back in they I think they eventually distanced themselves because they got it going so good maybe so but I was in still water for one of those losses OSU annihilated him it was so much fun because he some things with my health over a three years span MH so go to the general practitioner you need to see this specialist that specialist tells me yeah we agree with what the general practitioner said now you need to see the real specialist got so ticked off at that three years ago that I said yeah not not worth it then I was like okay I'm going to pursue this again so they send me straight to the specialist this time after going to the general practitioner because of monz Zuma's Revenge that I got from Mexico I went to the doc okay go to the all knowing specialist who knows nothing and says we need the information that you got you need to go backwards so you don't tell me a thing so you we not only not only this but we need you to go to three different places so we can make a decision on what's going on with you they they don't have those records to pull they don't have they didn't have the records from the previous Jaun they said you have to go and do it again and uh during the break I called and gave them all the middle finger so just want to say I'm run a little hot there's a lot of reasons you know why I was a little tick behind today and so I'm sorry about that I just want to this this it's a it's such a racket my god dude just keep billing me just bill bill bill so I was like you know what I'd rather be in the grave than chase this rabbit mhm okay go ahead Matt Campbell so I was perusing and I saw an Iowa State fan who was talking about expectations and it's always interesting to me with Iowa State because they were so bad for so long and Iowa State right now is in their greatest stretch ever arguably which is not great was very mediocre very Med mediocre but you could argue Beyond a reasonable doubt that Matt Campbell is their greatest coach ever oh sure well for for how long he's been there um McCarney is their [Music] leading um guy in the clubhouse and wins yes uh Dan McCarney uh the first coach in the Big 12 there um Paul rhods was in between him Jean chisik was also there but Dan McCarney I had a guy in sports that used to call Jean chisik G Jean chisik but but give Campbell a few more years and he catches McCarney um fairly EAS I like McCarney a lot good guy and Rose was a good guy too but was just not a very good coach he was um you know how Baylor's up and down yes he was up for about a year and then everything else was way down yes the old Big 12 history here so this random Twitter user on Iowa State fan says I'd want him fired this is about Matt Campbell I want him fired if he wins seven that's ridiculous ridiculous so it's year year nine for Matt Campbell that's a great year at Iowa State they've won 37878 that's in Co 747 so that's their regular seasons these are dubs that you just listed that's the regular season win can you go through that again three yeah and then they went 787 leading up to 2020 they went eight in 2020 but they didn't get those non-conference wins because they always have Iowa and they always play to a 103 Thriller and then the last three years he's gone seven wins four wins seven wins okay he he's done great that's that's great at Iowa State and football they now you go across the street to Hilton Coliseum it's a whole different story but that place Ames Iowa that tradition which is nil nil the you know you know what I remember about Iowa State football back in the 80s is they would have one or two guys with a different colored helmet everybody would be in yellow and there' be a couple in that cardinal red yeah and I'm be like why well I guess they were like captains or something I didn't know you could wear different helmets but um that's that's what I remember about Iowa State football not wins for for sure um I wonder if that eight- win year was the year they went down to Norman and one cuz I think that totally re reset the expectations for Matt Campbell so in 2020 they went uh eight- one in Big 12 play oh my goodness yeah they were eight and three overall and uh well I know they they went to they went to Norman and one and that's something that is that you couldn't process it's like this can't happen I mean it's it's Iowa State and Norman you you're you're a 25o dog 20o dog now that team had um Lazard on it you're going back even further that's uh yeah that first eight- win season in regular season when they in 8 that that should be about it yeah that's it that's Brock P early Brock pie you know Brock P's debut do you know what it was um no still still water didn't start the game do you know who started the game we're getting deep into Iowa State lore here um yes it was come on baby um you're so good you can do it so uh C capped kept nope kempt nope nope who was it this guy transferred to be a ga okay and then they were so thin on quarterbacks he ended up being in the quarterback room that rings a bell Zeb Noland