CHAMPIONS WEEK IS HERE!!!πŸ† | MODUS Super Series | Series 8 Champions Week | Group A Session 1

[Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] he [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] okay on the head as long as the thing is isolated the firemen were just the firemen were just sliding down their pool so sorry just thinking about that hair thing so that filled up pretty quickly but lasted for about 10 minutes or so didn't it so if we think about top of the shows L for the rest of the week we could just blast it like [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] he [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] he [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] he [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] he [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] he [Music] he [Music] [Music] he [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] it's Tom S the Gentleman Jim L Richard Eric Rollin Jimmy van ski it's the Doan near Jo PA [Applause] hog it's the Pacman Adam Pon Conor Scott Thomas Banks Marvin Van Bowen Steve West Derek Ker [Applause] a very good morning from Portsmouth we're here at the live Lounge well it's that time again it is Champions week where the Great and the good have made it through fighting for the Grandeur and Glory of getting their hands on the cover Trophy and winning Β£25,000 we've got the big guns this week and I'm not just talking about Paul Nicholson here in the studio Paul another Champions week series 8 can you believe it we're going to get another name on that trophy yeah and I think there are plenty of people who have qualified for this week who dearly dearly want to win it I know that seems like a strange thing to say but there's a lot of people who have never been to a Champions week before they will want to win it of course but there are people who have been to a Champions week prior to this they've been close and they want to go either one better or maybe a few better certainly do right let's show you who's in this week we'll start Paul by attacking them in two halves this is the first six weeks of qualifying Tom Sykes Jim long Richard Rand jimy vanky Neil Duff and Paul Hogan um not a lot between them Paul Hogan little Gap from the rest of the players but everybody else uh pretty close in the average for the week yeah I think what we'll see throughout the course of the 12 weeks getting into this Champions week is that we have seen a new trend when it comes to success from Group C but what you see from the first five weeks there is not a great deal of difference between the weekly winning averages so it proves what we see week in week out if you can average somewhere around about 87 and a half and be good in your doubles you're going to do a lot of damage I think we have to take those averages with a pinch of salt though because they're good enough to win their weeks coming here may be very very different let's have a look at week 7 to 12 then these are the qualifiers from those weeks and we had a little spell didn't we of the sort of Young Guns from week seven to week 10 and then Steve West and Derek Co and sort of restoring a little bit of order for the experienced players there is one name that stands out and one average that stands out there the only one north of 90 Connor Scot we can't ignore it it's the best performance of the series and he's done it the perfect way he's won group a he's won group one on a Saturday night he's won the week so you can't have a better week than that but don't be fooled he didn't have it all his own way he had to do it the hard way in the last leg of the week just to beat Colin Osborne so Connor Scott is more than ready for this yep and The Bookies agree with that Connor Scot is the favorite 4 to one Jim long quite short at 5 to1 Steve West alongside him um going down the list a couple of names that jump out to me Paul see what you think about this Neil Duff 11 to1 Thomas banks at 20 to1 look like incredible value my first look at this this morning I thought there's a lot wrong with this I look at Thomas banks at 20 to1 that doesn't make sense he's hit more 180s than anybody in this Seas was in a weekly campaign so watch out for that and Neil Duff why do people keep underestimating the 2022 wdf World Champion and the more he sees that the more motivated he will be having said said that he probably doesn't need more motivation but I think there's a lot on that board there that I don't agree with I'm sure a lot of people at home would agree with that as well yeah and both of those players are in action today groue is getting underway this is the breakdown for the week Connor Scott Marvin vanvels and Thomas Banks Neil Duff Tom Sykes and Jimmy van ski will be in action for the next three days before the other six players come in and that means by the way that we do things for Champions week that they are the best qualifiers one note Jim long actually did have the six highest average but decided not to play in group a therefore his average is sort of deleted and he starts in in group C um but it'll be a threat in that group won't you later in the week yeah because he's just won a CDC event over the weekend and they they don't give those out for nothing so winning form is always good going into a Champions week just asked Derek Coulson who uh a lot of us tipped uh going into week 12 we thought he was going to be dangerous he was so there's a lot of people coming into this week 13 campaign thinking this is going to be mine because when you've won something recently particularly here you think it's going to be your week just sticking with what the book is are say the last three weeks a favorite to win the week hasn't made it to the Saturday now with Connor scirt it's difficult to see that happening because speaking about players winning things between qualifying for Champions that we can play here he's leap frogged players in the challenge tour and now sits top of the rankings there yeah he's playing some Stellar stuff at the minute probably not doing him Justice by seeing Stella but let's figure out one of the challenges he's going to face this week which is obviously the marathon format that's not really a challenge for him considering how he practices let's look at some of the opponents that he's got he knows pretty much all of them because most of them are challenged to our players or people who we'll run to in a on a semi-regular basis so Conor Scot will be the favorite for this week for good reason and and for many reasons uh plenty of time to hear your thoughts you're going to be in comms today with Henry Deacon but I just want to get one from you just nail it here on Monday so we can replay at the end of the week who are you predicting we'll be lifting this trophy on Saturday because I don't think that Connor Scott is going to be uh on this level of DTS in 2025 I think he knows that the clock is ticking and there will be the urgency uh for Conor to go and win this week and I can't go against someone like Conor at the minute thank you Paul we are going to get Champions week underway now for those who are having a bet please gamble responsibly it's 18 plus begambleaware.org but the Opening match of Champions week of series 8 is ready to [Music] go ladies and [Applause] gentlemen chion bullo for the win absolutely incredible and those three words are you are [Music] mine and that is [Music] real he feels good he feels wonderful the 150 clearance Jimmy van perfect first start it's 18 back to the [Music] another yes the ball yes fantastic maximum finish from Connor Scott [Music] listen on the it might take something very special very very special oh yes Marin what a finish that [Music] is and the time for talking has stopped and the time for throwing is just about to get started Andreas Harris and the last name on that trop he didn't make it this time around lost out in a weekly final and a new name will be ex onto that trophy could it be one of this darting Duo Connor Scott's been in fantastic form but Marvin Van velon was a top top performer when he was here at these Super Series just a few weeks ago Scott as we've just spoken about the favorite to win Champions week at 4 to one the 28y old winner of the British pentathlon this year and also top of the challenge to are looking for a return to PDC professional darts you take on the 24y old Dutchman nicknamed The Terminator will he be the tungsten Terminator this week one week 10 to get here he's up against a week eight winner Connor Scott and guiding you through every D on the opening day of Champions week Paul Nicholson and Henry Deacon thank you Chris and so here we go 12 weeks of competition culminates Here and Now best to throw first the best dozen fighting out to join the likes of Harrison to join the likes of Scott Taylor Jim Muran Luke ller a couple of times Raymond Smith and Conan white head as modor Super Series champions we kick off with the bookmakers favorite Conor Scott Who provided the best performance alog together over the course of the series not just in terms of his weekly numbers but in an individual match he AAG an excess of 120 in one of his qualifying games on Route and he takes on Marvin vanel and an exciting Talent from the Netherlands who has improved with every single appearance Here and Now sees that culminate in a Champions week cap Paul Nicholson's alongside me for the action and this groupe has got quite the urb for what we're going to see for the rest of5 yeah it'll be interesting to see who sets the Tor and it's very simple to say that Connor should be that person no because of what he's done over the last few months it's not just winning his week it's what he's done when he hasn't been here as well which has been very successful 13 if I may play Devil's Advocate at the start of the week remember when people were fancying him for lak side a couple of years ago 39 I just wonder if everything that's happened since then in the last couple of years he's built a better Armory because being the favorite this time it does come with its own press 100 well it's his biggest test since that appearance at the leg side a couple of years ago where he was a big favorite to go on and win that particular tournament lost in the preliminary round of that event the Canadian Shawn Burton he's got off to a slower start of the two here van ven threatening the break in the opening leg 19 was the recovery Dart he was looking for a dart two and so Scott returns for 92 to take out the open leg and to save his throw I wonder how much creativity we're going to see from Connor this week that's just a little hint of it 52 double doubles interesting two treble visits to leave a double the sniper really has got every single calculation but he doesn't have the execution at the end of leg one does he get another shot 10 just so what happens that he does con of require four it's a week where Miss opportunities will be pounced upon you feel and there is a first example of it Conor Scott was second best in that opening leg but he's taken it nonetheless he's up and running at this Champions week second against Marvin to throw first game on nothing changes here in Champions week you still have 15 games in group a 60 and of course because because you have qualified for group a you get two chances to make the Champions night 57 actually a really good friend of Connor Scots that has made the most Champions nights in Daryl Pilgrim but he has not won a series yet 100 he didn't make his way through in week 12 over the last few days so he's not here to try and make a fourth champion night well the closest player of anybody to winning a Champions week in this field is Tom Sykes who lost out to Scott Taylor in the final of Series 6 60 he didn't get that close in the final though Scott Taylor was massively in front pretty much the whole way through I wouldn't be that surprised to see a little bit of early morning nerves here on Mund from the lakes of Marvin who is in a Champions week for the first time AIS Connor 1034 as is Thomas Banks who you will see in our second game today and he's up against Neil Duff who is most definitely not in his first Champions week 100 marire 14 this first game has felt very nervy very edgy two plays kickstarting a big event 147 isn't going to be the the first big finish of Champions week but cor Scot could get us up and running in the t plus department and this would be for a break goes 16s on 104 he is disgusted with that second art because the first one was so good 72 that me just costed him the leg Marvin's got to be a bit more clinical in the outer ring here game Shan the second I say that's pretty clinical Marvin Van and it was that checkout that actually won Steve West week 11 Rich by four legs to one we went through a trend in the first 10 weeks of series 8 where every final we played on a Saturday night was a minimum of six legs then over the last two weeks they've only gone five 99 terms of Champions week finals and we will cross that bridge a bit more when we get there on Saturday only two of the seven have gone all the way and Raymond Smith beat Matt Clark in series two in the previous final where C Crabtree hit 171 to leave himself on double four and never got a poke at the title because Harrison took out the one two1 on the ball I know it's early on Monday morning well we're on early watch for a 350 and it didn't last long with those three-winged flights which I think have revolutionized and I don't use that word lightly I think they have revolutionized Connor Scott's season and possibly his career because when he came here earlier in 2024 he was struggling to keep all of the DS in the board now with this new kit he seems to have figured it out what does the three sided flight do that foursided lights don't less drag and it's about balance as well I've only seen two players use these flights Devon Peterson 60 and Conor Scott require 150 one person used them and I think they work well which is Connor with Devon maybe not so much 41 we will monitor to see if any darts do go to the floor for the sniper this week but I would estimate that with this new kit he has minimized it by about at least 60 to 70% 8 obviously the speed the drag the weight the ratio of everything gives him more stability 49 Marin requir 72 if he gets a DED a double here he'll have had a dart a double in every leg of this contest 32 he may be behind require 60 and this is a Conor Scott which so far is playing subp if he's playing at this level you have to take advantage of the opportunities that come your way double 10 two1 SC but vanon could so easily be 3-0 to the good for against Marvin to throw first game on there's no point panicking on a Monday morning if you have a bad first game you just brush it into the carpet and you move on and you acknowledge how you felt what you did wrong and then you put it right but already we're starting to see the idiosyncrasies of Scot 43 every time he's been on double 10 in this match have you noticed that he goes right everybody has to get a sight of every shot they like think about someone like James Richardson he does exactly the opposite when he's on double 10 he goes left so obviously from an ey sighting point of view Conor feels more comfortable going for double 10 from the right hand side of the oy you can't tell me he's not do intelligent 56 con of one of just two players in this group a who actually won a group a on route to qualifying for this Champions week Tom being the other we're going to watch him in action against Jimmy van ski in the third game of the session but I think it's fair to say that this opening encounters between two players that are maybe just feeling the tension the nerves it's very hard isn't it to open up the show even with everything he's done over the last couple of years is9 require when it's your first time doing something like this you're going to feel it and nerves are a good thing it's a good recovery another d double gives him a level game so getting to the outer ring in this match has not been a problem for Marvin but like you said Henry he could have been 3-0 up and by talking of L four he could have won this much already 100 interesting stat for you having a look at group A's in previous Champions weeks only once has a player won a groupe in a Champions week and gone on to win on the Saturday night that was Luke ller in series 3 131 I think in Times Gone by people thought that by winning group here you get the rest you can be fresher for Saturday night this Series has completely deflected that statement of strength because Group C 100 has seen the most people come through their respective weeks half of the qualifying weeks have seen people from Group C get through that has changed a lot 100 con require 170 doesn't have to go for it but we'll scut treat us to the first fish of the week not on this particular occasion but it's interesting you say that because there's been a long time where people have thought Group C is the the weakest group it's the one which maybe doesn't have the debt for Quality compared to the others well that's kind of been thrown back into a lot of people's faces in this series1 Con requires 70 it's going to be tops 30 Marvin you require Marvin's going to get another dot of the double in this leg this is going to have to be some sort of huge effort to get there and this time it doesn't look likely he's going to get a shot at tops least require 40 in a Champions week with three dots in hand you shouldn't Miss shots like this no score Scott does and it gives Bel the opportunity to break the throw on the Target that the snipers just missed game vanel and breaks and has the darts to win the first game of Champions week s it's Marvin to throw first game on it's a what sedate Affair I wonder where these guys are going to be sitting in the group a table when they play again come game 15 tomorrow 60 we should also acknowledge that some of these guys have been playing a lot of darts recently very easy to say that they should come into Champions weekend series 8 at their Peak what I mean by Peak is lots of match practice lots of exposure to pressure and have that little bit of freshness that allows you to dig deep he's top of the challenge to order of Merit one he's won events this year on numerous circuits this is probably just another day at the office for Connor however you can also make the argument the other the other way a lot of the players that playing this week have done well on tours where if you don't win a certain event there's another one coming we're going to see what they're like when this means everything this means more than anything else 180 and that there is no Second Chances and that there's no going back there are two different ways of looking at that though this does mean more than anything else to some players this week 124 this is something people desperately want to add to their collection that makes this just a little bit different for someone like do or west and that is a perfect save from Conor at exactly the right time the maximum followed by the one 124 and that is just a taste of the quality in class that Conor Scott possesses and I suppose it's about fitting that the first game of Champions week has a last leg decided just like the last Champions week match we saw at the back end of May when Harrison beat Crabtree in the final 57 I'm sure Karma's really happy that you've brought that up at least twice in the first match of Champions week you'll be watching as many of you will be throughout the course of the week and you can get in contact with us via MSS darts on our social media feeds yeah cam is one of seven players that have been to 88 more than one champ I night and if Crabtree had been here this week and threw to Saturday night once again he would have made it three in a row 136 which has never been done 100 if Scott gets out of this game with a win he will wonder how there's an average six points left than vanon in this contest sometimes you just need to find a way and he's going to have to find a way from behind because vanon has taken the darts he's going to be first to a finish only a ton for the sniper 143 he definitely wanted to leave 116 there the big shots are on how close can Scot get to this6 15 for an early statement oh not now we talked about it earlier in the match 12 that was just a really unfortunate deflection where's been an opening game which at times has been marred by nerves but it's Marvin vanon who's the Victor and little cry that little let out of emotion tells you that he is the first player to win a game at Champions week could salute down the barrel of the camera the first player to pick points up and the favorite to go on and lift the title on Saturday night Connor Scott has gone off to a losing start it's van velon the first player in the win is enclosure he gets the better of Connor Scotts in seven average just under 19 a couple of t plus checkouts in there as well van beat Scott by four legs to three coming up after the break the most experienced campaigner in this group Neil Duff goes Toe to Toe with Thomas Banks [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so one game down this Champions