as it'll be the LA Chargers taking on the Dallas Cowboys now the kicker that's Cameron Dicker set to get us started and we are underway from AT&T Stadium kavante Turpin now from his end zone and ultimately cannot get this out to the 25 yd line as he's dropped at the 23 time for Dak Prescott and the Dallas offense to go to work Prescott of course the former fourth round pick in 2016 out of Mississippi State it's been a lot of fun watching him advance in his career many people question his ability to throw the football coming out Mississippi State he's conclusively answered that question in addition a very strong Runner and an even better leader they start on the ground with Elliot and he's going to take this ahead for right around three yards but no more than that second down not a huge carry there on first down but not all of them will be but still all in all a positive play for the offense it's all about picking up at least a few to set up what you're going to do here on second down ball it to 26 second and seven [Applause] they go to Elliot again and he's brought down getting this one up to about the 35 give him 10 there good enough for a cowboy first down how best to describe that one I'd say right down Broadway on that run a straight ahead running I think that that might be something we see a lot of between the tackles today well he's enjoying things so far here this afternoon sees a crease and burst through it for a solid gain so after a good run by Zeke another first and 10 looking to throw Prescott a short one there taken in by Ferguson only able to gain a couple there and it'll be second down and let's face it you can put any Halloween costume on him you're not going to be able to disguise him because for a tight end of his size difficult to sneak him anywhere but that's when they tried to do lined up around his right tried to work his way back to his left but just a minimal gain as the defense was able to react quickly Prescott now on second down it's hauled in by Brandon Cooks and able to get this one across the 45 before he's brought down give him 10 there good enough for a cowboy first down well that certainly has to feel good and it's not all the time that the play caller should get all the credit sometimes I think in the Huddle the quarterback just says hey who's going to make a play for me I just need something right here and the end result there nice first down drive keeps moving and he's going to get across Midfield and into charger territory a good run there on first down and it'll leave him with a second and two well you often say that sort of opens the Playbook now second and short what do you think early shot here I like where you're going obviously we've been together for a while cuz you know me I want to take that shot early and loosen things up ball spotted at the 45 here's second and a couple from the shotgun now here's an inside g a gain of five good enough for the first down how about that there no frills no additives right nothing crazy just find a way to pick up the first down a nice run right there [Applause] a first down carry by alien and he's going to get a solid gain of nine before being brought down second and right at a yard someone's looking fresh and this old line is definitely licking their chops Everyone likes to run block if you're an offensive lineman nice early burst nice gain too from the 31 Here Comes second and a yard now it's a bootleg with Prescott he finds his man complete it's Ferguson and he's brought to the ground with another first down at the Chargers 18 that one goes for 13 yds and it moves the sticks a nice gain there to his trusty tight end and now it's got them thinking opening drive touchdown here as they get into the Red Zone and in most cases with your tight end you feel like you've got a mismatch no matter who's covering him is it a small cornerback is it a linebacker who may not run as well in any event whatever you see you think that tight end can win that battle Prescott a throw on the run but that's going to be incomplete I think he's got to be careful not to force anything into coverage right there there weren't really any throwing Lanes but the best part for him he's got second and third down to fall back [Applause] on second second and [Applause] 10 now Prescott he's got it complete to tobert that'll leave him with a third and two coming up they got eight yards there and I think this is a route we'll see more of as this game goes on because with his speed they want to get him the ball in space on drag routes just like this they want him to get the ball and run after the catch good job there though holding him for a short gain it's been a pretty long opening drive this will be play number 11 coming up on third down flush to his right and he is into the end zone for a cowboy touchdown Dak Prescott a nyd touchdown run and the Cowboys are on the board first here this afternoon that's a really good decision right there outside of the pocket you've got to know the right time to ship from passer to Runner he was looking and looking nothing there you can almost feel the brain waves firing as he calculates I think I can win a race to the pylon and he turns out to be right touchdown Brandon Aubrey now for the extra [Applause] point and this is is up and good to make it seven nothing Cowboys so that one along 11pl drive and it was all capped off by Dak Prescott keeping it and taking it in on the touchdown run so after the touchdown Aubry now to kick this one away here's Darius Davis on the return and he's up across the 25 and down at the 28 so here's the charger offense making their way out and at quarterback from the University of Oregon it's Justin Herbert and he is just absolutely marvelous to watch throw a football that's something I could do all day long watch him throw routes versus air but he's even more impressive when they're bodies on the field and he's creating with big throws down field Herbert going to lead up the Chargers here first and 10 at their own 28 yd line the drive starts with a carry by Edwards and give him six yards here as he stopped near the 35 at the 34 Brandon to me what's important right here on this drive is for them to get at least two first downs they've got to give their defense a chance to settle down catch their breath a little bit after they give up a touchdown on the opening drive and from the 34 here's second and four here's the local Texas product JK dobins and he'll push ahead for about three to the 36 some of the most unselfish players on any football team defensive tackles because we ask them to just eat up blocks and allow other people to make tackles but when he can make a play himself as we just saw there that's a big day on third down here's Edwards and he'll be taken down but he does have first down yardage give him the third down conversion five yds on the play plenty of things to talk about here partner but to me their defense gave up a touchdown on the first drive how about how they're responding coming back that's a big big third down pickup to keep their Drive alive they'll go back to Edwards on first down and now we're going to get a stoppage a member of the Cowboys shaking up well now they're going to come out and take a look at this injury and we'll be back in a moment [Applause] ball on the 47 yd line here's second and four they'll try the air now with Herbert that is incomplete anytime a Ball's thrown in the middle of the field it's popped up in the air I expect someone to catch it doesn't matter whether it's offense or defense because there's usually a great amount of body IES in that part of the field in this case no one came up with it now they face a third down and four after that incompletion on second down a shotgun snap for Herbert that one complete he finds shark and I don't think he got there no she's short by maybe a foot maybe call it fourth and inches and now a decision here on the opening drive fourth and very short this part of the field what do you think they do CD I think you go for it I think there's a lot of game left to be played I like the advantage that they're trying to create here early I say be aggressive and try and get it done on fourth down JK Scott ready to putt it away kavante Turpin deep for the Cowboys and here's a very lowline Drive almost whiffed on it and this punt goes out of bounds and it'll be marked inside the 40 second Drive Forth coming here for the Dallas Cowboys this could end up being a pretty big Drive I mean look yes it's early in this game but they scored the touchdown they got the Stop and now if they could get in the end zone here again CD they could grab an early strangle hold on this one yeah they certainly can and that's what you're looking for where's the advantage can you gain it can you press it now for them finishing it off because right now it's out there for them they've just got to go seize it good starting position for the Cowboys here as they come up first and 10 at the 39 yd line from the shotgun it's Prescott Tolbert hauls in the out route so the completion results there in nine yards and that'll give him a short yardage situation here for second down we've seen quite a bit of the short passing game here early on first quarter haven't we we have and I think it works a couple of ways for for this team because number one you throw the short game until they stop it and if they're not going to stop it you keep throwing it and occasionally you'll break a tackle and turn into a bigger gain also if they start to creep up start to press your receivers now you go over the top take it deep and now you get some of those big shots down field and he's got this down to the 35 Lamb's First Catch of the game good for a first down I think when they look at their offense they think to themselves weapons weapons everywhere and they want to move the ball around they want to spread it to different people but you absolutely know they want to get this man involved as well and that's what they just did on that [Applause] play backto back good plays have them on the move on first down they'll try the right side with Elliot and the play goes nowhere losing yardage back near the 40 at the 39 give all that credit defensively to khil Mack a great stop in the back field sometimes you