from the Action Network and Introduction fantasy Labs I'm your host Chris Raybon and I'm joined by one of the top fantasy rankers in the business has been top five most accurate over the last three seasons in the fantasy pros season one contest has won the the inseason contest what four times now the oddsmaker Sean kerer Sean what's going on what's up H like I'm excited for this pod I love this format where we get to kind of talk about pretty much every rookie running back and have like a friendly uh you know draft competition oh yeah so this is our rookie running back episode where where we're going to do a two-man draft uh eight guys each uh we'll go back and forth uh and there's there's no real rules you could draft any running back uh you want but uh we are trying to uh maximize value versus average draft position so it's not as simple as you know taking a guy like yeah uh who am I thinking of uh Jonathan Brooks or Trey Bon I mean there's not not a lot of obvious guys this year so it kind of works right into it anyway but um yeah we're trying to maximize value through ADP and the reason we do this is because and I'll get to the results of last year in the second but the reason we do this is because number one rookie running backs uh tend to to beat their ADP they tend to be very valuable uh whether it's as a handcuff or a late round baseball kind of pick or or you know a guy you pick up on Waiver Wires who ends up being a League winner over the you know a certain stretch of the year for you so um the this is one of the ways in which you win draft uh late uh so uh really excited to talk about it and uh just to recap last year's draft uh I I had the first pick I went I actually did go Last Season's Rookie RBs bejan Robinson that worked out well but Sean you had a really good uh first pick you ended up going Devon Anan uh with your first pick any any thoughts on uh just how that turned out and how your overall uh draft turned out yeah no I thought I thought he had a ton of upside in that scheme and you know backing up rahee Moser uh he he was RV 43 where where did he even end up because I know he missed a handful of games but um I I think he could have really crushed that but I think all the Miss games might have even it out a bit but um he was 24th oh okay yeah yeah so he was obviously a hit um I like Chase Brown uh you know entering the year he was my second pick um I loved Zack sharb obviously um I think the the only other one that hit ah n no I kind of fell apart um but um a guy like uh generic Prince maybe I was a year or two early on him it does look like he's kind of trending to be potentially Isaiah P's um backup this year um but yeah I think that the aan pick and Chase Brown specifically were the ones I like the most and those ended up being uh pretty good did you calculate like uh who won that or like how did you do that yeah I did so I'm trying to pull it up I I don't have the spreadsheet FR but I did write it down in the outline so uh I ended up scoring uh 736 half PPR points between all my eight running backs uh you had 357 so I guess after Anan there W it wasn't as close uh in terms of ADP value uh in total uh the running backs I chose finished 119 spots cumulatively below their ADP which uh you know isn't great but this that's because we're literally taking every single running back uh and then and yours was double that yours about minus 238 so uh you got you got some you got some work to do you got to redeem yourself this year what the hell started off really well with h and I'll just give people the the draft order for last year in case you guys are curious uh I went bejon Robinson uh who was ADP rb3 you went H Chan at RB 43 I went Shawn Tucker RB 78 you went Chase Brown 64 I went Tai J Spears that was a pretty good one uh you went Chris Rodriguez uh only I think one or two games for him uh then I went jir Gibbs which was another hit you went with your boy Zack shanet uh who who was solid but uh probably didn't do as well as hoped uh could break out this year I went tank bsby still still waiting for him uh you went Dwayne McBride remember that hype train with uh it was like him and Tai Chandler Madison all all those guys uh that was that was a cluster uh I went kendre Miller who actually had like one good game I think late in the year that saved some of his value uh you went Zack Evans uh I went R Roshan Johnson who's solid uh you went daic Prince another guy preseason hype guy didn't pan out another one I went with Israel aananda also didn't pan out probably won't even make the jet roster this year and then uh you ended it with Evan Hull who I think played like one snap for the Colts and they got H A lot of these guys didn't pan out I think my my plan will just be to just draft the best guys uh you know if you got bejon Robinson and Jamir Gibbs why am I even messing around with ADP well I mean it's not that easy this year anyway so but you can have the first pick uh I had it last year I don't even know why but uh yeah so any rookie running back uh is on the board I I'll give the listeners just so they have some context I'll give you some of the early adps for some of these guys Jonathan Brooks for the Panthers is going rb28 Trey Benson of the Cardinals uh 36 Blake corm of the Rams 40 Marshon Lloyd 45 he's on the Packers Jaylen Wright of the Dolphins is 47 kamani Vidal of the Chargers 53 Ray Davis of the bills 55 brayan Allen of the Jets 57 and Bucky Irving uh is 58 uh he is on the Tampa Bay Bucks and and there's a bunch of more guys I'm not going to name every one of them but they're all on the table the the floor is yours uh who you got I'm going to go with Blake corm at RV 40 damn it um yep Blake Corum yep yep yep uh I I like the landing spot the Rams um you know he was a third round pick very highly touted Prospect out of Michigan he is coming off a bit of a Down Season uh he had a knee injury in 2022 so um you know 2023 he he was a bit of a disappointment but I think that that should be uh in the rearview mirror at this point and he kind of reminds me of like a bulked up Philip Lindy or even like a Doug Martin type of back you know smaller back but they're really bulky and you know they can you know you know run hard kind of run between tackles um so I think he has a ton of upside on the Rams because um he's a Kiron Williams injury away uh for potential rb2 value in my opinion but there's also you know a non-zero chance uh he could Leap Frog kirn I mean uh Kiron was excellent last year but the Rams backfield tends to be pretty volatile under Shawn McVey I mean this time last year we thought cam Acres was gonna be the starting back um then Kiron took over uh and you know Kiron I I loved him as a prospect I thought he was a really good pass catching back I think he was a sixth round fifth or sixth round pick so corm has a better pedigree there's a chance he could Leap Frog him so I like getting him here at RB 40 yeah that would have been the guy I would go at first I