week just 10 103 to go before somebody picks up that Trophy and joins the likes of lot ller and Andreas Harrison in becoming modus Super Series champions the next match features a senior against a junior in the form of Neil Duff against Thomas Banks the youngster who won week nine having come through group C just 17 years of age at Champions week sounds familiar doesn't it he takes on the duff man who has had his own glories already in the game of course a 2022 wdf World Champion he's already won plenty of weeks here at the Super Series being at Champions weeks also won the double start competition the first one which he'll be returning for to defend his title next week but will he be going there as a series 8 Champion his campaign Starts Now against Thomas Banks and to talk you through it it's back to Paul and Henry thank you Chris and I suppose a meeting between Junior and senior is enough to make you move your feet to the tungsten tune here at the live Lounge well Thomas Banks the last time he was here really set the place a light won his week and won it in some style beat Conor henahan in the following week nine and he really did get the crowd going up against a man nil duve who ooze his class when in front of a crowd and oo his class whenever he's here he's become a specialist in terms of knowing how to work the week in his favor he knows that Monday isn't the be and end all but he's found a way to Peak at the right time and if he Peaks at the right time this week he may well complete the set a qualifying week a double start week a Champions week he would have won everything he is eligible to have won in this building 43 and he would beat Jim mchan to that because he's already got a series title and who did Neil Duff defeat on route to that double start title a certain Jim mchan I think there's a certain Grandeur towards winning everything that's on offer you look at someone like Bobby Jones in golf around the 30s and 40s or even before that he won pretty much everything he played Walter Hagen was the same pretty much won everything around at that time and now Neil Duff is trying to do the same this week but what is Banks up to here almost starting with a 140 check out 141 well D is going to take out the 141 but Banks already look settled to the stage he is the youngest player in the field at 17 years of age but he plays this game pure joy of a 17-year-old but a real matureness of somebody Way Beyond his years and he's won up against the former world to throw first game on well I've got a little bit of a be in my Bonnet and half hard since Thomas Banks won week n he was not favored by The Bookies that week in group a in group C or on the Saturday 42 he's not been favored by The Bookies again because at 28 to one he found himself one of the rank Outsiders when he was trying to qualify this week he is again one of the rank Outsiders 1307 I don't think that's true I think he's in much better form than some of the players here this week time will tell however a somewhat more light-hearted my comes at the expense of something Thomas said in week n he said I'm not a big 180 hitter we don't believe you because you hit more 180s in your weekly campaign than anybody who's here this week in fact 46 of them in 25 games that is an average of 1.84 maximums per match 58 that is very very good dff of six here from the 150 he's not going to take it out with the first turn to square this match up at one a piece 78 Thomas Banks is actually the 9 to1 Outsider to go on a win this group a which was exactly the same odds he was on the Saturday night when he went on2 lift the title he was The Outsider of the six that very much could be a player that goes under the radar this week2 but he'll make sure that his chances are spoken up had to switch first start hitting that small 20 and that is his Miss if he lets that dog go just a little bit late and the ultimate opportun that is Duff man takes the second leg after the mistake from Banks there gets Thomas to throw first game but just to hop on what you said there Henry Neil Duff trying to be under the radar nice try Neil we're not going to let you because we know what's on the line this week it's the only thing that's missing 180 and as he finds his first Maximum of Champions week it has a certain ring to it doesn't it 57 it's a bit like Rory melroy trying to win The Masters that's the only thing missing from his career and Neil and Rory are from the same country 85 that became the first ever Northern Irish player to pick up a world title in this sport when he the Frenchman TBO CH to win the Lakeside title back in 2022 a last set win it was a to where duve won games in different ways the first few matches he was giving out predictions to pundits and broadcasters alike that he was going to win 3-0 31 true to his word but he also had that comeback quality when he was 36 to one down to jimy McAn before winning right at the Line This is a man that could win games in different ways who has a Never Say Die attitude and that could well be the key difference as the week draws to a close if he is into the final stages of Champions week 35 and you have to say of the four players we've seen so far he is the one that looks the most S9 you require 66 he should do he spends enough time here spend so much time in Portsmouth he should actually get a house here double top 20 6 Thomas should require 170 his first start's got to be high in the 60 just like that give it a chance 140 hand off break you require 40 early posturing here in Portsmouth and duffman needs fives he didn't want to have to use it but he hits it anywh third leg nailu tord what could be a crucial break against Banks he goes 21 to the good fascinatingly when do was here in week five beating Terry Nash in the final he was going through a process that week of trying to figure out which set of dots he wants to use long term 93 it was left in no doubt at the end of that Saturday night because of some of the numbers he punched in he put in a massive performance that Saturday night off the back of Terry Nash doing the same 100 in a corresponding group and from that point on there was no doubt that these barrels were his fut 96 and because he doesn't play The Challenge tour sometimes Neil can just get looked over because that seems to be the first real place we really look into terms of numbers in terms of how players perform and because he doesn't play on that particular tour he can get overshadowed by the likes of Conor Scot by the likes of Jimmy van ski but when it comes to experience of winning things he has that more than any other player in that 12 player field maybe with the exception of Steve 140 but Duff world champion with the biggest CV and is looking to pick up the biggest title that we have here and it will complete his person Tri Crown in this6 that second D just made things a bit more complicated and Thomas banks will be very much delighted with how that went for dff 59 he doesn't really take full advantage of it 132 so 132 to move 31 to the good and have the game exactly where he wants it oh another one of them and the bed is perfectly laid for another but he veers wide with dart two and so Banks has got an opportunity to break back if he can take out the 110 it would be our third t plus check out and we'd only be midway through match two of the Day 70 now we require 58 I think the jury's out on that second AR what's the verdict here that's maturity right there he wasn't comfortable so he resets double 19 20 he wasn't comfortable on that shot whatsoever Turning Point potentially if banks can find the double 10 to square up at 22 but he's unable to Fire and so D going to get another opportunity to move two legs clear the nerves are settling in once again as he takes the bottom corner nail and somehow gets a two-leg cushion with only three hits from 10 attempts Thomas to throw first an averaging high 70s Neil Duff is on the cusp of a first victory in this Champions week 60 this is a third Champions week for Jordan Del go on that number but Steve West is actually going to break the record for most Champions week appearances when he turns up on thday he's going to become the first player to participate in four separate Champions weeks I also like what you said about the challenge tour because we do great a lot of players on what they do on the challenge tour look at someone like tomes he's played pretty well there recently but hasn't played the full quarter of the challenge to a season so can we use that as a a real measuring stick for him can we use it for banks as well I don't think so because they've been going in and out of that circuit all year maybe using it as prep for other things well Duff has taken the darts here in leg five and is six darts potentially away from picking up his first win of the week in his opening game of the week and he's left himself on a da after 12 to do exactly that Thomas is being particularly stubborn on that Trel 20 when he could have used switch shots but Duff needs tops and takes his first win of Champions week by three legs it wasn't a classic by any means but dff who always finds a way that's that line that con stantly follows him doesn't matter whether it's 105 average whether it's 78 82 something like that he can find a way because he's got so much experience in the locker so he gets his first two points who are we going to be saying that about after the next game which is the final round of round one final game of round one that's Tom Sykes up against Jimmy Vani next year when that decision needs to be made he going to be 49 one year sh the age of the seniors a very viable option two players who are around that age well what did he say about the nine will we get the 141 will the promise come true dou 12 Steve West has won the match with the n Harrison has kicked off the last perfect style it's everything really oh he's timing this well again 180 with a nine D trouble 19 trouble 15 leads double 18 franchise Harrison to win the game called himself out of it yeah something that Henry actually said in just that I was quot to say Jared Co is one of the most sounds a bit fishy you know my grandpa markm do you a 177 and a 18 he's on a potential nine da come on Jared yes you beauty nice and high and has now got the game back into his own destination and wow the momentum is with him here we go 10 I wouldn't have said it don't jinx it yes yes Double 12 yes get in there Le I think it's fair to say that the F touch paper has been well and truly lit 108 six Max of the match hang about hang about it's getting ridiculous [Applause] now can Tommy lman give us backto back nine DS in backto back games he could you know he coo good backto back nights here we go then the third match and the first appearance of Champions week for Jimmy vanky and Tom Sykes Sykes who actually won way back in week one the only player other than Connor Scott to have won group a and then gone on to be the weekly winner in this series jimmmy van ski one of the more popular figures in Portsmouth taking on syes who has already tasted Champions week and it already tasted a grand final as you can see there series six runner up to Scott Taylor back in February he takes on the Dutchman who has won a challenge to a title recently and has won plenty of stuff recently as well but really started to get his confidence up here with his performances in Portsmouth he's got a bit of an army that will be wanting him to make it through to Saturday when the roof will be raised at the live is a full house on Saturday tickets on available standing room only but will either of these two players be standing on the stage Henry Deacon and Paul Nicholson in to talk you through it and so Tom Sykes the former series R up looking to go one better in his second appearance here in the red carpet occasion in up against Jimmy vanki who has made it to backto back champions weeks winning in series 7even winning in series eight and Jimmy van Ski's first Champions week appearance Kan curtsy of a win against Tom syes in a final probably the best Saturday night we've ever had herei winning a nine D shoel and then winning the evening and it really was a superb final that against the castle for Tiger 133 it is a subjective thing when we talk about best nights we've had in Portsmouth 45 Tommy require 100 but I would definitely go along with the fact that the night that these guys were involved in doing things like this 145 a couple of series ago now that really does stick out in the memory because it had everything and it was Jimmy who was holding the trophy at the end of the night 85 Tommy 25 Sykes has had a very very good start here dou eight game every Department delivers Sykes is going to be very hard to stop this week against Jimmy he's been waiting for this for three months and everything he's done between week one and week 13 has been in preparation for this 100 and I wonder whether this is the game where we just see that stand to go up a notch the first couple of games were very nervy but there is nothing nervy about this start from Tom syes 15 D in leg one his first Maxim at the beginning of leg two he is the one who is look looking to set his stall out the quickest 99 I know you were thinking about it right there Henry I'm sure I was too as soon as he hits D four you think Champions week n daughter again 131 doesn't happen very often twice in the history of Champions week Steve West with the first against Luke ller and then Sebastian beety with the other against the swed and toland and ski has got six from the little fish to square this contest up at one just the way these two play the game and terms of their Pace in terms of their temper you always thought that this was a game which both players wouldn't mind would suit to a starting match two fours two sixes sorry for Jimmy van 61 game sh and that is how you pounce on an opportunity they're Ling it these two are coming in this week and they are sharp they've been playing challenge tour stuff they've been playing domestic stuff wherever they're from 99 and they have zero excuses because their prep has been ideal winning form sharp form big ceiling stuff as well n I don't think you can bring everything to game one you've got to be able to Pace it over the course of the three days and give yourself the best chance of winning the group this is not the challenge tour this is not playing for your country it's a very different discipline syes here has kicked off with a 15 and a 14 29 darts of the first couple of legs and it looks like he's going to Rampage his way into a 3-0 lead 45 and when you're in a group like this when it is the best playing the best every single player wants to make their Mark straight away and this is exactly what Tom Sykes is doing here just look at that beautiful follow through on DT two he gave that DT no excuse to land short and technically he's one of the strongest players at this level of the game also what was smart was the fact that he knew Vani couldn't leave a finish no matter what and so decided instead of busting going for the single 12 last start of the last visit missed a couple at a double but he's going to get plenty of time to convert a two-nil lead into a 3-0 lead 58 so which Dart does he hit double eight with Tommy rqua 16 he's become almost naed for hitting it with dart two after an ideal marker game this one doesn't need a marker tomes that's how you do it Jimmy to 45s for the first three legs but the one thing you can't afford to do after three legs in this format is take your foot off the pedal because it isn't the old one set format it will be best of 11 from now to the end of the week this is a man that looks very much switched on you can see it in his facial expressions you can see it in the background and we've seen it from him before on Saturday nights when he gets himself into this because he gets himself into this Zone he can do some real special things the last time he was here at a Champions week he won the group a and he had to play well to win that group a because him and Scott Taylor were trading ton plus averages for fun 140 and Sykes here is averaging 102 a half so what you're seeing is this feels rather familiar I remember that champ week and watching Tom and Scott knock six to seven Bells out of each other all week long it was great fun for us but ultimately The Knockout Punch came from the man from Bolton he walked away with the title and the jackpot and Sykes was left wanting just a little bit more dou eight van on the just about went in off the punch Mark of a previous start from tomes on the ball Sykes has the serve to take out his first win of Champions week 98 you and I both know that when it comes to taking a 3-n lead You're Not Safe remember that night from two series ago when Jimmy really announced himself here he found himself in a position very similar to this to someone who holds the average record here in Portsmouth 58 that game against Daryl Pilgrim that Saturday night if we somewhat in a paleontology sense look at the past and try and dig really deep and look intricately at what happened I think it was that game that has changed Jimmy Van's career yeah 100 he might think differently but from this place that game had such a profound effect cuz he'd G on to win that night he's now in his second consecutive Champion 167 he's on the 167 oh yeah we love that and he's on the Rampage himself in a comeback Trail is Jimmy vany round one Jimmy really starting to deliver and this game is Plateau back down to the center a couple of legs ago Tom syes was averaging 102 SK was in the late 80s in terms of averages well the pair are meeting a bit more in the middle now 96 6 and a half for Sykes 9142 for van and two t plus checkouts backto back has put vanki back in Striking dis is putting this game back on throw 100 not that Jimmy needs any help but when it comes to 140 getting himself up ladders in a darting sense he's been doing nothing but going up recently it's here3 and with a recent challenge to a victory on the 17th of August his confidence must be Skyhigh no pun intended of course 59 and he's got Tom syes a little worried in this first game of their Champions leek campaigns well suddenly ski is the better player 117 he's left himself first to a finish but sites can leave it more handy if he can find another trouble here he does 140 this is for a hatrick of t plus checkouts to take us all the way from 3-0 down but it's not going to happen and so Sykes looks at 104 to finish this contest off 86 Tom really wants to hit this to get rid of vanki 92 left double 16 88 Jimmy requ and now he might be involved in a one leg shootout to take the points van ski is very hard to dispose of but you can't miss singles at least you shouldn't double 16 does not go and that could be that it was a spirited fight back from Jimmy vanki but Toms steps up to the oy for double A D two for win number one of the week tomes and the former finalist Tom syes is up and running it Champions week he gets the BET of Jimmy van ski by four legs to two putting in the performance of the opening round an average in excess of 95 four out of 10 on the doubles he got off to a quick start he won the first two legs in the space of 29 darts he had to Stave off the Vani Revival with a couple of ton Plus checkouts but he crosses the line for two and so the first rounds worth of fixtures have been and gone coming up after the break we're going to watch Marvin Van velon and Thomas Banks go toe totoe welcome to the party and P here of the modus liveline they' both got the talent where they go real off leg up leg and dish out a heavy defeat what a way to start the day up and running on Champions week with a maximum well what a way to finish a 12 dark lag beautiful check out there from C Crabtree only needs the one on the second leg darus what are you saying about efficiency the third leg that the moment that ree Robinson comes alive in this crucial Clash looks like he's going to go for it and it is right next to his favorite double top he gets the job done at the earliest possibility that is C Crabtree through case not so Harrison gets the all important win on the second leg Darius laoun Darius a long time that clinch fist he gets the job done in the end was nodding in total agreement the [Music] flag she can unlock at any moment but that is quality from Harrison this would be a wake [Music] up welcome to the party in should be a good marker for him and is it was a great guy on the first leg Andre Harrison a break a throw for Andreas Harrison on the second leg consecutive breaker throw double 16 found and he does lead not 11 but it's a beautiful 12 reel 17 which he gets bull for the win absolutely incredible by Andreas Harrison he's Andreas J [Applause] so Champions week is up and running here at the modor Super Series and there have been wins for Tom syes Neil Duff and that man Marvin Van velen the Dutchman who takes on Thomas banks in his second game Banks looking to bounce back from that opening defeat the 17-year-old looking to follow in the footsteps of the two-time Super Series champion Luke ller up against van velon who will be hoping that he can bring the Marvin Army here on Saturday as a result of qualifying for finals