Joseph and now today it's narvis correct that am I right or am I do I have correct am I giving too much days like so they released Carlson on Monday yeah Monday was cut down day yeah right so Sunday he would have been the kicker we thought Monday it would have been Jo Joseph Joseph yesterday yesterday it was Joseph for sure and now today it's narvon and now today it's narison um again my guy went to three different colleges I don't know how a kicker does that maybe he just lost the job I I uh he was a kicker for at Western Kentucky where my brother has been or was the tennis coach for like 30 Years also Iowa State I believe too and Iowa State yeah Iowa State first then Western Kentucky and then he finished at NC State my assumption is without knowing the particulars is that he sucked at Iowa State lost his job and then was very good at Western Kentucky so they G decided to give him a chance at NC State wouldn't you assume that's probably how it worked out more than likely yeah because he goes to a group of five team or lower level team to uh a power five team in NC State right I mean there's no uh and if he was if he had been that good they would have he never would have left Iowa State I mean there could be other factors and I don't know how much my brother follows uh kickers but so Braden Arison is the new kicker for the Green Bay Packers and I guess it could change again tomorrow probably not but I don't know how anybody could be against that um so Jason Wy will be on normally on Wednesday we do Rainman not today because on location um and so that mean Rainman will be tomorrow with Brian bulaga um and then Friday would be Gary Ellison so Rainman and we have a leader at nine correct Pebble yep Terry and Walkie shot um and I did not check um do we have comments the the as I said yesterday with uh John Anderson like this is just such an utter waste of time like whatever we talk about today we can talk about next Wednesday because they still don't play again until Friday and if it was normal they wouldn't play again until Sunday u i don't uh I guess I should have analyzed this that this is the the this is the week everybody should take off from the time uh that the players are they decide on Tuesday then everybody should be required to take off Wednesday Thursday Friday Monday and Tuesday and then come back on Wednesday as you get ready for the game there's nothing whatever we say today is going to be the exactly the same a week from now because nothing's going to happen um I mean there there's the issue of well if some of the players that were cut by the Packers end up being picked up by another team um even that doesn't mean that much uh until or unless they're on the team I mean they could pick them up and then they could cut him again or um so there's there there aren't any days quieter than the period we're going through right now because nothing matters so now now the Packers have a kicker um but they could have gotten the kicker next Wednesday and it wouldn't have made any difference because he'd still be kicking the first game and nobody would have seen him kick he will have never kicked for the Packers and can't do any kicking cuz there's no games for the Packers so PEB the coaches talking at all uh well goody talked today in sort of met laflor and this talked about uh goody talked about how he liked narison uh from what he saw he was six to seven in Tennessee he obviously wasn't going to challenge Nick fol was the incumbent there with the Titans but uh he he said qu pass up the opportunity to get a good young kicker so I mean basically he just he thinks the Tui got stink because he is willing to take the total unknown right this guy is a total unknown well somebody they said they tracked too so what he said it was somebody they tracked well yeah but let we can go through he's obviously inconsistent or he wouldn't have gone to three colleges right I mean we don't know this but well players do get better Homer do they yeah yes he was he was six to seven in in uh in Camp he had a 59 yard field goal in a pre-season so right right but I mean there's no there's you would admit there's a greater risk with him and it's not just us we s we can sit on on the meeting all right goody says this says goody you know he's he's never kicked in an NFL game okay like if you had a question about about Anders then now now you have Joseph he's kicked in an NFL game he kicked pretty well and you're taking a guy out of this in the pregame the preseason and he kicked at three colleges okay who the guy at Michigan that we like so much that the the 49ers drafted early right Jake Moody was it Moody yeah he kick at three colleges he did not no why why didn't he why didn't he Pebble prob because he was good and he won a job he was damn good yes so I don't know if anybody's done the research you know the the it just speaks you know to how much he didn't like the other two guys CU there's no way he could like narison that much um yeah in the preseason these JV games he made six out of seven including a nine Yer that's enough how many guys do you think we could find that could do six out of seven in the preseason but if you don't like the two guys you got then willing to take they's willing to take a gamble I'm sure he feels like if this guy does if narvis goes back to whatever he must have done at Iowa State someone else can somebody can look up the numbers then he he can probably always go to Joseph right who's kicked in the NFL or he could go to Carl I don't but I mean there's he's willing to he's willing to gamble um so um I don't know there's no way you can feel any more confident about the kicking it's still to some degree a shot in the dark and hopefully oody will hit it or