just sit back and Marvel at what he can do defensively speed strength quickness he's the whole package and that package just wrapped up the runner for a loss [Applause] so a step in the wrong direction now they'll look to make amends on second and 14 and he'll go down at the 28 they get 11 back on that one it leads to third down the RPO always puts the defense in a little bit of a predicament but when it's deakon Zach that probably makes makes it extra tough doesn't it predicament I like that word because when you look at it from the defenses perspective hard to commit either way right because if you do you're overc committing that's what they call a stressful situation many think that Dak should keep the ball more built so well so solid and running was a huge part of what he did at Mississippi State give him three yards and a fresh set of downs I haven't met a football team yet that runs the ball successfully that doesn't talk about having an attitude to be a running football team right you got to be able to put your nose in there smell where the first down sticks are and get [Applause] there first down Prescott on the out route it's Lamb with a grab and he is out of bounds looks like right at the 15 and that's good for a pickup of 10 yards and that'll leave him with a second and just a few inches left this drive it's been a good mix three passing plays three runs hitting on all three of those passes and the last one putting them in the red zone so wouldn't you think play action right here because you've got the ability and had the ability to run it and throw it go play action and take your shot at the end zone and lamb going to have a Cowboys first down as he's down to the 11 the gain of four that time as the drive continues this has to go down as one of the simpler routes in the Playbook but oh so effective nice completion there keeps the sticks moving now a first and 10 at the [Applause] 11 now Prescott they'll set up the screen to Elliot and here he'll get it down to the seven they'll get four there out of the screen and it's second down good reactions there defensively that screen was a little slow and developing and they shut that one down with little gain second and six with a ball on the [Applause] seven and again it's Prescott and this ball is caught by lamb Touchdown Dallas a seven ydd touchdown grab and the Cowboys lead this now 13 nothing here in the opening quarter of the ball game another impressive drive so they're two for two two touchdowns Charles a great start to this ball game for them and one of the words has really worked its way into our lexicon is stacking they've stacked momentum each time out not only on offense between those touchdowns defense held forced a punt to get the ball back and they've played awfully well in this one both sides playing an Optimum level Aubrey good with a Pat and it's now 14 to nothing a good drive that time as they go nine plays in all and it's finished off by the touchdown from CD lamb so after the touchdown Aubry now to kick this one away from a couple yards deep he'll bring it out of the end zone and this returns will net positive as he gets past the 25 and up to the 27 yd line the Chargers get set to go here for their second Drive they've been outplayed early no question down 14 nothing already as they come up first and 10 [Applause] Herbert now short throw underneath to Hurst and he's tackled a yard short of the marker good gain of nine on first down well it's time for them to be good teammates right here and what I mean by that is possess the ball for a little while get at least two first downs give their defense a chance to settle down a little bit after they give up a touchdown ball on the 30 six now here's second and a [Applause] yard a shotgun snap and a give to Dobbins and he'll get it out near the 40 to the 39 they'll get three as the drive continues it's a first down I know what you're thinking out there I know a lot of you are thinking take a shot downfield it's a great spot for it I'd say maybe later in the game definitely in the second half right now I think they were just trying to get some momentum built get a first down pick it up and keep moving Herbert on first down now he's got his big tight end that's Hurst that'll go for a gain of seven and it'll be second down completion was given up but that's why you play zone defense so you can have people around the ball when it's caught and you don't give up much run after the catch from the 46 here's second and three back to throw here Herbert that's into the hands of his tight end will dley and he's going to have another first down here as the tackle made at the Cowboys 44 yd line it's a 10yd pickup and it moves the chains you can almost hear the S relief coming coming from their sideline and from their point on the field because this has been a tough start for them thus far a much needed first down there they needed something good to happen plays like that will continue to help him dig out of this hole meanwhile Herbert's throw taken in by Char and past the 35 he'll be dropped a yard or two shy of the 30 back to- back nice plays 12 yds that time and a first down boy everything clicking on this drive he's four for four now and that throw Maybe the best of the bunch this offense is really huming and they pick up another first down Edwards now on First and 10 and a 5yd gain as he's down inside the 30 to the 28 yd line this is unbelievable yeah so they get that one Charles on the right tackle yeah often times at that spot you're trying to work against a Defender trying to at the edge in the running game and you're trying to drive around and get your body Twisted so that he can't get there sometimes your hands get too involved again Herbert and the timing a bit off that time as that one falls to the ground that certainly appeared to be a play call where they were just trying to make second down second and short I think they thought the coverage was off a little bit more than it was nice job there pressing up on it and forcing the incompletion so they'll come up after the incompletion for second down Justin Herbert looking to pass that's the tight end Hurst with it and he's got this down almost to the 20 before he's dropped third catch for him on this drive alone and it'll give him a first down and that's a more than acceptable read right there because it's Z coverage so timing is everything this time he waits for his man to come open puts it right on him and they pick up a first down they go with Edwards left side and he will lose yardage and be backed up to the 24 that's stopped for a loss made by Deone Clark from his linebacker spot part of the thinking when you bring an extra tight ends you're hoping that each of your guys gets those one-on-one blocks and creates a crease for your Runner know the converse is though you've got to win those one-on-one blocks and when you don't that's the result you end up with that loss of three a rare stumble on a promising Drive here's second and 13 Herbert he'll get this over the middle here to Palmer that's good the completion there for seven yards and it brings up third and five now 14 nothing the score this is the NFL on EA Sports Charger football to start quarter number two as they've got it with a third down coming up they'll need five on this play to move the sticks here's Herbert and that will be incomplete like what I see so far out of this defense because they've been showing their best coverages on third down so far only allowed one conversion on a handful of attempts one area of their game plan that they've executed to Perfection Cameron Dicker on now to try the field goal this will be a 34 yd [Applause] attempt and his kick is G good and they will get themselves on the board here at [Applause] 14-3 so not exactly the response they were hoping for but they'll take the three to at least get them on the score sheet yeah now is not the time to panic all is well somewhat calm only down 14 to nothing so continue to play your game take the points when they're there and put the emphasis on your defense to go out and get you the football back so after the touchdown here's Dicker out to kick this one off and they'll start this drive just across the 30 pretty nice work on the return it's over it's over now Dak Prescott and the offense heading back onto the field last series the ball never hit the ground six of six touchdown pass so whatever he did then do it again right yeah it reminds me a lot of when I watch the best quarterbacks throw seven on seven or even routes versus Air they're accurate the receivers catch it the ball never touches the ground or if you want to take it to basketball a well executed fast break right pass pass pass finish at The Rim basket yeah ball never hits the ground there [Applause] either and they'll will run the option to start the drive and they'll get it up just short of the 45 at the 44 right off the bat it's a first down to start the drive 12 yds I tell you there is no antidote for Speed even at the quarterback position as he keeps it himself and turns it into good yardage and it still takes time for a Defender to react even as quarterbacks carry the ball more and more in today's NFL they're still a little bit in disbelief and realize oh my goodness he's running with the ball he may be 8 10 12 yds down field at that [Applause] point Prescott looks to throw on first open man the tight end Luke scoon maker so the completion good for seven there and that will bring up second down nice Rhythm throw there on first down he located his tight end made it a nice easy pitch and catch hoping he can break a tackle or two wasn't able to do that there but still good yardage here's second and three [Applause] now Dak on the option left and nothing doing he's immediately taken down at the line of scrimmage call it no gain on the keeper and it's going to bring up a third down well for that being an option play there really weren't too many options available for him were there no there weren't and at least he was able to get back to the line of scrimmage so they didn't lose anything but you're exactly right nowhere to go third and short yardage Prescott he'll get this out wide here to Elliot and oh he's just going to be short here barely Maybe by a half a foot