what is going on guys welcome back to Mets Central this is Mets fan reaction game 122 where the New York Mets defeat the Miami Ms today by score to seven and three before we actually get into the game the Marlins and they desperately needed this win after they dropped two out of three against the Oakland A's the Mets desperately had to get on the right foot in this series against the poor Marlin's team and they did that huge credit to sha manah who bounced back after a poor start in Seattle his biggest problem in Seattle were firstly the walks gave up five walks in that start in Seattle and today he was able to limit limit that to one walk also a problem that he had in Seattle his fast ball his fast ball in Seattle didn't have a lot of velocity on it the velocity wasn't there either tonight however he was he had a lot more control on that fast ball and he was able to get a lot more swings and misses on that plus his sweeper also worked very well tonight got a lot of ground balls and got a lot of swings and misses on that as well then also moving on the offense got to give the offense a major credit here because even though they had a good game uh even though they scored six runs runs against the Oakland A's last game they did miss a lot of opportunities with guys in scoring position well today most of the time when guys were in scoring position the Mets came through with some big hits that included you know guys like JD Martinez who brought in the first run of the game BR uh Jeff mcneel who hit a big two-run home run after sha manai gave away the lead uh Francisco Lindor a big Insurance run and then a guy that we've been desperately saying needs to play a lot better Brandon Nemo today huge three-run home run now listen hopefully this wakes up Brandon ELO because if the Mets really want to make a make a push out a playoff spot especially you know with them dropping on the last couple games especially the last few series they're going to need Brandon immo at the pace that the at the pace that he was hitting before before he got on this huge massive cold streak so listen good sign we saw him hitting in the three hole today which is huge because after Mark Vientos had those two really good games in the two-hole we all said to meny listen Mandy you got to keep Vios in the two-hole he did that nmo moved down to three today and look so far one game in it's worked hopefully that this change is GNA have is g to have similar changes to what we saw a couple weeks ago when meny decided to move Lindor up to the one spot and drop n to the do hole listen sometimes you have to make a change to the lineup and it worked the first time small sample size right now yes but so far through one game with these changes it has worked so far so hopefully it does keep it up but yeah now let's actually get into the game recap so sha manah on the mound for the New York Mets and Muno was on the mound for the Miami Marlins so top of the first Xavier Edwards would walk Jake Burger within strikeout swinging Xavier Edwards would steal second base Jonah bride with and ground out to Jeff Neil at second and Jesus Sanchez would strike out the end the inning then bottom of the first Francisco Lindor leading off he will line out to Jesus Sanchez and right Mark fento would strike out swinging Brandon nmo would then reach on a fielders error little taer to the pitcher but the pitcher couldn't make the throw over the first so he would go over to second base and then JD Martinez which we mentioned came up with a big hit uh a single on that place to drive in Brandon nmo so the Mets would take an early one nothing lead there and pet Alonzo would strike out swing at the end of the inning then top of the second a nice easy one two three inning for sha Mana as he would get Derrik Hill to fly out to Jesse Winker in right field OT Lopez would strike out and Emanuel Rivera would fly out to Jesse Winker and right moving on to the B the second Jesse Winker would pop out to to Ali Sanchez to Ali Sanchez in the catching position Francisco Alvarez would then hit a single much better game for Francisco Alvarez today even though he only did go one for three you start to see him hit the ball a lot more harder which it's a good sign hopefully this is a sign that he's potentially breaking out of this long slump that he's been in then Jeffy Neil would hit in a to a force out Harrison Bader would then walk Mets wouldn't get anything go in that inning as Francisco Lindor would fly out sharply to Derek Hill in center field then top of the third David Hensley would line out to Brandon nmo in left field Ali Sanchez would fly to Harrison Bader in Center Xavier Edwards will hit a double nothing going though for the MS that inning as maniah would get Jake Berger to pop out to Mark FiOS at third base then bottom of the third mark fento would hit a single Brandon nmo would strike Out Swinging JD Martinez would strike out swinging and Pete Alonzo would strike out as well by the way Pete Alonzo another poor game I believe I believe if you look at the box score yeah today 0 for four with three strikeouts not good another poor performance by Pete Alonzo and it's another game where look um David STS GNA look at and say look not worth the money not worth the money and look he's only hurting himself right now with these poor performances so if he doesn't want to lose a a lot of money potentially get into free agency he better start performing right now but you know we've said it all about pet Alonzo and he's yet to prove us wrong really then moving on to the top of the fourth Jonah bride will hit a double Jesus Sanchez would then pop out the Francisco Lindor short and then Derek Hill would hit a double he would bring in Jonah bribe so the bonds would tied up at one to one Oto Lopez would then hit a single so that would move DK Hill over to Third Base then manah looked like he would get out of the inning as he he would get um Emanuel Rivera to to uh to ground out into what looked like an ining and the double play but uh the first basee umpire called called him safe metch challenged it but it looked like pet Lonzo was off the bag even though on the even though on the actual on the video it looked like that he was able to keep his foot on the bag or even if it did come off he was able to get his foot back on the bag in time but they called him safe so the bars would go up two to one there but nothing else going there for the BRS as Mani would get David Hensley to ground out to Jeff manil at second base then bottom of the fourth Jesse Winker would ground out Francisco alvare would walk and then like I mentioned before Jeff M Neil with a big two-run home run to put the Mets up three to2 Harrison bad would then walk Francisco Lindor another big hit from him he would come through with an RBI triple to put the Mets up four to two then the MS would make a pitching change as George Sorano will come in for