think he's he kind of sticks out is that that queer guy especially because you know the guy that went first at running back in the draft Jonathan Brooks out of Texas uh he's likely to miss games to start the season so uh that that that that kind of makes it a little tougher here there's no slam dunk picks I think like a bejan Robinson like a jir Gibbs uh this season so uh can go any which direction here uh but I would have definitely gotten Korum and I am high on him in All formats uh this season for those exact reasons you laid out uh with my first pick second overall Trey Benson uh of our rookie running back Fantasy Draft I going to roll with Trey Benson out of Florida State uh on the Arizona card Cal and you know there is kind of a little glut of journeyman running backs on that team as well but uh I like Benson's chances of getting some early playing time because James Connor is still still very good he's not he's not washed up or anything uh if you watch him on tape but James Conor has struggled to stay on the field pretty much every season of his career uh he has missed at least three games in five of the last six uh Seasons so 13 games played in 2022 13 games played in 2023 uh so I do think Benson stands out among you know guys that are I think more situational backs like a d Marcado or uh who do they got there Michael Carter I think is still there uh Tony Jones is there like none of those guys really stick out as a guy that you would give a a substantial workload to they might come in for some Pass Downs snaps here there you know a little situational usage but I think Benson's a guy who you know when if Conor misses you know four or five games uh Benson has a very good shot at you know getting 15 or or more touches in a game in each of those games and we saw down the stretch last year the Cardinals really leaned in to their run game they became a very effective uh running football team especially once Kyler Murray was back and it kind of took some pressure off uh that entire offense and and let you know didn't allow defenses to just load up on James Conor and the rest of those guys so uh Trey Benson second running back taken in the draft second running back taken uh in our rookie running back draft he uh his ADP is around RB uh 36 which I think is a little high um honestly because I do think Conor will open the ears the unquestioned lead back but um in terms of you know guys in front of them a back most likely to go down I think Benson is near the top of the list taking advantage of that yeah I think I would say he's the oon favorite to lead running backs and fantasy points this year um you know ultimately it's going to come down to the health of their starting running back so in his case you know James Conor um if he ends up missing a ton of time he's he's gonna get more points but he actually reminds me a bit of James Connor uh who he will be backing up and um he's a great Runner he he actually only lost one fumble his entire uh college career so he's just a solid solid backup um who you know I think again is o on favorite with Jonathan Brooks expected to miss the first couple games all right third overall pick uh your second where you going all right well I'm GNA have to go back to the well here and take a Dolphins rookie running back I'm going to go Jaylen Wright at RB 47 um but again similar to Anan I think Jaylen Wright that he is a perfect fit for the Dolphins he's fast 4.38 uh speed and explosive so again he's just a great fit for the Dolphins uh scheme and while he's going to start the season as you know the number three back clearly behind rahee Moser and Devon Anan um this offense has shown it's capable of supporting two relevant fantasy backs at a time so he only really needs one of those backs to miss time to I think you know put up some decent numbers and with you know moser's going to be 32 or 33 this year uh he's been injury-prone aan you know dealt with injuries last year um you know I think he he could get a couple you know SP starts or at least be the number two back here and he's he's a bigger back actually he's 210 pounds and fast he's proven to be durable so you know long term you know he he might be a solution for them to have a guy that's healthy all the time and he's more than capable of handling a three down rle uh if needed so I just love his upside here at rb47 yeah anytime Mike McDaniel acquires a new you know speed Speedy toy uh for that uh that dolphin offense I think you have to take note for fantasy and you know this is kind of a he's kind of more of a you know best ball flyer really late round pick and in regular drafts that I'm sure doesn't even get drafted in every single redraft league but definitely a guy that I agree has that aan like upside and you brought up a really good point of well he is the number three running back but he's in a unique situation where he has two different ways to kind of benefit because it could be a moster injury or an hn injury and he' likely come in into uh fantasy relevance because that offense is able to support uh multiple backs in its current form so I I like that one as well all right with my second pick fourth overall in our rookie running Braelon Allen back Fantasy Draft I'm going to roll with brayan Allen uh of the New York Jets he's a guy been high on uh all off season uh he was a fourth rounder out of Wis conon and he has the inside track to the number two job on the Jets they were as I mentioned at the top really not happy with Israel abanana Cana a guy they drafted on on day three last year uh you know they they just kind of he didn't really pan out for them and I they've kind of shown they they've moved on by drafting not one but two uh more rookie runningbacks on day three uh this season you know you had uh brayan Allen out of Wisconsin and you also had Isaiah Davis uh fifth rounder out of South Dakota State both of those guys probably will P have already passed up aband can abanda excuse me but Allen you know word out of Jets camp is they're already calling it The Killer Bees backfield you know uh brayan Allen and Bree Hall and you know it's kind of easy to forget because the Jets just had such a tumultuous season last year that this is a team with a very very good defense uh a team that now gets to play a softer schedule because uh they didn't do so hot last year they they have a they'll have a good quarterback in Aaron Rogers assuming he can you fully get back from that that injury even though he is older you know he doesn't have to do much they have a elite receiver so a lot is in place for this team to be in positive game scripts uh I have them favored in in a lot of games this year I'm looking at my projected spreads across the whole year so um I think there'll be been a lot of positive gam script and brillan Allen one Bree Hall injury away uh from really kicking it into high gear for a team that's kind of tailor made for a running back to have success and remember Aaron Rogers no stranger to handing