it'll be fourth and inches well it wasn't a big strike but that completion put them in really great range what do we have now fourth and inches yeah it's not more than a half a foot you know what I would do here you would always go for it I'm one of those guys [Applause] and the Cowboys going to bring on Brian anger to punt on fourth down back deep for La is Darius [Applause] Davis it's just a 30yd punt that time no return and the Chargers will be backed up deep to begin their drive as they take over first and 10 here's the Los Angeles offense as they get set to take possession and a methodical Drive last time but they couldn't get that knockout blow they had to settle for three but you got to like what they've been doing along the way right it's almost like the body blows the setup punch as you said they didn't get the knockout blow here but that doesn't mean it can't come later in the game on another possession and the defense on the other side maybe a little gas a little tired and if nothing else they just feel relieved getting off field only giving up three they don't exactly feel like they handled the offense so give him five yards there on the pitch and catch and that'll make it second down they kept the receiver in the short field but that let his quarterback get the ball quickly to him before either guy in double coverage could react second and five Palmer going to go in motion left he'll get an opportunity with it on the touch pass and the second wave of tacklers is going to get him as they stop him behind the line the defensive coordinators love that you got a cornerback willing to stick his nose in there come up on run support and stop that pop pass dead in its tracks and partner one good thing about trying to defend that play you should see it coming the whole way you see the receiver coming in Motion in your direction nice job alluding the blocker making the play behind the line of scrimmage but an even better job studying the play before you have to try and defend it in a game this offense on third down today just one for three thus far this will be third and six now it's Herbert short throw underneath to Hurst and able to get this across the 20 before going out of bounds it'll be a gain of five and that's going to bring up a fourth down I thought maybe when he caught he have a good chance of getting that first down but that's a nice job holding him up and preventing him from getting to the sticks here's JK Scott set to do the pting [Applause] honors now fair catch is called for and taken at the we'll call it the 30 7 yd line 37 yds on the punt with no return and the Cowboys will take over the football with a first and 10 Dallas offense set for this next Drive obviously not the intended goal last Drive they had to punt the football but still they've got the lead here and now a chance to add on to that lead if they can get points on this drive first and 10 up coming so Prescott of the Cowboys now with with a first and 10 at their own 37 they'll try and start this drive in the air fires a slant complete it's Tober and he'll go down but not before getting this inside the 30 big yardage after the catch that one winds up going for 36 this offense is looking very comfortable here in this first half very relaxed very smooth very efficient no wasted motions things are definitely going their way and they continue to move the ball down [Applause] field so now then the big play has him all the way inside the 30 now first and 10 here's Prescott able to hit his Target lamb and that's good for a gain of six and it's second down one things you're hoping for when you're run drag routes you're able to hit a receiver in stride and he can pick up a lot of yardage after the catch but in this situation the defense was effective able to stop him before he could get a good head of steam going so second and four from the [Applause] 22 Prescott now this throw incomplete nearly picked off and with his pedigree he doesn't drop many of those but third down coming up I see the surprise in your face there partner that is a rare incompletion from him he's been on point this entire game he has percentage completion Wise Way up not that time in need of a conversion on third down they had the big play to start the drive not much since he's got his Target that's complete and he'll be taken down but he does have first down yardage able to get what they need to keep the drive drive going with a 6yd pickup on third down and that one was a lot of fun right there cuz that was the game within the game third and short Blitz was on what's the key for the quarterback get out of your hands in a hurry and that was a quick little completion got the job done for a first [Applause] down so the ball down to the 16 here for first and [Applause] 10 from the red zone now Prescott got his tight end that's complete that's Ferguson and this will leave him a yard short nice pickup of nine yds on first down now that's staying ahead of the chains really good pickup on first down hitting the tight end there now brings up a second and manageable just found a hole in that zone here's second and one now from the [Applause] seven up the middle here's Elliot and the stop will come inside the five at the four four yds on the play that's going to lead to first and goal it's nice every now and then in this game not to see people overthink it just hand it to the Old Reliable guy let him pick up the first [Applause] down and they'll turn to the power game to try to get in and they'll get him down just shy of the goal line at about the one it's a gain of a couple and it'll be second and goal now that's the defense that they were looking for being able to get extra bodies to the point of attack to deal with the big guy carrying the ball you really don't want to be in a position where it's a one-on-one tackle with him second and goal from the [Music] one they'll let the fullback try and take him home and he will take it in for a Cowboy score taking it in from a yard out and the Cowboys are able to widen their advantage well if at first you don't succeed try again they go to the big man second time he gets it done almost as if they were feeling like he was establishing a rhythm give it to him again and again and how about the end result finishes it off in the end zone touchdown great run and the score Aubrey now for the pat and it's 21 to3 so that drive goes eight plays and it ends with a one yd touchdown run so after the touchdown Aubry now to kick this one away and Davis cont just to bring this out to the 25 yd line the Chargers getting set to go it's been very much a slow start for them three drives and just the three points CD yeah if you're into the points per Drive ratio that answer is one and that's not going to get it done in a ball game they've got to find a way to finish these drives in end zones not having balls go through goal posts Herbert in the Char Chargers now with a first and 10 at their 25 yd line they'll come out throwing here to start the drive throwing into traffic there and that's complete and he's taken down but able to slip across the 35 nice way to start the drive a gain of 12 and a first down it's been a very one-sided game so far they got to change what they're doing right now don't they you can't wait till the halime speech to make an adjustment no you can't because if you're doing it right you're adjusting from series to series and they need a big adjustment here to try and put some points on the board playaction it's Herbert now he's forced out left and a 5yd gain gets him to the 42 they made a nice effort to stick in with a loss for that play but it's going to take more than that to keep him from advancing the ball should be an entertaining battle anytime he tucks and runs over the second half of this contest here's a second and five five back to throw Herbert oh and the throw led him too much that time it's incomplete I know coaches tell us all the time that having a powerful arm isn't the number one thing they look for in a quarterback but when you're trying to throw inside routes and you need to put some heat on it it helps have the big gun in this case just a little bit too much this offense so far on third down they've only converted once in four tries this will be third and five they'll try the draw here with Dobbins and they'll bring him down one yd shy after a pick up of four another down on the scoreboard but the urge to go for it is almost irresistible here on Fourth and short yeah I know I know they're on their own side of the field I was going to say normally I would say punt the ball away but I'm feeling it I say go for it here's JK Scott now as he's on to punt for [Applause] La he's been a busy man here in this first half as he gets it away this is taken around the [Music] 12 found good room to run there returns at 14 yds and they will take over first and 10 and now Dallas gets set to take the field a long drive last time out for this offense Charles if you remember they started basically in the shadows of their own End Zone marched it down the field and a lot of that was through the passing game and partner as a former defensive back I'm having almost a physical reaction watching what's happening right now but let's give credit words do because they've done an excellent job moving the ball through the air secondary getting picked apart pass by pass obviously they need to make some adjustments there on the back end yeah because offensively we know that they're not going to be shy about throwing that football he'll find lamb that's complete and they work this well up field across the 45 great way to start the drive 20 big ones in a first down and defensively they were in zone coverage there do you have to be a little careful you're losing playing against a good quarterback like he is to not play too much Zone yeah you have to be careful about how much time you're giving up I think it's a good point you just brought up so maybe if you still want to play zone you go to a Zone Blitz scheme and you can drop anyone out of your defensive front defensive end defensive tackle it doesn't matter you just exchange someone to bring more pressure towards the quarterback and still try and cover downfield on First and 10 Prescott and he'll go right back