Seattle Sounders STUN Providence Park in MLS Rivalry Week - Portland Timbers vs. Seattle Sounders

[Applause] let's go why is the Seattle Sounders vs Portland Timbers match the most historical and best rivalry in MLS hello everyone and today I'm going to take you along with me to experience the Cascadia rivalry as the Seattle Sounders kickoff MLS rivalry week presented by Continental Tire the official partner and official Tire of Major League Soccer what this rivalry has compared to the many other rivalries across MLS from El trafico to the hell is real Derby is this match has history that dates all the way back to 1975 in the nasl when this rivalry was reintroduced in mls in 2011 we have seen some Fierce matches where both clubs have pushed the envelope of success in the league where from 2015 to 2022 one of these two teams would reach the MLS Cup Final when it comes to MLS cups the Seattle Sounders have two to the Portland Timbers one but on the other hand the Timbers have had the Sounders number where the last time the Sounders beat the Timbers was back in August of 2021 this season we saw a change in the coaching department for the Portland Timbers where they have brought in former inter Miami head coach Phil Neville to possibly begin a new era for the club this will be the 139th meeting between the two clubs where Seattle holds a 65756 alltime record unfortunately the years past both of these clubs have struggled to start the season as they're one of the bottom teams in the Western Conference but we have seen in the past when either of these two teams get a win in this Cascadia Clash it has helped springboard their season could we possibly see this happen today let's head over to Portland and just find out we have arrived in Portland we were posted up here last night we were exploring the state we were at Seaside had a really nice dinner just had a really really good time but now today's game day so things are serious I'm rocking my Seattle T-shirt with the OG logo on the back this was our view by the way we're staying in downtown Portland and yeah we're going to do a little bit more exploring of downtown and then then we're going to head to Providence Park it's game day but before we go to Providence Park you guys all know where I'm going to go and eat before the game if you watch last year's Vlog if you know you know I mean if you don't know you'll find out very very shortly but yeah guys we're uh we're heading out it's almost kickoff I'm very nervous and we'll just see how everything goes [Music] now that we had a chance to explore the city have a coffee have a little bite to eat for breakfast the weather is absolutely impeccable today in Portland I mean as Jesse lingard once said you're right neyar yeah no and I love games when the weather is this this nice and makes it more enjoyable I like it a lot more than rainy cloudy not nice weather essentially so now we're heading to the one the only Killer Burger God's given gift and we all know what I'm going to be getting here the best burger that a man can have I've been waiting so long to have this burger for ages and we're going to make dreams into a reality today folks and you know what it is you know the moves you know it what's going to happen what's going down the inner I don't know just some sort of energy and power and wisdom that hopefully Brian schmitzer just pulls out with an absolute tactical ma Master Class against good old Phil so yeah I'll see you like some weird like mind games going on with rosters right now with who's available who's not um but I think the Rivalry always like brings an extra level and then like it's really hard to bring stats into it and can can Phil get his guys up for this game can Phil do it I think I think Phil only has to get a few guys up I think the rest of the team knows how to get up especially Diego tar cuz he's bad after that red card could easily be a tie but like 22 3 three and look at us both at the bottom fighting I think last time you said like 22 3 three so what are you going with 2 two or 3 three minutes away from kickoff the starting lineup got released from Brian not really many changes biggest surprise Jonathan Bell is starting at Center back due to Yar being injured I am concerned about the defensive line but I don't know we'll find out I mean hopefully we can finally get a win in this rivalry I'll throw up the lineup somewhere over here for you all but we're minutes away from kickoff and let the show begin [Applause] all right we're kicked off in the match weirdly enough no T from the Timbers Army I'm surprised I've never not gone to a game and not seen a Tio I don't know why that is you guys got to let me know in the comments why there was no TF done by the Timbers Army so the match is underway and I'll keep you guys posted on how things go throughout it [Applause] and just like that we've conceded literally we were dominating most of the possession we look like the more likely team to score from absolutely nothing long ball from Portland and Felipe moris butt naked open in the Box what is our defense doing there bro I'm so like so disappointing because we were playing well Portland looked like they didn't know how to get themselves into the game but instead we we put ourselves in a hole but hopefully we can get one quickly as we're attacking as I speak oh again yes get in go I don't know how the that went in but Christian Ron has backed himself a goal absolutely this is kind of deserved though we've been dominating possession but big UPS Christian we're back in the game like I hoped absolute King General goal scored in the 19th minute by number seven Christian Ron Ron with the goal in the 19th minute Christian Ron is an absolute machine if you know what I mean all right the players are taking a quick little water break so we can digest what we've just seen for the first 35ish minutes it's been good from us just it's like kind of like it's just the norm of the Season good buildup holding good possession but can we do something in the final third which we haven't necessarily but we do have a goal Portland they're definitely playing us on the Counterattack they had one opportunity so far they took it they almost had another one but I think his name is Anthony pulled it wide so we just have to be careful on the counter I think Bell's been good I think Jackson Reagan's been kind of bad can our forwards be more clinical in my opinion when we get to halftime I'm going to say it now sub out Jordan Morris cuz he has done nothing this game and then watch as I say that he might score but good odds are I don't think he will I'd I'd take Jordan off I'd bring in something different Off the Bench add something different to this game cuz it's like he seems like he's not in it he seems [Music] isolated all right half time half time end of our first half Timbers won Seattle won so as the first half concluded my halftime thoughts essentially kind of what I was already talking about throughout the first half good possession from Seattle they're taking it to Portland Portland look a little bit timid so far in this game they did have one chance they took it they're definitely playing on the Counterattack I'm curious if Neville is going to tell them hey take it more to Seattle because defensively we haven't looked that good in this game so I would like to see Brian take take off Jordan bring on musovski ideally if Georgie was on the bench I would say bring in Georgie for Jordan he's not in the 18 I would bring on musovski I think ruy Diaz looks isolated up top bring on another Striker make it difficult for Portland's defense that has clearly been fragile so far this season but obviously Jordan Morris has some blackmail on schmetzer that he never can benj him in a single game so we'll never know what it's like that play Jordan Off the Bench maybe but I would bring on musovski which again it won't happen happen but I think the sooner you bring on another Striker I think you start making more questions be asked to the Portland defense but second half started let's see how things go and if we can hopefully get a goal win this game create some clear-cut chances and execute them we're playing well we're good buildup let's just make something happen oh ruy Diaz let's go Raul again an absolute screamer what the I thought kpo had it but he didn't hit it top Benji R you absolute Beauty we're actually winning now let's play defense and win this game oh that feels so good come on don't score it that's what we like to see that's what we like to see all right drona spria is now in last 10 minutes is going to be nippy cuz every time I just hate whenever we go up against Daron asria this guy always scores against us and they're always the nicest craziest goals H and we made all three of our subs brought on Cody Danny and Roth Rock fair enough I just wish we brought him on sooner and I just I'm worried man Portland put it backing on the pressure these last 10 minutes we're going to be playing on our toes and I'm hoping that we just lights out lights out defensively maybe ni a goal make all the stress go down like 50 m and just we can clean housee this game and get the [Applause] Timbers I don't by no means was this one of our cleaner performances but we got the job done and we haven't seen that kind of dog in the Sounders in a while to win a game when they weren't the better team we haven't seen that in a while and to finally won a match at Providence Park granted I still think we need to win one in Seattle that's the most important part but we won that's the most important thing there's nothing bad to say about a win can now can we build on this can this be the pillar the springboard to Seattle getting their season on the road like get the ball rolling in