Roder Munoz uh Sorano will then hit Mark Vientos with his first pitch and then the guy we've all been waiting for to break or not even break out because he hasn't broken out yet but the guy we've been waiting to have a big hit Brandon emo finally comes through big with a three-run home run to put the Mets up 7 to2 and look like I said before hopefully this is the game that Sparks Brandon emo and puts him now on a rampage because the Mets desperately need him if they want to make a push at a playoff spot then after that JD Martinez would hit a double uh Mets couldn't bring him in though as pet Alonzo would ground out Jesse Winker would single but Francisco Alvarez would end the inning with a flow to Derek Lee to Derk Hill in center field then top of the fifth Ali Sanchez flies out sharply to Harrison Bader in center field Xavier Edwards within ground the Francisco Lindor Jake Burger would then hit a home run to make it seven to3 uh and then Jonah bride would then ground out to Francisco Lindor in the inning then bottom of the fifth McNeil with a double Harrison Bader flew out to David Hensley Francisco Lor strike out mark fiens would walk so first and second for the Mets couldn't get anything couldn't drive a run in though that inning as Brandon nmo ground out to Jake burger at first end the inning then moving on to the top of the six quick one two three inning for sha manah gets Jesus Sanchez to ground up to Lindor Derek Hill ground uh will ground out to Mark fento at third and OT Lopez will ground out to Francisco Lindor to any the inning bottom of the six JD Martinez flies out to Derk Hill Pet Lonzo would strike out Jesse Winger walks Mets them making an offensive substitution as Tyrone Taylor would come at the pinch hit and will come into the Outfield to replace Jesse Winker and then Francisco Alvarez will ground out softly to Ali Sanchez to end the inning top of the seven like I mentioned before Tyrone Taylor stays in the game as a right field substitution uh quick inning for sha Mania Emanuel Rivera would fly out to Francisco Lindor David Hensley Strikes Out Swinging and Ali Sanchez grounds out to sha manah and he would throw the ball over to Pete at first base to end the inning so like I mentioned before big bounceback um outing from Sha maniah desperately needed that especially after yesterday where Jos canana only pitched three Innings and the bull and and the bullpen used a lot of guys so they needed length out him an eye today and they gave him that you look at the final line today seven strong Innings from him five hits allow three earned runs one walk which is huge four strikeouts the one home run giv up to Jake burger and that lowers his season yard at three 3.46 so look now hopefully that manah had this bounce back game now hopefully he gets on track and can start develop some consistency because the metch like we mentioned before on the podcast they need a recognized starter and while yes sha manai isn't that guy necessarily they need someone to step up and if it's not going to be sevy and we know it's not going to be hos canana sha manai has got to be that guy especially look we don't know if we don't know when Christian s going to come back hopefully it's soon but Mets need someone hopefully sha manah is that guy then moving on to the bottom of the seventh John McMillan would replace George Sano to pitch Jeff B Neil would ground out to OT Lopez at second base Harrison Bader would LLY out to Derek Hill and Francisco Lindor ground out to Jake Berger to end the inning top of the eighth then Jose budo will come in to replace shaan and look we mentioned or at least I mentioned before on the podcast yesterday when when I did it with Evan that I really don't understand the usage that Jose budos had in this Bullpen so far and that the Mets have misused them a lot and today is another example now look I understand they had to use Jose budo because they used a lot of guys out of the pen but this could have been avoided if if you recall back to the first game of the a series Paul Blackburn got shelled he only pitched four innings and budo would come in to replace him in the fifth inning but at that time the A's were already up seven to one so there was no reason to use Jose budo in that situation because you don't use Jose budo in a mop-up roll like he is too good to be in a mop-up roll because we've seen he's coming at Big in big situations at the bullpit to get big outs and he has accomplished that so if if you didn't use Jose budo in that first game and you were able to use him yesterday you could have potentially gotten another win and then you wouldn't have you wouldn't have had to use Jose budo in this game you could have used one of the other relievers whether that be baban Reed Garrett Phil maton guys like that so it just it boggles my mind like I said I know they had to use him today because of all the guys that they used yesterday but like I said if you don't use him in that first game of the a series and use them in the last game then you have other then you have other guys available to pitch in this game but what's done is done I guess right but Jose buo did Pitch did Pitch well today uh top of the eth he came in xav he' get Xavier Edward to ground out to Jeff Neil at second base Jake Berger with then ground out to Lindor and Jonah bride would then strike out swing at the end the inning bottom the eighth nothing going for the Mets biento Strikes Out Brandon would hit a single and JD martines would hit into a inning ending double play Then top of the ninth Jesus Sanchez would would hit a single Derek Hill grounded to a um a double play so two outs uto Lopez with then walk and then Kyle Stone would strike out to end the game so Jose budo good good relief outing out of the bullpen two innings one hit uh one walk two strikeouts lowers his ra down to 2.44 and look like I said before the Mets needed this win they desperately needed this win and then now you got the first win they have to go sweep this Mar team and look the one thing I've been re really upset about this Mets team is not only they've been losing the poor teams but they haven't taken advantage of the of the other teams around them losing and today so far it looks like that they could that they could gain some ground because you had the San Diego Padres losing seven to3 to the S Diego I mean sorry you had the Colorado Rockies losing seven to3 to the San Diego Padres and you had Tampa Bay Rays beating the Arizona Diamondbacks five to four and currently the game's not over but top of the seventh the LA Angels are currently beating the Atlanta Braves by scored to 3-2 and if the Angels hold on to win the Mets are only one game back of the Braves so look please please please take advantage of this poor Mall team sweep them tomorrow 410 game Luis svino is on the mount for the Mets Meyer is on the mount for the Marlins just just please take care of