it off to multiple guys you know he had that Aaron Jones Jamal Williams thing going on in Green Bay then he had the uh Aaron Jones AJ Dylan thing that didn't go as well but uh you know that that's the kind of usage I think uh we could potentially expect for Allen if he plays well because I don't know if if you're going to give Bree Hall 37 carries every game like you did in week uh what was it week 18 last year uh so I think Allen they want him to play that dvin cook the role they had ticketed for dvin cook remember when dvin cook was supposed to be a thing and be more be more involved and they tried it but it just didn't work uh I think you could see that with Allen and he could have Standalone Flex value even if Bree Hall is healthy so I really like me some uh some Allen I think he could play on on all three Downs as well uh and uh has some Talent there so I'll take him with my uh second pick fourth overall all right number pick number five who you got uh I'm gonna go with my guy uh Bucky Bucky Irving Irving here of the bucks um you know he's arguably the best pass catching back in this class um and you know he's a smaller back um so I I don't know if uh he could ever handle like a full workload but I do like this landing spot because uh the depth behind Rashad white was an issue last season uh you know Rashad white hasn't really been official in his first two seasons and certainly we can blame a lot of that on the Bucks offensive line I think the coaching staff realizes that that's why he's been a Workhorse back but he really hasn't had any competition behind him so I think you know Irving um having the inside track to to be White's backup which he's having a great Camp all signs point to him being um you know White's backup uh he could some put some pressure on white if he continues to struggle and you know Irving is efficient as a rookie um where he could force some sort of you know running back committee with a healthy white so I I like his upside without even needing an injury um and again like if if white were to miss time I think he he'd be like an rb3 Flex value type I don't know if he could really handle 20 plus touches but um he just has a nice floor ceiling combo for for a back that's going just inside the top 60 where I don't think he really needs an injury to to carve out a role as rookie I think he could do that um as a pass catching back and again he he's having a really really good camp and I'm not surprised I think he's he's one of the most unrated backs you know he went in the fourth round but I love this landing spot so I'm going to take him here at RB 58 yeah I I he's rising in my ranks as well it sounds like Chase Edmonds is dealing with some kind of injury he hasn't really been able to get on the practice field so a lot of valuable second team reps uh for Bucky Irving and I think he can handle the workload uh he did have a couple games in in uh at Oregon where he had you know 20 plus c cares but I think the real issue with him that the only thing that would probably cap his ceiling at least in year one is he's a terrible pass blocker so but that can be a good thing in fantasy we've talked about this right because if you're a terrible pass blocker but you're an offensive weapon they're just they're just not gonna make you pass block when you're on the field you're gonna run a route and and you're probably gonna get targeted so uh I don't really mind you know when rookies are like bad pass blockers especially if you know we're just kind of looking for upside and you know they the way they'd probably come into playing time anyway is due to an injury when there just are less options and he's going to have to be on the field for those situations anyway so uh yeah I think Irving is a rockid pick that's actually where I would have gone next uh had you not taken him so you already sniped uh pretty much you got Corum I wanted him and you got uh Irving I wanted him so you're you're already on way go already on a way to uh redeeming yourself uh from last year from my third pick six MarShawn Lloyd overall in our rookie uh running back fantasy twom man uh 16 round draft I I am going to roll with Marshon Lloyd of the Green Bay Packers this is one where I'm just trying to catch lightning in a bottle here but I really like the talent of this guy Marshon ly I I think that I don't think they would have drafted him uh and spent a fairly uh you know they made a substantial investment you know third rounder um that's that's a pretty valuable pick here I don't think they would have done it uh if they didn't think that he could contribute in some fashion this year remember they you know they they they've just paid uh Jordan love the most expensive quarterback contract so they're in firmly in win now mode so I I don't know if this is necessarily at first I thought it was going to be kind of like a an AJ Dylan red shirt year but uh then I came to my senses and realized that AJ Dylan's just never been that good and maybe if he was he would have had a red shirt so uh I think Marshon Lloyd can absolutely beat out AJ Dylan for the number two rooll uh by the time you know we're recording the week one fantasy Flex podcast even so I I think you know this is a GU to watch could have a big preseason has been taking uh some first team reps with Josh Jacobs out of the lineup after himself missing some some Camp early on has looked really good I think he was he over seven yards a carry uh yes over seven yards a carry uh in his junior year at uh uh at USC I just think this guy has a ton of talent I think he's on a great offense they've shown that they kind of are willing to work in a lot of guys you know last year they used both rookie tight ends uh very heavily jayen Reed was used very in a lot of different ways as a rookie uh this is a very young team so I think Marshon Lloyd is just another one of these dangerous weapons uh that you're GNA have to deal with I mean playing the NFC North this year is not not going to be fun I mean the Vikings might be the worst team and then you got to worry about Justin Jefferson but the Packers are loaded on offense the we know about the the Lions and the Bears so uh yeah I think Martian Lloyd uh is has a really good chance to have uh to carve out a role regardless of what happens with Jacobs but uh the talent I think uh could definitely win out here great beste ball pick too so I'm going with Lloyd uh with my third pick sixth overall nice yeah I thought I thought he was one of the more unrated backs heading in uh to the draft um I'm always a bit partial when it comes to USC Trojan players though but he was a five-star recruit out of high school but uh he tore his ACL um heading into his freshman year at South Carolina so he didn't play much until like you mentioned his junior year at USC looked fantastic um he kind of gives me like Ray Rice Vibes very very good player um and he's getting Aaron Jones comparisons in Camp which is good to hear when it comes to the