Zeb Noland okay Zeb starts the game in still water as we would expect stinks they bring out little Brock pie and he leads them to a win in Stillwater so his his debut was against Oklahoma State at boom picking stadium and he led the Cyclones to a victory so the Oklahoma win at Oklahoma number three Oklahoma was 2017 okay that was Kyle Kemp yes that was before they got ranked that year but that's when that's when expectations shifted CU say had Brock py the next year that was the check and then you get into it and I think they went seven and five that year uh but beat Oklahoma which is a huge and then they go to a bowl game obviously they've not won a bowl game since 2020 Matt Campbell is two and four in bowl games he's been to six in eight years that's H that's unbelievable for he missed his first one and then two years ago go a little context Iowa State pre Campbell played 118 seasons of college football do you want to guess how many bowl games in 118 Seasons they went to pre Campbell 15 12 they were three and nine in bowl games pre Campbell they had five Big 12 Seasons with seven regular wins regular season wins pre Campbell now they had 11 game seasons for a lot of that yeah but they had five seven win seasons in the 18 16 18 years prior to Campbell and he's had six you know off topic a little bit what tech is doing with basically insisting we're going to play seven home games is genius it's genius it's like hey yeah this is our Mark and we're going to hit it um you know the difference between six and seven is one game but to me it's huge we'll talk about that as well because we've got some new uh games on the schedule we'll do that next we'll talk Texas Tech football schedule after this on 100.7 from college football week zero heck yeah uh and I've been trying to tell people week zero is pretty good this year last year we got to week zero and it was an absolute dud I thought I did not think uh week zero was anything to write home about last year um but I really do think that uh week zero is pretty solid this week now week one has some really good matchups uh but week zero you get Florida state Georgia Tech yeah not bad at all that's a ranked uh Florida State team overseas right yeah that is the Air Lingus college football classic there in Dublin at a Viva stadium and then Montana state New Mexico do you have a guess on the line there Montana state where is it it's in New Mexico it's at it's in Albuquerque okay we could go over there to the the koi and check it out I'm going to say um New Mexico minus no they're home dogs to Montana State big home dogs big double digit home dogs no way 10 and a half just hang it up man 10 and a half if you're a 10 and a half Point dog at home to Montana stem I can see Notre Dame or something God Ah that's horrid uh Florida State by the way minus 11 Over Georgia Tech in that ACC matchup uh SMU Nevada minus 27 SMU on the road minus 27 Hammer Nevada in that for me uh and then what's labeled as a 10:59 p.m. kickoff Delaware state Hawaii Hawaii here says minus 39 I saw it at minus 27 a half so 39 is wild but they're 12- two in week zero matchups against the spread why is in their last 14 yeah I'll be watching it so that's that's a pretty good slate and then uh Thursday you get more football uh NC State this Thursday like next Thursday the next next Thursday yeah creeping up towards the 31st yeah uh let see we're going to talk a little more Texas football here so they announced yesterday three more games on the schedule for 25 26 and 29 um and that is Kent State Sam Houston and Incarnate Word in 2025 you'll have three nonconference home games and then by 2029 I think is when they're going to start truly doing seven home games a year cuz you have some on the books in the next couple of Seasons so uh right now you've got five home games non-conference so I would assume you'll be doing that in 24 26 and 28 and then in 25 you have three home games and then in 27 you've got Arkansas Pine Bluff at home North Texas on the road and NC State at home so I would assume that's a six home game year uh but beyond that from now until 29 it looks like you'll have seven home games most of the seasons um do you want to hear next year's football schedule we've got it uh not necessarily what days but we have the big 12 schedule lined up for the next two years as well uh so you've got the Pine Bluff golden Lions Kent State golden flashes and Oregon State Beavers all at home okay then you have BYU Oklahoma State Kansas and UCF as your four home games against conference opponents and then on the road five times in conference play Arizona State Houston Kansas State Utah and West Virginia pretty tough that's a much tougher schedule certainly non-conference than uh this year or conference I mean non-conference it's not I'm not going to I'm not going to disparage that conference nonconference slate but I wouldn't be too worried about it then you have ACU at Oregon State Sam Houston at home and then you'll have Arizona Arizona State TCU Houston and