night will he be there will Banks be there we'll find out in due course three days of playing group eight one of them will go through Henry and Paul you through the action in this one game thank you Chris two players with opposite Fortunes in the first round of fixtures going Toe to Toe here Marvin vanel and getting the better of Conor scut in a last leg decider whilst Thomas Banks is still searching for that first win and Van Von is up and running with a maxi 140 we'll get a little bit more information in round two as to how these guys feel this looks familiar doesn't it until six got himself a nine daughter in his winning week back in week 10 59 he had a very eventful week didn't he he had some spirited games with Conan Whitehead very hard to say that with a straight face 95 nine daughter winning the week had an incredible amount of support coming over from the Netherlands on the Saturday night and I wonder if they've got tickets for Saturday night because if they don't they're not coming double seven that's an added bonus and that's a superb fine that's a 12 D for Marvin vanon to Kickstart this match s against Thomas to throw first feels like it's going to be crucial for Thomas to get a footh hold sooner rather than later if he loses his first couple of games heavy there is a possibility that the head could drop a little bit there's one thing I could say about that 54 that pattern of half of the players winning their week via Group C 96 I just wonder if that's going to be the taale of this week half of the players in this group are going to play in group C on Thursday and Friday alongside Derek Coulson the week 12 winner Paul Hogan and Jim long 57 is there any reason why the winner of this week and the winner of series 8 can't come from Group C there is absolutely no reason why not andrees Harrison won it from Group C after dropping out of group a in the previous Champions League matter of fact four the last six weekly winners have come from Group C including Thomas Banks Jim mccuan back in series 5 he didn't even come through group a at all in fact he's the only player in the history of the motor Super Series to have played through one group 96 that wasn't group a he won Group C he won on the Saturday night beating Marino Michaels by four legs to nil in the final and nobody was going to deny Chucky that week 140 Tom 97 to level up 57 talk with a break opportunity here maybe we'll be just the one D to the Bull's Eye he's just having these little moments of thought before shots like this that'll work 72 wasn't going for Tops I assure you of that Thomas was definitely going for that Banks but what he's got to do is he's got to minimize the amount of chances his opponents get get Marvin to throw first that way he's got more chances of winning matches well of these six players that are playing in this group Thomas Banks has has the best doubling figures 37% over the course of his week everybody in this group a does have a doubles percentage in excess of 30% 140 yeah but compare that to Adam Paxton his numbers are ridiculous maybe not the biggest average coming through his week but his doubles were simply insane 45% for the week7 that is never even seen from some of the series champions they might be looking at 38 39% and we'd say that's extraordinary 45 that is off the scale I just wonder if Adam can do that again no there's no reason why not because he came through what we think is the toughest qualifying week of the lot when you've got the like of Wesley pleaser Andy Bolton and cam Crabtree in there and that was about the others that took part the likes of Victor tingstrom Mike wton 90 so what you're seeing is albeit 6 weeks ago he is fairly battle hardened 57 I 133 133 will'll give Marvin a 21 lead traditional route 12 almost successful 154 we starting to see these big ton plus outs scared a little bit more than we were earlier on today 63 I wonder if anybody's going to better that 167 from Van that we saw in game three double four for two1 leads has missed a couple of chances and champions week these are the opportunities that by and large get pounced upon but Banks unable to capitalize on the 91 and vanon finds himself left in the mad house you can already see that Thomas wants to leave tops no with every single chance he's got he does take this chance and because he keeps hitting it that's probably why he keeps leaving it even on that 72 left with two DS he double 16 for double top and predominantly what you'll see from players at this level and at the elite level as well is the two8 shot well you speak so often about doubles and breakdowns and the week that Banks won that tops and 10 breakdown was so fruitful for him 95 if he didn't find the tops a double 10 by and large went the next up 96 two players making their debuts at Champions League van velon does have big stage experience on the European tour where he played on the Dutch darts Championship Thomas Banks has played Gman price on the UK Open Stage so they used two big occasions but on those big occasions they were big outsiders with nothing to lose this is very much a different Prospect if you think about it from that sense it's a different level as well 136 a very different atmosphere 4,000 people at Min head behind you when you're playing the Iceman how about Ros Maron earlier this year famous place that holds a lot of tennis tournaments that place was crazy 100 that use of that small 20 92 he's not using it on purpose allow that that's got to be minimized this week if he's going to be successful well vanon has missed a lot of opportunities in this match one from nine on the doubles make it two from 10 and this game is level at two a piece fif leg it's Marvin to throw first game on in previous series Henry we've spoken to people who have won the title and where the prize money goes in the case of cor and Whitehead winning the very first one at gri musher's expense who coincidentally won group a 140 in that Champions week and Scott Taylor they plow the money into their families they didn't go out and buy luxurious items but maybe if Marvin was to win this week he'd get himself a bigger watch cuz the one he's gotten his left for us isn't big enough already there 180 count starting to go up though 97 seconding off this contest and he now has leg five exactly where he wants it he may have Thomas Banks exactly where he wants him one his scoring power has been so much better than that of Thomas 8 by fine margins 81 Thomas has played pretty well he's played better in this game I feel than his first game but Marvin just looks a little sharper 49 59 arire 32 216 for a 3-2 lead game 32 does make it 32 he used the lies of darts one and two very well s it's Thomas to try first you're the First Time Marvin came here no I wasn't sitting in the commentary box I was watching from and I looked at his action and I thought it looked very very whippy it is a techical term because the amount of speed that comes from throwing the dart from the back portion of where it goes because he was dragging it towards his right collor as we get blinded possibly by the golden watch on his left wrist but I think there have been over the 12 months technical improvements in the game of Marvin when he draws the dart back he used to do what's called a layoff where the dart would go further towards his right shoulder there you can see even Leonardo da Vinci couldn't create things like that but that layoff has almost been eliminated which means his throw is more linear now as a result of that he's a much better player 127 and he could be on the cusp of two wins from two this 127 for the game not going to get to go with the ballai 59 Thomas banks in the big fish at Champions week not to be this time and so van felon will step back up to the oi 68 points away from four points in the group we've all been talking about Scott and Duff and Sykes and Mark is about to say what about me 28 Thomas you require 105 let's press pause on that for now as Banks tries to equalize which is something he can't do at that visit 40 double top to double up his tally of wins in this Champions week two from two for Marvin Van and he is up and running it this Champions week a 4-2 success against Thomas Banks an average of 92 and a half that was despite missing 12 darts and a double in that contest for Thomas Banks it's two defeats and two to Kickstart this morning that's how the game went from a statistical Viewpoint Thomas Banks taking out the only couple of darts he got at a double but it was Van velon scoring power which saw him win that particular match it's Jimmy vanki and Connor Scott that go Toe to Toe after this short break both of those players are going to get their first wins of the [Music] morning on a minute wow oh my God that's under quit down the drain already itch him to hit the 180 he's gone for the maximum [Applause] 18 for the ball bull 53 no he said bull that's a great first start from Adam all look at this he's going to leave scap oh can you believe it that is unbelievable [Music] get match starts to put his team into the final and through to the final they go Charlie Murphy has hit a match winning dart on both occasions double four for the [Music] title Please show your appreciation for the winner of the influencer peirs of Beng George SCA and Adam [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] lip he seems [Applause] he seems to be out that's what he is Charlie [Music] Mur couple more visits yet we're not going to need that BOS High fa is through get and he's absolutely buzz it was a g that five face dominated [Music] throughout the infen champion [Music] [Applause] [Music] welcome back to the live Lounge in Portsmouth where it is Champions week for series eight of the modor Super Series and two serious Slingers on the stage next now Jimmy vany the giant Dutchman taking on Connor Scot both of these players lost their opening games and we be looking to put that right here Connor Scott losing out 43-2 Marvin Van velon who's just gone on to win for the second time in fact Scot also lost his first qualifying game in his weekly win fourth three that was against Ashley Coleman he then went on to win the next 11 games on the spin and one groupe it would be a sweet repeater if he were to do that to see if he can start some kind of Glory charge in a similar fashion hand you back to our team which is Henry Deacon Paul Nicholson thanks murf yeah really curious that Connor Scott lost his first match but like you said he went on to win the next 11 now that is tant amount to 22 points that brings up the question doesn't it that we somewhat Echo every Monday 100 what point total could win this group 22 might not be that far away because there are going to be plenty of players who are going to be jostling for position beating each other up but with both of these really strong players starting with a loss there's only one thing that they want from here which is the immediate bounce back well the last Champions week group a was one on legs difference 20 points plus 14 got aged out Bradley Brooks by just three legs on legs difference actually 10 points has separated the six players on that particular occasion that looks familiar 71 a71 to leave double four but Connor Scott can do absolutely nothing about the fact that Jimmy is coming back double two for The Tall Man from the Netherlands an immediate strike from the big man now you brought up the table of from the previous Champions week of the six how many of those players actually made it to the Champions night it was three right 180 g henahan and Harrison Bradley book missed out by a few legs on legs differ Inn the group a didn't qualify for the Champions night at all as both players kickoff leg two of a Max now Connor Scott this week if he hits a Max and with his first visit will head down to the 19s he wants to complete in his mind the perfect nine D leg I'm glad that you said in his mind 60 because there are so many different ways you can hit a nine dark leg but he believes in his mind that getting three treble 20s three treble 19s and three bullseyes is the perfect n da some would say that is very correct but maybe in the wrong order because you want to get them one at a time not all at the same time 94 Jimmy require 130 ski on both his legs against Tom syes with t plus checkouts is he going to add the 130 to the 167 or the 101 the ball's ey to do exactly that but that is offline and off length requ 40 Scott Returns the tops after 12 and makes no mistake on the double 10 14 data for the sniper to level us up at 1 these two have been sharing practice rooms and comp quite a lot over the last few weeks and both yielding success 60 both players winning challenge tours in the previous weekends allotments Vani with his first ever chese tour title which moved him up to six in that particular order of Merit although there hasn't been a meeting between that pair on that particular tour this year which perhaps is a surprise you consider the success that both have had 180 somebody is starting to put something together I'm actually talking about them both these are two players who have not won yet today and they're playing as if they refus to be denied in this second round of matches five Jimmy require 161 this would be something else now it's impossible Scott has options on 116 65 con require 116 he's got a blocker but that's a great f with dart two tops 76 he had maybe 20% of that treble 19 bed to find and he found it what a DT that was arguably the best of the day so far however he missed the double and Jimmy doesn't Jimmy vany if you like Champions League darts this is what you get for FL it's con to first three legs in Van averaging 110 got a SC 103 and a half and already today Van's combination finishing has been on point he's had a couple of ton plus checkouts he now has the 96 to his name if you're going to give him opportunities expect him to punish you 45 another one of the reasons that people fancy Scott this week is not just because he's doing that a lot 180 that's his third Max of this game and it's only like four he's top of the challenge to order of Merit 85 he's also top of the averages list doing this more often than any challenge to a player and then he goes on to do something ridiculous at the British pentlin 97 and then if we may talk about what he's done here he's only the second person to go over 120 average wherever he's played this year he has succeeded seemly a player that has got better for every single experience he has attained he's a sponge I mean that in the best possible way information everything he takes in he wants to make him a better D player and who are we to argue first and he has this real infectious Love of the Game now I saw Connor this morning and do you know what the first thing he asked me was not H how are you are you going to that tournament in Southampton tomorrow night 134 there's someone who seriously enjoys the game and it's interesting when you speak to Connor because we've had this conversation in the past haven't we about players going and playing in other tournaments wi they play here over the course of a week and it's all about keeping his brain engaged sitting in a hotel room doing nothing does absolutely nothing for him if anything it means that the mine can maybe w at times or do other things just physically doing something and by playing in other tournaments it just keeps him engaged and boy is he engaged in this contest averaging just under 108 and potentially getting the break that will give him the darts for the match and could break the heart of vank 83 can't 88 Jimmy hasn't really done much wrong here 47 however by virtue of not getting close to a d double there van has a chance to lead interesting he went for the 18s and the bull at the end 56 require 41 well this is a chance that Conor Scott's been waiting for double 16 is found it's a 14 break Scott has hisse in front and now has the darts to seal his first win of the day it's Conor to throw first game on I've been a sports fan all my life Henry but I am yet to find a more inclusive sport than dots 140 think about the pre previous Champions night we had bull Greaves there first lady to make a Champions night 85 first lady to win a week first person to be undefeated for the week but if we may divert away from that subject how about the difference in height Jimmy is closer to 7 ft tall 134 and Connor Scott is probably closer to 5 feet tall age whatever you want to call it 60 height weight record doesn't make any difference it's all about talent and work ethic well there's a long and short of it 58 Jimmy 164 this to take us all the way he already had the 167 today is it going to add the 164 to the catalog not to be so Scot is going to get a match winning opportunity at what0 Double 15 again he goes to the right hand side of the oy 60 with no success this time and vanki could take us the distance in game five Jimmy you require 28 leaving himself on a double after 12 against the darts and vanki is going to get his opportunity to take us all the way but it's down to double seven to take us to leg seven last died had into the bottom corner We Go the Distance once again Connor Scot has lost the last leag decided today to Marvin Van and he goes to the last once again just one more thing and what I was seeing in the previous leg as we get a hatot stand for the first time today the difference in height it's not just dots there are other sports where you can perform even though everybody around you is a bit taller basketballs like that think about the great players of the early to mid 90s in basketball in the NBA Shaquille O'Neal was over seven I still is over 7t tall but there were players around him that di but they would work just as hard hard work does peer off 180 as much as we were lavishing purple Praise on Corner Scott it could be van that wins this match remember the the sniper missed a couple of match darts in the previous leg 146 F ski 146 to win it another one of them would left double 60 just above the treble wire and so Scott 121 cross the line if he doesn't hit this he could lose with an average in excess of 104 and this proves just how valuable it can be to have the darts on the last leg double 16 to complete the comeback win a superb fight back from Jimmy Mani to get the federal Conor Scott for whom back to back four fre defeats leaves the favorite to win Champions week on the back foot on day one the game of the week so far without any shadow of a doubt Jimmy van ski today really has come to the party he's got his first win with an average of 9831 Connor Scott losing despite averaging in excess of 102 coming up after the break Neil Duff and Tom Sykes will be looking to follow what it's been a superb game here at the live Lounge [Music] [Music] he [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] he [Music] [Music] he [Music] [Music] [Music] welcome back to the modus Super Series where Neil Duff is about to get his second game underway on Champions week he won his first four warn against Thomas Banks and Thomas Sykes got the better of Jimmy vany 42 vany since Connor Scot with a brilliant performance in a brilliant match the Champions week really has started now so Duff against Sykes in game six of today's 15 and guiding you through all the action a Henry Deacon and Paul Nicholson yeah thank you very much Chris well this a meeting of two different sides of the it's Neil to stting R to scale Neil Duff the former wdf world champion I me it's Tom Sykes who very much has made his name in the ADC what was the phrase that you coined this is the place where worlds collides what 121 is there anybody out there to refute that 57 the only bunch of people we can't invite here are the people who have tour cards so everybody else they've been vying to be here this week and to have the chance to win on Saturday night this is where world's collide yes but this is where careers can start 100 and in the case of Tom Sykes this is most definitely where his career started well there it's an argument that Tom Sykes is the first player that we naturally found we all knew how good L ler was and then really showed it on this stage Tom syk's come from qualification systems without any real knowledge or knowing of how good he is to a player who's become one of the best in the world that hasn't got a tour card another put left double 10 s's looking at the 164 to break the throw it just feels as if these these kind of shots are more likely because these players do look sharp 45 and if I may say so they look even sharper in round two than round one game the first and that is still Neil the case for Duff who started with a 41 Victory against Banks so against Tom to throw first go but this looks really good for the northern Irishman yeah there will be people out there who will watch a fair bit of darts and in a year maybe a couple of years they're going to see Tom syes go to the protour because I believe that's what's going to happen and they're going to well say who's he get with it people 100 Tom syes us for real I need looks at home playing against people like Duff a party that really hopes that he wins that Northern qualifier for the global Championship because could you imagine the