Brandon Aubrey best kicker in the League? Flournoy moving up? O-line back to dominance?

the defense looking at them over the course of the past two weeks them boys are stingy very they not giving up a lot and this is you know first through well we had seen the first year the second and third string I know we had a couple um first stringers popped in and out of there but man this is any indication of what we gonna be when the first stringers get back there gonna be some problems [Music] [Music] welcome to another session with them Dennis Boys on this whiskey Wednesday you got your boy bbo EJ we gonna kick off this session by starting off with some Camp notes you know in fromont the preseason game and whatnot uh kick it off the pops go ahead take it well just to talk about a couple things that um kind of were outstanding to me from this past weekend um I'd be a little bit remissive I didn't bring the most outstanding thing that happened the weekend which was my boy Brandon Aubrey kicking that 66 yard field goal 1am Brandon let's go yeah they said was good for would have been good from 72 which is awesome that tells me a couple things um if we can get the ball we having problems we can get the ball to the other team 45 you know we got three of nothing else and the way the defense is playing so stingy that's can be used down the wire you know to have a foot like that that is that's like a a team in itself almost you know granted there'll be a lot of 12 to seven ball games but you know a win is a win my book facts yeah man it's Priceless to have a kicker like that that you got you know Assurance in like that I mean especially in the playoffs and them tight games and clutch games divisional games you know it can come down to a kick so uh is very very key to H we've been got our heartbroken a couple times because of kickers you know Mason Crosby uh but you know just having that Mike Mike McCarthy should feel really good you know what I'm saying going in the games man especially in them dog fights like you said man it could be we don't know what the offense gonna look like you know thus far and like we're gonna be running the ball primarily as well too with the line being refreshed so uh kicking is gonna be major and might I add he make it look real easy real easy real clean when you think about it over the course of the years the Cowboys had some great KCK kickers from through that you know we seem to keep them just so their usefulness runs out and then we find another good one so we've been fortunate in the uh the field goal kicking uh arena for oh yeah no doubt especially that one because it came like like out of obscurity you know out of nowhere true God blessed yeah yes big time the other thing that that kind of um stood out to me was the o line the performance the last couple weeks uh for the most part they've been keeping our quarterback clean been been looking real good he's had time to throw some passes um you know when he throw that many passes you know 41 passes you had some time so oh yeah you know that's that's that's a great thing what you guys feel about the old line performance um they they look good I mean you know they want against Raiders first team defense defensively defensive line and they did great on Max C Crosby I think he had I think he had maybe one Sack or one tackle for loss one or two but I mean for the most part I mean they come off firing on the ball if you see that uh Mr BB he got his chance to go with the ones you know and he look good I mean he he tell he been working on the snap which was the biggest problem so excited and you look with Tyler G man he's firing out the ball that's the first thing that first play he fired off the ball I said oh that boy gonna be something he gonna be something special his props he's special yeah yeah I mean yeah that youth you can see the youthfulness you know restored in the line you know what I'm saying that athleticism and them reaching the levels and you see that impacted in the Run game we had 137 yards on 31 carries you know what I'm saying even though you know um Tre Lance had 34 of them but the rest of them the mo running hey he he was just doing what he do you know yeah you know do when he do he gonna get there you know no matter what um but everybody else I mean had great flashes you know Deuce dece V fin had exciting for him he he Rush the ball looking like the full potential that we was been expecting of day one uh your boy Freeman Freeman came in there he runs hard D truck he runs hard runs hard you know what I didn't notice that I've seen some highlights where he played against us last year he runs hard he does he does just his health his health has always been his his thing but when he in there he's all been productive you know you know that's one great thing right now we got a good stable of running back Plug and Play you know the best we got to do they all run hard you know they all are elusive to a certain extent so you know I'm uh I'm more optimistic about our running back situation today and say I was four or five months ago I think we're gonna be good in that area they say they say Royce Freeman's also a great special team guy to why he was picked up that's great so I'm looking forward to if he can help contribute to you know getting some carries and do what he do I say we keep four running backs I mean I like dues of course I mean they got multi offense they got multiple value yeah you can't beat that I just hope they can find him a place to to stay on the team yeah um moving over to uh the offensive side of the ball again uh the wide receivers um the guy uh floro I believe his name is he he he big time he popped Big Time Not only was he getting open running good routes but more importantly he was catching catching the ball so again I'm going to reiterate my point that I'm more um till we get CD back I'm okay with our wide receiver situation when jayen jaying jaying and Mr floro kind of carrying the load it'll it it remains to be seen which