Community Upset as WCSD Considers Youngsville School Consolidation

War County tonight the potential consolidation and closure of Youngsville Middle School was the big Topic at The District's school board meeting our Bureau reporter Jackie Palmer has more attendance was high both virtually and in person for the Warren County School District's board meeting tonight talk centered on the possible closure and consolidation of Youngsville Middle High School with a High School portion of the school being Consolidated and sent to a distant neighboring School in Russell it's great to see so much Civic engagement going on in Warren County we are facing a serious budget crisis in the next 3 to 5 years and we have to make sure that we can continue to provide the level of Education that our students deserve after the board passed the vote for the public hearing many parents and students expressed their frustrations and voice concerns about longer bus rides and the safety of students at new locations I don't really like agree with the school closing cuz me personally I walk to school right now and like I don't really want to be bust that far to Eisenhower we are trying to sell to them why we think Youngsville should stay open compared to Eisenhower but this school board has not sold to us why they think they should shut youngville down the door swings both ways in my opinion consolidation is a very complex topic there's really no hard this is the right decision this is not the right decision because there's so many factors involved while emotions were high board members acknowledged the long-standing nature of the issue we as a board are working very hard our Administration is incredible to try to ensure that we can put the Warren County School District in the strongest position for the next decades reporting in Warren County Jackie Palmer eie news now and the board has scheduled a public hearing for October 2nd at the Warren Area High School auditorium where the community will have another chance to voice their opinions on the possible closure of that school we'll continue to follow this and continue to update you on air and online