way he could complete the full sets in terms of winning a belt match a qualifying match there then going on to play here winning a week making numerous Champions weeks and then having the chance to play at the global Champs 100 if you play well and get yourself into weeks like this you can make a lot of money you can change your life 60 and your career trajectory 161 could drastically change it's different for Neil he's already been to the top of his Mountain 51 but there are other things he wants to achieve whilst he still hot winning this week is very close if not top of the list 110 he's not going to find the 110 and that would have been for the break of Thro saw a couple of Big T plus checkouts hit against him by Jimmy vany he's looking at one of his own here but he's not going to find the 131 and so Dar will have fre and hand at tops the double that won him the wdf world title in 2022 to put him 2N to the good 21 Neil Duff nail looks in the mood doesn't he looks in the flow looks like a man who's been there and done it before game doesn't Tom sites just look a little bit flatter than he did in his first game where he looked full of beans 140 he was put through the middle by Jimmy 3-0 up all of a sudden it's 3-2 and he just about gets across the line 14 do does look really focused though he's played so many group air scenarios 140 every now and again you're going to get a bad start in a group a situation but this is a terrific start for Neil who is almost 5 years removed from saying hello to the darting World himself it was the 2019 World Masters at the circus Tavern in perley ultimately won by John oer 57 but that was the tournament where Neil Duff announced himself to the world and we've known him ever since 100 21 he's averaging here in excess of 103 and it's on the cusp of a 3-0 lead in next to no time at all just not happen for Tom syes in this match and CR has to go where credit shoot Neil duve hasn't allowed him to get going in this contest tops again two darts that kiss the wi but cannot find a way in this is one of those game on game over shots could be game on 118 that obviously came out of his hand all wrong and do with no hesitation goes back to Tops and extinguishes any chance of it being 21 46 starts it is taken Neil Duff to move into this position in the match that probably is going to be the basis and the raadar as the week moves along as to where you're going to have to be if you are wanting to win games it's a five visit week who that is a perfect start not a great deal wrong with his metrics tons are good ton 40s are strong 180s there's been a couple big average 50% on the doubles this is a great performance from Neil however it's only missing one more thing 140 which is the final double if you look at Connor Scott in the previous match he had three maximums and an average of nearly 103 but he lost people know Neil Duff as a real good match player players got this Never Say Die spit but maybe doesn't get the pra for the real high sealing that he has got and he's shown a real example of that in this particular contest which he could seal with a 136 checkout right here right now my word that is a good deflection that was not going in the trouble 20 unless it hit the previous flight and it is now given him the chance to win this match 4-0 and to register our first bagle of Champions with 51 well Conor Scott aaging excess of a ton in the previous match but lost D averaging 101 gets the job done and sends a statement out to the field 100 point2 60 darts is all it took for Neil Duff to demolish Tom Sykes by four legs to nil it's the first whitewash win of Champions week that the tail of the tape in every single department near Duff was up to the task there he's up to the task this week it's two wins from Two for the former wdf world champion coming up after the break it's Marvin Van velon up against Jimmy van ski in an all Dutch battle [Music] look [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] w [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] great [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] will van velon be victorious again here at the Super Series this time on champion week of course winning that week to get here and only that but he's been winning so far this morning here is what's happened and Van velen won the opening game 4-3 against Connor Scott before doubling up with a victory against Thomas Banks later in the session Duff beat banks in game two he's just beaten Sykes 4-nil and we've really just got this week going with Jimmy vank win against Connor Scott before that Scott defeated with an average of over 102 then Duff winning with a three- fig average the first whitewash of Champions week and now we're going to see the Dutch darting Duo duel on the Super Series stage and Paul Nicholson and Henry Deacon we'll talk you through it I think it's the two players on the stage that are doing all the talking right now it's all Pleasant before the off but these two players that once game on is called by our referee Owen Binks that will give as good as they've got and they've given good account of themselves so far today Marvin vanel in two wins on two Jimmy van is already Fe at the group favorite Conor Scott today and we just got the sense in that second round of fixures that things are just boing up the opening round nerves are out of the way and all six players are very much in the swing of proceedings I've said in the past that I think when your mother tongue is something like Dutch it very much helps if you've got somebody else in that practice room who speaks the same as you and Marvin being there with Jimmy and Jimmy being with Marvin it might be one of the reasons why they might succeed this week but you're right on the stage my Dutch is abysmal but apparently the word talk of in Dutch is Spam and that's exactly what Marvin was before this match began and if May estimate why it's got to be something to do with the fact that he's won both of his games and he's feeling like the pressure has been lifted a little bit always interesting what you Jimmy Vani play particularly what he does in the background because he's found this real process when his opponent's at the ballway just looks down has a look at his darts as a set process where he just don't know if he so much there anything terms of fiddling what anything like that but he has a set routine he's had to move and Traverse all the way across the oy 91 Dart three because there was nothing in the way seriously those two darts went in the board and they looked not like darts in a dart board they look more like skis in the air from Ski Jumping Eddie the eagle eat your heart out N I think you're right about the process though I think every dark player needs a very solid preow routine something you can depend on and every now and again when you play someone who's a bit more methodical you need to count on that just a little bit more 18 would give him a dart at tops I think one thing we've always said about Jimmy vanki is he is very switched on he is a darts player that gets it I think that can sometimes get lost in the way that he conducts himself in terms of his mannerisms in terms of the Saturday night the way he gets the crowd going he gets this game a lot and he could be one the L with a break here that is a marvelous marker marvelous marker that was so well used as well because his DTS lean to the right hand side he could just guide it down the flight stem and just cushion it in wonderfully executed from Jimmy it's not just Jimmy and Marvin it's everybody from the Netherlands Belgium parts of Luxembourg as well France now you can throw Germany in there as well if you want but the darting intelligence that comes from those Nations especially from The Young CLE they are setting the tone and people are following in their footsteps and Jimmy and Marvin are nowhere near their Peak 60 two players pretty much at the beginning of their darting Journeys been pretty much a fast track is probably the wrong word to describe Jimmy Van's rise over the last 12 months but he came here in January as a ADC European qualify he'd won four qualifying events so he pretty much just guaranteed a ticket for every single this year and the first time he was here very you could see there was a talent there but needed harnessing went away worked really hard on his game and ever since he's become a big player in every sense of the word playing in different parts of Europe succeeding as well I think winning on the wdf circuit this year a couple of times has definitely helped his confidence but now that he's a challenge to a winner as well he's winning in different places so in 20243 challenge to a winner 126 wdf winner M Super Series weekly Champion twice we take him more seriously now than we ever have because of the truth be told it's disrespect ful if you don't because this is a player of immense and tremendous ability and he could be tuning up here Vans has had a bit of an off game so far panski cannot pick the pieces up there2 I've never likened the game of darts to a game of Pickup Sticks but this is a pickup chance game the second maybe just what morvin needed to get into this game because up until that point he thrown very little so gets Marvin to throw first Andi misses three darts at Double 13 to go two up he knows that was a big opportunity that's come and gone and Van velon knows that that was a steal and he is back on terms in a game that he should be to down in 134 one TR we've seen in series 8 as well more players finding the lens and they know exactly when the camera is on them these are players and when their quarter is finished for the day the first thing they do is go and watch the highlights because they want to know what they've done right what they've done wrong they want to learn from it is it a double AG sword though yes it's a little bit fun but can it also have the adverse effect at the same time of course it can it depends on the person though some people want to entertain too much and forget about the job at hand 97 then there are other players who maybe put too much pressure on themselves to perform and don't for allow themselves to enjoy the process0 Jimmy enjoyed that one but the first thing on his mind when he looks at his score right now is I want another one that was a crucial match as well because this was a third leg that was getting away from him and thus a match which he looked so in control of slipping away from his fingers first time this week that Henry dickon has sounded like an abber truck 32 and this leg could be slipping through Jimmy's fingers now that he's not on a finish that 180 in this leg could be a moot point well van Von is bounding back a come back as unlikely as Oasis right now but the question is in this group a who's going to take the Morning Glory that's the story that's going to be told how many you require 36 Miss for a 2-1 lead double 18 the first one wasn't really a marker but the second pinpoint certain things in the British press that are taking Everybody by surprise this morning including that stuff about Oasis but I'm sure throughout the course of the week we'll drip feed you some remarks about that N Things like if you win the week your name will be on that Trophy and that will live forever if you lose in the final Don't Look Back in Anger 60 just do it next time just like Tom Sykes is looking to do here in series 8 Jimmy van SK feel like this game is sliding away from him he was one nil up he was dominating proceedings missed those darts at Double 13 and he really hasn't recovered has he there's one thing that we've been trying to do in the UK for the last seven days we've been trying to weather the storm because it's summer it's bank holiday Monday here in England and the weather is awful it's so great it might as well be John Major's suit from the 9s but things are looking very bright here at the live Lounge especially for Van velson who when he plays well he wins 140 and so far today when he hasn't played his best he still won 57 van will be thinking where has this come from because even in that defeat to Tom Sykes the average 8979 he go off to a slow start had those couple of t plus checkouts but there been no indication so far today that the for guy was going to Traverse into the opposite direction he leads himself first to a finish in leg four but van velon can leave it far more handy of the two 96 Jimmy rire 130 he didn't really want to leave 87 there but I think he was forced to go back to the 20s after the second start of the 19s was unsuccessful 49 that has not gotten a plan for Big Jimmy this goes to plan Marvin is on dream street here on Monday Bulls I didn't entertain the treble 62 wasn't a bad attempt to the ball 81 but with the margin so meager on a week like this it may well just be the odd dart at Ballo that gets punished for a level match vanki gets a go of the ball he's unable to get either Marin Reon for a twole lead and would then have the darts to see the match through just takes a few extra seconds and changes the plan too much of a collision on the previous dot require 25 different plan for Jimmy on the same number and he knows exactly how big this is this is for an a visit leg at a key PA of the first day game sh the that's maturity right there he's noticed something when he's been playing recently Marv to throw first and he knows exactly where the lens is but obviously when he goes for Dart two on a shot like that he feels more comfortable by taking that tiny little breather you mentioned the word comfortable but is comfortability making both players comfortable because when these two are at their pump they are exuding confidence on the stage they let the opponent know that they're playing well have they just shown each other just perhaps a little bit too much respect here 137 it's an interesting question and I'm going to answer that with another one if these two are playing each other on Saturday night do you think it's just like this and my answer to that question is most probably not because if this place is jam-packed which it will be and there are people shouting for Marvin and shouting for Jimmy they're going to give it back maybe on a Monday morning they're just feeling each other out TR Le TOS that's superb that is Marvin vanel third t plus check out day his second of this match he leades 32 Jimmy to throw first and he's a leg away from a hattick of wins on the opening day of Champions week 140 cast your M back a couple of weeks ago when Wayne Jones was having a fabulous Monday he won five games out of five he won four out of five the next day and pretty much found himself winning the group after two days0 even if Marvin does win this match I don't think it's going to be that simple especially when he's being hit with five trouble 20s out of six starts at the start of leg six 30 Vani has arrived to the party eventually in this contest he'll be hoping it's not a case of twoo too late scoring definitely isn't too little and he's left himself on a two dter after n to take us all the way 59 some response this is from Jimmy double eight game how good was that leg Jimmy vany 12 daughter just when needed it and now he still has a chance of Four Points alongside Marvin after three rounds both players have one in a final leg today van felon beating Scott for three4 and ski also beating Conor Scott by that score line with vanel and kicking off a two jble turn it forces his compatriot to kick off in similar Style 85 well if I may he's blocked the treble 20 bed and he's gone right by a good 6 Ines there why wouldn't you go 17s 100 use your secondary beds when they're open and where they can be really useful consequently now van felon has this leg in the palm of his hands he has the advantage after six and a F1 at that 140 that 12 daughter from Jimmy in Lake six was exceptional but what about this bounce back from Marvin 59 Marin showing patience showing a little bit of [Music] kevlar in trying to get this game won after a bit of a blip no sign of panic at all and that impresses not just me and you Henry but that will impress everyone 140 any require was a game that had its es and flows but it's van felen who looks at tops he's going to have to find double 15 now and he does find double 15 and is a hatch wins for Marvin vanon looking in very good nick isn't he in this ch Champions week two for3 victories sees him to the top of the pile fre for three all told van velon wants again the Victor he beats his compatriot Jimmy van ski by four legs to free thanks to those couple of ton plus checkouts coming up after the break we're going to watch Thomas Banks take on Tom Sykes [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] oh [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] here [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] yeah yeah [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Banks [Music] Thomas's Bank may be getting a boost at the end of this week Banks looking to pocket Β£25,000 at the age of just 17 he is up against Tom Sykes in this one Banks one of a couple of players without a win so far Sykes one from two on the opening day of Champions week in modus Super Series 8 so who will navate gate their way to victory in this one it's Tom Tom with Paul and Henry thank you very much Chris to throw first game on Thomas Banks he is looking to get on the ball backto back defeat sees his back somewhat against the wall up against Tom Sykes who came out the Trap superbly AAG 95 and a 42 win against Jimmy Vani before then going down 4 n to nil Duff but whatever happened in that second match looks like it's been fix right from the get go here 43 I've got two words for Thomas Banks right now uhoh this looks pretty ominous from syes he did not enjoy being done by Duff 40 watch out Sykes is now on a mission 141 for the mission to perfection it's filed with it seventh step I love it when Dar players do that when they try to see the DARS from a different angle as if to S see is it in well it's not going to change no matter how you look at it but after the hot start Sykes is actually forced to go for the bull or double 13 6 he might lose the leg so Banks has doing a fabulous job here of getting a chance we know how good his finishing is but he needs to find triple 18 here half the bed was blocked 19 finds it with d three to leave himself on 32 if 13 is unlucky for Sykes game the covers the situation he gets the break he leads one nil he does lead one nil get tomes to throw and psychologically he probably is better off winning that leg that way than with a nine 58 nine daughters are great but predominantly they are legs that you are dominating 140 in order to feel more mentally prepared for the week winning legs in that fashion in 15 DS just bolster your battle hardiness and your ability to get through tough situations because that was a tough situation he had to take that 13 check out of the he was probably going to lose the leg pressure will follow the players everywhere they go in more ways than one not just the pressure that goes with the title that's at stake but the pressure is going to come from their opponents that are going to be in their way and Banks has responded well following a first leg flow s this is a real good contest thus far Banks threatening to break back he's got six starts on 189 to do exactly that and he has put a massive hole in it 59 that one's a bit Scruffy from Tom but as for thas game he takes a 14 daughter Thomas Banks another good game on our hands and just keep him coming Lads keep them coming Thomas Banks to throw first look at that Dart shirt which is a new one for Tom SES that is it's almost got a bit of a Dutch feel to it 60 it's the kind of shirt you would expect to see from an RvB or a DVD 100 but you can see from the back and the animation it can't be anybody but tom0 third Max of the match 100 against the man who apparently isn't a maximum hitter well so far today 60 he hasn't actually got one so it might just take him a little bit of time to get going in that department but whilst he finds his feet 83 there are other players who are starting to trot a little bit faster than he is 100 Tom is your 16pr Tom didn't go down for the 25 there which would have left himself on a two dat would have left himself on 96 and that's as a consequence of his previous actions he now has a free Dar as opposed to a two to 19 Double 12 86 a great Rescue of the situation second time today he's thrown a dart like that that's a big big Miss from Banks 42 that was almost too quick that visit now Sykes earlier when he had a shot at dou 14 hitting 11 he's gone for double 12 and hitting nine he's got to watch out for that slip 11 and on this occasion two might lose game on the third well previously Jimmy Vani couldn't take out the double 13 it was to his detri but Thomas Banks pins it first time there he leaves 21 he shakes his head but he's in front in a contest which he could conceivably be a long way behind in 93 incrementally he is getting better with his output 58 didn't start that great with a 79 average but he did go up a couple of points after that this is a big Improvement I think it just goes to show what these players really want to get out of