to lamb and they'll get to him after a gain of seven to the 47 Nothing Fancy on first down but a very consistent type of a play hit that slant a lot of people call it an extension of the running game and it can be if that pass is completed cuz you hit a guy on the run like that he often can go for big yardage sets him up nicely for second down staying ahead of schedule and his throw is going to be incomplete I like the calmness of how he played the ball here no Panic in his eyes as that throw arrived tracked it from the moment it left the quarterback's hand and that's just where he needed to be to knock it away so the incomplete pass on the last play and that leads us to third and three Prescott yet again oh they would have gotten the conversion if he could hold on instead the drop means it'll be fourth down right up to that point I was about to say he's had a pretty good half catching the football but let's just be honest about it he should have caught that one and he knows that that was one right in his bread basket and one he normally catches on fourth down here's Brian anger now to kick this one away and this one will not be returnable as it sails out of bounds the LA offense ready for this next possession and this let's face it an important drive if they're going to get back into this ball game think about going into the locker room down 21-1 as opposed to 21 to three 21-1 a little more optimism Little More Bounce Around The Locker Room a little more discussion about how they're going to finish this thing off 21 to3 I think discouragement clouds that locker room yeah and I think a touchdown much bigger than a field goal on this drive just to get into the end zone and get that moment on First and 10 Herbert short throw underneath to Hurst give him a gain of five on the completion and that'll bring up second down I know sometimes we can get fooled when we watch him make catches as we just saw him do there because he really looks like a wide receiver the way he goes about his business yeah 230 240 range yeah not not super huge maybe not counted on to be that inline point of attack blocker that we used to have in the good old days but you can Flex him out you can run wide receiver routes with him you can make him a primary target and that's how he'll shred a defense that's an excellent play by the defender he diagnose that one close quickly and help Force the incompletion an incomplete pass on that last play and that means they'll need to come up with something here on third down Dobbins running out of the gun and it's not going to be enough here a gain of four about two feet short of the marker fourth down when a good play is made on defense often times Leverage is the key to everything defensive line not getting turned all the other guys making sure they're in the right spot and on that play they were able to stop him short of a first down here's JK Scott now as he'll putt it away for the fourth time today that'll be a 43 yd punt just a single yard on the return and it will be first and 10 as they take over the offense for the Cowboys now working their way back onto the field no point last time out they were forced to punt if you remember but no time to dwell on that they've still got the lead here and a chance to add to that here first and 10 as this new Drive starts so Prescott of the Cowboys now with a first and 10 at their own 17 yd line from the gun he'll set up to throw a short one there taken in by Ferguson the result only four yards there on the play and it'll be second down got to give credit where it's due really nice defense on that play the pitch and catch was successful but not any run after it from the 22 now here's second and six inside G to Elliot and this one will go to the 28 yd line six yds the pickup and that's a first down well you know they had a third down play on standby just in case but he says no need with that carry runs like that will'll continually earn him more work in this and future [Applause] contest a first down throw for Prescott looking left side and he's got a in that's Ferguson and they're able to get this one across the 35 give him 10 there good enough for a cowboy first down and what a nice example there of a tight end doing exactly what he needs to do how about how he worked his way to the outside made sure he secured the catch and then anything after that we count that as a bonus and indeed he gets enough for the first down so here's a first and 10 at the 38 a give to Elliot he gets away from one and he'll go down right around the 47 this time 49 yds rushing for him now to this point now that was an excellent run and when you see that happen that's when you're seeing guys doing their job and then some people doing a little bit more offensive lineman and tight ends they're expected to block but the wide receivers all they want to do is catch passes so when they block on a big time running play and create extra space you've kind of hit the jackpot there Elliott going to get it again on second down and this time not as successful as he'll get back to the line of scrimmage and no more officially it's no gain on the play and they'll remain a few inches shy of a first with third down looming two minutes remaining in this first half of [Applause] football an extra cornerback now in the game for the Chargers here on [Applause] third Prescott from the gun pass to the sideline and pulled in and he's able to take it across Midfield before going out of bounds a pick up of five that time and a first down that's a big conversion there on third down because they did not want to give the ball up here late in the half they'd love to take the clock all the way down and score this will definitely help the cause let get that ball get that ball Prescott off playaction and the Chargers Rush is going to get there down he goes khil Mack able to take him down it's a loss of three and of course that's not an easy man to sack you know how elusive he can be try to get outside of the pocket that was a great play on the defensive side and I wonder what was going through his mind because he didn't seem as committed to using his legs to pick up yardage he wanted to keep that play alive so either take off and go or throw it away but he held on to the football and end up getting sacked so maybe just a momentary setback on what's been a great drive so far but second and 13 here draw play Elliot and nowhere really to go there he'll take this up just shy of Midfield a minimal gain there on the eighth play of the drive that run wasn't a big breaker but I don't think the guys on off defense mind very much they've got a nice drive going and they might just be luring the defense in a little bit they could probably come back with a play action maybe go over the top but right now on this drive their playbook is open Prescott throwing right and that's complete and he gets this inside the 35 yd line now the Cowboys going to burn the first of their timeouts as the stoppage will come with a little under a minute to go in this first half [Applause] from the 34 now here's first and 10 throwing Prescott that one complete aliot and he's going to get seven out of this before being taken down at the 27 the Cowboys going to use their second timeout now as they get the stoppage with a little over seconds to go in the first half now second and three Prescott a short one there taken in by Ferguson it'll be a pick up of four good enough to earn him yet another first down and the tight end is certainly a position built to move the chains because they can control space underneath if they've got good hands then of course they're a dynamic Target but one other thing is they're right in the sight lines of a quarterback on just about every play and that makes it easier for the quarterback to pick him out and [Applause] deliver to the air again Prescott throw left side complete that's Elliot call it a gain of three on the play and that's going to bring up second down that's a good job there by the corner we do talk about this a lot that a lot of Corners see their job is simply covering receivers tackling isn't everyone's thing but in this case he came up quickly and made a nice sure [Applause] tackle so on fourth down Prescott off and on is Aubrey for the cowboy field goal from the left hash this from 37 and this one is right through and the lead up to three touchdowns now it's 24 to3 so everything else has gone right in this first half kind of follows that it would for their kicker twoo as he adds three more onto the lead yeah and the way that this one's gone definitely not looking like he's going to have to worry too much about pressure kicks late in the game he can go out there free and easy just work on his form and he knocked that one through so not much time to speak of remaining of this first half as the kicks away and not wanting to risk anything here late in the half he'll just take a knee and they'll bring the football out to the 25 the charger Drive about to get going and with time quickly fading here in the second quarter not sure how aggressively offensively they want to play this I think we'll find out just how much they trust their guys in this situation if they decide to take a shot now a timeout taken perhaps a chance for one more quick play and then another timeout if they hurry we'll see one play has him up past the 40 already and another first and 10 here's Herbert that'll be complete to Dobbins and he'll work it across Midfield inside the 45 and with just 1 second remaining in the first half they'll call the [Music] [Applause] timeout so with 1 second left in the half on is the field goal unit and this will be spotted on the other side of the field it's a 61 yd attempt and this won't get there we'll be on line either it's no good off to the right so that would have been something from that distance but to no avail comes up empty as we on the ground to help push his guys into the lead at the break all right coach thank you and we welcome everyone back for quarter number three [Applause] [Applause] the Chargers going to get the football first here in this second half and they Trail as we get back underway and Dave is content just to bring this out to the 25 yd line the Chargers getting ready to go here to start this third quarter