Packers so um yeah right now he's he's battling AJ Dylan but I think Talent will prevail at some point and I think he should be you know Josh Jacobs backup this year all right we're up to pick number seven your fourth overall we're going 16 rounds eight picks each uh who you got next in our rookie running back fantasy draft for 2024 all right I'm gonna go with uh Ray Davis at RB 55 um you know Ray Davis he the bills took him in the fourth round he's out of Kentucky I really like this landing spot for Davis uh you know the bills maybe they're trying to redo their Zach Moss Draft pick from a few years ago you know he kind of struggled for the bills and then he ends up on the Colts and uh he's really good and he got a you know KN new deal with the the Bengals so I think they they do want like a bigger back like Davis to maybe take some of the load away from James Cook um you know who they probably don't want to have a full workload again this year and you know last year they were they were giving um Tai Johnson quite a bit of work but I think Davis um is more talented and should be able to beat him out uh in Camp in preseason so that's something to monitor but I think he could fill in you know short yardage situations um you know hopefully around the goal line but he's more than capable of handling you know three down workload if Cook were to miss time so I think he has you know against couple different paths to kind of hit value this year so like the value of him here at RB 55 yeah you really came ready in this one because you're just sniping all the guys oh did you want him next oh okay oh yeah yeah we're definitely on the same page with that one um but uh I like Ray Davis probably even more than you I know you have some some concerns about him uh you know being like a full three down back I think we have you have some concerns about passing downside right yeah yeah yeah I think he's more of an early down back but I think he's he's more than capable um of a three- down role um you know he's he's a bigger back again when it came to Bucky Irving I I just don't know if um his size can really handle a full workload uh in the NFL You' mentioned you know he had some games with like 20 25 plus Touches at Oregon I mean that offensive line was ridiculously good he wasn't really taking many hits playing behind that offensive line so I think the NFL level it'll be tougher for him whereas Ray Davis he is smaller you know he's only 58 but he is 210 and plays you know a bit bigger but you know last year he had 33 receptions he he is you know a good uh pass catching back again to your note like he he does struggle with pass blocking I think most rookies are going to have adjustment there but if James Cook were to go down I think he could inherit you know most of his workload wouldn't be you know quite as good as James Cook but I think he could be you know a full three down back if they needed him to be yeah it's just it's just uh just forget about Tai Johnson and and not even have him complicating this this situation exactly I mean that was that kind of came out of nowhere I mean Tai Johnson you know he's been around the league I think he was on the Jets but did not expect him to kind of factor into that rotation yeah as much as he did once Joe Brady took over so that that is something to watch um I'm sure he'll get he'll get work this year as well because the depth truck behind cook is not uh not very substantial so maybe they maybe they add a a veteran or something but yeah I think Davis I think they expect Davis to contribute this year which is you know once you once you when you're looking at these rookie running backs I mean yes you you know kind of go to look at the talent as well but a lot of times it's going to come down to who gets hurt and who's in POS who who the coaches trust and who's in position and the fact that they took him you know fourth round pick and there just not much on that depth chart uh I think he's going to get playing time one way or another all right for the eighth pick overall my fourth of our 2024 rookie Tyrone Tracy Jr running back Fantasy Draft here on the fantasy Flex I am G to go with maybe a little bit of a surprising pick here Tyrone Tracy of the New York Giants Tyrone Tracy Jr that is out of Purdue and and I think the the reason I like him two reasons number one is the Giants just don't have much on that depth chart behind Devin single ter you know when once they made that decision to part ways with saquon Barkley you know they they knew they were going to have to kind of scr together a running back room they end up getting single ter who uh is expected to be the unquestioned weed back but it's wide open behind him you know Eric Gray uh they tried to make him work as a punt returner last year just didn't quite pan out I don't know if he's really made the leap this year either uh and then you just had a I think Jon Corbin just got uh ir and uh gante Miller he's he's a undrafted guy who's who's uh making some making a push for a roster spot but Tracy's a guy who if you watch that Hard Knocks episode uh Joe Shane was really excited and the rest of the the scouts were really excited to get this guy for receiver and I think the guy that comes to mind is Antonio Gibson right you know anytime you're talking about a converted receiver who you know still 210 pounds so he's not like he's he's too small or anything like that um but I I think he can give you kind of that Antonio Gibson uh type of in in a best case scenario that Antonio Gibson rookie season where especially if you know if single ter gets hurt I mean uh you could be looking at Tracy as the as a lead back like that that that first game that single ter misses even because there's really just nothing there for the Giants at running back after him and I think they finally just figured out that Evan Neil is just not going to work so looks like he's probably going to be benched uh they got a lumor they got ran so the line should be at least a little better than last year it's still going to be one of the the the worst in the league but uh at least they got some guys who can run block a little a lot better uh than they had last year in free agency so a lot of reasons I think to to kind of take a flyer here on Tyrone Tracy especially in baseball I think he'll have at least a couple games at some point in a year uh where he uh flashes some upside gets some opportunities and flashes some upside yeah no I I was gonna go with him next so you you sniped me on this but I I think I agree he's he has a sort of a similar path with Antonio Gibson where you know he was a wide receiver he converted to running back but unlike Gibson he actually had you know his senior year at Purdue as a running back so I think he has more experience in that regard but I think out of all the rookie running backs he uh well uh out of the rookie running backs we've talked about uh up to now is he probably has the best odds of potentially leap frogging the