West Virginia at home this is in 2026 at Baylor at Cincinnati at Colorado at Oklahoma State well that's good that um the Cowboys are on there because um depending on the decision makers it could easily not be on there it needs to be on there every year and I've heard rumors that we're not going to play a regular season series with Oklahoma State and baseball this upcoming year which would just be a travesty that's ridiculous uh you did not have Oklahoma State last year you'll have them this year uh if you noticed in 202 5 no Baylor no TCU I mean it's it's stinks it really does but you're at the point where you've you've got to make some concessions you know and when you go to 16 teams there's just things that like that that are going to go down it just it frustrated me when they announced the scheduling Matrix is what they're calling it you're division you're podless it's just a matrix but then they said uh the Big 12 being the they uh we're going to have half the teams have protected rivalries and then the other half n so why not just go all the way and say Oklahoma State Baylor and TCU will be on Texas Tech schedule every year every year like if you're going to do half the you're you're going to protect Arizona State and Arizona you're going to protect Utah and BYU you're going to protect uh some of these other schools but you can't give Texas Tech a hateful late original Oklahoma State a hateful 8 original you can't say well we're going to make sure you guys play every year so you have something to hang your hat on man you think you get a little bit of a reward for being a hateful eight too Baylor hate original Iowa state does not have any uh locked in s should be Kate should be and I think they protected Kansas State Kanas obviously um but just I mean it just doesn't make any sense to have a halfway like just either give everyone protected rivals or none you know what we should do we should do a um out of the blue relegation you know who doesn't belong here Houston they don't belong here cougar he high is not belong here I'm sorry I'm not trying to be mean it just doesn't they don't belong they don't everyone told me when Houston was going to get the nod that they were terrified of Houston that they were a a this monster that was going to be huge and all the money they had and that if you put Houston in a power League they would explode no it hasn't happened they've not improved in recruiting now they went and got Willie Fritz who allegedly is going to be a really good coach at the power four level but he's not done it and you know the coolest thing Houston does in basketball when they're just about to do their starting lineups they play Fat Pat okay that song um Tops Drop they and they get the the lights are off and they got the the lights uh illuminate the floor that's the coolest thing they do and I and now I love them for that because I love that song but they were already good in basketball I know they didn't get better in basketball in 12 no they were they were plenty good in the Americano and I was impressed with what they didn't baseball but they were 10th yeah like they were better than I thought they'd be but got swept in lck I was talking to my my boy he was like does Cincinnati play baseball I was like yeah yeah the reason you don't think of it is because we didn't play him in the regular season but we did play him in the Big 12 tournament and projections already so this is a Texas Tech bowl question would you take a guaranteed Pop-Tarts Bowl against Miami or roll the dice take it that is beyond the new year six or the playoff which however that lands out this year so beyond that that is the Premier Big 12 bowl that in the Alamo and that is a premier opponent so you're top four or five in the Big 12 playing Miami taking it a roll the dice take it Lucas I like that match up so yeah definitely take it I think I would take it too I think a lot of people would roll the dice if you're thinking you're going to go 10 and two and be in the Big 12 title game but playing in Miami being in the Pop-Tart bowl that is a step forward and I think that is a really good opportunity yeah and it's a good Bowl I think coach Maguire would have a lot of fun with that for sure so with the players and I think as far as bowls go the Pop-Tart Bowl has been the best Marketing in the last four or five years that you've gotten out of bowl games I mean they are they brought uh they brought uh like a memorial plaque for the dead poptart that was eaten to Big 12 media days and that's just incredible incredible all right if you could lock in one home and home game for Texas Tech non-conference football who would you lock in um I'm going to take the first team that came to my head I'm not going to spend a whole lot of time grinding over this one uh I'm going to do Virginia Tech oo that' be fun to go to Virginia Tech and see inter Sandman all that mhm that's a great one and you know Battle of Tex yeah another um you know decent uh above average brand that I think fans