Dallas Cowboys cornerback donon bland is to undergo surgery for inh parent foot stress fracture while I don't have the exact location of a stress fracture two fractures in the foot come to mind that we think of doing surgery in our Elite athletes a little quicker number one that would be the fifth medat tle that is the bone on the outside of your foot stress fractures in these patients tend to be more common in patients who have high arches because they load the outside of their foot the second would be a navicular fracture and that's the boat bone of the foot both of these bones have a poor blood supply in the middle meaning that the blood comes in and then there's a watershed area where the blood vessles aren't hitting that makes them a little bit harder to heal when they get a fracture so in someone like myself or you who AR Elite athletes or professional athletes we can often undergo a period of nonweightbearing and not have surgery however in our Elite athletes it's a little risky to undergo that non-surgical treatment because they could not heal and then need surgery down the line This Will postpone the return to play even more so in these patients we might go ahead and proceed with surgery they'd be non-weightbearing for four to 6 weeks followed by rehab for at least six weeks probably longer to be honest and know the athlete and then they could get back to play without having that delayed waiting period to see if their fracture is healed so I wish him all the best and return to play soon