themselves when you're winning 21 with a 92 average and you're not happy but Sykes there's no problem in the 180 column at the minute but it's the supporting scores that's the problem 418 for S the record in a game at the Super Series is seven that was hit by Mark dubridge against West Newton almost two years ago now 43 Tom rire 130 he's only got one ton plus score in this match one 140 plus score and four maximums and I'm sure he went for that Bullseye when he didn't need to to try and get something going the fact that he's found himself on double te twice in this match already is not a good sign he finds himself on 28 and guess what he hits it with the second D and we are 22 there you can see it it is someing scoring pack where the 180s Dominate and the supporting scores are not even in total the same as the 180 count he doesn't have the DTs in this contest so we might need more of these 180 seven did you see he can get three more 57 if he gets another one in this visit he'll be on the nine again 99 after that first start I was expecting him to be on at least five perfect dots 58 so far in this game Sykes has hit banks with the kitchen sink with the T ATT touched which would hurt but he's still very much part of the equation and he's got his first 180 tell 122 to put his nose in front once again he then have the darts for the match he's not going to get a d on the ball's ey Dart two going just below the triple 18 bed and so Banks to again Stave off any advances of Tom sites is look at a 110 61 how you 110 ideally 60 10 and top s that'll do that will very much do and at the minute Sykes is thinking what have I got to do to get rid of this young man s against Tom Sykes to thr first game that was a very Michael Smith thing to do on 110 well there you go there's number six one more to equal the record 100 and the record in a game between both players is nine we've had seven in this contest 100 yesterday I was watching the BMW Championship golf and I saw ludig orberg a 430 yard drive on a par five and end up with a bogey six 65 it's the same kind of thing as Tom Sykes at the minute he is driving out of the park with the maximums but if he doesn't come away with the win they'll mean absolutely nothing as the old adage goes scores for show doubles for do and it's going to be double 18 here for Tom Sykes to take us all the way 9 it would have been for backto back t plus outs in this contest after Banks hit the one0 in the previous leg I'm convinced that Thomas Banks who's just hit his maximum of this match is using newer barrels than earlier today huge dot monstrous double n from Sykes who somehow survives and takes us to leg seven in less than 10 minutes s yourselves because we could be in for a couple of Records being broken if there's a maximum in this leg we will tie the record for most all time if there's two then we'll break that record if Sykes hits one he'll level the record that Mark Bridge has almost 14 should have hit that 93 it's not about the 180 record it's about getting the win he's only going to have one more chance to equal that record 60 the only he is he might need a 180 of his next turn if banks comes up with something tangible here 96 so strange that this is a game where the averages are only 92 and 94 it feels so much better than that and if Sykes walks away with zero points from this game give him a wide birth 99 however he's missed 10 darts at a double in this contest he's persevering with the 60 100 my word he's done a good job there but the destiny in this game is very much 50/50 141 there's it ironic after all the 180 hitting Sykes is looking at 141 to win the match he's not going to take it and bank has already had a 110 in this contest he's looking to win it with the ton checkout was looking at tots tots doesn't take and so syes to win a friller is looking at 60 we go to the limit for the first match Dart double 10 that may just be the most important do of tomes de because after everything he threw at Thomas Banks he was thinking I'm not sure I'm going to get an opportunity here Banks did have a chance at 100 he couldn't take it and Sykes was able to get the full stop what a performance that was from both players in a great contest but look at the amount of maximums we saw six from Sykes two from Banks But ultimately it is Banks who walks away after three rounds of play with zero points when we come back it's going to be Scott against Duff what's not to like a start from the young man World youth Champion oh what a response L is from his [Music] father 14 back to back 140s sing leg on seven 180 my goodness back to back 18s we've seen two n in last year's modus League SE a couple of tens seen a nine yet in the online darts live League 19 Double 12 for the nine and he gets the nine what a way to win B be a can take the five players and three progress to Saturday's final of course that emphasis is on qualifying for Saturday night's final because the winner up winner the runner up and the winner of the third and fourth place playoff will get their crack at Champions week 180 trying to get their hands at [Music] Β£7,000 first prize 4y five some of you for are here one8 welcome back Martin where have you been where did you [Music] go 100 Martin you require 141 Double 12 absolutely outstanding from Martin Adams as he hits a nine D we are making more modus memories this time in the bright lights and the big stage AG of the Super Series where a couple of big players are ready to produce what could be a big match big performance from Connor Scot but ultimately in defeat in his previous game and Neil Duff well he has won both of his opening pair of fixtures Duff undefeated SC without a win so far maybe unlucky considering both of those have gone the full seven leg quota will his look turn here or will Duff make it a hattick on the opening day of Champions week let's find out back to the boys in comms yeah thank you very much Chris and so let's round off the third cycle of fixtures Neil Duff against Connor Scott is a real heavyweight match when it comes to this particular competition we're going to get a lot of them over the course of this week and back in 2022 Connor Scott was favorite to win the Lakeside wdf World Championship Neil Duff was the man that went on to win in that particular competition and I'm sure the Duff man won't mind that hman coming true once again 140 if he does turn out to be the winner this week try to keep him him off the microphone 100 he's not a massive social media user is Neil do one don't be thinking he doesn't do his homework on people he'll know the real and present threat of every dark player he plays this week he'll know their strengths he will try and expose any weaknesses he's found and so far so good today he's picking up points and Connor isn't 60 he was the first player to arve for Champions week he was in the crowd on Saturday night he's actually going to be here for free straight week he going to be playing the double start week next week and he confirmed on Saturday he's going to be playing the week after that at the beginning of the next series so on top of the influencers event there's going to be a lot of Neil Duff in this building over the next few weeks you may as well call this place home con requir 71 double top for a hurdle game perfect hurdle shot 13 hurdle the four hit the 18 hurdle the one and into the tops one nil get first sounds simple anything but might got the hurdle but he's had a couple of barriers in his way in the first couple of matches 81 and what it also does is it ensures that Conor Scott can't do better than his previous group a record which was fabulous by the way but the only person at the minute 60 who is undefeated is Marvin vanson is Neil dff going to join him on six points if he is he's going to have to join the 180 Party by the looks of it we've never had anybody reach 30 points in a group a scenario 80 ever wouldn't it be strange if it happened in a Champions week group here it's highly unlikely oh there's also a question to ask here on restricting the amount of points you can give Conor Scott losing 43 in those first two games we don't know how crucial that could be come the end game because ever since the first match he is running red hot average 102 and lost to Jimmy van ski his average 103 on the knows right now and he leaves 75 for a 2-n lead and a break of throw against the duffman had the first ton Plus winning average of the day last time out against Tom Sykes but this guy had the best average of the day even though it was a losing one 51 and he might Ru that one 55 and the dot after it double top for duffman game sh the second are we going to say it Neil do we need to say it for The Equalizer it's early to throw first oh yeah he is the do man 84 that is what Neil Duff is known for picking up on opportunities and taking scratch some opponents if they miss he is more than that he is a quality player one of the best operators we've got but whenever there is a chance and there is an opening he Buy in large tank you mentioned that he's going to be here for the next three weeks it's because he wants to call this place home he doesn't want to be on the PDC Pro Tour 60 he's vocalized that quite a few times he's happy at this level Fair 59 the PDC protor is where the vast majority of the players that come here that's where they want to go they want to earn the big money have a chance at the big titles in the case of Scott he wants to go back there after just one year out but as far as Neil is concerned he's happy at this level 60 and he could become one of the biggest names at this level think about the battles that him and Steve West could have over the next few years and do you remember in the mids when the B was on the BBC they had people like Tonio Shay people like dfit and Martin Adams so on and so forth they became household names because they were regular viewers and regular players that played in those events year in year out Neil Duff can be a similar type of player in events like this events like the world seniors he could very much make his and make his presence felt at this level he's already done so of course by winning at the lake site he could become a real bonafied legend of the amateur game if you will 64 I think more than anything he just enjoys this level and it works for his work life balance 100 Connie require 119 60 for Tops now do looks for the lead 90 is it 15s is it bull is it something else it's something else it's double five and that is wide and that is wild this is probably the first time today that Connor Scotts had a let off but now he's missing the big numbers and big targets tops get there in the end but he had to make hard work of it two and up but Neil du knows it should be a completely different story that 60 checkout it is very symptomatic of what Connor Scot needs right now it's the recovery effort after losing his first two games he's still looking to to leave the day 9 six points and if he does that he's going to feel really pleased if you offered him four points right now I think you'd probably take it but the recovery effort on that 60 check out was excellent 13 less players don't hit shots like that and if you are Keen to work out all of the intricacies of the numbers look at what Scot is about to do 19s first now we'll go bull 95 doesn't matter that he didn't hit it it's that he did the right thing looking to leave the finish with the very last dot it's what 12 maybe about 15% of top players can do right now give it five years they'll all be doing that 60 now we require 120 for a level match trouble for Tops doesn't go and so Scott has an opportunity to move to clear6 419s and tops but he found a miracle Dart two in a similar situation a couple of matches ago he's found another one there but he cannot find the tops now we require 60 60 check out again for the opponent dman was so disgusted with a shot at tops there that I think it may have infected his focus on double 10 and somewhat ironically it's Scot who takes it on that very double double 10 has been the doubling friend for Corner Scott the sniper hasn't been as sharp as shooter on his doubles as we've tend to see from him in the past the double 10 has been a friend when he has needed it a matter of fact if you look at the Double stats for the last year only Tom Sykes has a better ratio 68 over the course of the last 12 months than Conor Scott in fact both these players for the last 12 months 37% on their doubles in terms of qualification Neil Duff did have the better doubling stats 36% compared to 34% but when you consider the amount of matches that were played to attain those levels there's really nothing if anything in those particular stats one matter of fact in this group there's only six percentage points between the player with the best doubling stats and the player with the worst doubling stats 140 all of a sudden it's Connor who is picking do apart one piece at a time and this time he does utilize the 25 he missed it to leave a finish in a previous leg using it on Route this time might be just what he needs to get his first win goes double double tops of the match tops of the win and Conor Scott is eventually on the board the sniper who was the book Maker's favorite to win Champions leek is up and running and I think he's happy but he had a slip up in his first two matches and then he slipped up on the oy he won his third but what a success that is for Conor Scott he denies Neil Duffy third win from fre it means that Marvin Van velen now has the ascendency in the this group that's a tale of the tape from a statistical Viewpoint we're going to take a break and when we return we're going to see the bottom two players in this group go Toe to Toe as Jimmy vanki takes on Thomas Banks next year when that decision needs to be made he going to be 49 one year sh the age of the seniors a very viable option two players who are around that age well what did he say about the nine will we get the 141 will the promise come true 12 Steve West has won the match with a n Harrison has kicked off the last perfect style it's everything really oh he's timing this well [Music] w0 with a nine D trouble 19 trouble 15 leads double 18 franch Harrison to win the game called himself out of it yeah something that Henry actually said in just that I was quoted to saying Jared Co is one of the sounds a bit fishy my grandpa Mark salmon do you a 177 and a 180 he's on a potential n da come on Jared yes you beauty nice and high and now got the game back into his own destination and wow the momentum is with him here we go 10 I would said it don't jinx it yes yes Double 12 yes get in there Le I think it's fair to say that the blue touch paper has been well and truly lit 108 sixth Max of the match Oh Hang about hang about it's getting ridiculous now can Tommy lman give us backto back nine DARS in backto back [Music] games he could you know he could you know good backto back night tars well the opening day of Champions week in series 8 has has not disappointed Paul Nicholson joins me to reflect on what we've seen so far and Paul what we've seen so far has been pretty encouraging yeah very much so I think sometimes we see stuttering starts and I think we did see that in round one from some people but when we got towards the end of round one and into round two things really went up a notch and started to get really enjoyable certainly did let's just recap the results from today the opening day of this Champions week and Marvin Van velon is the one he's won all three of his matches near du was looking to follow suit but beaten 41 by Connor Scot who you have to say is probably still unlucky to only have one win to his name yeah it's one of those things though isn't it sometimes you can have a really slow start but as long as you can recover and I was just saying in commentary that if Connor was to walk away with six points now that's still putting yourself in play for moving day on Tuesday but there are other players out there right now who will be thinking well I'm not doing things like this that Connor's doing and I've got lots more to do including someone like Thomas Banks yeah that check out in defeat to Marvin vanon who has been the standout player in terms of results has he been a real Unearthed Diamond here at the Super Series over the last few weeks yeah maybe I think that week he had so much going on he had interesting games with interesting players uh and he had the nine daugh and I think when he comes back now he's probably got more confidence coming back here than ever because of that wonderful Saturday night that he had beating Adrien grey in that final so I think he wants more of what Saturday night can bring just imagine after winning his Saturday night that was such a great atmosphere here maybe the idea of having more of that in his life and maybe having even more atmosphere that's what his motivation is whatever his motivation is at the minute it seems to be working yeah and it may be crucial for a player like him to get through group a when you think back to the last Champions week Bradley Brooks missed out on leg difference then finished bottom of Group B so how important will all of these players be seeing it as to get through this group and not rely on a secondary group later in the week I don't think anybody wants to have to rely on a second group because obviously in group a you get two chances that's the benefit of playing so well in your week but if you can have those two days off you can measure how you want to feel come Saturday night but the most important thing and it I suppose when it comes to the 12 qualifying weeks as well it's just knowing that you're going to be in Saturday night that's what it's all about and having the chance of getting that Trophy and the big check and Neil Duff he's a player who historically has got better in the secondary groups but he's played some good stuff today the performance of the day arguably that 4-nil win over Tom Sykes yeah he shut Tom Sykes out Tom just punched smoke in that game he couldn't lay a glove on him and it was so measured this is a great shot because he realized before he threw that final Dart that his hand wasn't Prime he thought I just need to wipe it down and make it feel a little bit better that's maturity and that's knowing what you have to do in certain moments and predominantly Neil has done that very very well today yeah that puts him second in the group a table Marvin vanel and of course top with three wins from three Tom SES also has two from three Scutt and vanky off the mark But Thomas Banks yet to get a win is it crucial that he does that now because that first place at least can start to disappear very quickly yeah I think getting off the Mark is what you need to do if you're in Thomas' shoes right now it's not necessarily Panic stations if he walks away with two points today but if he walks away with zero he's already eyeing up Group C which is something he knows about already and it's not the end of the world if you go into Group C this week but I think for his own inherent confidence he just really needs to get off The Mark with a win and we've seen what that's done for him in the past we have let's see if Thomas Banks can Kickstart his Champions week he's about to take on Jimmy van who is looking to join on two points and Paul is going to head through to comms where Henry Deacon is waiting yeah thank you Chris the stage is set for both of these two players who when it gets loud and walkers on a Saturday night play their best starts but in this groove pay on the quiet surroundings of a Monday morning they find themselves at the basement of proceedings Thomas Banks the only player yet to pick up a success Jimmy Van's win came with a 98 a against Conor scottp two performances either side of that have left one or two question marks could have should have been game two up against Marvin vanel and Miss three dots at Double 13 and ended up losing that game in a last leg decider for Thomas Banks there has been signs of improvements with every single performance so far but now he's looking to correlate that into a victory 58 his performance levels have improved game on game that is something he can cling to but there are some players Henry who don't even look at their averages they're not bothered by them we can only assume then that Thomas can feel one intrinsically that he is playing better game on game dark players can usually feel that though with the odd exception when you put in a massive performance and you say it to yourself well I didn't think it was that good 85 two players who have certainly done their prep for Champions League cuz they both got a fresh haircut ahead of the big occasion which probably STS in the mind of a dark player that this is a fairly important competition when you consider Conor scut scor for the old fade round the sides as well 98 Jimmy require 104 look good feel good play good it's as simple as that and this week they'll pay you good if you win Β£25,000 going to the winner the biggest prize ever dished out to the super series requ eight game with authority Jimmy bansy when he throws dots they stay thrown second against Thomas Detro first such a relaxed character is Vani