will be two three asside down the line with Brandon Cooks throwing in there so that's going to shake itself out probably by a third fourth game of the season we'll know who our one two and three solids are I mean Jayden Brooks kind of shook me there for a second when he dropped that one easy one but I feel like he was trying to sabotage my boy for a second hey weow we allow one drop everybody bounce back everybody started getting in Rhythm and you know that's that's really the thing with Tre Lance is give him a chance you know he's trying to get his feet with you see everybody got quiet you know in our little Cowboys [ __ ] after he started you know connecting pass you a see nobody say nothing from the time we talk sock put points right I was surprised you didn't come back and comment about that it ain't Need No need no need because y'all see it you know I mean y'all see that he wasn't throw no more High passes he was putting it on point course showing you can use his speak so that's that's what we like to see that's that's the positive part what I was trying to show y'all where it opens up the whole game like this is what the game is evolving to to have a mobile quarterback but you know I dig hey you're right he he made improvements and in it showed and his confidence showed too and receivers did show up and you know it didn't hurt to have a good balanced running game as well so they opened up the offense and and it showed by us scoring 27 points this week versus you know scor barely something last week and and all and all that's gonna help out CD when he come back because they're not gonna be able to just focus on him yeah reps these reps are pricess man getting these all these first team reps and in Camp and practice and all that and then being able to do it in preseason man this this is gain gaining value for our receiver room for sure tight end room too because man look true boys them boys look good too even blocking if you paying attention to them yeah it's gonna be key we're gonna do a lot of tiing two tight end sets this year I'm sure so right it's gonna be nice the other thing I wanted to mention is um the defense looking at them over the course of the past so you know you got guys who showing value throughout your death chart man it just tell you how strong it is when you gotta make them tough choice and make them Cuts man that's that's a good thing but it's a bad thing at the same time man try to keep as many on the on the practice squad as you can but Z Zimmerman you can you can tell like a lot of his defense he disguises what you see is might not what you get so I I love that so like that's G that's that makes me excited because you see them they'll line up in something and they get to move in you know what I'm saying backing off the line looking like they bought the blitz they back you know I mean I mean that's just that's beautiful yeah that can be I watch him on the sideline I just like his fire you know he's into the game he's into what his players are doing he's on top of he's managing in that process and you could tell the total a total difference um in our defense you know year overy year in terms of what he's bringing to that we already see that you know we haven't seen consistently over the past few years with the amount of success even though despite the amount of success we've had I just think he's gonna just take it to another level for us oh yeah absolutely so I mean he's apparently still got that energy you know what I'm saying that's rubbing off on the defense man because his personality and is is really rubbing off and you can see it on the field and the schemes that you know disguise and stuff like that I don't think we've had that in a long time I'm trying to think who the last person who brought that for us as a defensive coordinator man so I'm liking what we got going so far for sure sure and we a like I said the war's not even out there so I can only imagine oh yeah they'll see they'll see some action this week though it makes you more and more excited just to watch it knowing that the one not out there true so true it's gonna be amazing yeah I mean it's probably the best pre-season I think I've seen in totality in a while you know offense was a little shaky and we we understand why um but the same time they were dominating the game for the most part you know just wasn't finish D you know even first game too first game we dominated first and second game so but defense really this last preseason game um couldn't come in a better time you know CU them boys got Harbo out there and you know he's gonna be trying to make a statement in his last game and think of a better test for us to prove what we gonna be like what we're going to look like because he's you know he he don't play he brings the horses so both both sides of the ball his his teams take on his personality so sure we couldn't have a better opponent for our last preseason game than have him so we get to see some of our Ones playing this next one um not sure who they gonna keep out who is a go I guess whoever's borderline injuries trying to protect them the ones won't go and the ones who can gonna go yeah let them go at least about two series I wouldn't put about that much longer than that that's long enough to give us some indication of um their game Readiness you so so question after watching preseason game number two who's your number two quarterback are you addressing that to me or you specifically I mean well you have to look at the amount of reps that one got more than the other one so um based on the amount of reps I mean you have to go with Tre Lance but we hadn't seen we hadn't seen much of Cooper R Us you know I don't we don't have a feel for how how is or where where he's going to be at so to answer your question um Trey Lance is number two right now based on the amount of opportuni presented to him is that sir traditionally how they been playing it by letting Cooper Rush come in for those initial drives they're treating