they look up at the scoreboard facing that deficit a three-score game Charles but look there's plenty of time to go here the old football cliche that comes to my mind is you can't get it all back at once they probably need something though out of this drive at least three points are you trying to say that there's no three-score drive on that play sheet for any of those coordinators they just don't have it right you're trying to get it all back you know you can't get it back in one drive but maybe cut into it a little bit as you just suggested try and create a little bit of momentum a little bit of a spark and then maybe that'll carry over and this will be a gain of five as he gets it to the 30 oh that was a thing of beauty right there look at how quick those blockers fired off the line once the ball was snapped that was an o line on a mission all in sync and the defense is lucky that play only picked up five yards ball on the 30 they'll come up with a second and five now Herbert with it looking to pass it's taken in by Quinton Johnston he was held without a catch in the first half but he's got one here and he also picks up a first down you can see the time and effort and thought that they' put into their passing game because it was evident right there it looks like a simple pitch and catch but you and I both know that they have planned for this and worked hard to make it happen line of scrimmage the 37 on on First and [Applause] 10 out of the gun Herbert oh a leap and he will make the catch a very nice pick up of 33 yards and there's not a quarterback in the league that will ever complain about having small receivers like a Tyreek Hill or a Cooper Cup who can find a seam have good vision and get open but when you're throwing downfield like this you want a big tall receiver who can go Above the Rim or if you're a volleyball fan above the net and get [Applause] it so the big play has him all the way down to the 30 now for first and 10 looking to throw Herbert and he's able to get it to the edge of the red zone at the 20 yd line he'll get 10 there all on his own but it'll be second down oh partner just a second earlier and they might have had him because they certainly thought they were going to close in and drop him behind the line of scrimmage but he had just enough time to dodge the pressure and he ends up getting yardage before being stopped Justin Herbert looking to throw on second down and that almost their first int of the ball game game had his sights on it but he couldn't seal the deal another attempt another incompletion and when I look at the scoreboard and where we are in this game it comes to mind that they have to start getting the ball in the hands of their Playmakers throw it to the guys that maybe can take a short pass and turn into a long gain or make people Miss down field they've got to have points and the guys who can put the ball in the end zone they're the ones that need to touch the ball and he is going to have the Chargers first down as they're able to get the third down conversion despite the score despite the deficit no quitting this guy he's running angry running through arm tackles he wants to change what that scoreboard is [Applause] saying still in search of their first touchdown of the game but they're on the Move first and 10 up the middle it's Edwards and he'll take this one inside the 10 down to the eight give him three on first down it'll set up a second and seven not too many offenses want to turn down long drives but when you're down what they are they've got to pay it off with some points the ball B on the eight still could get a first down technically second and [Applause] seven back to throw Herbert setting up the screen here to Edwards and they'll be driven back here losing yardage to the 10 yd line it'll be a loss of two maybe three on the play and that brings up third and a full 10 yards well looked like the defense they were ready for that one really left him almost no room to work after catching the ball he could throw every move in the book at him they were there and they tackle him for a loss it's been a pretty long drive this will be play number nine and they need 10 yds out of it on third operating from the gun Herbert to the end zone but it's incomplete another good drive Charles but it looks like another that might end in a field goal try they've made some nice plays they've given themselves opportunities but as you noted another field goal attempt coming up and that's not how they want to end drives they've got to figure out what's the final touch that they need to push it across the goal line yeah still yet to find the end zone and his kick here is good and the deficit drops now from 21 down to [Applause] 18 so a good drive there to begin quarter number three but they're only able to shave three points off the lead well something's better than nothing all right they didn't play particularly well in the first half but they definitely need him to step on the accelerator now and play a whole lot better now after the Dicker field goal he's back out ready to send it away and here comes a return from just beyond the goal line and ultimately cannot get this out to the 25 yd line as he's dropped at the 23 the Cowboys offense now they head out for their first possession of the second half [Applause] so Prescott of the Cowboys now with a first and 10 at their own 23 from the shotgun he'll look to throw and that's Elliot complete and this will go as a gain of seven as he gets it to the 30yd line just about every quarterback is trained to really look down field first before you come back and make a nice safe throw and in this case that's exactly what he did found his running back let him create some space and it turned out to be a nice play for the offense ball on the 30 now here's second and three the give is to Elliot and he'll get it up to the 33 yd line four yds the pickup first down look I realize on any play call when it's properly executed and go for a touchdown but the runs that really make it work are the on where you just get what you need right and he barely got the first down but he got [Applause] it so they'll come up first and 10 now from the 33 they keep on the ground with Elliot and able to break one tackle but then quickly brought down but a nice little gain 60 yds rushing for him now in the ball game consecutive positive runs for him on the last two snaps he certainly appears to be trying to put the offense on his back and just move them down the field when his number is called the way he's running it I'd keep going back to [Applause] him this second and [Applause] four looking to throw Prescott Crossing route complete catch made by cooks and he's brought to the ground with another first down at the Chargers 42 give him 18 on the play I tell you what a lot of those mid-range throws have been available because sometimes teams get too concerned about the Deep ball they leave too much space in front of them and these guys have been taken advantage so far so from charger territory now here's a first first and 10 at the 42 yd line now Elliot and he'll get it down on the play to the 37 give him five on the carry there and it'll be second down Brandon five yards on that run let's get back to the Huddle and make sure if you're a back you spend time with your offensive line and give them credit hard to move those 300 plus Pounders at the line of scrimmage and they did for a significant chunk of yardage [Applause] Prescott now on second down a short one there taken in by Ferguson seven catches for him now and this last one a first down I got kick out of that one partner you and I talk often about trying to hide receivers in certain situations but a guy of his size can't really hide him but the tight end drag route definitely an effective way to sneak him across the formation for an easy completion and a first down I got you I got I got you I got you you're Prescott on first down he's going to go up top for the end zone and it'll be incomplete good job staying with him defensively and it'll bring up second down I remember a coach tell me a long time ago the difference between playing corner and safety in the NFL corner is like the Auto Bond everybody just flying by and these Corners have been really busy in this game although they got it done on the last play on the last play yes but there been some good numbers put up against them offensively Prescott's throw pulled in by lamb and out of bounds right around the 20 nine yds not quite enough and they'll be and now some disagreement down on that sideline the red flag is out and we're going to get a [Applause] challenge did he keep those feet in bounds that's the question they've got to decide and I got to say watching it in real time it was awfully close yeah it certainly looked like a heck of a catch because he didn't appear to Bobble it which could complicate things but even with the benefit of Replay that's pretty tight now here's the call so the challenge there does not go their way this will indeed remain a completed pass ninth play coming up here on this drive this is third and a yard they'll try and run for it with Elliot and he's going to have a first down here as he gets this one to the 17 yd line a third down gain of three yards and that'll be enough that was a tremendous group effort there because when you talk about offensive lines the best ones talk about guys that play in Harmony in sync and getting things done and they did that on that play yeah especially on Third and one got to be in sync and they [Applause] were so from the 17 now here's a first and 10 off the play fake Prescott and the throw left sideline here is caught but they'll rule it incomplete couldn't keep his feet in second down well there's times when you see these catches that are made and we just know the guys playing it are really wishing for college roles only need that one foot down instead of two it's awfully difficult on the sideline isn't it here's second and 10 [Applause] Prescott to throw it and that'll be incomplete took a pretty good shot as he tried to pull that one in couldn't hang on third down that's a big Force incompletion there to bring up third and long and this defense can still salvage a little momentum by forcing them to kick a field