starting running back without needing an injury you know Devon single ter uh is you know a lock to be the the week one starter but from there Tracy's talented enough and single Terry you know isn't talented enough to really hold him off all season long so there's at least a chance that he could become an rb3 Flex value without even needing single ter to miss time he could just outplay him so I think that he has a very unique path um to to provide value that some of these other backs need an injury uh to do all right we're halfway through uh our rookie uh running back fantasy draft for 2024 here on the fantasy Flex uh Raybon and Kerner ker started with Blake Corum uh RB 40 in ADP I went Trey Benson kerer went jayen Wright I went brayan Al K went Bucky Irving I go Marshon Lloyd With sixth overall K went Ray Davis number seven and I went Tyrone Tracy Jor of the Giants at number eight before we get to the second half of our rookie running back Fantasy Draft I just want FantasyLabs Promo to remind everyone that all of our fantasy content will be over at fantasylabs.com this year it has all our rankings our draft Tool uh we update daily uh also have all of our inseason stuff all of our written content uh kerner's preseason DFS projections for all you uh DJ out there uh just itching to go uh and get back reliable uh reliable projections and and models and fantasy Labs uh really Corners the market on that uh so fantasy webs.com and you can get $20 off right now by using the promo code flex2 at fantasylabs.com Flex fle ex20 at fantasylabs.com Flex all right number nine uh your fifth overall pick in our rookie running back Jonathon Brooks draft Sean who you got all right I'm going to do it uh I'm taking Jonathan Brooks here at rb28 um you know I I think he's the best running back in this draft class uh watching him in college he he really gives me Todd Gurley Vibes like I I think he's extremely talented um I thought this was you know a decent landing spot because uh he he clearly has the best chances of being the team's lead back without needing an injury um unfortunately he is the one that's hurt right now he's still recovering from his tornado ACL in November so that was that was a late season tear so you know he's not going to be ready for the start of the Season they've already said that probably going to miss the first couple of games so um and and again like even when he returns he might not be 100% um you know this is a season where the Panthers probably just want to ease him in there's no real reason to give him a full workload as a rookie um but you know I think there's a good chance he's going to be starting by the end of the season and while rb28 is a bit Rich I'm playing the game here a little bit where um I'm projecting in a Miss five games and be kind of limited this year and I still think his medium projection would be right around RB 40 so if I take a minus 12 here that's better than you know Ray Davis might not even be able to beat out Ty Johnson and finishes the RB Adan I get I take a minus you know 25 or 30 plus hit in this game so I think Brooks um I think rb28 is gonna be very tough for him to beat but he's gonna be close enough where I don't think I'm going to eat too much of a loss here so I'm kind of playing the game here and taking who I think is the best running back anyway uh in this class um wouldn't take him in uh you know best ball or season long leagues at rb28 but I think for this contest at this point it does make sense yeah and and that's that's the kind of guy who was like you know do I want to do it but I just it's hard to it's it's tough to get behind in terms of the ADP and you H the nail on the head you know how I feel about drafting guys that are going to be injured coming into the year every once in a while you will get a hit and you will get some value but I just find it as someone who especially as someone who's you know just knee deep in this stuff day in and day out I can I can usually just find other ways to construct my roster and and still give myself you know 17 potential weeks of upside from a player and not have to you know uh rely on stashing a guy that may or may not pan out because I mean you still got chuba hubber there too who played really well last year uh down the stretch and you also got uh you know Miles Sand they're paying him a lot of money I don't he was terrible but the old line should be better so it could it could kind of get a be a messy committee where it's not like it's not like this guy is uh a like an unquestioned starter who's gonna come in and play you know get 20 touches the first week he's back necessarily like then I could get behind it and redraft or bestas ball more so redraft because I don't like uh giving up the games uh missed in bestas ball but uh yeah in terms of the contest yeah you still he's still I think the most talented back in this class has the draft pedigree uh they obviously like him I mean that team had a lot of holes and uh and they still were willing to spend a premium uh Draft pick on on Johnson Brooks so uh the future is bright but yeah I think he's a little bit just a little bit overvalued um big picture-wise for 2024 in redraft league but in the contest right now that we're doing uh just a two-man draft where we have to take 16 of these guys yeah makes ton of sense yeah uh yeah now we're kind of getting into that that part of the draft where it's like wof yesh uh kind of taking fires and yeah to your point kind of thinking about okay who could who could kind of beat their ADP here I'm gonna go with Will Shipley out of Philadelphia I Will Shipley didn't love the landing spot initially uh he he he went to Clemson I didn't love the landing spot with the Eagles obviously uh they're planning on you know Force feeding saquon Barkley paid him a lot of money and you also have Kenneth gainwell there who played well uh you know for them over the last few years but I am hearing out of camp that Shipley uh is turning heads he is playing well and I'm even hearing uh some Whispers of of potential gainwell trade rumors uh so you know that could be an unexpected Boon to Shipley's value as well but you know Shipley's a guy who I mean if they ever decide not to tush push I I think he could you know he could even give them some value in the Red Zone I think he he's a good pass catcher I think he's just an allaround talented guy and you know saquon Barkley is what entering his age 27 season I believe it is so you know the injury risk especially with gy Barkley who's a lot of tread on the tires uh lot few few season uh few season ending injuries on his resume already um you know shley could find himself playing because gainwell as good as he's has been is kind of more of a a pass down back and he's a guy that I mean we've seen it with gel where they've given a a rookie back a young back carries in the Red Zone uh even as a rookie so um I think Shipley could be a little bit more involved than people think but I'm really