him as CDs in the second role acting death chart if you know if we're going traditionally but based on the um the occurrences that happen in the growth between week one and week two for Trey Lance it's going to be very interesting going into this last game how they play that out um I'll be in I mean who's to say if D does dress up we don't know they might set him out plot twist plot TST and they could start Tre L out that thing and then let Cooper Russ do the second half that's what I would like to honestly huh I could see that happen or they might give coer Rush one half and give Tre L that but I want the I want to go with the ones everybody but that in there I got you in CD of course okay that's what I would like to see I would like to see that speaking of CD you know all the rumors are they're pretty close to an agreement so um we can expect to see him on the field some time soon more likely we don't know what version of him we're going to get based on the fact he held out but you know it is what is y'all's opinion on him asking for more than 33 years which I mean this that's the game the contract game when one position player gets his payday to be the top guy the next guy Elite fra no matter if about one cent 100,000 whatever it is that's just how it goes but I mean it might not be might not be the dollar M might be the years it could be the the performance uh structuring in it or whatever we don't know it might not be that if they're saying it that close it's some minute stuff he gonna be up in there in a minute well we do know that these days here just like uh um in college you know nil sets the standard these days in um in pro football the players are setting the standards now you know the owners no longer have control that if you want that player you're going to have to pay that player you know or somebody else will pay him so right now it's pretty much see he can pretty much command what he want and he'll get it and that's a great thing man I'm glad the NFL is getting to that point where the players are actually being able to command that type of money especially the star players man them guys really care the league you know what I'm saying they really wouldn't get where they are you know if the NFL itself if it wasn't for the St players I agree they're the ones putting the fans in the seats I mean you know and CD CD was the offense last year for the most part me he had a big slice of that pie man so they shouldn't let him go through all that you know what I'm saying but uh him being out of Camp I'm not worrying about that no thing I'm worrying about is Dak being able to you know being used to throwing to you know Honda Accords and he get that Ferrari back out there where he get that timing right that's the only thing I'm worried about one thing I want to throw in there real quick and and watching some of the sports shows this week um more on more than one occasion on more than one show you know it was brought up that um Jerry Jones pays certain players without them having to sit out and there are certain players that he's historically hasn't paid without them holding out i w call any names but if you're a Cowboy fan and you know your cowboy history you know who all those players are on both sides of that that that situation you know and and and it's hard to argue that point because it's pretty much played out like that whether it's intentional or not I don't know I'm hoping it's not because that would paint a whole different picture of of our owner and probably I like to believe as a support of this team but you know if it cracks like a duck Walks Like A Duck and swims like a duck most of the time that's godam du you hey I heard that same point man when you go back and look at the track record and look at the pattern it adds up man you really can't argue against it and uh because some people they ain't got a waiting line the check is already waiting on them you know what I'm saying number nine ain't never had to wait he he got always got his pie a little early you know what I'm saying and and and his best bud roommate know the table sit out like that you know Lin SE Le had to wait either no he didn't you're right he stayed injured facts see I wasn't gonna call the names y'all would don't start calling names but hey he and he never really earned it now you think about it he never was on the field long enough right you know what I'm saying so that that make it even worse but I mean that's a damn duck I guess man I can't you can't look at it other way yeah you can't we also have history of off the field issues too I had to throw that out there but not all of them man it's still a variable not with all the players that he didn't pay regardless how you look at it tank a been clean em Smith hey your owner but still your owner has still been squatted on by certain players in or I think Michael Irving well he he he needed he yeah they needed I'm look B he probably took pay C because they know all the BS they had to deal with yeah just I'm just saying like you gota look at it both ways too so I mean I get it so but most cases they don't gu they don't dra that's where I'm at with it so I'm saying like certain players they'll go out and do some stupid stuff and well you just pay them or you got somebody who's an issue on the sideline cutting up I ain't gotta call his name either but you think about only one or two of those players may have been significant to the team think about it I mean significant in different different quantities but the impact still hits the same you know what I'm saying when you do certain players One Way versus the OV yeah well I mean you know we yeah okay I'm G let that go enough said on thatp it ain't gonna matter you talk about all day a Gonna Change I mean at the end of the day it's not never gonna make sense I mean I can name some players to who we paid that shouldn't have got one period yeah we can make a a long list of that you know what I'm saying but so I mean it's just you know it's