immensely popular around here over the last 6 to nine months and I think when he boards his plane or makes his way over the channel he's someone who doesn't come to the motor super series with it feeling like work he genuinely enj enjoys everything about this he's becoming one of those players that looks at this place like home like Whitehead like West like do but if he keeps winning at the rate that he's starting to do 14 in his second Champions week we have to Harbor the possibility this might be Jimmy's lust we picked on it a little bit earlier on today but V ski seems like he's got that balance right when he's on the stage it is full Focus but as much as he takes the game seriously maybe sometimes he doesn't take himself seriously which gives him that air of relaxation which maybe gives him just a a little bit more freedom to play at the high level that he does play at it's just a game ofar isn't it it's just so happens it's for a lot of money this week and it's how you weigh that up that might affect how you play just going to be the layup here for Thomas 54 JY require a break CH for Van albeit a very big one he went 18s on this earlier he did so again to no success and so Banks looking at tops to square this contest up at one a piece Vani lurking in the back ground if it doesn't go banks on double 10 Thomas comes up trumps again he had it on a string in the week that he won he finds it again there Square this contest up 100 it's very easy for us to try and compare the careers of Banks and ller one just over a year ago that Mr ller was doing it for the second time of course winning the Champions week back to back 140 just because he's the same age as that other Dart player doesn't mean that everything is going to be the same 60 dots is not the same as some other things that are so much more linear and clean cut dots it lives in the great areas 140 as much as it's heal darts in some aspects it can also be a hindrance to some other players because they'll always lur in the background as a consequence of what he's done Maxie for banks first of the contest is it going to be irrelevant though 81 341 and six has got a bit of a ring to it 93 Jimmy this game is starting to speed up double five it might just be working into the direction of banks double eight 52 does not go and so we now reach a key passage in play both players missing opportunities to go two and up in this contest vanki has got another couple of double two can you imagine being as tall as Jimmy going for double two game Jimmy vany honestly the only way I can describe it from his height it's the equivalent of someone normal size trying to throw at the skirting board and that's not an easy thing to do 140 I really like what I'm seeing from Jimmy today I think his Poise has been almost perfect 60 he has had problems with his follow through at times this year but he's ironed that out 96 and sometimes when he's going for those small checkouts and something that is very very important he takes that little break 100 and he is very much a more accomplished player in many different departments than he was compared to the first time he came here he's more polished and he's very good at doing the Basics well so something doesn't go to plan there's not been any kind of unforced area that you can look back at and think well that's what's cost me a particular match 140 there's only one way to describe that third dot bulldozing 95 by virtue of that Banks does have a chance to equalize double top oh no score that happened in his qualifying week a few times but more so at the start of the week as opposed to the end of the week 60 if he doesn't put it right this time does run the risk different plan different results on the four leg Thomas Banks 22 F against Jimmy to throw first game on in the battle of the cellar dwellers as Chris Murphy likes to coin the phrase it feels like a bigger game for the loser if you get my drip because the player who ends up on the wrong side of the score line is going to have a lot of work to do particularly if it's Thomas Banks however the week he did win he got off to a slow start Monday did didn't quite correlate but got better as the week went along 35 58 this one's just started to pet her out a little bit averages are in the low 80s 58 maybe a sign of where these players are in the table maybe they're starting to feel just how important this game is 80 and it does feel different at Champions week it's not like a normal group a where things just feel the same everybody knows what is on the line at the end of the week they all know the big trophy that's at play and only half of the players who have made it this week are going to make Saturday you do not want to be the 50% portion of the players who aren't even having a chance of the 25,000 double n SC oh my for the second time in the game now both opponents have bust something big 7 now he goes back to 81 when he could have had as little as nine points Jim require 81 it may just be one dart at the ballseye here for V ski triple 15 the himself double 18 some response some response to the setback of the previous visit and Van ski is 3-2 to the good s play against Thomas the first game on 57 I think over the next few days the daring world are going to be casting their eyes over this Champions week thinking 100 what's the big story there is a story attached to every single player 100 it could be about consolidation it could be about completing the puzzle 100 and Connor Scots case if he wins this week it will be confirmation that he was the favorite for a reason but people are going to think that whoever wins this week their darting Journey may only be beginning as opposed to getting to its peak well the narrative Now isn't as clearcut as it has been in the past the previous Champions week was all about Bo GRE in the past it's all been about Luke ller and then we had the Chris Mason show in the first Champions week after he won week 12 105 Thomas you why 104 which means this is probably one of the most even Champions weeks and we have another game to go seven legs courtesy of that t plus check out from Thomas gutsy move from final against Jimmy to throw first because if he doesn't hit that Jimmy's on a match shot of 96 and we are of course aured 14 of a new name on that trophy 85 there's been eight t plus checkouts so far today five of them have been in matches involving Jimmy vanki he hit two against Tom syes he had two hit against him by Marvin Van 100 and Thomas banks with that 104 has seen us go all the way but it's Vani with the T 40 and T turn at the beginning of the leg has this decid exactly where he wants and it may well be this same old Sinking Feeling for Thomas Banks 94 Jimmy and Marvin have got a responsibility this week to try and restore some 59 Pride Dutch sport no shot of the ball 139 but where the national football team failed at the euros and fem C Bal famously came up short in the 400 meter hurdles at the Olympics Jimmy might not come up short no score but has come up short there luckily for him Banks isn't on the scene but he may well be in a couple of moments time 57 Jimmy require 28 his second win of the day and to keep Thomas Bank have add to win double seven to win leg seven and Vani is over the line he gets the better of Thomas banks for whom four games played Four defeats it's been a heavy weathered first day for the young man from Harford here as for Jimmy Vani well he gets his second win on the board an 8269 average despite missing 10 darts at a double Vani is over the line and after the break we're going to watch Neil Darin Marvin Van Vel and go Toe to Toe [Music] he [Music] [Music] he [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] he he [Music] [Music] [Music] welcome back to the modus Super Series on this Champions week where we are going to see a battle now between the league leader Marvin Van velon and one of his closest contenders in Neil Duff of course the former world champion hoping to become a Super Series champion really ticking off some stuff off the darting bingo card isn't he but it's been Bingo for this man so far Full House of Victories for the Dutchman van velon but he hasn't beaten Neil Duff before here yet the pair of them have met three times at the live Lounge in Portsmouth do won all three of their meetings when they played in 2023 can that change here let's find out with Paul and Henry thank you Chris but I think it's also fair to say that Marvin Van velon is a much better player now than when he was when these two did go Toe to Toe it was actually a really interesting week that because not just did you have Marvin there on debut also have brle Rose there on debut who both both of them if we be honest struggle that week okay Bradley did get to the final but are much better players as a consequence of those exploits and it is vanon who has the aseni in this group but that could swing the other way if Neil Duff can pick up a fourth win in a w against the Dutchman not a bad start 180 one thing Marvin has done very well today is measure his demeanor 97 cuz at times when he was here in week 10 he was very spirited 21 back to normal that's not me being derogatory by the way that's just one of those darting terms that you get in local darts places where you hit a maximum then you have an atrocious shot after that it just goes to show it's not just about the 180s You' got to have good support scores as well and if you want to ask anybody about that today ask Tom Sykes well we were mentioning about the fact Neil Duff is a player that will do his homework on the opposition Marvin would have been one of those players that he would have looked at would have watched the games that he played when he qualified and just seeing what made Marvin tick and what he could do to maybe see where ever Marvin could take over 100 now we require 106 D 18 would have given him a d to double 16 and so Vans have return to 140 to take out the opening leg with a break this would be the second highest finish of the day those two darts are perfect 126 and apparently he chose the wrong club for double 10 shot a double 11 56 that one was all sorts of wrong in Neil's mind because if you'd have said to him at the start of that visit that he's going to have a shot at a double 11 he wouldn't have believed you what can he find of there he's got two blockers in the way he's got a little bit towards the corner and that third Dart was well thrown and that was unlucky it Clips the wire and comes out the other side double four for Duff he's just starting to look a bit more uncomfortable on the oy require 14 and if Marvin can sense that he can smell an opportunity double one 12 scruffy start of this game now you're require and duffman could still win this leg who can pounce it's not going to be a classic leg but it's an important leg possibly nonetheless Duff goes one up and I don't think 23 Dart hold of thr are going to be a trend that we'll see a lot this week you can see from the grip of an velson that he throws from the back of the Barrel in fact a lot of his the inset parts of his index finger it's on the stem 100 I've always said that when it comes to grip they're a bit like fingerprints I'm yet to meet two dark players who have EXA the same grip they all have their own little idiosyncrasies just because you see somebody with a certain grip doesn't mean you've got to have that it's not like golf it's not like holding a cricket butt holding dots is very individual 60 we don't have many do players here this week who just feather the dots into the board what they're all quite ferocious I probably say Derek coulson's the one who throws the dots with the least amount of ferocity 140 and he was very impressive last week to win week 12 a player when he played here built up a bit of a reput last week vanon looking to take out the 116 he's going to get a d double 18 to do exactly that and he will find and he will fire his four ton plus checkout of the day it's been a key strength of his so against nil to throw first it puts him back on level terms against the former World Champ one 100 say what you like about Neil but we're talking about a player that is over the age of 50 plays an awful lot of dots 47 and if I might say so he looks fabulous for his age he can spend weeks upon weeks upon weeks on the oy and in practice rooms but if you're going to age well and to have enough in the tank to to keep going for another 5 10 years you've got to do the other things right as well you've got to rest right get the correct breaks eat right that kind of thing there's a still a lot more on the tank for Duff man over the next 10 years 120 well there an argument that post the age of 50 Neil Duff has got the best darts of his life in front of him 59 would we still be saying that if there were no motor Super Series if there were no seniors no I'm not sure we would be D going to be back here November for the championship tour finals which will take place on November the 16th the Women's Championship tour finals a week earli on November the 9th WE 12 looking for his first plus check out of the day the 124 is he going to go on this occasion he does have six to put himself back in front at 21 curiously his highest finish of the day is 58 coming into this match 58 now we have require 8 so if there is one Department that needs a little bit of polishing it might be shots like this as well as he's played at points there has been a few uncharacteristic misses and by misses you mean by some distance oh boy oh 8 two perfect doarts followed by something that he would categorize possibly with a swear word and he's behind as a result of missing tops by quite some distance I think he might be thinking the same sver but in a different context Duff two and up in some sports a Duff is not a good thing 68 in darts it's a world champion 100 this is what we've been talking about with Neil in terms of even when he's not his best he will find ways of winning legs and thus winning matches he's averaging 74.8 4 he's actually got an average 14 nine points behind his opponent but as taken advantage of opportunities when Marvin's missed he's one for nine on the doubles is the Dutchman and that one double success came on the back of that 116 check out well let's try and put this game into some sort of context shall we 100 Neil is averaging mid-70s buies ahead he knows he's not playing well but he still has a very decent opportunity of getting the points in this game regardless this is where maturity comes to the four and the ability of enjoying the battle now there is a potential that that could have been counted as a throne Dart but it's at the referee's discretion and the referee has said that that is not a deliberate throwing action and thus vanon can now throw that Dart which he throws into the single 20 bed we have had an incident here in the past involving Daniel Alby where something similar happened and it was counted as a throne d 37 Marin 93 it just so happens that he could win the leg after that happened 57 now he might lose it now require the B the battling qualities that Neil do has shown so far if they come to the four again he could be two ahead one DED tops and that is what Duff does get nil to thr first sometimes you just have to win a different way and some people they don't want fist pumps mid game HE2 for me that was maybe just a slight miscommunication I don't think there was anything Sinister in that [Music] 137 I think they're two players that play the game in different ways Marvin's very much of that new school type player that really gets involved in proceedings where Neil just gets on with his own job and will shake the opponent's hand at the end of it and sometimes you can see those cross wires and sometimes that's why those cross wires can actually turn into the occasional little spat between players that are very quick 99% of the time it's nothing personal it's just players approach the gap between legs differently some players want to be left alone some players like to engage with their opponent it makes for very interesting viewing 80 what we do have here this week is a lot of players using molded flight technology it's fascinating to me really really fascinating CU these are the cream of the crop when it comes to the motor Super Series in series 8 but if you look at the world rankings predominantly the people at the top of those rankings use foldable flates now we are require 74 he's had to battle for this particular win if Neil Duff can pin tops he would have subjected mvv to his first L of the day one of the most difficult outs is not going to be plugged so duffman 51 even though he hasn't played his top grade stuff yet still has a chance of getting to six points double 10 up for fives thir and he cannot fire and he's given vanon one last route back into this contest so what does he do two 18s is not going to be found now you're requ this proves five that darts is not all about 170 finishes and 15 Sixers sometimes it's about checkouts like five picking up on the scraps picking up the points you bet and Neil Duff moves to the top of the table he inflicts a first defeat upon Marvin vanel on this Champions week Monday Duff over the line a 4-1 winner pick up on opportunities missed by his opponent both players in the end missing 10 DTS at a double but it was Duff who found those four winning DTS at a double A 4-1 Victor against Marvin Van Von coming up after the break this could be quick this could be ferocious this could be furious as Tom Sykes takes on Conor Scott welcome to the party in Port here at the modus liveline both got the talent where they go real off leg after leg and dish out with heavy defeat and what a way to start the day we're up and running here on Champions week with a maximum well what a way to finish a 12 dark lag beautiful check out there from cam Crabtree only needs the one C the second leg darus what are you saying about efficiency on the third leg re Robinson that the moment that ree Robinson comes alive in this crucial Clash looks like he's going to go for it and it is right next to his favorite double top he gets the job done with the earliest possibility that is C Crabtree through case not so har Harrison gets the all important win on the second leg Darius laow game is Darius la a long time that clinch fist he gets the job done in the end was nodding in total agreement the [Music] flag she can unlock at any moment but that is quality forar this would be a wake [Music] [Applause] up welcome to the party in py should be a good marker for him and is it was a great guy on the first leg Andre Harrison a break a throw for Andreas Harrison on the second leg consecutive breaker throw double 16 and he [Applause] does not 11 but it's a beautiful 12 reble 17 which he gets bull for the win absolutely incredible by Andreas Harrison he's Andreas J haris [Applause] welcome back to the action here at the modor Super Series where Champions week is certainly in full swing now may only be Monday morning but we're seeing plenty of top quality darting Jewels so far and we may get another one here between Connor Scott and Tom Sykes got the favorite to win this week Sykes has already been to a Champions Week final before and he has had the better of Connor SC in their two previous meetings on that stage Series 6 week 10 Group C they met and Sykes won both of those encounters will he make it a hattick to will SC end that Trend and really start making a statement in his beard to live up to that favorite billing let's find out back to Paul and Henry guess what Tom syes has kicked off a match with a maximum he hits six against Thomas Banks last time out and he's firing an all cylinders as he takes on Conor Scot you could say that 60 this meeting back in Janu between the pair was what kickstarted Tom syes his real rival into the sport his real rival on the Super Series stage he beat Conor Scott twice he denied Conor Scott qualification through to finals night finals night that Tom sites would go on to win he then made the Champions League final and from that point onwards he has become a serious player in this building [Music] 180 stru yourselves in everybody because this one could get very special Maybe not immediately 130 well this one might be like a very slow burning burger by the end it could presumptuous tops for a 13 leg gives us the ideal ingredient to start things off but if I may con when they met earlier this year I think they were at very different points in their careers Connor's just come off the tour 95 and I think he was in a state of I'm not really sure where I'm at 140 he hadn't figured out his flight problem yet yet now he's figured it out I think Sykes was the stronger player 58 around 78 months ago especially in this place but since then these two have crossed paths again and Scott came out on top 92 we could be looking at one of the Premier English rivalries for the next five six years these two suit each other and it could be brilliant to watch for the next few years 13 Tom SES for the second leg in a row has left himself on the fish after nine and now one of them Busey 103 got the line but Leng is a bit low and so Scott two2 to sare up at 11 he's not going to get a poke with the ball and so syes