taking dimes you're not I would take dimes contract like both contract like the DeShaun Watson contract okay 250 or 260 yes he has he has three years left $138 million fully guaranteed he holds $ 172.7cm unless he starts playing he the cap hit is outrageous in 2526 and to your point about the injuries last year there were a lot of Whispers coming out of Cleveland that they thought he should play and he didn't play through the injury and then he elected for the surgery and and there's no worse comment you can make on a pro athlete you guys know that as pro athletes there's nothing worse so violent and everyone's injured and that position in particular you have to play through injury like you have to it's it's imperative you do everything you can to get on the field and Watson this is the scary thing about guaranteed contracts and this is what owners and the league is always fighting back with the union for we it's too violent of a game to allow a guy to say I don't have to play is so fun to watch play he's so fun to watch play and yeah it just wasn't it wasn't a day of of quarterbacking necessarily it was a day of you know defense being strong and you know certain guys went off I thought the game last night on Sunday night was a great ball game goes to overtime and the Lions yeah yeah you're the coach there Danny Campbell was doing his thing and they went a flip and you know good for them the lions are a good team and they played mean and nasty last night and it's a hard-nosed you know quality game and I think we're going to get that tonight like you you really can't ask for much better than this you got Jets Niners tonight and then on Thursday you've got the bills in Miami playing the Dolphins so you know two games in the next four nights that mean a lot four really good team I don't want to like dig inside your head but don't you get the sense that the ners are just going to absolutely destroy the Jets I just like I'm not trying to oh he's trying to get in their head I'm not I'm not but I my initial look at this is the Niners absolutely destroy the Jets I I don't know doesn't it come down to Rogers and not having a clue what you're going to see out of him like really last year we weren't certain what we'd see out of him but he was healthy and it was at home against the bills he was usually money let's make this a Jerry's let's let's say this was their mind that was going to be outrageous where they're like like tb12 man he's just the he's awesome at this and clearly it it's probably going to take some time and after time if it doesn't get better I wouldn't be surprised if Tom Brady just walks right out of that booth and says check please than he might Drew Breeze it yeah I want to give him time because you could tell right away they go to him and he was stiff like you could tell there were some nervous nerves attached to it I remember my first time and first probably several times doing color doing that position it's hard like there's a lot of moving Parts I was telling you Hayes off air funny story about my first time I was in Montreal working with our buddy Dave randorf and you know you got to describe a play well I was looking at the Jumbotron and not what was on the the video for me so they showed like CL Julian standing there and I'm like as you see it goes D to D and I was completely describing something wrong and randorf like just poked me and pointed at the monitor going that that's what you're describing not the Jumbotron like there's a lot of moving Parts I want to give him a couple weeks but you're right o the the bar is Tony Romo we saw Tony Romo out of a game into the booth and you're like this guy's a rockar so the expectation Tom Brady this is Tom Brady the football player should know everything should know the plays and I think he was I think he was prepared but he looked nervous and and I thought his timing was off like it was yeah it was and the day everybody's going to end up hating him anyway everybody hates Romo people just hate on people hate us for reason whatever like he's just like Romo has regressed I think where it's just like yes well and I think it's a perfect example of the way that they played like Tom Brady did not play a style that that was exuberant it was just it was just smart and precise perfect smart and precise he read the defense he knew his offense he knew every single situation and he was like it was like artificial intelligence it's like this is what we're going to do cuz they're going to do that where Romo had a little bit more Gunslinger and running around and Romo came into the booth as if he wasn't prepared and he's just watching the game and he's jumping out of his seat and there was an element of that that was really refreshing and really cool where I would guess Brady's overly prepared I'll bet you he's had he's like if we get into a situation like this in the second quarter where they're stopping back and he's got an RPO going I'm going to say this can't do that if you're broadcasting you cannot be thinking if I see this I'm going to say that that's when you get stiff that's when it doesn't sound as if it's organic because you just end up waiting around for that moment exactly and you miss stuff because you're looking for something that you think should be coming or you're prepared for you can't have it that way and there's another element to the Brady reaction is we know the money is making which is very different right we know how much money that they're paying him so and it's the NFL you're the a team in the NFL You're The A Team on Fox if you're Romo if you're Aman if you're Collinsworth you're the best of the best and he's got to step right in there and and prove it I think he deserves time like everyone else I have no question that Brady will get better but this is a different level of of pressure and nerves as well because like when you're playing the sport you've played your whole life and you get there for the first time and you step on the ice or the field you're like I'm I'm prepared I'm nervous because I haven't done it but I'm prepared and I know how to throw the ball I know how to make a save I know how to shoot the puck yeah you cannot prepare for a live broadcast