kind of banking on you know if saquon misses some games it's possible that Shipley even uh jumps gain well and and is like the primary early down SLG goal line back back with with gainwell is more of the change of pace passing down back so I think there's a few ways for Shipley to uh to hit value but it's all gonna come down to saquan for the most part yeah yeah he's right now he's in a camp battle with gainwell it seems uh pretty even but yeah you make a great point if if they're you know they're floating trade rumors for gainwell that's that's a clear path for him to be Barkley's backup because they don't really have anybody outside of those two backups so um yeah I think especially RB 68 in this contest he has has a pretty high floor and uh you know a clear path to a ceiling type of season if they do uh you know ship out um gainwell all right we are up to pick number 11 in our 16 round rookie running back fantasy draft for 2024 here on the fantasy Flex podcast Raybon kerer Ker's up uh with pick number 11 where you Dylan Laube going uh yeah so it's getting really rough right now but uh I'm going to go with Dylan lby of the Raiders at RB 71 um you know the thing with him is he's a very good pass catching back he had 68 receptions last season at New Hampshire he sort of reminds me of like a dollar store Danny Woodhead is what I would say and he's already impressing in Camp um to where you know he could open up as the third down back over Amir Abdullah and I think with zamir white and Alexander Madison both of those backs profile more as you know early down backs so I think lby could have you know a a role All Season even with both backs um ahead of him healthy so I think that he might have a higher floor than some of these other backs um so you know he could kind of clear this number even if white and Madison were healthy all year um this is all you know assuming he beats out Abdullah you know he might not even play this year so I'm taking a risk but I think at RB 71 in terms of you know this contest um I think he he has the highest floor out of the remaining backs and uh you know has a clear path to having some playing time this year yeah uh he's a guy that you know it wasn't really on my radar at first he was one of what was he like the last back one of the last backs selected uh in the draft but uh you know he he's he's had some positive uh Camp news and you know with abdulah I mean there's a chance that you know maybe they just move on from him you know sometimes you see that with these older veteran backs when you have a younger guy in the roster and you know the Raiders clearly kind of it's not like they're banking on making a Super Bowl this year or anything so yeah uh that that spot could open up quick and he also had just I mean you could you could do some work in the passing game too because yeah you had what G retire and you know gon's been hurting so there's I mean there's there's a few different ways he could get on the field you know the return game so um yeah I don't hate it at all I think he's it makes sense uh you know we're kind of digging deep here but this is sometimes how you find you know guys in in best ball you're just kind of familiarizing yourself with some of these guys and kind of working out the path uh to potential value uh for these guys so um definitely a valuable exercise uh yeah pick number 12 my six overall uh let's see Kimani Vidal I'm going to roll with I'll buy the dip on uh kamani Vidal here you know he's a guy who you know we thought maybe could challenge for that that starting job in Camp but it didn't quite happen I think he's even been uh behind Isaiah Spiller at times but I I don't expect that yeah so this is another guy who you know might not might not play very much this year uh came out of Troy but I did I do like the athleticism I think his 40 time was on 4.46 uh at about 213 pounds so you know 5'8 so he's low to the ground and the key for me is you know first Isaiah Spiller hasn't done much of anything in the league so like jumping him shouldn't you know be an issue I mean that could happen as soon as the the next practice as we're recording this it could happen in the first preseason game so not worried about that but the key is Greg Roman is now the coordinator down in uh la for the Chargers and he's expected to make this offense a lot run heavier and So you you're GNA have multiple backs kind of mix in it's not just like the Austin eor show like it's been in years past anymore and then you look at the backs that are ahead of him on the depth chart and there is a CER path to value in year one for kamani Vidal Gus Edwards probably is going to start the year as the lead back well he is 29 years old he has caught 30 passes in his entire pro career and he's already 29 he's so he's not going to give you much in the past game uh he's missed a full season with a serious injury just a uh three years just a couple years few years ago in 2021 and uh he's on that wrong side of the Aging curve for running back which after 26 27 it can go downhill very quickly and without uh without warning so that that's one and then the other guy who uh has a lot I think more you know long-term upside if he could just stay on the field is JK Dobbins but now he's 26 all of a sudden and you know in he he was drafted in 201 20 he had 134 carries that rookie year and that was that was the pandemic year since then he's played nine total NFL games he's carried the ball just a hundred times uh over the last three seasons he's missed uh the entire 2021 season he missed nine of 17 games in 2022 and 16 of 17 last season got injured in week one uh Upon returning so it's it's just really been a rough go for dobin to stay healthy and the reason I like that when you're kind of drafting a guy behind him is because at this point I think even the coaching staff may kind of feed into that and worry a little bit about you know Dobbins and and not try to overextend him so you know there while Davis is you know third maybe even fourth on the depth chart now uh he could quickly Ascend and this is going to be a more runhe heavy offense than we've been used to in La so I'll take a shot at at Vidal who is kind of a popular sleeper pick you know after the draft but his uh his his value has kind of cooled considerably so uh buying the dip here yeah I think out of these remaining backs he he certainly has the widest range of outcomes that's why I was kind of hesitant um and you know JK Dobbins there was a chance he wasn't going to be ready for camp and the fact that he's already in full pads and looking okay uh I I've been lowering Vidal's um projection a bit uh but again Dobbins is coming back from ailles ter so that's that's the worst injury for a running back to be coming back from so it might not be the same JK Dobbins and I think that um you know Vidal uh Vidal reminds me of you know Philip Lindsay and I think that Jim harba May view him as like a cheaper version of Blake Corum who he loves