he will he is I will give him credit he's willing to make the change and he's willing to and this is something that GMS often don't do he's willing to say my uh the draft choice my selection uh in the drave choice uh I'm willing to say it's almost Ron wolflike hey hey uh I'm messed up so we're going to make a change um and that's not something um that they often do now granted it was a sixth round pick but um you know he gave him one year and gone and again for a guy this is the guy's resumee tell us again Pebble his resume six of seven in the preseason and including a 59 y he also had one that he missed I think from long distance as well that almost got returned for a touchdown okay but I mean that's his that's a pretty short resume so um again that just uh it tells me that goody is willing to gamble and I give him credit for that because often guys that draft somebody they're going to be hesitant to uh to admit hey we messed up on that it's similar to what he did with Clifford though Clifford is still is Clifford on the practice team Clifford has been assigned to the practice squad yes yeah yeah so if uh I do believe that Clifford is a little bit better than Willis so um but um doesn't appear that anybody else was crazy to get Clifford he's been he's been up and down and that's the way he was viewed entering the draft but Braden narvis again should be able to find somebody who remembers him because he was somebody some one of our listeners has to know him from Western Kentucky or Iowa State or NC State um I we should look at his numbers last year he had to be good what they say I think somebody said he didn't miss an extra point all well extra points in college are different so um 1 80099 3776 the week that goes on forever did you say something Pebble in my ear yeah the last hold on you're talking also about the last game against Baltimore right well but but just so you know you're right you also should mention that Carlson kicked to what 54 y cor but he he stuck it in on the right corner he snuck it in on the right corner snuck it in okay so now you got a rookie kicker that wasn't drafted he wasn't drafted and he was picked up by ten sugar free sugarfree kicking for years right he just came off a great game yes you just gave him the job and you don't you you have a kicker that got picked up on May 10th by Tennessee not right after the draft he got picked up 10 days after by he was probably working on graduation from one of his three colleges yes yes this is a huge gamble by goody no one can argue that now I think this guy think he I think if the trifect of colleges fails then I think Joseph will come back but oh yeah and you you talk about that stuff don't these players have any Pride don't don't they know they're just playing with them doesn't Clifford doesn't know he's going nowhere he's going to be cut as soon as they don't need him anymore don't these players have any Pride course they do what are they supposed to do it's the best we're supposed to go and look for another job in the N go find another job that maybe somebody else they all hold on sugar free I guarantee you they all have agents looking all the time they end up with probably the best thing they got going at the time I can tell you this you know who is the you know who is the most surprised person in the world charl uh Carlson no yeah what Nar no narv narv can't believe this really six out of seven and I'm kicking in the NFL so go back sugarfree look at his numbers they had to be good at every game hey every game matters so he's going to go into this game the first game it's not even in the United States it's not in the United States you understand he's going to Brazil will will Braden narvis be the kicker for the Packers at the end of the season absolutely not say no absolutely let do a poll can you please do a poll well but the please know we're going do a poll does everybody agree that this is one of the biggest gambles that this might be your 99% this might be 99% pull that what what's the question again the question will be will this guy lasts till the end of the season well he kicked to the end of the season yeah I think that the best bet there probably is no but you can't be you can't be so totally against it because you didn't have that much because if they had Carlson if they only had Carlson I would be all in on it now I would say this I don't I would I would make a bet if I can at some sight that Joseph could be the kicker at some point this season for the Packers I'm sure I think that's pretty good guys well I don't know I got to check with my brother on narvis and he'll give me the inside information all right sugarfree legitimate Point um given what goody has done and when we need to get some some understanding straight days let's see if Jason Wy says that is accurate good afternoon Jason well I mean they've had Alex hail uh the whole time uh I guess they released him but he's their International player so he's he doesn't count really um today yesterday was Joseph and the day before so that would be accurate it would be yeah I mean okay yeah yes it it's uh Matt laflor called it Uncharted uh territory and a unique situation which I thought was uh being kind um you know he was kind of trying to dodge the question of how do you you know how do you figure out exactly how this is going to work with a brand new kicker who hasn't been in Camp with you I mean I didn't even get into the you know this guy hasn't even worked with you guys on whatever your game plan is for offs but well they can I can solve that right away Jason that's easy yeah just kick it through the yeah um but my point but the greater issue was um you know as I stated to him you know the difference between winning