home runs uh MLB power rankings playoff picture Arizona Dodgers series recap and Angels Dodgers series preview Mike how are you doing this fine day it's good it's Monday we got the work day off but we're working on our podcast today talking Dodgers everything's good man um Dodgers have had a compelling series uh I like what I see well so far right now so we're doing this podcast while the fourth game in the Arizona series is on its way still the Dodgers have the lead now six to one uh yeah six to one um I think going into the eighth right otani's got three stolen bases this game which is nice to see I was just telling Robbie uh pre-production uh I might be eating my words on that 50/50 he may hit it yeah so right now the Otani watch is now 440 home runs 46 stolen bases and it's September 2nd so we've got the whole month of September to get four more stolen bases and six more home runs it's unless he gets injured or goes through some crazy slump you know I can't see him not hitting that Mark the stolen bases I feel like he can get that in the next series if you wanted to there's been so many opportunities even in this series where I thought he was going to steal second he didn't which is crazy he just kind of even with a runner on third sometimes he'll wait till there's like two strikes on the on the pitcher Before He'll actually try to throw to Second which I feel like maybe because we coach little league it's always blows my mind when there's a runner on third there's a fast runner on first base second base is unoccupied and first pitch they're not stealing well they're not stealing because if it's if it's a close game the odds of the catcher throwing it to second base I feel like are very slim when you got Runners that have speed on the corners and it's happened a couple times where con be on First and you got um uh who was uh crap who was a um Chris Taylor was on Third and it took him a while to steal that base it's like they're not Chris Taylor's pretty fast they're not going to throw to second base unless I mean they are Major Leaguers maybe the the hitters got a green light and they want to run into a double play that could be it at the same time I I tell my kids take first pitch oh I'm opposite first pitch attack cuz it's always a fast ball down the middle now going to run around first cuz I mean l League you steal I mean you steal second all the time Little League when run on third you s it even more obviously so I know we're talking little league rules I I'm sure there's people on the other end going that's little league this is Major League Baseball still at the same time could you really imagine them trying to throw ton out at second base with a fast runner on third and it's a close game like I don't think they're going to throw the ball if they did he probably still beat it out anyway he made it look really easy just just a moment ago when he sold second and third like it's uh that's the first time I've like like seen the camera on him steal and he's not even it looks like he's not even working hard to get there and he's beating the ball by two or three steps he gets really good jumps yeah all right let's talk Kershaw really quick so unfortunately Kershaw did not have the outing we were hoping for uh Kershaw was plac in the 15-day iil with a bone spur okay so here's an article by Michael Reynolds I'm going to read to you really quick the Dodgers already thin starting rotation got even thinner on Saturday when Clayton Kershaw was placed on the 15-day injured list the veteran Southpaw was removed after one plus Innings on Friday night due to a sore left big toe that prevented him from fully pushing off the Rubber and manager Dave Roberts revealed uh postgame that the issue was caused by a bone spur that Kershaw has been dealing with for maybe a couple of years but he's normally been been able to keep the pain at Bay and prevent treat or with preventative treatment there is so much swelling he could barely move around with it Dave Robert said c will need to undergo treatment and get the inflammation under control before the Dodgers have a clear timeline for his return but Roberts is hopeful that the three-time NL saong Award winner will be able to rejoin the rotation after a minimum stay on the on shelf on the shelf that would give him as many as three starts before the postseason um so you want my take on it well hold on go ahead so I'll give you you know what Mike give me your take then I'll give you my take go what I don't understand is if Spurs have always been a problem and he's was on the I or injured reserve for all this time from this last injury why didn't they go get it shaved down and get get rid of it if it's always flared up if it's always been an issue why like I would have got rid of it maybe because when Robert says he's always been able to manage manage it that he didn't think he needed to I here okay that's a good question and I think I'm going to answer it with with what how I feel so I think Kershaw wasn't feeling right going into this game and I feel like because of the beating that he took in the playoffs last year he