obviously for Michigan so um you know they drafted him um with the intention of him like you know pushing Edwards and Doin so just given how run heavy this team's going to be um even if he opens up as the number three back which I think he will be um you know there should be potential for him to you know have some uh you know touches this year so again he's a guy that has a wide range of outcomes wouldn't shock me if he finishes you know RV 80th or you know takes overs the starting back and finishes in the top you know 40 or so so um I think for this game you're you're definitely taking a risky play here that could pay yeah I mean yeah his his ADP that is is still rb53 I do think that's too high and I agree uh it should be lower than that I think he should be out outside the top 64 because he's not in you know that you know rb2 position yet but at this point I'm I'm just going for upside and I want a guy who I mean you by the time we record uh like the fantasy Flex next week dobins and and could be done or Edwards could be done or you know what I mean so things could change very quickly in this back field specifically so yeah taking a shot here but uh you're up with the number 13 pick uh overall your seventh of our eight uh draft picks for our rookie running back Audric Estime draft for 2024 who you got uh I'm gonna go with audri ese at RB 59 um you know the Broncos took him in the fifth round uh you know he's a bigger back I would say his his comp would be like a Deontay Foreman type of back just a Bruiser early down Bruiser um and he's you in a log Jam that the Broncos running back depth charts kind of a mess right now you know Javonte Williams um is you know probably the lead back going into the season uh and then you have samaj pery the the pass catching specialist and then Julio mcclaughlin uh more of the the change of pace home run threat type of back so I think if if gavon Williams were to miss time um you know esime would be the the potential candidate to to take over most of his touches with you know P Ryan and mclaughin U certainly seeing an uptick in their touches but you know having their defined roles so um I I I also think that this wide open depth chart does give SME you know a path to upside you know potentially leap frogging some of these backs um so he he certainly again he has a low floor like he could just be stuck as the rb4 all season long and everybody's healthy and I'm gonna eat like a minus 30 here but I think that you know um he has a skill set similar enough to javante Williams where um you know he could have a couple spot starts or two uh throughout the season so I I think he's he's a risky pick but the Broncos took him for a reason and I think they do want him to kind of compete with Williams and I I think you've mentioned is p Ryan like on the the trade block or something like that like if he were to be out of town I think that'll help as well so I think that they might try to trim the fat a bit when it comes to this depth chart which would help SME but I I I just think that he has a skill set that overlaps a bit with Javonte Williams where I I guess I'm comfortable enough to take him here at RB 59 yeah I think Peron another one of those guys could kind of be like a like a Abdullah situation where uh he did have a big role last year but there's always a chance if if they feel like hey maybe we we want to get a look at these younger guys I mean you know gavon is still young second year coming back off that injury I'm personally not investing in him I'm down on him but uh and the estimate pick is one of the reasons because I think estimate's skill set probably overlaps with javante Williams is the most so there's some danger where if Williams who didn't I don't think he cracked four yards a carry after like the first month of the Season or or something like that last year if he continues to to fail the rebound from that injury there could there's a non-zero chance that he gets Wheat frogged by a guy like Ese and he could be even a healthy scratch on game days if they keep peryan and pery would be the pass down back mclin is also uh a contender for that you know featured role or at least a bigger role as well but the fact that they you know they had mclaughin had javante a year removed from the injury and they had uh a pretty solid uh hurry up you know pass down back in Peron they had all their spots filled and they still and and a you know not much draft Capital to speak of especially taking a quarterback early and they still uh went out of their way to go get estimate uh I think that that kind of speaks volumes and and he's back at camp and apparently looking good so yeah I was going to take that was another guy I was going to take next you sniped me again well who are you taking I mean there's not much uh left yeah so I'm going to kind of play Just A Little Game Theory here uh I already got brayan Allen really like him but uh if he's a bust probably means Isaiah Davis uh has Isaiah Davis at least some value because number one you know can't Bree Hall did end up uh playing all 17 games last year most running backs are gonna on average miss about two to four games a year just because of the nature of the position uh especially when you're getting what 38 carries uh in a meaningless uh week 18 game 37 carries excuse me uh so I think he's trying to get that thousand yards but uh I I just think this jet offense you know like Aaron roders and is getting all the hype and you know how is his comeback gonna look but remember this jet team great defense 41y old quarterback coming off in Achilles tear uh and an offensive coordinator who if he's got to just call a diverse passing offense it's still could be a little weird with hackit so so uh I think this could be a very run-heavy team and I mean if if Bree Hall misses time I think both of these guys Allen and and Davis will have a a significant role I think Aban is the guy that's probably on the outs so uh I I'll roll the dice here with Davis the ADP is is he like off the board I don't even think he has an ADP yeah what are we gonna do with that uh we'll just take the whatever the last running back uh is so it looks like that's we'll give him 100 1001 I guess yeah so that'll be for like rashen Ali Keenan Kean Robinson Jay mlen Isaiah Davis guys like that uh they don't have an ADP we'll just give them a value of 101 or or we could go with the last running back on the list which I think I think 101 is fine we'll just do it that way okay uh and it looks like 144 running backs had a score or had points last year so um let's say he doesn't play at all that would be a minus 44 is that what that's how I did it I I don't think it really applied to anyone maybe like one or two guys that we drafted last year I think um like I think Prince didn't actually get any any action oh right I mean he I think yeah I think Prince and it was maybe McBride as well um but yeah so it did apply a couple times last year but yeah that's how we'll