or losing in this league is race or thin and he interrupted me and said oh I'm well aware um and now you've got you you you managed to bring five kickers through your program during your training camp five and you chose none of them um I I just you know and and this this kid you know Braden narvon I'm sure is a is a nice kid and and we'll find out more about him but he kicked at three different schools in five years Iowa State Western Kentucky uh and then NC State and he made 78% of his kicks for his career career like he it's great that he made six out of seven and made a 59 y uh in in a game in the pre-season and had a gamewinner against Seattle in the preseason but the bottom line is is that he is just as unproven as Anders Carlson and at least and I'm not at believe me I'm not advocating for they should have just kept Andre Carlson but like at least you saw Anders Carlson make games in NFL make kicks in NFL games that counted and a couple of them were kind of important so I just there's no he's a bigger he's a bigger gamble than the other two guys that they just let go I mean no one can AR a risk yep and and and gy admitted that and I I did think gy had a great self-aware moment in which he admitted he's probably not as patient with uh Specialists as he should be but Jason that's basically saying this guy's not going to survive either if you're not patient then you don't take a gamble you get the best wouldn't you get the person that you think is the most reliable and he did no doesn't that tell you this guy's not going to last the odds are this guy's not going to last either if goody says he doesn't have much patience right I mean yeah I mean I mean let's you know gy mentioned how there was the he he first started working at Lambo right because he'd been an area Scout for a long time and uh so in 2012 was the year that he first started working at Lambo field and he basically admitted like him and others in the building couldn't believe that Ted was sticking with Mason Crosby when he made like 67% of his kicks That season yep and and so he's you know it didn't matter that Anders Carlson was a draft pick he was he was going to move on and but my the point is is that there's no guarantee that this guy's an upgrade in fact there's a there's a more likely chance that he's not as good than it is that he's better so I think they all know that I think you know Matt lefur had a line too today about how he's been on teams where it's basically a revolving door and you don't want to be in that situation but guess what you're on your kicker you got bought Matt you just bought a revolving door yes didn't they congratulations yeah no I don't know if P windows and doors of Wisconsin makes that or not but if they do Matt laflor should get a deal on it because it is definitely the situation and and the the reason I think it's important to State it like this is because if the guy turns out to be good and consistently good they deserve immense credit for taking the huge gamble that it is and huge is the right word and having it work out so well because that's really what's going on this is a huge gamble yeah I mean for those who don't agree a pebble again give us the resume of Braden narvis he wasn't going to repace Nick Fulk he was uh probably not going to win that job in Tennessee but he was six to seven for long of 59 yards also had another long one that was almost returned for a touchdown though and he's now a kicker in the NFL Jason I don't know that there's anybody that has ever gotten a job with that resume oh no they I mean they yeah they they had a punter um early in my career no I mean Place kicker I kick him field goals well yeah I mean I I you know they had a guy that was a bartender the week before um look but he he's he is undeniably a risk at the same time goody goody will have basically based on what he said the way you put it like if this guy U misses a kick in Brazil he may pull the plug on him and get somebody else which I just don't know if that's a healthy way to go about you know kind of handling that position um but the fact of the matter is that he didn't believe in any of the guys he brought in here but brayen narv was available to them after the draft he could have easily signed him as an undrafted free agent he didn't he hadn't he didn't have six for seven Jason he didn't have that six for seven it's true it's true you know but but now they they basically you know they had two different backup quarterback candidates and they settled on a guy that played for the Titans and now they had five kicking candidates and they settled on a guy that kicked for the Titans anybody else there with the Titans that could fit a position backup running back you got a running back with the Titans that could end up yeah I don't I don't know they're they're not a very good team from what I can tell they have a new head coach so uh I'm not sure if they're the team that you want to be uh pillaging for for guys but again it could work look you got to give like you said you got to give goody the benefit of the doubt here like it is a it is a bold move because look the easiest thing for him to do would have been to say look we believe in Anders he's had his ups and downs you know I would have liked him to have made that 32 yard field goal goody claims that that's not why he cut him I I don't believe him because Anders was 22 of 25 in practice down the last like two weeks so he was kicking at an 88% clip in practice and then on top of that he had made a 54 yard field goal and two extra points yep I I I will I will stand I will die on this hill of saying the problem with the 32 yard Miss was that it reminded him that you're always waiting for which kick is this guy going