as your biggest competition the Raleigh swaggy Rivals are back the iy pack has some new Firepower and there's plenty of talent across the board what's your take honestly Chris every team looks dangerous this year I think everybody did a good job at drafting you know Ry swaggy Rivals are always a threat they beat us last year in the championship you know maybe their team doesn't look as strong as it does last year but you just never know you know the variety pack with Tyreek Hill and Josh Allen that looks like a very scary explosive team I think all theam teams are really well balanced I think they all did great in the draft and uh you know we're just focused on the Boston Mad Dogs and you know we just we're we're about winning and in championships and this year is going to be no different and I think we have a good a chance as anybody Chris to win the championship again this year and that's what we're shooting for well there you have it folks the Boston mad dogs are locked and loaded for the 2024 season