hard if we ain't got 15 billion we need to shut the hell up CU ain't not gonna change I feel like with the CD situation it don't fall under that category because the amount of money he asking for he should have took whatever they just offer him if that's the rumor he should have took that because you not the number one in the league you you number two you the number two in the league not number one the number one guy got paid the number one money if your if your owner's son comes out and says they're negotiating that if he asking for that kind of money we're gonna use him as such I'm gonna get every dime I can get just in case when I'm getting these 200 targets I got some insurance to back me up I don't blame yeah but he also he also have to stay healthy and while doing so so he did what he did up to this point it's time to get paid but no matter no matter what he makes no matter what they end up giving him a week or two a month a year down the road that's going to be low again it's going to be the low number again because they keep putting put the money putting the money out there and they they're gonna keep it's just the nature the business that's what the trend is now that's what the league is bring Awards well NFL need to raise the salary cap that's what they need to do it is it goes up every year because they make it didn't go up tremendous well if the profit goes up tremendously it will go as they need to the NFL need to be treated how the NBA is being treated oh agree they way behind oh yeah they that's the PA fault yeah but yeah uh it's just the nature of the game I mean you know all that salary caps all that all that doing protecting the owners and keeping the players from getting paid the owners are making the money for sure well they are making the money you know it's just up to NFL paa to see these guys get what they just doing but even so it's just like going to a casino you might hit a jackpot this week but you know they not gonna let you in with so much because they gonna come back get that jackpot and more if you keep going back for sure but but we wouldn't even be having that conversation if they just go ahead and a lot a little more money I mean it's a lot more talent in NFL nowadays you know than back then so it's like it really shouldn't be no reason why they shouldn't have found some kind of way to raise the cap it they got a business structure in place man and they trying to Pace the growth um and then you know they do do a lot you know with allocating their money you at the same time even though they Mak hey and when making those kind of decisions about that same topic who one of the leaders that help make that decision exactly respect he ain't woring about a damn thing exactly Jerry Jones has a lot of cach sure kind of decision so he he he's trying to and this just me Playing devil's advocate I guess try to set a good example you know not trying to overe explode the salary cap situation and overplay players like this but at the bottom line you got a business run just like every other owner in the league and you got to run your business the way you see fit um because ultimately you're responsible for your losses or what have so I see what he said I see what he's trying to do but at the same time you know you can't penalize the players for performance especially when the performance is good facts or great if you want to put it that way true that true that yeah so um how do y'all guys feel about the um Carl Lawson signing and Jordan Phillips they know two good additions we we'll get to actually see when they get to play with all the ones to see the you know the the finishing product it turns I think they probably brought them in to start for the Run game especially Philips pH is a big boy so I feel like we've seen some flashes with him already I feel like that was a good pick up to replace your boy haning so exactly yeah yeah had that big body man 66 341 pounds man and he gets that push man that's that's major we need that an or something like that just can't go outside and pull one of them off a tree no walking around like that who's agile you know what I'm saying who can actually move and make an impact so yeah that's big um defitely yeah for sure we needed that um Carl Lawson man he's a veteran that's you know been very productive even on even bad teams and I heard him saying his little interview on the sidelines that uh this is the first time he actually been like in possible win winning situation where he actually can have an impact and actually play with a lead you know what I'm saying and and that that really you know caught my ear when I heard that because that's something very major so I'm so he very hungry and very um anxious to get out there because it's couldna be a big payday for him he's he's been really good man he he was a big star coming out of college you know what I'm saying for sure sure he I think he's gonna be big for that was a great signing right there will mlay but yeah but besides besides their physical ability you know now you've got some more experience in a young locker room you know and that's big you know that's very big you're right one of the things that hurt us I felt in the past that we didn't have clear cut cut leaders um in the locker room which you could pretty much point to and say well that's the man you know we just didn't have it especially on the defensive side the ball no one really you had some guys attempted to do it but you had no one that really quote unquote you could say that's the man you know what I'm saying we need some of those men in that locker room to help guide these young guys and really allow them to realize their full potentials true actually you know what now think about it um those two might get Ola back back free you know what I'm saying I think he was getting schemed on last year once he started having success so getting him back you know one onone in that middleman I think he can have a big year as well yeah so those guys really gonna