score it but hopefully that hopefully we don't got to worry about that but I I do think Davis is at worst going to the number three running back on a team that should be in running back uh in run uh run run favorable game scripts I'll call it all right one more pick left for each of us we're doing 16 rounds uh eight picks each rookie running back Fantasy Draft TW man kerer Raybon two of your most accurate uh top five season long fantasy rankers in the fantasy pros contest over the past three years uh we're going Deep In The Weeds here but uh did have some hits last year did was a valuable exercise I think especially for if you're a best ball drafter or you're just looking to handcuff somebody or just uh you know just maybe take a a find a e winner wait in your draft so uh one more pick make it good who you got all right well I'm I'm actually G to be um pretty risky Isaac Guerendo here and I'm GNA take a guy that actually has an ADP um and it's Isaac gindo at RB 81 um and you know the ners took him in the fourth round so I think they want him to compete with Elijah Mitchell uh maybe Jordan Mason to be Chris McCaffrey's backup uh however grindo just suffered a hamstring injury um where he he's probably gonna be sign lined a few weeks I don't know if he's going to get any uh preseason work um but you know um uh Mitchell also strain his hamstring mcaffry is hurt as well so there's already a lot of injuries uh hitting the ners um dep chart but I think that the thing with grindo um his hamstring might be 100% healthy before you know he would even need to see snaps with a potential you know mcaffrey injury uh which is why I'm taking him I think he does have that injury upside if he does end up being the backup but I think that just given the fact that he probably won't see any preseason snaps I think he'll make the team I think um you know whenever the ners are up by 20 plus points and it's it's blowout time they're going to try to uh save Chris mcaffrey I think that's when they're they're going to want gindo to get some touches some fourth quarter touches we've seen Elijah Mitchell in the past post some decent numbers just getting a fourth quarter to himself when they're ultra run heavy so I think the fact that gindo won't have any preseason reps they're going to want him to get some reps when he can in season um even when mcaffry is healthy so I think that's a sneaky path for him to get like I think 20 fantasy points is what he needs to get around rb80 um so I think that that that's kind of a sneaky path for him to have a floor uh here and hit his ADP and he does have the upside if mcaffrey knock on wood doesn't miss extended time I think there's a chance he and Mitchell could split work or he ends up being the starting uh back but I think he's he's very talented again he they took him in the fourth round uh he's in the shanan offense which means it's already a great scheme a great system for running backs so um I'm kind of shooting for some upside here he might not get a touch all season I'm going to eat you know minus 60 here for the contest but I think at this point uh I I got to take a risk and he's the guy I want to take that risk on yeah I mean it's it's I definitely see the uh the logic there uh probably had to talk yourself into it a little bit because absolutely I this is a Super Bowl bound team they might just not take mcaffry off the field and if they do it probably be Mitchell um if he but he hasn't stayed healthy so there could be an opening there I heard uh uh Jordan Mason's been making some mistakes uh in Camp so maybe he's uh you know maybe his his his job is a little bit at risk as that that number three guy but yeah that I mean fourth round is not nothing to sneeze at uh and we've seen the Niners hit on Mr Irrelevant already so absolutely not the worst uh possible way to uh cap our 16 round rookie fantasy draft for 2024 rookie running backs uh with the last pick so if he didn't just get hurt I would have probably took my guy who's Keilan Robinson not I don't even see him written down as a potential on the board in our in our outline but I would have probably taken C vaky of the Lions but he he sustained an injury uh in in in practice so I don't necessarily want to go there so I'm gonna take another guy who I think has he has no ADP and I do think he could be active on game days from week one and for the entire season uh and that's kyn Robinson of the Jacksonville Jaguars he went uh in the you know late on in day three but he's a guy who out of Texas could be kind of a Jamal agnu type guy very good kick returner uh in school and the Jaguars you know they they didn't bring back agnu they're looking for kind of that kind of guy and you know you and I have both talked about how Travis etn is great but they probably do want to get him a few more uh you know you know breathers throughout the course of a game and tank bsby still hasn't panned out and you know etn is GNA have enough of a workload to where you could use a guy like Robinson who's more of a you know I would say like a Tavon Austin movable chess piece running back but like can can move around maybe play in the slot return kicks do it all so I mean he maybe he gets me uh maybe he gets me six on a on a return and that's how I end up uh you know beating ADP and and it works out for the contest and that's the only thing he does all year but I could see him getting some snaps at at running back with bsby and uh who who else is there Deus Johnson I mean uh you know they if they want some explosiveness in that offense and they might need some because they got you know some bigger bodied guys like Gabe Davis Brian Thomas uh Evan Ingram they if they need if they want some speed on the field 58 191 Robinson uh I think he I think he's gonna uh I think he's going to be active I think he's going to play a role uh one way or another so I'll go with him to to close out yeah I think he could be like a home run threat like a jul McLaughlin or Keat Mitchell type or he doesn't get many touches but he could you know break a long one or score a touchdown where even if he's the fourth running back uh could could have some games where he uh hits all right and that will uh close it out and to recap Draft Recap uh kerer started our rookie running back draft for 2024 Blake cor at RB 40 I went Trey Benson RB 36 kerer Jaylen Wright of the dolphin RB 47 uh then I went brayan Allen of the Jets RB 57 ker with the number five pick went Bucky Irving uh number six I went Marshon Lloyd seven ker went Ray Davis eight I went Tyrone Tracy nine ker went Jonathan Brooks 10 I went will Shipley 11 ker went Dylan Lobby 12 I went kamani Vidal 13 ker went audri ese then I went with Isaiah Davis with 14th overall C closed it out with Isaac gendo of the ners and then I ended the draft with Mr Irrelevant kyn Ro Mr Irrelevant of our draft that is kyn Robinson of the Jacksonville Jaguars this has been the fantasy Flex be sure to subscribe uh if you don't want to miss any