goal because just a few plays ago they looked like they were headed towards the end [Applause] zone on third down it's Prescott he finds his man complete it's Ferguson and he'll be brought down shy of the first down marker at the 11 so the completion good for six yards and it'll be fourth down whether you're playing West Coast offense or not one of the maxims of the West Coast offense is you're either throwing a touchdown or a check down in other words look for the big shot but be smart I think they did exactly that on that play they didn't get to first down but they're taking care of the ball well yeah and being rightly cautious with that lead here in the second [Applause] half and his kick is indeed good and that will extend their lead even further now three more points tacked on of this margin getting more comfortable by the minute and with the lead where it is you can actually feel good about field goal we talk all the time about scoring sixes not threes but in this case they're just looking to chew up some time and Come Away with points so after the M field goal back out as Aubrey to kick this away and Davis content just to bring this out to the 25 yd line the offense for l Angeles returns to the field I kind of feel like they've reached a Do or Die point in this game Charles if they're going to try to pull off an impressive comeback it has to start right here right now yeah now they've got a final chance to get out of this situation but they also understand they've got to move the ball and move it fast in addition they need to save as much time so they can get two more possessions Herbert going to lead up the Chargers here first and 10 at their own 25 yd line he'll set up to throw from the gun short throw underneath to Hurst he'll be dropped after a gain of about six across the 30 to the 31 not a big window to throw coverage wasn't too bad there yeah they had him under wraps pretty well but somehow able to muscle his way open and catch the ball they'll come up now second and four from the 31 up the middle here's Edwards and he'll be up ended at the 33 following a gain of three and guess what it brings up third down just not a whole lot of room to operate there on that carry no not at all they did a really nice job staying in their proper places and not allowing any lanes to open up these guys have punted four times already and they're staring at a fifth barring a conversion here on third down they'll try to run for it with Dobbins and he's going to have the first down at about the 38 just four yds on the pickup but that's good enough to extend the drive I don't know about you but that almost felt like oldtime football there third and two is not necessarily just a running down anymore a lot of times they want to throw the ball they went back to the roots and powered forward and got the first down [Applause] [Applause] so here's a first and 10 at the [Applause] 38 back to throw here Herbert he's got his big tight end that's Hurst and this will be stopped at the 44 that one good for seven yards that tight end position it just seems to continue to evolve every year in the NFL yeah you're getting really terrific athletes a lot of them maybe were wide receivers at one point they continue to give you speed great hands and big bodies which make them excellent targets for quarterbacks Herbert now and he drops it incomplete and their struggles continue here as this old brain remembers when I see five wide receivers on the field as a Defender I know the ball's coming out hot they expected it and got there and popped it free this offense in desperate need of a conversion as they come up on third down they go back to the ground with Dobbins and he's got a first down as he's up to the 48 it's a gain of four there and it gives him a new set of downs a lot depend on the spot there and he got it but it wasn't by much was it I remember coach Madden talking about depending on which foot the official used that would tell you whether you had the first down or not you want that upfield foot to be the one that spots the ball don't you and you and I have the luxury of a couple extra viws here in the booth and he did get it but not by [Applause] much two first downs have them up near Midfield now on First and 10 Justin Herbert looking to pass oh he dro dropped it and that's pretty indicative of the way this one's gone we saw this a lot in the first half and it continues these receivers just not able to get much separation so that means they have to win the 50/50 balls they've got to go up with the defender and find a way to start coming down with them and this time contact and another incomplete pass on second down a run with Dobbins and he's fortunate to get anything from that give him a yard to the 49 early down stuffs will put this offense in a precarious position we know they're securing the point of attack especially against the big bodied guys in the middle of this day has got to be Priority One play number nine on the drive coming up and they need nine yds on third down Herbert shark's got it left side and he's going to come up a few yards short brought down at the 4 they'll wind up getting seven on the play and that'll bring up fourth down I thought they might take a shot down the field but instead they ran a little drag route there I think they were hoping he could catch it and run away from the defender but a really good job keeping the play in front of them and they force a fourth down here's JK Scott now as he's on for the fifth time here today oh it's a wobbler here so out of bounds on the punt and the spot will be the side judge says right at yeah right at the 35 yd line here the Dallas offense back out onto the field and last time they got three points but it was a chip shot field goal and when you go to the sideline after a chip shot field goal maybe the offense not too happy it's a balancing act isn't it because you're exactly right they're none too pleased that they didn't punch it in for six points but they also have to remember they did put points on the board three points is three points and in this league you take points when you can get them not easily done so Prescott and the Cowboys now with a first and 10 at their 35 yd line Chargers able to get the pressure and bring him down khil Mack able to get in there for his second sack of the afternoon one of the League's best linebackers he ended that play almost before it began and the running back absolutely overmatched no matter what he tried to do after the sack here's second and 11 here's Prescott over the middle complete that's Ferguson was not quible about the gain there on second down that was a positive play because that was a take what you can guess situation got out to the tight end now it gives him a much better opportunity to convert on third down third and [Applause] three they go back to aliot he's been busy and he'll be tackled about two yard shy of the line to gain a one yd pickup leads to fourth down well done to sniff that out defensively he had it diagnosed pretty quickly I love that description because diagnosed is perfect on that one read his keys made the play and he couldn't even get going moving the football here's Brian anger now as he's on to punt for Dallas calls for the fair catch makes the fair catch just inside the 15 yd line it'll be a 39 yd punt no return and the offense will come back out deep in their own territory here comes the Chargers offense now back out onto the field see if they can put this Drive In The End Zone Charles because it it's been a little bit of a rough go at times they've had to punt the football a ton in this ball game because of stalled out d drives so are you saying that you're kind of tired of seeing the punter run out there and do his thing during this game is that what you're trying to say well I mean I'm okay with it I have a feeling that this offense they don't want to see the punter again and frankly the punter doesn't want to run out there anymore himself he would love to see his offense put together a drive and give his leg a rest and not much to speak of call it a one yd gain up to the 15 defenses always talk about earning the right to rush the passer on third down and you know it often want win first down so that can set things up for themselves better and that wasn't helpful there not a big impact on first [Applause] down a shotgun snap and a give to Dobbins and that didn't fool anybody he's going to be dropped in the back field it's a loss of a yard so it's back to Third and 10 if these guys going to chop into that deficit they have to do a much better job in the Run game caught behind the line of scrimmage no yardage be found this offense in desperate need of a conversion as they come up on third down here's Herbert and oh that's going to wind up incomplete nearly their first pick of the game but it does bring up fourth down looks like another empty possession offensively and you're at that point of the game where you can't afford too many more of these so this is going to require some heavy thinking on the sideline to figure out what they can do to crack this defense here's JK Scott now as they're forced to kick for the sixth time today and now a low liner I think he miss hit it and he's got this down a yard or two shy of the 40 before he's out of bounds officially just 27 yds there on the punt and the Cowboys are going to take over in great position here with a first and 10 Dallas offense set for this next drive and now you've got the clock winding down here in the third quarter your three scores to the good what's your approach on this drive too early to fully commit to playing the clock game yet at the same time you're also not going pel Mel like you would in two-minute offense this is what NFL offens has called four-minute football take the clock out of the game a little bit wind it down but at the same time keep advancing the ball down the field Prescott he's got it complete to tobert and all the way inside the 15 before they drop it that'll wind up a gain of 27 on the catch and run [Applause] and as they come to the line they will not be able to get off another play as time has run out on this third quarter this is the National Football League on EA [Applause] Sports here's a first and 10 at the 18 