Tim Miller TEARS APART Trump’s Bizarre Debate Defense of Jan 6th Rioters! | Bulwark Takes

hey guys it's Tim Miller from the bork I got to tell you it was so bad for Donald Trump it was so horrendous like there were so many moments to talk about from the debate uh you know the the how he concepts of plans the dog and pet eating uh just his face his glow that he wouldn't look at at K Harris like the conspiracy talking about how he kind of implied that the Democrats were motivating the shooter that that to assassinate him it was just like moment after moment of just total nonsense or extreme views or things that were not politically advantageous or just word salad there a bunch of moments of word salad but for me there was one moment that I I I guess hasn't gotten lost but I feel like because Trump's evening was so terrible because there's so much to discuss about his failures um it hasn't Maybe gotten the salience and the attention that I would have expected um had he been a normal politician Donald Trump said this and this was our one big mistake of the debate it'd be the only thing we were talking about today and um and because he made so many mistakes there are a lot of things we're talking about and this one's like maybe three or four down the list but to me it's it's number one it's number one for me and that was his answer to David murer on January 6th um I talked about a little bit on the podcast but I want to go deeper on it right now let's rewatch if you missed it Donald Trump responding to David Mir about whether he has any regrets on January 6th Mr President on January 6th you told your supporters to March to the capital you did send out tweets but it was more than two hours before you sent out that video message uh telling your supporters to go home is there anything you regret about what you did on that day you just said a thing that isn't covered peacefully and patriotically I said during my speech not later on peacefully and patri I odically and nobody on the other side was killed Ashley babbett was shot by an out of control police officer that should have never ever shot her it's a disgrace there a couple key points there that I just want to really dig in on the first one is he talks about how there are people that are on the other side that didn't get injured on the other side the people on the other side didn't get injured and some think he's doing this this just kind of rapid words out he's talking he's talking he's talking he's blabbing it's nonsense it's lies it's like hard to keep track everything that he's saying he just talked about Ashley babbit who had been killed and that was kind of jarring and then and then he's like and then people on the other side weren't injured and in real time I didn't even catch this I just I have to admit um I I caught it upon rewatching because of the other horrible thing that he says a sentence later um and then on rewatch I was like wait who is the other side who's the other side who's he talking about and and it's obvious I I assume you figured it out by now he's talking about the capital police that that in Donald Trump's warped mind that J January 6 was some kind of battle between two teams the magga team that wanted to overturn the election the insurrectionists the people that stormed the capital the people that [ __ ] on the capital the people that waved their racist flags and wave their Trump Flags right next to him um and it was them the magga team his team against the other team which was the Capitol Police the people who wanted to defend and uphold the Constitution I guess Mike Pence is on the other team um others Nancy Pelosi of course would be on the other side and I just think about how warped that is and how demented that is that that is where his head is at when he thinks about that horrible day and that attack on the capital Donald Trump's view of it is that the the people on the other side the cops back to Blue right the people on the other side did not no none of them got injured he sees them on the other team they didn't suffer it was his people that suffered the ones that have gone to jail or in Ashley babbit's case died now many problems with this number one there's people on his side that provoked it nobody would have been injured nobody would have been jailed nobody anything had Donald Trump and his minions not uh you know uh attempted a Siege a violence Siege on the capital so that's one pretty big problem with this worldview uh the other is that people did get injured many people get injured over a 100 cops were injured officer Ryan snik died later that week Michael fenon suffered injuries um many of these other Capital police you've met uh people lost digits like there just horrible and you've seen the videos let's just let's just watch one second of the video there our country we want back [ __ ] these where's yeah you saw what happened those they were getting tased so they were injured so like he is both wrong on the facts and disgustingly wrong in the facts frankly given what these people sacrificed what these Capital police sacrificed for our country um and and then also in addition to that he sees them as foes the victims the the the the ones that are that have sworn to uphold and protect the country he sees them as the foes it's just horrific and then in case there's any doubt about that he he goes on and let's just play that clip one more time but we didn't do this group of people that have been treated so badly I ask what about all the people that are pouring into our country and killing people that she allowed to P in what about those people what's what are they going to be prosecuted okay yeah catch that again cuz he catches himself he he says we it's like who's we and then and then he kind of pauses and he's like that group of people was being treated very badly who's the group of people that's being treated very badly the so-call hostages the violent criminals that have been jailed for their actions that day Donald Trump again saw them as we like he was he with them like that was M posy the people that are being treated very badly in his mind the people that have been jailed for their their violent assault on um individual Americans as well as the Constitution I it was just we all kind of know this right like you know that Donald Trump still you know Harbors like ill will for anyone to tried to deny him his uh coup attempt um we all know you know we all know that but still for him to kind of like admit it and reveal is this sort of revealed um insight into his sick mind that like it it isn't kind of like this General sense of oh those people are nice to me and so I should be nice to them that would be bad too right um or the sense that oh like this was big accident and and the capital police were trying to do the right thing and my people are trying to do the right thing and and it was just this unfortunate coincidence and and I you know um I I I respect both sides you know you can imagine some other like still bad had like more normal you know rationalization for what happened but that's not where he is he looks at it and he's like no the Capitol Police were bad the riers were good the riers are the one that deserve our sympathy and the riers are the one that I'll take care of if I get back in there that will be my muscle if I get back in there um it's pretty bleak it's pretty bleak it's unprecedented obviously to have a major Party candidate that espouses that kind of worldview and and just to be to be abundantly clear it's disqualifying in itself like nothing else he did nothing else everything else he said in the debate was totally normal like normal regular middle of the road Republican if he was Mitt Romney the rest of the time and he's like I want to cut taxes and cut regulation and I whatever um I think we should have a strong alliances in the world and um and also uh I think that the capital riers were good and uh and the police that were there at the capital on the other side disqualifying disqualifying if you're a conservative if you're some a decent human he should be disqualified just from that one statement and so because of how much other chatter there was about it I felt like it was worthwhile just to narrow in on that one horrific exchange and um and and maybe we should leave ourselves with uh how the vice president responded to that because she really nailed it I was at the the capital on January 6th I was the vice president elect I was also an acting Senator I was there and on that day the president of the United States incited a violent mob to attack our nation's capital to desecrate our nation's capital on that day 140 law enforcement officers were injured and some died and understand the former president has been indicted and impeached for exactly that reason but this is not an isolated situation let's remember Charlottesville where there was a mob of people carrying tiki torches spewing anti-semitic hate and what did the president then at the time say there were fine people on each side let's remember that when it came to the proud boys a militia the president said the former president said stand back and stand by so for everyone watching who remembers what January 6th was I say we don't have to go back let's not go back we're not going back it's time to turn the page and if that was a bridge too far for you well there is a place in our campaign for you to stand for country to stand for our democracy to stand for rule of law and to end the chaos and to end the approach that is about attacking the foundations of our democracy because you don't like the outcome and be clear on that point Donald Trump the candidate has said in this election there will be a bloodbath if this and the outcome of this election is not to his liking let's turn the page on this let's not go back let's let's chart a course for the future and not go backwards to the Past man what more can you want what more can could you ask for from vice president Harris um a moving response an accurate response and um and and and I think a smart one to kind of welcome any decent person to her side to her campaign even if they have disagreements on policy um we'll we
