and foremost are you okay yeah I'm fine yeah it I don't know what it looked like I closed my eyes um anytime you get turned in front of the field while leading it you know somebody's going to hit you there's no way you're getting out of it um you know I'm just bombed I mean we had a really fast Long John Silver Ford must thing I'm really proud of everybody at front row I mean we had a ton of speed with both cars this weekend and you know with a few laps to go we put ourselves in position to win the race and that's that's what we wanted to do um unfortunately we we didn't get to the end and you know that's part of this in and um you know I haven't watched it in detail to know exactly what happened and so I don't want to throw um you know any opinions out there because Lord knows that I've made plenty of mistakes at Super Speedways and I want to make sure that it wasn't me but I felt like I just got um Turned getting down into turn one and just the wrong angle at the wrong time um but you know Austin was doing a great job of pushing me we had a good run and you're at the end of these races so I'm not not faulty him um we were trying to do what we could that you were expecting to push obviously yeah well we're all pushing hard typically you don't push going into the corner um as far as entry goes you know you kind of pick somebody up push them and then you kind of release as you get off into it but he was just a little bit off center and I think that's probably what did it more than anything did you feel your car going over cuz I looked like it was about to tip over it was it was going over I didn't I had my eyes closed um but whoever hit me it felt like it set me back down because I had that moment where it got real light and it got real quiet and then I got hit and then I was back on the ground so um I haven't seen the replay but I'm just glad Josh Barry is okay that that one um looked looked definitely worse than mine so you know it's it's the end of a Daytona race and these things happen everybody's pushing hard and had guys up there that had to win and so you know everybody's going to go for it for the blowovers concerning that we're having two weeks in a row three cars you know I talked a little bit about it in the media center last night is you know the the up and down part of it always concern you don't want cars to go in the air but they are setting down you don't want them to take off right um You don't want to see what what we've seen here in years past and you know cars get up too high and get into the catch fence so I'm sure they'll keep addressing it and keep working on it um I'm a little bit bummed out that that happened again in the same spot because Dayton International did such a tremendous amount of work to pave all that and take all the grass out and yet the car still took off so I think we could probably eliminate the fact that it was the grass that did it last year more than likely it was just the speed and the angle because it was very similar angle right there um but less violent right so maybe maybe there is something to learn there but um I know they'll address it I mean I'm not panicked about it do you think the fin had anything to do with it the addition of the new fin you think that might be the reason these cars are getting up in the air no I mean the fin you know it's been kind of tried and tested to to help the lift off um so I don't feel like I don't feel like that would probably be it but they'll study it and look at it I mean it's so hard to to plan for every situation and you know the easiest thing for them to do is just slow us down right and as the drivers we don't really want that because then it changes the the feel of the race and the runs and so sometimes we're our worst our own worst enemies right because we want we want to keep the package similar but I'm sure they'll look at all the options ask this with Grace but um leading a tadig is where you crashed leading at Daytona is where you crashed how disheartening are those moments to take away understanding that this might have been the last opportunity to get into the plan it's not the last opportunity we've been good at Garlington um it's way better than being 30 if he crashing I mean it is I mean if you just look at you know the three times I've rode in the ambulance this year is the Texas Talladega and here and every single time it was was gracing for the lead um you guys will have to tell me cuz you saw the replay I'm pretty sure I didn't do anything wrong on this one Talladega that's 100% me that was you know a bonehead move but I think tonight I put myself in position and was doing everything I needed to do and you know just unfortunate circumstances okay Michael thank you what did you see happen from your perspective if anything at all yeah saw the logo on his re bumper get really big really fast and not out I don't know what happened in front of who got turned or what what made us check out car sketchy or any more than normal just last couple lap last La I think everyone pushing hard there was a lot of intensity especially through that first stage um seemed like it ratchet it up again late did you feel any difference tonight compared to past summer Daytona races not really um I don't really know what caused that wreck in uh stage stage too there was a wreck right that's right like early we were all just saving gas I don't know how we wreck all saving gas maybe some guys weren't but um yeah no I mean I feel like it's pretty normal um I was really hoping to make it to the end of this uh I haven't finished the Daytona race in like 2 years so uh I was looking forward to it thought Joey and I were in a decent spot to kind of go forward and just um but yeah just chaotic like normal um have a lot of uh interesting people up in the top five should make for an exciting finish uh the Ford's really strong this weekend both in the race handing qualifying what what can you guys take from that especially with knowing the playoffs open with Atlanta yeah I mean it's it's good I mean I think that's that's positive to have um hopefully we can carry that to Atlanta we obviously really good there in the in the spring um but don't matter when you're sitting on a flat [Music] bed like MD got turned in front of you and not much shap to do yeah I haven't really seen a great replay yet but it just like pushing in the corner te nothing can do speeder racing is really cool until until you ra you know it's just going to be one of those races we can tell already May wreck a bunch of War so um yeah I don't have the solution just is it's a product of the racing the bushes the shs are so intense the cars are so slow and rigid and out of control uh when you start pushing each other and the give and takes going on at the end of the race and it just becomes a mess so we either got to make the cars handle better when they get pushed or make them to where you can't get to each other as easy but if we don't do nothing we'll just keep crashing but if that's what they want then that's what they they got it but I don't really know what we're looking for when it comes to Speedway racing but it's uh it's entertaining I guess it seemed like you were able to make a lot of aggressive moves early through stage one just at least try to position the car um what was your take on just what you were able to do behind the wheel um with this add of right side I mean it didn't change anything um I I didn't really think it changed much inside the car um yeah I just feel like our car was good uh we really fast sh p on Mustang and our teamwork was fantastic um which put us you know almost won two stages right about won the first one and won the second one so uh proud of that effort and you know hey we're leading the bottom Lane with whatever it was ago s or eight ago or what else can we go for what you this was a great run for you guys tonight is there anything you can take from tonight uh yeah I mean it was okay we still got a lot of stuff clean on but uh I don't know just keep I guess I mean Speedway racing not really much to say I don't need to be sure but I mean