to miss in this game and that's the bottom line and so that so while he can say it wasn't just that kick it's what that kick represented that I think was the death nil for Anders and and you know I did enjoy the fact that I'm going to play this for T tomorrow for sure was that he basically said look there are some guys that you know get into the league and do it right away and then there's other guys that it takes them a while to kind of figure things out and he said Anders is probably one of those guys and he pointed out JK Scott who he drafted as a punter who now has turned into a pretty darn good punter for the Los Angeles Chargers wasn't one for the Packers after the Packers drafted him but again another example of you know maybe you should let these guys work out their inconsistencies with other teams and then once they finally figured it out that's the time to get them and I'm not sure that har has done that yet yeah yeah no and but naron narison may still have to work those out too like that great for him he made six out of seven in preseason games I I wasn't at Titans practice charting his accuracy in their practices like we were for the guys that came through here so again we'll see what he does in Brazil and and they've certainly had kickers who were good enough as rookies uh you know Ryan Longwell was good enough as a rookie Jason I know it's early any research on why he ended up at three colleges my assumption was he sucked at Iowa State then he goes to a smaller School Western Kentucky must have been very good so much so that North Carolina State gave him a chance and he must have been pretty good there I that's just without looking at any facts yeah I don't have a great understanding either of of why his kind of path went this way um was not there yet today he's um he they claimed him but he has not yet joined the team he should be there tomorrow uh of course we don't have locker room tomorrow so I W to talk to him but we'll have Rich baceo we can ask him about it it's just again this is a team that they believe is capable of winning a Super Bowl and if if if you're going to trust a kicker who's never kicked in the league before uh I wish you luck yeah it doesn't it doesn't make sense from that standard um just it just doesn't I mean what would made what would have made sense to me from that standard would have been Joseph yeah I I you know he's he's made no offense this is not meant as a shot at Braden naron but uh that's great that he made a 46 y to beat Seattle in preseason it's great that he made a 59 Y in a game uh Greg Joseph made a 61 yard game-winning field goal for the Vikings in a game that counted so again I'm not saying that Greg Joseph uh is Yan stenerud or you know insert you know Adam viter or anybody like that I'm just saying he's he's at least got some evidence of what he's capable of and and and when we say these things we all know that goody thinks is aware of all those thoughts too I mean it's not like we're just making some up those are the discussions that existed and they said hey we're we're willing to take a chance on this guy the qu the discount lier Twitter poll question Jason will let you be the first to answer it will Braden narvon be the kicker for the Green Bay Packers in the final regular season game I would vote no yeah I I would vote no I don't have a crystal ball but based on when the general manager publicly admits that he's not patient enough that would be enough to tell me that if I have to guess I'm going to guess that he ain't going to be keeping the job yeah Jason there are other things I want to ask but we have like a free week so we we do we do have a bonus week yeah this we should have all taken this time off except for you there's five days there's no point remember any of that at all and see what I'm ready to see what happens now I mean how comp I you know we we can all ask did you even know anything about these guys my question would be how confident are you Homer that's really the question going into the season how confident are you that's all that matters I'm very confident of the team I'm not confident in him at all he seems a bigger gamble than the two guys they let go I assume when when they when they cut Anders that Joseph would be the guy will go with more of vet because we tried a young guy and he you know you just can't miss 32 yarders and so we're going to do you know just like you have a coach who's tough then you get rid of him then you get a soft coach so I just thought it'd be a change we'll try a vet and and again they went with a guy who's a bigger gamble doesn't mean he'll fail I don't see how anybody can argue the point Braden narvon is an even bigger gamble than Andre Carlson agree with that I am I am uh right uh so you know was that Matt laflor uh and then after the game saying that's not even a question for me is that him saying look I want somebody new as the kicker here whoever that is possibly in my mind but going through that didn't you think when he was C that Joseph is the guy or am I wrong to make that assumption I did not say I I wouldn't have been shocked if Joseph was the guy um but if if Greg Joseph's your guy to me you're you're at the point you're looking for the next kicker anyway Joseph is not the answer uh you know he's been in the league he's you're not committing your your fortunes to Greg Joseph either so you know to me they're trying this guy in the preseason because if you sign a veteran for week one and you put that veteran money if this guy doesn't do it in week one or they don't like what they get in week one then then they can still go out and get a better I'm not sold that this is the answer for the season either and the the troubling thing for that