has got a break opportunity here aing 116 and could get the first two legs done in the space of 3 minutes flat double 16 game sh the second how good was that Dart because I was convinced that going the other side of the oy was The Prudent player they it's Tom to throw first game on we can only estimate sometimes what the best shot is but from their standpoint they know exactly what they can do from all of those hours of practice and understanding the behaviors of the darts when they're in spots like that 95 things are getting very tight towards the top of the table you've got Duff on six you got Marvin on six now after he's had his first defeat Sykes Vani Scott all in the mix but Scott will only remain in the mix if he wins this game4 after this Scott plays banks in his final game of the afternoon another Maxi for Tom Sykes so far today he has had nine of them 127 I'm almost surprised he hasn't got more and there was a game against Neil Duff where he didn't get any 96 in all fairness you only got one dart at a double in that game are we beginning to get to the point where we say that players are raising their games against Corner Scott potentially let's find out 93 that was a big shot because you don't expect Scot to miss this I tell you what if took that out we may have been having a look at the clock double 14 goes Sykes breaks back but if sorry Scott breaks back but if Sykes took that out and lad 3-0 he would have won three legs in 4 minutes 39 seconds the record for a match time to be completed is 5 minutes 41 there was something very familiar about that check out from Scott he said when he beat Colin Osborne in the final four legs to three in week eight that he left double 14 on purpose because he wanted it straight down the line 100 that leads me to the next thing did he go for 19 on purpose there or did he go for a seven and miss it I know it doesn't matter but if he leaves himself on a number like that again it'll be fascinating to see whether dou 14 does come into play 136 No Stone is left left unturned by Connor Scott 10 to go where credit's due where Tom sight's found himself on the Rampage scut has just been able to reel him back in a little bit 100 big last start there Le himself from 120 but Tom sight's looking for the champagne shot another one of them or does he decide to move along he moved along to treble 14 124 tomes is aaging 108 but he could be pegged back to 22 as Scott can find the 120 TOPS oh that's absolutely magnificent cor Scot the sniper has real tomes in and despite an average of 108 he finds himself back level at 22 we said a couple of legs ago a players playing their best against Conor Scott Tom sites might feel like it's the other way pounds 137 this game is the exact opposite to their previous meeting because it is absolutely brilliant and I'm being brutally honest when I say that their last meeting was a challenge to a final on 16th of August it was five legs to three in favor of Scott and it wasn't a good game 97 he won that final with an 85 average I'm sure he doesn't care 55 but we knew at that point when they were meeting in that final that they were going to meet again here in Portsmouth this week 84 at this early stage we could say that this might be the Rivalry of the week it's a distinct possibility 95 going require 140 well Scott isn't going to hit syes s Hertz again with the 140 and so Tom has got an opportunity to move himself back in front despite 74 couple of leg spre of Scutt it could be the man from Castleford who finds himself in front in this game again top goes syes leads three to normal service resumed s get monor TR first some games come and go some games you don't want to end 140 it's all about sealing this fixture we know that Sykes has gone big up towards 110 and we know it can go beyond that but when you're playing someone like Scott who's been to 120 180 what are you going to need to topple him even when you're 3-2 up 100 there's a possibility here corner Scott's having 104 here he's averag 102 and he could lose both of those matches 97 it needed to be two triple 20s there to leave a finish so Conor Scot does have time double eight takes us all the way with a 12 leg cor you can separate their averages by less than a point is a great ding fixture we said that this could be the game of the day and it is JY living up to its billing look at the doubles he's needed to be really sharp it doesn't get any sharper than that however a drive is it could well be costly for Connor nice big last start in the trouble 19 from Tom he's only had 11 140 plus score that's not counting his Maxes 94 he's Clinging On and he's left 350 in a game which has been dominated by power scoring one treble visit so like gold dust right now they've been proven their worth from the Excellence to the nervin to the shreds Ville tension here at the live Lounge 58 whether they believe it or not they're learning about where they are right now and it could be very useful that's pretty useful 180 how has he found his way to a Finish First my word and as soon as he hits 70 con 144 but is this going to be the knockout punch on Conor Scott another one of them would have left Double 12 well this has been a Champions week classic double four means we've got more drama I didn't think he was going to miss that con require and I don't think Connor thought he was coming back he doesn't miss what a game that was both averaged around the 100 Mark and the only thing that could have given us an even better game than we had after the six legs was even more small misses at the end they came from Sykes and Scott has found his way to Four Points and he still got the possibility of walking away from a very bad start with six points four out of four on the doubles tells you everything he needed to know and he needed every single one of them as well so when we come back we got the final round of matches for Monday in Champions week in group a [Music] on a minute W oh my God no that's under quid down the drain already itching to hit the 180 he's gone for the max [Applause] 18 for the ball [Music] ball 53 no he said bull that's a great first start from Adam W look at this he's going to leave SC oh can you believe it that is [Music] unbelievable get match DS to put his team into the final and through to the final they go Charlie Murphy has hit a match winning dart on both occasions double four for the [Music] title should the mat please show your appreciation for the winner of the influencer pairs of event George SCA and Adam lip [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] go he seems to be uh he seems to be out that's what he is M A couple more visits yet we going to need a BOS th face is through get he absolutely buzz it was a game that face dominated [Music] throughout Champion Char m [Music] [Applause] [Music] welcome back to the modus Super Series where there are just three fixtures to go on the opening day of Champions week and before we get into them let's just show you how the land lies in terms of the early group a table Neil d Marvin Van velon both have six points three wins from four Connor Scott Jimmy van ski and Tom Sykes both have two but at the bottom well Banks empty a familiar feeling on a Monday morning for many of us that isn't it Thomas yet to get off the mark but the next fixture here at the live Lounge is a meeting between Duff and vany and it could be a very very fruitful start for Neil Duff not noted as a strong starter when it comes to these weekly campaigns he usually is there or thereabouts at the end of the week so this could be a really good sign for a positive groupe and maybe Duff is emerging as a potential favorite to win the group what say you Henry Paul well he's certainly putting himself in a great position and if he wins this game eight points after day one and not just that the legs difference as well is in a very good direction for D plus seven already if he wins this it's going to be a minimum of plus eight if he wins it 4-0 then after the end of day one he'll have eight points to the legs difference of plus 11 and already he'll look like a very hard player to beat and depose at the top of the pile 125 can we be honest though one performance today that Neil put in against Tom Sykes he won 4-0 averaging 100 let's just put that to the side and look at the output levels of his other games 82 60 his previous performance 74 and 80 in his other game it's not as if he's gone out and Blitz the field entirely here's one games when they've just been staring him in the face 14 and he's been doing it the hardw so allbe it he is top of the P after four rounds of clear here in Champions week would he be happy with his overall consistency nowhere near it 85 but we can reference point back to that world championship that he won that in the first few rounds he played okay but we know that he could play to a better level and then as the tournament went along played his better stuff but he did what he needed to do to get through those first few fixtures and maybe he's doing something similar here in this group a where he's got time and space to take out leg one but he's missed the big number there so he's going to have to spurn one upon his return 60 now you require 59 very hit and miss for Jimmy today it's been either really good or there's been one or two performances that have been just a little bit off 39 and that is just a little bit off 116 Jimmy still has a chance to take the lead at the start of this match can he get past that dot not quite thrown well requ just not on target so Duff man's back on 10 Duff man's now on 10 10 five darts missed to a double in this opening leg for Neil D and Van has got a break opportunity he must not have thought was anywhere near possible a couple of visits ago double 18 to pick up the pieces double n well that's daylight robbery first he had absolutely no right whatsoever to in that opening leg but he is brok Neil Duff who has Miss five opportunities at a double and because of a careless Darkness setup turn should have had more I just want to talk a little bit more about 100 it's not about the output of Neil Duff it's about what people are doing against him the highest average recorded against Duff today is 87.6 does that show us that people are not really that relaxed playing against Neil d they see how dangerous he is because if you think about that previous game for instance Savage 99 against Scott Scot averaged 100 against Sykes but when they've played against Neil do they haven't played anywhere near that will 54 we're very lucky that we get to sit in these seats for the likes of Scott Mitchell and Glenn Daren and they said as soon as they won their Lakeside titles the way that people play you are completely different is that the same case with Neil duve do you think could be 134 I think if you're a person who doesn't have a massive title in your locker and by Massive I mean something akin to major Jimmy 73 if you're playing someone like Duff who's got a world title you can say to yourself at the end of the day I beat a world champion today and sometimes you can want that a bit too much game sha the second that's a nice bounce back from Jimmy a 15 da gets him to 2-0 third against NE just what I mean by bounce back is it's a better leg than the first leg But ultimately it's the same result this is why Dart is so strange he can have a bad leg and win it he can have a great leg and win it if you're Jimmy van ski you walk out of here with six points today well you feel like there's some bonus points there because there's been some good performances but I think he'll admit this himself he hasn't played at his utmost best 100 show me a player that walks away from Munday any Munday disappointed with six points the only people who are disappointed with six points are the people who started with three wins and there is a possibility that we have a five-way TI on Six Points wheni wins this game Connor Scott beats Thomas banks in the next and Tom Sykes beats van Felson in the last you'll have the top five players on six points and paor Thomas Banks who will find himself on n by virtue of what you just said that might see Marvin Van velson Go From First to fifth in as little matches on the stage shots on double 14 93 D's got to polish this off6 otherwise he's in real Peril he had to survive a Dart for the double break 56 and he's unable to find the Tot so van has got another threee in hand a double 14 to put himself free to the good it's double seven now down to the bottom of the board and he does not like that one bit even he couldn't see over the top of that one 40 and you heard it flick the flight he probably wanted that D closer to double seven if it wasn't in he tried to bounce it in off but managed to find the only part that wouldn't find the double that's the only angle he's got left all the way to the right hand side top bin no score that was really hard Jimmy especially for the where he likes to throw at the board from the left hand side that was a natural shot options he was caught in two minds but then decided to go straight for the double and find it first Dart Vani free up he's got the double break he has the dartsy to make it six points for the day I'll tell you what Henry it's a good job tungsten is one of the hardest metals on Earth because right now around about 66 grams of tungsten on the stage in the hand of Neil duffers being squeezed and Duff will feel like he's being squeezed in here because at the beginning of this match he was top of the table with a seven leg sorry six leg lead on legs difference plus seven compared to the plus one of Van velen if van wins this 4-0 that Advantage gets whittled away as well and it now looks more likely than not the vanki is going to run out a 4-n winner hold on to your horses 140 he's still got the advantage of throw though 56 this one isn't over yet unlessa player would think that maybe their day is done Duff is digging deep at the minute so deep he's got his hand in his socks however that last D into the single five could have scuppered his chances because vanki had 6 of 182 but hasn't been able to put a massive hole into it what he would give for another one of them and now this game could take a different complexion Duff's left himself on tops after 12 this is for the batch and for six points in the group which will put him into second place temporarily Bulls covered but Jimmy this is to finish your day are you saving your best D for last miracle incredible an incredible from Jimmy vanki a 132 for Jimmy van to get over the line against Neil Duff by four legs to nil and it means that Jimmy van has gone to the top of the group we said it was a day that for large Parts was going and transpiring against him but he has managed to claw three victories from five a 4-n success against Neil Duff a 132 to finish with the most incredible Dart of the ball you will see coming up after the break Conor Scott is up against Thomas Banks he [Music] [Music] he [Music] [Music] [Music] he [Music] [Music] he [Music] [Music] hi there welcome back to the Modo Super Series where we just have a couple of games to bring you on the opening day of the series 8 Champions week and this is what has happened so far in the last few fixtures we've see Neil Duff have the high and the low really a 4-1 win against Marvin Van velen who was unbeaten at that point and then a 4-nil defeat to Jimmy van ski a victory that sees Jimmy go to the top all the table he's on Six Points along with the man he's just beaten Neil Duff their bidding is done for the day van velen can still overtake them if he wins his final match Conor Scot and Tom Sykes also on four points but what a win that was for Jimmy vany in the previous game 4-0 over Neil Duff ended with that brilliant 132 checkout as well and we are going to get Jimmy's thoughts he is downstairs with Henry Deacon Jimmy you just had a look at the table up there and you said oh that's close it's been a tight and competitive day one but as things stand you're top of the table how would you overall assess it I think I played um one really good game against Connor and I was happy to get over the line in that game uh against Marvin yeah I missed a few opportunities and he went over the line but it was on a few points it was okay but I know I can do better against Neil it wasn't a great game but at the end I came over the line so I'm happy with that and with the the 132 on the end it was just yeah beautiful what could you see with that ball so for the 132 not a lot but yeah you just throw the do and hope it goes in and yeah I'm aiming for it so it went in you've mentioned some of your performances today do you feel like six points when you consider some of the games as a very good return for yourself I think so yeah I always I always say like if you start a match you should win it but with these opponents is never uh certain but um I want my games that started and I broke one so I'm happy with that yeah second Champions week appearance the fact that you've played here once before does that give you that extra bit of experience because you know what this is all about now it's a little bit different because last time I was here I started in group b so you have to be the engine running right away and I had a slow start back then and now it's like you can come into your game you know like it's 3 days of playing and then we decide which group you going to go to or you're going to be on Saturday so it's I prefer group a because I like to play a lot and yeah room to grow as the week goes along sorry room to grow as the week goes long ter the performances hopefully yeah yeah I think um normally um the last times I was here group a didn't have a really good start I was getting better along the week and I had my best performance on the Saturday so I hopefully make the Saturday again well well play today Jimmy we'll see you tomorrow good luck cheers buddy yeah hopefully performances is the only way that Jimmy ski grows this week but it's a fantastic start and he is at the top of the tower at the moment here coming next Connor Scot and Thomas Banks Banks looking to avoid a pointless opening day in this group Scot looking to really put himself in the picture having been the bookie's favorite to win the week before a d was thrown and Henry is heading back to comms where he will join Paul Nicholson thanks murf I think you make a great Point actually because if Jimmy draws anymore he's going to have to do his next interview sitting on the floor he's the only person I can remember who's had to do an interview downstairs while sitting down because he's so tall however he is at the top of the tree is the Dutch seoa make of that what you will because that is one of the tallest trees in the world first leg it's Connor to throw first game on and now we go to one of the more diminutive players but don't discount Scott at this stage stage if he gets another win he will join Jimmy vanki on six points and reduce Banks to zero points for the deer 58 I'm not seeing anything that can be described as Panic from Banks because he knows from his own experiences here at the live l in Portsmouth that if you are in group a you've got two chances to make the Saturday showcase 97 and if you were tuning in when Banks was here in week n 140 we didn't have a great group a he ended up going to group C and then ended up winning that group so he knows about pecking at the right time 96 however he does not want to lose another game today because walking away with zero points is the worst case scenario 36 Thomas 150 shots on try to leave double 15 again which is something he has left today already but he might be left on tops two 19s so it turns out Banks does get a chance to Brick require 40 double 10 well when tops hasn't been corresponding double 10 has and Banks has got the break he leads one n against Conor Scott and you get the s that possibly the whole of the practice room will be hoping for a win for that man on your screen there to restrict restrict the sniper to Just Four Points overnight there's one of two ways of looking at that 93 I think you're right I think the players in the practice room right now including the players that have completed their quarter 100 they'd rather Scott was stopped but do you really want to give the favorite for the title this week a bit more ammunition psychologically 134 do you want to give him four points ahead of tomorrow where he knows that he needs to chase that is something that I know he likes however I'm going to label another Point here if you restrict Kos Scot enough there's going to be players hoping that he's in group C so if they drop into Group B the rest of the field 40 then they don't have to deal with him in that particular group either again that's one way to look at it 60 if you want to win a title you got to go through everybody 47 that one's got me fascinated why did he go Bull with a second do 29 he left himself on 116 interesting he's a bit more creative than your usual doting cat but sometimes you got to go with a textbook and that's exactly what that is second cor two Bullseye finishes and three leg scene on the stage the the Bel all you need is Bull game on I don't need to do the rest well Conor Scott