in this town would enjoy watching we I mean that's you know I've done a million games and um I've never called one with Virginia Tech in it so I think a game here and a game there would be great that would be awesome and in more Sports let's give Virginia Tech on the schedule yeah Lucas give any dream stadiums you want to go to so there's two schools I came to mind um I'll give you both and you can give me your thoughts uh out of the bakon Michigan State and then out of the SEC Auburn both good Auburn would be a good one Michigan State see that's the level I think you would go for that that level of school you got some history got some Intrigue Auburn that level of the SEC I think would be great you have Mississippi State on the schedule 28 29 coming up look forward to that one Lucas uh I went with more of a historical matchup Nebraska put Nebraska back on the schedule and then an con that'd be great or just bring it back to the Big 12 uh Nebraska yall wise up take a few extra less less uh pennies and and come back if you could somehow get Nebraska in the next two years too uh with Minnie Mahomes over there in Dylan Rola I think that I think that'd be a good matchup who's uh pretty darn good in the old football game on the on the yes he is CFB he as a true freshman yeah you know um his sister played volleyball and still might still be playing for uh Kansas I think I've called two or three of her matches and just kind of going uh Daddy rayola might be watching don't want to don't want to upset him don't upset anybody oh he Dylan is gonna be really good and I hope uh I hope he is I do too I mean I don't I'm not in the the camp of we need Nebraska to be good for college football I'm at the point where I kind of miss Nebraska being good especially since you don't have to deal with them yeah now they're at a distance and you know you know I always had this Theory you know like Nebraska fans are the nicest fans in the world well you know why they're nice because the overall series is 75 and4 as you come up to Lincoln they couldn't wait to have Oklahoma State come up there welcome Cowboy fans we're going to win today it's we G to drop our balloons in the three minutes yeah yeah sure you're GNA be nice yeah they were much uh much more aggressive to Texas Tech they're in the mid 2000s when Texas Tech started beating them uh all right one more it was players weekend of this weekend that was one of the best sportting events I've ever been to it was about was when Kevin Williams was a defensive lineman it was when Josh Fields was a quarterback so 2002 and OSU hadn't beaten Nebraska since 1965 maybe and uh went with my dad and we sat in bad seats in rain and cold and this was back when uh you could still smoke so I remember going to halftime to get some cover and smelling everybody smoking their heaters this is a weird thing I enjoyed that I enjoyed that that smell of the football game I don't know why I like cigarette smoke now I don't like it on my clothes and I don't like to be in like surrounded bar but if I walk by it and that's again I smoked for a little while um wait wait wait wait wait wait wait back um I remember going to a game at Arkansas and they had those winding ramps yeah and just like a chimney yeah and we went outside at the at the very top yeah and there was just people smoking out there back in those days you you you could leave the stands and smoke underneath um and looking out over the Ozarks and just on a beautiful day and Alabama's in town we're watching Alabama and Arkansas we just went over there to watch a football game me and my buddy awesome that's awesome uh loic real realtor wants to schedule home and home with A&M and Notre Dame Notre Dame would be another one you'd sell that one out Notre Dame five minutes oh yeah so that going back to the early 2000s when you had NC State old mess um you went to Ohio State but those couple of those home and homes were pretty awesome early and you're getting back into that you also have a few years the next few years where you're not playing great opponents but they're at home and you're going to win and you're just trying to stack dubs at this point trying to get to that cfp uh I just turned on the radio in the middle of that uh Japanese question mark clip and I've never been more confused uh Korean Korean wide right is what that is oh uh fighter says if you want to lose you'll bring back Nebraska is bull fighter a closet Nebraska he's not a closet Nebraska he's he's very out in the open Nebraska live owners want to build around the Jones and rip Griffin but want to rename it after Texas TCH theme what would you name it would it Thrive here so Iowa state is doing something similar putting a bunch of bars and restaurants is going to be on the bridge Bridge across from the bridge yeah in that parking lot area um that would be awesome to to see I don't know where in LC that you would build across from the Jones um we've talked about our pipe dream of a new baseball stadium I think that would like if you