there's no pregame there's no practicing that way he's never been in that situation and you could just see it he looked like a guy that was first day of school he had the a suit on and went for the got he wasn't moving he was kind of like I just I was nervous for he was nervous man you could tell now scepter do we like this tell us what what are we thinking about this it feels powerful it feels strong so I feel really good about it it's it's exciting we have you know team names and next will be the jerseys but no it feels great I'm a seor did did you guys have any like I know that's goes way above our heads people are naming a team but any input from you guys or no this was like you got a phone call and said by the way we're this now so I hope you like it yeah not much input but I know they took a lot of input and a lot of time to come up with the name obviously it was a lot of way above what we would do um a lot of research and all that but um yeah I I only found out yesterday okay before the big reveal today nice well I guarantee you you guys probably as a team have a group a scepter there you go I like it I like it well it coincides with the news last week right Coca-Cola Coliseum you'll be playing the majority of your games down there as well which is huge um it's been a whirlwind 12 months I guess 16 18 months since this was you know like the arrival of the pwhl we knew it was coming six teams we knew the cities we went through the draft we went through free agencies we've been through a season and now we got the names we've got the colors um how do you digest all this like you look back in the last 18 months for you natal how do you how do you kind of try to describe what life has been like for you and and I guess all the women throughout the pwl if you can speak for them yeah I guess I was doing a bit of reflecting today and as much as it's all happened so fast there's so much that has happened that it almost feels like a lot longer um but really like the draft was almost about a year ago um which is crazy so to see you know just the amount of momentum we've created and how far we've come and the records that we broke um you know people that want the tickets and now to be able to move up in venue to the Coca-Cola Coliseum it's just exciting I think it's an exciting time for women's hockey and I think um we're only going to just continue to build that momentum and I think having team names is kind of that next step um pretty historic step to now have like your you know your original six have names which is pretty cool did you develop any rivalries last year I know there some of the games got a little chippy and there was some language and some you know scrums and stuff like that do you feel like you carry it on into the next season uh I mean I feel like with Montreal there's always kind of that rivaly and we played against them at Scotia Bank Arena and then we played against them at the Bell Center so two pretty big games and sold out games so that was pretty big for us um I probably Minnesota after losing to them in the playoffs um will be a big one that we'll want to come back and um show them so yeah it's crazy when there's only six teams so you you play the same team quite a bit absolutely with Natalie Spooner of the Toronto scepter and speaking with women you know affiliated with the league whether they're you know players or broadcasters uh it kept coming up like the importance of getting this right like getting the names right getting the team colors right getting the logos right like this is it the inaugural 6 I'm sure the hope is who knows maybe in a decade there's 12 teams and then there's 24 and then there's 32 hopefully it just follows in those footsteps of other major professional sports leagues in North America uh do you share the same sentiment like now that you know the six names and you look at the team colors and the logos like how important it is to get it right and then furthermore to Market these and make sure people you know accept them and they become kind of household names for sure I mean I think everything last season came together so quick that even as players we were questioning like is this going to be able to happen and be able to be turned around so quick and it end up being you know bigger and better than we could have ever imagined but to to think on top of all that work to be able to come up with team names and logos and execute on that I'm glad they took the extra year to be able to you know meet the teams um meet the fan base and get a real sense of what the community um in each city was about and I think that lot of the the team names do reflect the cities really well and um you know the people that come out to cheer us on well we'll we'll ask you a personal question about your own play I mean I it really could not have gone any better for you you led the league in goals points you won the MVP how do you possibly build off that going into season two I don't know I mean I think uh I mean it's been a tough summer too with you know my knee injury and rehabbing that but really just I guess you know coming off pregnant before I had to tell myself to just have Grace and just stick to the process and every day just work hard to get better so I'm kind of just doing that same process now and I'm sure you know it'll be tough at first getting back on the ice I probably won't feel exactly like myself but just keep working day in and day out and hopefully um get back to feeling good absolutely well it's a big day I mean it every every big you know moment feels like okay we could be looking back on this hopefully decade from now 20 30 years from now saying I remember when uh Toronto scepter there you go I like the logo what do you think of the logo some people are saying Taylor Swift maybe had access to this before you ladies grabbed it I mean what do you what do you make it being associated with t- Swift I mean we're big t- Swift fans on our team so we don't mind okay but I mean I think it's pretty powerful I I love the logo it's strong uh I mean with the scepter going right down the middle the T for Toronto I love it all right perfect we love it too we're we're on board all right now got get to our game now