would play eight days a week if he could he is such a infectious lover of the sport he's got this maturity of a player that's got more experience than maybe he's had even though he's an experienced player but he has this infectious energy about the game that if you just stuck him in a room with a dartboard all day and that is it he would just throw that dartboard all day and not get bought I think you're right if he went on desert alen discs and he was asked what his luxury item would be with his eight songs his Bible and Shakespeare he would say I want a dart board and set a doarts in fact if they didn't allow him to have the board he'd say I'll have the set of dots and I'll throw a tree trunk that's how much he loves the sport [Music] 133 well Scott's beginning to make his move it was a sluggish first leg from the sniper but putting a 15 in the last is on for a potential 14 here if he can find double 16 game now really is beginning to find his Groove he moves two on to the good after going one down forair gets Thomas to throw first can you honestly think that scottt is going to be disappointed with six points overnight if that's the case I don't think he will be at all because he is very firmly in the re 140 and that's all you can really be after Monday 180 Banks has had moments but I think it's also fair to say that when you look at his games all told he was just a little bit further behind his opponent and he's seemingly here looking as if he's going to suffer the same fate in this contest he had the opportunity to set up for 22 but he's now allowed Scott six on 221 to move 31 to the good 91 he's just picking off the right trebles at the right times in this game I adore that treble 17 use with the last it sets up an easier checkout than a lot of others in this neighborhood and he's got double five 120 he gave that a good scare he may have to survive a scare but Banks is unable to find the treble 43 require 10 game it's 31 Scott is a 13 D he is in command of this game and any win here for the sniper will temporarily put him to the top of the group ahead Tom is ging his Marvin Vans and this was a man who few moments ago we were wondering whether he may well be having a group c campaign on Thursday and Friday 57 levels from Scott today have been very decent I know he started with a 4-3 loss 84 and then he followed it up with another 4-3 loss but that 102.8 three average in the loss to Jimmy Vani 100 that must have served as a warning to everybody else this performance is very close to 100 as well and his doubles my word have they been good the last couple of games he's only missed two dots at Double in the last two matches probably the one thing Thomas banks will look back on and think in terms of today is that it's been a little bit All or Nothing at points 100 Scott wanted more than that maybe he was put out of rhythm by dropping the dot on the floor 43 con has got with it 44 took Conor Scott a game or so to really get going but at points he is put in some super lost of an average 102 he's had another T plus average in there3 and he's going to come back for 64 4-1 win which you'll see him top the table at the end of the opening day potentially he'll put him there temporarily as double eight is found and Conor Scott has rediscovered his radar the sniper swoops to the top of the table temporarily following a slow start losing his first two games he's recovered by winning his last three and he is very much in the picture is the bookmaker favorite to go on and win this Champions week scottf Banks one courtesy of an average just under 97 four and five when it came to his doubles coming up after the break Marvin Van velon has the opportunity to be the outright leader of the group if he gets a better with tomes however a win for Sykes would ensure that the top five players in this group would end the opening day on six points [Music] [Music] [Music] come on [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] yeah yeah [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] and so the final game of the opening day of the motor Super Series 8 Champions week features the finalist from Series 6 in Tom syes and Marvin Van velon who could be the front runner in group a come the end of Monday's play if he wins this match that will be the case he'll be the only player on eight points but if Tom Sykes gets a victory then we will have five players tied for the top spot all on six as Henry and Paul Nicholson have been explaining yeah thank you very much Chris and so for the final time today we head down to the stage we head to the O and we see what final piece of daning drama is upon us Marvin vanon kickstarted the today with a 43 success against Conor Scott is he going to throw the last startart of Monday here at Champions week up against Tom syes who in terms of his power scoring his 180 hitting has been at times Relentless however if he loses this game he find himself Four Points a drift of his opponent here going into tomorrow's action not to go backwards at all but does that mean that the people in the practice room want Tom still Inn this game to keep things really interesting I'd have to say yes from my point of view iway I don't know about you well no player benefits from a win from Arvin van velon not even Thomas Banks because at least if the Gap is six yes Thomas has got a lot of work to do but it's still very much manageable because you still got 20 points left to play for but eight points is a big gap and then everybody's chasing a player tomorrow where people will feel like moving day Tuesday everybody can make their own move and maybe Tom sight is making his move in leg one against the darts another Maxi for him and that's 10 for the deer now 120 whenever you get double digits maximums for a day and you're averaging two per match if not more that is a brilliant sign 9 that's arguably being best department today but other things have just been a little bit scruffy 18 would have left the ball 93 soes does get the chance to break immediately some start against throw there's AC cross cannot fight Mar requ 68 as soon as that second D kicked over that 32 bed shrunk two fours 64 he pulled that one told me he knew it as soon as it left his fingers both players have Miss opportunity to win leg one and it's in the Leisure of Tom syes which is quite interesting when you consider that Marvin Van Von's had a knack to picking up legs like that the legs where one play is missed and then he goes on to hit but it pkes that takes advantage and moves one up 93 are you surprised as we come into the series 8 Champions week that we've only had one Dutch player make a Champions Final in Marino Michaels in Series 5 he lost 4-0 to Jim McAn who was on a rampage that night but it's a surprise enough to not have a Dutch winner so far but to only have one Dutch player in a final 85 that's surprising particularly when you consider the caliber of players we've had from Holland at a Champions week yeah had a classing a couple of times B's been here before while Molen Camp played in a Champions night so by virtue of that very small discussion Jimmy and Marvin 100 no pressure but your entire country wants you to succeed this week 98 and we do expect the Netherlands to succeed in this sport because they are a heavyweight Nation up there with England Scotland 85 150 Canada they've had a finalist with Jacob Taylor what are we going to get from Marvin next now that Tom's not going to take the 150 out you could even get another Canadian m in the final this week with Jim long you'll see him from Group C 1:00 Thursday great recovery game Marvin for the first time today is starting to show that quintessential gumption the L it's Marvin to throw first game on I think you understands just how important these two points are and how important is this fixture because the beautiful thing and we see it every week if you play the last game of the session you've got the first game of the session tomorrow against the same player as right now if he wins them both he'll have a fourpoint gap over everybody else crucially a six-point Gap over Tom S remember the last time he played at the Champions won the group A40 what I would give not to relive Series 6 Champions week but that group a that we had with Taylor and with Sykes it was ridiculous a group that good K KB and Andy Bolton were sent down to the basement of Group C van felon here his average in excess of a ton is look at at 81 for 2-1 lead and a potential 11 AR if this 18 goes first time 45 correct me if I'm wrong but he threw those D 18 shots very quickly and as he went on 100 require 36 in his winning week things did change all things changing here game sh the third the score line has changed Marvin and you got a little Glimpse there of a change that did happen when he was winning in week 10 get Tom to throw first game he has that definitive stopping point on Dart one that used to be the same for darts two and three but but when he hit that nine do leg in group b of week 10 there was a change as you can see on DTS two and three here he's what we call flowing no in point no stop it's just continuous movement he obviously thinks that this works better for him it's something that Gary Anderson's done incredibly well for more than 10 years aim art one continue with starts two and three and it just looks like in this leg he's controlling his Pace a bit better I think there's been a couple of games involving Tom sight today because of how quick he is his opponents have almost spit up CU they get caught up in that Race Against Time this is probably not the best moment to do this because Tom is going to be staring at the 19s first with his next visit but that's one thing that these players have in common 100 Dart one and they FLW with darts two and three what should he have done on Dart number two if you're watching this back Tom might want to do your revision on 299 you get the 57 you go 18s next if not ker Scott's done that bit of homework and you may be able to NAB his exam paper I think we all got it from yellow Classon [Music] 134 even himself on 32 to square up at 22 we reach a Crossroads moment in this contest van lead himself on a two D syes leaves himself on a double and if there is a Miss from the castle forer he could find himself a couple of legs behind but Dart two again on that segment to the board works for Tom Sykes and we are Level it to a piece Marvin to throw first game on you might be from Castleford you might call him a tiger he might be about n Stone wet through but Tom Sykes has got teeth when he stared at that 32 bed right there it was a Fred 140 it's not a physical sport but sometimes players need to feel that little bit of aggression to get the best out of themselves you say it's not a physical sport look at that triple 20 it's absolutely weeping after the puming it's had today 34 you're not wrong 59 he's going to have to concentrate his efforts potentially on the 18s and Marvin is still the favorite for this fifth leg 100 all he's doing at at the minute is very effective stuff it's all about the 1626 comes at one short leaving 176 so it's as you were we reach another M pass in this game 60 one slip up means things change in legs like this and the person who was slipped up is Marvin Marvin unless he finds something out of the top draw he's unable to capture the 160 and so Sykes 60 in front he then have the darts for the match he's going to get one Dart and that darts at tops and that's a dart that goes low and now he has to hope that van velon hasn't got something a little bit special in the locker well Marvin had this against Neil Duff and couldn't hit it after having a practice at this shot earlier can he put it right 60 not close 20 15 mm North with both dots no score oh my word it doesn't matter how long you look at it they're all missing but they've missed two of them have by very fine margins and now sites can't look he doesn't want to look he'll be scared to look because van feldon's move fre to up and how a again can swing on a couple of Misses should be thrown for this contest game on now he's throwing to save it this is why darts is such an emotional Journey 57 The Narrative changes within 20 seconds maybe even less than that you go from thinking double 10 for 32 and then all of a sudden you're disappointed in having to bounce back on the oy in real time you want to be a professional Dart player you've got to be able to handle those swings if you can't do that you will not succeed 140 and Van felon has taken the opportunity given to him by tomite and he has ran with it he now has six starts against the throw to seal a 42 win to put himself on eight points and to put himself in charge of group here at Champions but how crucial could that bounce out be he's left himself on a finish because of that one trible 19 but it should have been far more hand the 144 13 how ironic that Tom actually does find two 144 he's looking to finish his day in the same way that Jimmy Vani did oh what a shot from Marvin vanson Marvins Tom Sykes is left bereft at losing that one by four legs to two but the Dutch have had their say today Jimmy vanki ended with a 132 with an almost impossible Bullseye and Van velson has saved one of his best shots of the entire day for his last three dots a 93 average and a wonderful ending gives him the lead after day one in Champions week he will sit on eight points and Tom Sykes will have to settle for four as he stays in fifth [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so day one done at Champions week our eighth Champions week here at the modus Super Series Paul it didn't disappoint um probably one player though that is disappointed yeah I think Thomas is going to be really disappointed uh being at the foot of the table I think it'll be an interesting few hours for him to just decongest and think about what's gone on today what he's done wrong what he can improve and I think even Tom Sykes will be disappointed with with four points but still in the running it's early days for him but there are going to be a lot of other people in the table who are a lot better off yeah there we go we've got the negatives out of the way the positives coming next the biggest one of course is for Marvin Van velden who's won four out of his five matches is top of the table and is talking to Henry Marvin great first day four wins from five what would be your overall assessment yeah I'm happy that I get uh off the line 4 out five and uh I think it's pure uh match play and mentality that and I'm just walking in uh the beginning on the day just with a big smell and uh always uh also U ending wied MH in terms of the wids that you got today did it feel like different types of Victories had some good performances there and there was times you really had to dig in yeah but I know I know it's Jim week so it's it's going to be difficult to win games and if you uh take four five over the line just then you just got to be happy but uh I think tomorrow is going to be the same kind of G uh kind of game that uh I played today but then I have to play better on uh the the breaks on the on the games first time at a Champions Le what feels different this time maybe compared to a normal regulation week to be honest nothing but only the the it's it's to be honest a bit tense in the back room but for me it's like uh yeah to be hon I feel home when I go back back in the practice room and yeah just smiling just singing a bit and yeah just uh yeah prepare good and then yeah when when the game is on just uh yeah be ready would it be fair to say that you're the type of player that when it's a big match there's a lot at stake and you can really get your tee stuck into that's kind of Vi at your best that's when you enjoy it the most yeah I'm teased I I could play better but if I'm enjoying a game that that would be helpful also this could be two two type of games or I have to be very uh focused and very I knew that I have to play very good or I know that I have to be very happy and just yeah happy just enjoy the game and going into tomorrow how important is it to try and keep going on because as you know that group is full of big sharks in the tank yes to be honest it's still a Tuesday it's I get this get in this group a like it's it's a practice and if you win group a it's a big Advantage but if you uh tomorrow just win two games out of five then uh you have to play good on Wednesday Wednesday decision day is the day so and tomorrow uh yeah just dig on the first place that's a great start what I'm Marvin we'll see you tomorrow yes thank you yeah certainly is a great start for Marvin Van Fels and we'll talk about last match as well Paul that 144 absolutely sensational from the Dutchman yeah just a little bit I think if he's having a bit of dinner with Jimmy van ski later and digressing about what's happened today they're both going to be weighing up while who had the better finish at the end because there's no better feeling than finishing a daily campaign or indeed a tournament uh that you've won with something quite special and that 144 was brilliant to get the job done to make this message so bold ahead of his game with Tom Sykes in the first game tomorrow remember that 144 that I hit I'm going to do it again it's it's a great statement shot and Jimmy's got exactly the same when he plays Neil Duff tomorrow on the subject of finishing the end of that game between Scott and Sykes we saw the opposite problem there didn't we the opportunity was there for Tom but he couldn't get over the line yeah he's had a few nasty deflections today but that Dart of double 13 we've seen that maybe two or three times today where it just loses momentum in the air and it just flops so that DT cannot come back I know how hard Tom Works he will try to put it right over the next say 12 hours or so minimal practice I would say between now and tomorrow but maybe if you need 30 minutes just to refresh some good stuff that's probably the right thing to do but make sure that the rest is good and then come back tomorrow morning at around 7:45 and put it right and you mentioned it we have to show it again Jimmy vany with this incredible Bullseye finish for the one 32 and you can see how much it's blocked there probably it's the only he's the only man isn't he it's the only shot that Jimmy can see yeah that's fair because he's very tall and he can see over the top of the Barrel in the stem but the flight is out the way the flight is not a part of it if it was he would have hit it he didn't hit the left wing of the flight but he chose the right angle some people may have gone to the right hand side to try and follow the Phil Taylor famously absolutely that made the Phil Taylor bull harder what he's done is he's made it easier for himself by opening up the bed if he flicks the barrel it goes in he flicks the stem it goes in flicks the flight it doesn't yeah absolutely brilliant finish um it looks like it's going to be a brilliant finish to this group where you're not even halfway through yet but if you look at the table Marvin Van's on an eight points then three players on six Tom Sykes will still feel he's got that day in him maybe tomorrow to win four or five matches and he's back in it but Thomas Banks realistically is going to need to have two perfect days and then still is hoping for favors what advice would you give to him the 17-year-old he's had a real welcome to the big boys club at Champions week hasn't he yeah welcome to the best that we can offer and don't put too much pressure on yourself at worst he's going to group C which is something he's won prior to getting here so no big deal but go out there and cause chaos cause problems for everybody else and don't Focus too much on what's happening with you go out and revel in the fact that the other guys have now got the the pressure just finally I think you made a really fair point in comms earlier on when you said this is one of the most sort of even Champions weeks no real standout star attraction have you seen anything from anyone that catapults them to becoming that so far not yet we've seen flashes of Brilliance from Marvin from Jimmy from Sykes especially when he hits six maximums in a match which could have been more but the story's got a few dots after it so far after a couple of sentences so we're waiting to see if Tuesday can deliver a little bit more for the story but this week we don't have a bu Greaves here we don't have a Luke ller here we don't have a Raymond Smith yeah because he was the biggest story of Series 2 so when it comes down to series 8 it being all very very open is very good for tomorrow certainly is we will have you here tomorrow we hope to have you here tomorrow as well as the second day of Champions week gets underway could be a really significant day to see who is going to make it through to finals night from group a and the end of this week there will be another name on the Modo Super Series role of Honor it's the Barbarian con [Music] white Rond Smith going to get better than that too at dou [Applause] 14 let he is Jim Ma Q Motors Super Series champion Scott Taylor is Andreas J haris [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] he he [Music] [Music] [Music] he