yd [Applause] line now Prescott right back to tobert it'll go as a gain of four and it's second down [Applause] from the shotgun it's Prescott and this is caught for a cowboy touchdown Jake Ferguson from 10 yds out and the Cowboys up the lead to four scores now here in this fourth quarter and a decisive Advantage became even more decisive they already had the win win in hand but they keep pressing the tempo and they pile on with another touchdown reception would you consider that touchdown a reward to all the tight ends on their roster for their effort today not just running their routes but all the time they spent in the trenches laying down blocks doing the little things to help that offense succeed and for doing all of that they definitely want one of their tight ends to get a touchdown to really seal this blowout the extra point Up and Good by Aubrey and that'll increase their lead to 28 [Applause] so after the touchdown Aubrey now to kick this one away from a yard or two deep here comes a return and only able to get this to the 19 so probably should have opted for the Touchback and now out on the field Here Comes Los Angeles we said it at halftime that they would need a nearly perfect second half to erase that deficit that they were facing CD but unfortunately the second half has pretty much been a carbon copy of the first yeah that early lead was almost insurmountable the way their opponent was playing and partner they do have some good news though this one is getting close to being over and they can try and hit the reset button starting tomorrow Herbert in the Chargers now with a first and 10 at their own 19 yd line they'll try and start this drive in the air he'll swing this out to dobins and he almost gets this to the 30 taken down about a yard shy give him 10 yds there and about by the nose of the football he's going to have a first down and with this game well in hand perhaps we are seeing the coverage lighten up a little bit as they got burned there a bit for a first down well we certainly know the coach isn't happy along the sideline cuz he certainly wants him to finish this one out the way they started it he doesn't want to give up any soft completions no late points he wants his lead to stay right where it is and he'll be taken down but not before they work it across Midfield the catch and run good for 24 yds well this game was decided a while ago and that completion there it's going to artificially inflate his passing numbers so right now the only one really applauding probably his agent as he thinks about angling for a new contract so from Cowboy territory now here's first and 10 at the 47 now it's Herbert and his pass incomplete and not a common sight at least on this drive a momentary setback though for this passing game that has been moving well this series good thing for them though still two more Downs to connect and try and pick up another first down now a second and 10 Again Herbert that's the tight end Hurst with it and he'll be out just a yard or two shy of the 30 these two have hooked up nine times now this afternoon as they pick up the first well this game is certainly pretty well over they can go ahead and Mark it in the wind column but as a defense they don't want to get so soft now that they everybody just throws the ball all over the place against them gets big yardage and puts points on the board they have pride too on that side of the ball [Applause] [Applause] line of scrimmage the 31 now on First and [Applause] 10 they'll look to throw again alluding the pressure right he'll get three yds on the scramble there it's second down Brandon once that one broke down there were only so many options left for him to take fortunately only first down so he smartly got the yardage he could get and didn't worry about trying to turn into a bigger play and end up taking a bigger loss here they hope they can regroup and get something different going here on second down on second down here's Herbert slant route going to be caught by Palmer and he's going to have another first down here as the tackle made at the Cowboys 17 yd line 11 more yards there and this methodical Drive continues nothing flashy there the slant to the slot oh the frustration for the defensive guys because it's a quick play and you know it's going to be a bang bang play in terms of the throw in the catch and then he's able to absorb the contact and complete it Edwards now on First and 10 and he's brought down just outside of the 10 at the 11 it was Osa oigi zawa on the tackle that's a strong pickup right there on first down and as this drive goes on we're seeing an offensive line and running game imposing its will now second and five they run once more with Edwards and he'll get this one down to about the 10 yd line it'll be a pick up of a couple and it leaves him with a third and three he may be a bit undersized compared to the modern day NFL defensive tackle but what he lacks in size he definitely makes up for and his ability to make tackles in the Run game as well here comes play number nine now as they come up on a third and [Applause] three now they'll throw here out of the gun and he's got his man in stride complete and the Chargers are going to have first and goal as they try to finish off this drive with six points well they've had a great impressive drive going here and that pickup ensures the drive continues and not only do you continue the drive which is demoralizing for the guys on the defensive side of the ball right now but you make your own defense happy they're able to get a little more rest over on the sidelines while this one continues down field it's a five receiver set three to the left two to the right from the shotgun here's Herbert touchdown Chargers Hayden Hurst a 5yd touchdown and the Chargers are finally into the end zone here in this fourth quarter well that's just how they drew it up CD his first read was there got it to him quickly and into the end zone absolutely excellent execution by all involved in the coordinator got to give him credit found the perfect play call quarterback Let it Fly as soon as the target came free and his guy made a nice catch just how you draw it up in practice and then execute it in the game so that drive goes a full 80 yds and 10 plays and it ends with the Chargers getting into the end zone [Applause] here's Dicker now as he'll send this one away and this will not be brought out it's a Touchback and now Dallas gets set to take the field but the win for them at this point seems pretty assured I mean still a decent amount of time left here in the fourth quarter Charles but you got the football you're up three scores they have to be feeling really good about where they're at I love your observation skills partner because I think you saw them charge onto the field fired up about another chance to get into the end zone looks to me like this group is ready to crush any hope left on the opposing sideline and they want to do it with some Gusto [Applause] too they start on the ground with Elliot and this will be a gain of five as he gets it to the 30 good gain there on first down it keeps him in a running situation probably they did everything thing right on that play didn't they they got the leverage up front good blocking nice hole for him ends up picking up nice yardage stays in bounds to keep the clock rolling they are in charge of this scenario right now they want to stay that way and not in any Rush offensively ball on the 30 they'll come up with a second and [Applause] five they go to ellot again and he'll earn a couple of tough yards past the 30 to the 31 that's it that's what you want Straight Ahead positive gain just keep that clock [Applause] ticking the Cowboys on third down they're hitting at 60% 6 out of 10 thus far this is third and four to throw is Prescott and this pass broken up excellent coverage there on third down as that was not an easy one to hold on to well fourth quarter with a three-score lead here Charles but they're still going back to the air and looking for more points well with this game well in hand it's an opportunity for the guys to come off the bench and get a chance to play and a lot of coaches they want to run their full Playbook no matter who's on the [Applause] field here's Brian anger now as he's on to punt for Dallas [Applause] it's a return of five following a punt of 42 yds and it'll be Charger football here as they take over now the Chargers offensive unit ready to see what they can do here their defense was able to force the punt a moment ago but that's really the first of about eight steps that need to go right for them to get back in this as they start here first and 10 throwing to start the drive Herbert complete to Johnston here and give him six yards here as he stopped near the 35 at the 34 you got the big lead defensively willing to give him that underneath stuff right and this is why you work on your tackling tackle them after the catch inbounds keep the clock running just go ahead and bleed the game out that way here's Herbert now on second down a fight for the football and it's intercepted picked off by Deone Clark another solid gamechanging play for this defense with the interception at this point though I don't know that it's game changing I mean they've got this one in firm control and you always hear about you know those stories about someone left their game plan behind and maybe you benefit from it I'm not going to say that that happened but they certainly have appeared on defense to be a step ahead this entire game guys are always in the right spot in order to make a play the offense has had its moments [Applause] too a first down carry by alien and he is going to be stopped cold behind the line of scrimmage he'll lose a yard there and it's second and 11 run blitz there defensively something we might see more of here in the fourth quarter I think we'll see a lot of it and and the difference between that and a pass Blitz pass Blitz you're trying to get to the quarterback you're trying to scheme someone open who will get to the QB and make sure he gets on the ground in a run blitz you're actually trying to cover up gaps trying to cover up holes so they can't run the football a loss of a yard there to start out that leads to a second and 