is the Packers are pretty set at a lot of positions uh but not at two very interesting positions backup quarterback they're set on their guy but is is the solution there and then kicker but I think the kicker's 10 times more important than the backup quarterback you need the backup quarterback for a number of games you're just it's season's over with a kicker it's you're gonna need a kicker in discussion because if someone had come if the ners had still come back to win that game it would have been the fault of the defense or an offensive turnover it wouldn't have been the fault of Andre cars and he had missed enough kicks that it was understandable to be scared that he could do it again there was and and the anders Carlson script played out exactly as it did his first year he even in the last game he makes the 54 y all right with set all right was set and then just the founding Miss from extra point distance I here's what I would say he had to know I mean I would think if he didn't get it he had to know they just want me to prove I I can go a year I can I'll never miss a short field goal didn't he have to go on the field thinking that or not I I I'm just GNA say at that game watching that the way that game was going I don't think he had any belief he was coming back in that game that he was gonna have to kick again which is you I mean in a way whether Matt leur was was trying to make it so that they had to force the handic go somebody else or just force his belief that the guy I think it was great that that lefur did that that's the preseason that's why you do that you call on somebody unexpectedly and when Carlson missed it uh you know to me the body language said he knew he was out or very likely out and it it's easy enough that you would it's not like you you asked him to kick a 60 yard field go it's like should be able to do this in your sleep should be able to do this with no shoes on you should you know and that's the question they had no at any point in any game he's capable of missing a kick all right um now we can discussed that for a long time because we have like like three months before their first game this to me is the worst this is the worst week we should all be off there's like whatever we talk about we can talk about next Wednesday nothing occurs in the next week correct you're right you know I went to we not going to Brazil start the week after I don't remember what year it was is that your memory of it as well and clearly nothing has made them feel that they should change that well and the February ratings are better than the January rating so it gets you into the ra by starting after Labor Day push February that's what the NFL's G and I Packers win a Super Bowl it's always in in January now February back into the season yeah no I I me I believe for some time that they they just want to play the whole month of February people see seem to like winter games with terrible weather and the college basketball doesn't really start till the 1st of March with Conference tournament so just just own everything up through the end of February I I could easily see the Super Bowl being the last Sunday in February every year I think it's heading in that direction that would be shocked at all you have enough or or then you move the champion even if you don't like the cold weather you move the championship game to neutral sites for Super Bowl you got all this hype on you right through February when people are captive in their home North way all right AJ Dylan um just did it surprise you I mean is is injury that bad are they gonna settle and they just decided my my guess is they probably were not gonna have AJ Dylan on the roster this season um and you know this is a much more um courteous and respectful way to put the ball in AJ's hands um and you know if there's any sort of health issue there or question mark it's the right thing to do and if not this puts again the the the onus on Dyan to decide do you want to try to catch on somewhere else for a year or two or do you want I mean I don't who who is the backup running back up for Success after football if he stays in Green Bay no matter how he plays it yeah who is the backup running back I guess just Wilson it's going to stay that way yeah yeah well Wilson right now and you know then you hope Lloyd you know gets back to oh yeah where he contribute in a week or two you go that this is you talk about this time off was L time off for injuries to heal too so uh you know Lloyd though had durability questions in college he's certainly going to have to answer that durability question in the NFL the way this was all started for him we have a week to talk about it is there any discussion or any topic that I neglected to bring up that uh is of concern you know I I I don't think so I think here's the team uh is this team we we saw them in the in the preseason and is this team incredibly deep incredibly talented at all these spots you know when you got right down to the Final Cut there were a couple that raised eyebrows but did you think oh my god there goes a playmaker I didn't really think that and I'll admit during during the training camp portion of the season during preseason it's pretty good football team you know the cuts are the cuts are made the decisions are made you know I I don't think I don't think a division contending didn't make it guys are out there and I'm curious uh to me on the players with the defense it's going to be a different defense and and who's going to play and what are how are those people fit but we got a week I didn't have to get to it today cuz I can get to it next Wednesday and decisions made for special teams in certain cases when you know the the biggest decision and the biggest
