what is going on lions fans want to come to bring you a bit of sad news Detroit Lions Legend Joe Schmid passed away at the age of 92 the report just came out today which is September the 12th but he passed away on September 11th let me read to you some of what the AP said said about the legend Joe Schmidt the Hall of Fame linebacker who played I'm Excuse me the Detroit Lions win the NFL Championship in 53 in 1957 and later coacher team has died he was 92 you got to remember back when Joe schmidth played it was called the NFL Championship it was not called the Super Bowl that's why they say to this day that the Detroit Lions are one of the teams who have never been to or won a Super Bowl yes the Detroit Lions do have football championships but they were not the Super Bowl which is the big prize that we know today it says the Lions family informed the team Schmidt died Wednesday the cause of death was not provided uh I think it's safe to say that a 92 years old it was natural causes one of pro football's first great middle linebackers Smith played his entire NFL career with the lions from 1953 to 1965 an eight time all pro he was inscribed into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1973 he was also put in the college version in 2000 it says that uh Joe likes to say that at one point in his career he was 63 but he had tackled so many fullbacks that it drove his neck into his shoulders and now he's six foot said the late Lions owner William Kay for Smith's presenter at his Hall of Fame induction in 1973 at any rate he was listed at six foot and as I say was marginal for that position they are however qualities that certain scouts or anybody who is drafting a ball player cannot measure that was by the late William Clay Ford it's says he was born in Pittsburgh he played college football in his hometown at pit beginning his stin there as a fullback and guard before coach ly Casanova switched him to linebacker so Lions fans I just want to give some quick thoughts on the legend Joe Smith of course uh a lot of us know the name because he's a legendary lion uh most of us uh I would say I know I didn't I'm I'm 49 so I absolutely did not see him play but I do remember the legend and we just want to give some uh props off to him truth be told when a when a man is 92 years old that is that is actually a pretty decent run uh I'm not saying that it's not sad but when somebody can make it that far you can that's what they call a full life and we can say that this man lived a full life all right Lions fans I just want to get in here real quick and speak on the legend uh you see our Tik Tock right there on the screen go over there and give us a follow if you're over on YouTube give it a like like give it a comment and subscribe and as you can see on the board there is our Twitter SLX page all right Lions fans I just want to get in here and uh get some thoughts on the legend real quick until next time peace