could you remember where I said home plate would be do you remember when we had that conversation on Twitter I think we did so we're saying it's at the in the grass area where the colise was and you're facing the Jones left field left Center Jones would be beyond that yeah and then it's just such a good visual too yeah and then you don't have to demolish your brand new Clubhouse you just enter across the street well there probably wouldn't be a street you would enter through the right center field gate yep I mean like and people might think well that's it's not you know logistically right West Virginia does that their brand new ballpark they come a right feel and if you did it that way you could one give some tailgating area to those two facilities right in where Dan Law is now or or you could have a world class track and field outdoor facility like your world class indoor facility Bingo and then that serves for uh media during regionals like like the current one does yep hey I'm down I am down with that another question here is uh is tadlock going to Chell out the money like Glascow is done uh well first of all Glasgow didn't pay anything Glasgow no uh a booster paid so is there an ex baseball player out there yeah uh maybe you wait for arbitration but Josh Young's going to have some money pretty soon if the young Brothers both hit arbitration in the next five years uh you might might be selling quite a few guys on the dream of coming to Texas Tech with some Ino money yeah depending on uh those contracts it is to a point for me that what was it last week where we saw another $5 million gift to football uhhuh um you have a higher nil budget in basketball the North Carolina I think you have a top 10 top five nil budget for hoops uh softball gets a million dooll pitcher I am to the point where I'm getting a little miffed about the lack of that kind of stuff for baseball it's like it's like saying Tad we know you're one of the best coaches in the country keep doing it on on on the cheap yeah it's it's almost like he has a a hand tied behind his back keep doing it on on the cheap yeah you got a great staff keep doing it on the cheap I mean you I've heard players from other teams when I'm walking around getting interviews say this is kind of a dump isn't it to our place it doesn't feel good and I don't think it's a dump by any stretch I've seen it I've seen dumps but it is way way behind especially some of the new facilities obviously Oklahoma state has world class facilities they built in the last couple of years I think it's the second best in the country certainly uh thec yeah bomb uh bomb dudy Noble uh the agies are putting a bunch of money back into Blue Bell even though it's already one of the better ones out there you know I've never called a game there is that crazy that is crazy that's crazy I've seen four football games there yeah but never working working basketball back into the fold I would assume some baseball might be called basketball at A&M uh this user don't turn your back on the wolf pack too sweet wolf pack WCW oh yeah I had no clue uh the Texas live uh maybe Matador live or Tech live I just I don't know where you would put that I mean obviously you're having to I mean there's that place taking away a lot of parking that's very very important on game days or else you're kind of comboing it in there with the Overton and uh that apartment complex the chilies and whatever else is over there I don't know why but that feels like so far away yeah um yeah I don't know I I just it would be awesome it would be really awesome to have a Texas live type thing down there with some bars and whatnot you remember uh but I just don't know the footprint where did you ever go to Durangos it's lunchtime do you ever go to Durango oh yeah back in the day uhhuh oh how much do we miss that place I think the they're coming back oh come on I think they are I think the owners coming back those burritos the size of your forearm the uh the flat enchiladas with an egg on top oh yeah Durango they they lunch Group which I think it was on on Wednesday and he goes do you want to meet us at dangas dangas and I remember going to Google and searching for dangas yeah with a J maybe yeah why Corky it's where on 34th but uh Texas take baseball just doesn't have a donor like Cody Campbell or Dusty wble that other programs do I mean that is I mean you get the sellers tie with softball Cody with football Dusty with basketball so you do need ter Fuller somebody out there happy uh 69th birthday to Terry shout out uh but I I mean the the conversation I think the Matador Club is you know competitive with baseball but you just have that's the flat line the Baseline you need need something out there to to drop in a certain amount right to say this is just for baseball I know they tried hard for a big time pitcher last year instead went to Wake Forest a bar on Texas te campus not sure that will happen well it's it'd be right off campus it's a collection of bars but there are a lot of