11 Prescott now a short one there taken in by Ferguson it'll go down as a gain of six and it brings up third and five now they gave up the completion there but this is what zone defenses count on catching the ball and not much run after the catch third and [Applause] five here's Prescott that is caught and he'll be taken down but he does have first down yardage move the chains a gain of seven on third down they bring pressure there on third down but this is a nice job of picking it up and making sure their guy has time to deliver the football and they wind up getting the first down so they'll come up first and 10 now from the 33 [Applause] a 20th carry here for Elliot atito agania making that tackle Brandon I've got to think this offensive line has got some Smiles on its faces and and I know it sounds crazy but they practiced for this back in training camp they knew they'd be in situations where it'd be extra defenders in the Box coming after them trying to keep them from locking down a game right now they want to show the world they're up to the challenge Cooks will come in motion right now they show Jet Sweep but instead a run up the middle here down right around the 25 it'll be a pickup of a couple and it leaves him with a third and three so where at all that Running Room that he had in the first half go because it looks like it's drying up a little bit here someone made some adjustments it appears at least on this drive they'll come up now third and three [Applause] again it's Elliot and he gets this down to the 18 good enough for a first down 90 yds rushing for now as he has been tremendous all day long and Carries like that that's how they're going to continue to Salt this thing away here Charles in the fourth quarter yeah how about that a new set of downs clock continues to move no better way to close out a game than to tap those mastadons you have up front and say guys keep pounding them let's keep the ball keep their offense on the sidelines and let's close this one [Applause] out so from inside the 20 here's first and 10 at the 18 Elliot running right two yards on the carry there it'll be second down I know the speed is the Hallmark of today's NFL game but the key to good rushing defense is still having your linebackers set the edge this a second and [Applause] eight they run here with Rico D and he is met in his tracks behind the line of scrimmage they wind up losing a couple there so they go behind the original line of scrimmage and now third and 11 coming up this offense has had a lot to like in this game I don't know that that last play though was going to make the highlight real it's not going to make the highlight real but it will be the focus of the film session that a team has to sit through I've sat through those before never any fun you're always excited about your good plays and they actually fast forward through those all right that was good all right great they get to the bad ones and really illuminate them not [Applause] cool up the middle Freeman and he's going to come up well short as they rally up to stop him at about the 16 give him three yards there as that'll take us to fourth down well that's not a run that's going to make any of the Highlight tapes but they've been moving it well all game on the ground this is another one that keeps them moving forward so on fourth down Prescott off and on is Aubrey for the cowboy field goal this a 33 yd attempt and his kick is right there it's good and that will extend their lead even further well ultimately not really sure that they're going to need those three points but they'll take the three and they pad that lead yeah this one's already wrapped up but you and I both know if you're an offensive coordinator you never let up on the gas unless the head coach tells you to do so and maybe you've actually clicked him off in your headset so you can keep calling plays and trying to add to this lead so after the made field goal back out is Aubrey to kick this away from a couple yards deep he'll bring it out of the end zone and he'll be stopped right around where he would have been had he gone down to a knee maybe a yard shy of there at the 24 so out come the Chargers and we'll see if they can bounce back from that last Drive particular if they can bounce back at the quarterback position Charles after throwing their first interception of the ball game yeah and some guys you know they're going to want to try and get a big play right away and take control back others they're going to want to look to hit a couple shorter passes get a little momentum back that way but for the defense that goal's not changing a bit they want another pick you're exactly right about that in fact you got to watch them a little bit because in coverage they may cut down their gaps a little bit maybe their splits a little bit in order to try and get to the ball even faster and now the drive starts with a completion out to the right and he'll be coralled right around the 34 10 yds there to start the drive and just enough by about the length of the football for a first down a three-score game here late you can probably rule out the comeback but certainly some kind of a moral Victory to be had if they can get a few more points to close things out and to that end a nice pass play there to push things down field yeah and we know in this league a loss is a loss and no one wants anything to count as a oral Victory or boy something that feels a little bit cheap but they trim that lead down to just two scores that's still a benefit to this squad and good yardage there on first down because sometimes all you need to do on the screen is get one key block that might set your man free and that was pretty good pursuit to the football defensively or it could have gone for more they'll come up on a second and four now from the 40 yd line a shotgun snap for Herbert open man right side is shark 63 yds receiving for him now and that last catch good enough for a first down and they'll try to squeeze in one more play here before the two-minute warning [Applause] on First and 10 Herbert and that one complete to his receiver Palmer and he'll be brought down with the first down after a gain of about 11 as that takes us to the two-minute warning just two minutes remaining here in the fourth quarter of what has been a onesided affair so it's Charger football as we welcome you back from the two-minute warning they've got a first and 10 as they search for a late score to the air again Herbert and he will go down a cowboy sack yeah it'll be a loss of seven on the sack and it brings up second we all know he's one of the better quarterbacks in the league but definitely not today his team trailing by multiple touchdowns and a late sack just a parting gift from the defense for him to take back to the locker room with him throwing on second and long Herbert and his throw is incomplete well he's smart enough to avoid the taunting rule but I'll guarantee he quietly has told them you might want to stop coming after me downfield because I just broke up another pass and took away a big shot that you were trying to succeed with seventh play of this drive coming up but a long way to go on third down here's Herbert and he's going to have another first down here as the tackles made at the Cowboys 23 well that's one way to convert on third down picking up 26 yards well I can put my defensive cap on right now and I know they're saying don't give up any big plays now they've controlled this game throughout and all they want to do is see it through to the end I think they let their guard down a little bit with that last completion sometimes when you're trying not to give up bigger plays you don't react as fast as you should on other throws and down inside the 15 shy of the 10 11 more yards that go around a first down as well those are the types of play they probably wish they had made more of in the first three quarters and this deficit going to be tough to overcome here in the fourth but a nice first down and a pick up on that throw yeah and this is where as coaches you're looking for effort and execution even though the scoreboard is going against you you want to find out who's going to fight who's going to scrap in trouble and he'll go down back at the 12 well partner you and I'll be headed to the airport but after this game when it's interview time someone's going to ask this quarterback what hurt worse the interceptions or the sacks his whole day it's been rough barring a miraculous comeback this offense isn't going to win this game but he's probably going to say what hurt most is the loss second and 10 now Herbert with it looking to pass under pressure and they got to him again call it a loss of five a big sack to bring up third down now a timeout called for by the offense as the clock will stop with an even 20 seconds left to go a tough spot here third and 15 a play fake and now Herbert to throw looking in zone but it's incomplete that's coverage you'd expect to see in a tie game late not in a lopsided game like this they are not letting up no choice but to go here's fourth down now they snap to Herbert and it's incomplete they cannot convert and they turn it over they had to go for it with such little time remaining and this long drive is going to wind up yielding nothing so they tried to go for it for Pride but it really wouldn't have matter this one it was already determined no doubt about it this one was over a while ago got so he'll take a knee here to wrap this one up but going to want to keep that game ball he was [Applause] Sensational so this one will end in a victory for the Dallas Cowboys and when you break it down you know this was just a thoroughly dominating performance and I truly thought that we'd have a tight game coming into this one I I think you felt the same way based on our conversation after the the production meeting but obviously not the case and how about just how it broke open you know you just all of a sudden whoosh there it is this thing is pretty much done and the crowd stayed with it to celebrate because they're like let's enjoy watching our team play this well this is fun so that'll do it for my partner Charles Davis and the best darn crew in the industry I'm Brandon G this has been a presentation of
