quickly ascended to the major leag and at the age of 20 in 2001 he posted a 17 and5 record in 33 starts striking out 171 second most all time by aie in helping capture another Central Division title he won his first pro season game defeating the Seattle in game three of the 2001 American League Division Series CC with runner up in the American League Rook of the Year voting behind the Mariners Ichiro Suz in eight seasons in Cleveland CC won more than 100 games winning at least 11 games every season from 2001 to 2008 he was a three time and in 2007 he posted a 19 and7 record with the lead leading 34 starts and 241 inning pitch becoming the first Cleveland pitcher to win the S award since Gaylord Perry in 1972 his 1,265 strikeouts R seven all time L RS nth best a six 100 winning percentage and 13 in wins from day one of his professional baseball career CC understood his role as a young minority athlete who wanted to be active in the community and give back in 2021 at historic L EAS par the city of Cleveland in the guardian organization dedicated to tur field in honor of one of our favorite and forever also his impact on and off the field England was Grand a big man with an even bigger part congratulations fromell 19e career that includes 251 wins 93 St and one that we are all proud to say started right here congratulations congratulations bring up Jimmy and [Applause] [Music] [Applause] br [Music] [Music] thank you um excited to be here tonight I'm start off by saying thank you to the to the Guardians Organization for this great honor I want say thank you to the family um chrna um I'm excited uh just to be here to celebrate this with everybody I want to say thank you to Mar power for showing up um than Martin um I'm say thank you to my wife my family my mom's here but most importantly I want to say thank you to the city um you know coming here 17 years old I always tell people I was born and raised in California but I grew up here in CL so thank [Applause] you thank you CC as we celebrate the rich history and Rel the wonderful moments that we have all shared as fans of Cleveland Guardians baseball how about one more round of applause for our newest and [Applause] CC enjoy the ball game folks [Music] excit about