could feel that that was going to happen again so he took himself out put himself on the iil basically um and it was it was bad and it was good for the Dodgers it was bad for the Dodgers because obviously now it left their uh Bullpen really you know taxed for this series they had to choose which game to lose and I feel like they chose to lose the raski uh start um but it was good on Kershaw to not dig them in a bigger hole than he could have Unfortunately they went with Joe Kelly which we'll talk about that but I think I I've never had that kind of issue before I know how difficult it's got to be to push off of a mound um if you can't if you can't push off the mound that's going to really affect all of your pitches regardless of velocity it also affects your your spin affects like how you actually throw your mechanics so you might be leaving some meatballs up there and stuff I'm sure it was probably very difficult for Kershaw to to take himself out of that game because he always seems like he's a competitor he's always the guy who wants to be put in the game regardless if he thinks he's going to lose it I think it's growth on his part to take himself out of the game and go hey this isn't working let's get out it might make our rotation a little bit more clear on who's going to be on it because if he doesn't come back after that 15 day Mark I think that's it right I'm not sure how the I works I mean this is kind of where we need Max for this but I it goes in increments yeah right so if you don't come off the 15 or like they put you back on it it's for another 15 days that means he wouldn't even pitch until the playoffs yeah I don't know how that works either but so it's interesting point so I don't think I've ever heard of him having uh bone spurs in his toe before I have I've heard he's had bone spurs before so I wonder if those other outings that he's had where he struggled was CU it was a flare with the Bon Spurs but I don't I what I don't understand is like you don't want to have to manage pain spir periodically or when it flares up like I don't really buy that whole oh he's been dealing with it for the last few years like if it was a problem and you were out for an extended period of time wouldn't you like I don't know it might be outpatient where they shave down the bone sprs or pull him out of his toe and then it's not an issue any longer like I don't I don't really understand that you're talking to a guy who hates getting blood drawn so I can't I can I can't I don't know like he could be a type of person who's afraid of the needle who's afraid of the knife like all those kind of things like I have no idea um it's unfortunate that it's now that situation now if you take kersa out of the picture and if glass doesn't come back if uh Yamamoto doesn't come back now you've got now you're down to four now you know who your four starters are in the playoffs definitely bad timing it is bad timing um but looking really good but at the same time it could be a blessing maybe having those 15 days off you know he's his Bon spur heals I don't know how long it takes for a bone spur to heal um he gets it managed it's less he takes less taxing on his arm that's what may maybe 70 pitches less that he throws at least or I'm sorry 70 pitches less that he threw that one game so then you say if he misses two other games now pass that so what is that 24 pitches that he's not going to throw my math right 21 pitches sorry I'm watching I'm watching the game middle you know what I mean 20 21 it doesn't matter 210 pitches Aver so okay so let's talk about let's jump into maybe he'll have a little bit more gas going into the playoffs maybe it's a blessing well let's go back to what you said last POD at least it's not his arm let's just say that at least it wasn't his arm well you mentioned last podcast do you think they they might even leave him off the playoff roster it was a possibility if he he wasn't pitching good but is this a an out to keep him off the playoff roster I would say if Walker buer an excuse this might be an excuse sure it might it might open I will say this though also is this a is this a BS is this a BS flare up to keep him off the playoff roster I will say this is is he not is he not the Kershaw of old that can we not trust him to pitch dominantly uh down the stretch and in the playoffs did you see how Kershaw looked in the Dugout though the next day he was super happy which is interesting for a guy who got taken out of the game after the first inning and got put on the iil he's sitting there with two other guys on the iil which is with um Dustin may and Tony gonlin and they're both just smiling and having a great time so I mean I think May that that was a good sign that he's sitting there smiling and that he was laughing and doing whatever because I feel I feel like he doesn't think he's going to be off for that long I think he's I think he'll be back I think he's going to be back after the 15-day I stint he that'll give him what two two games yeah two games to prove two to three games maybe to prove that he's ready for the playoffs and hopefully there's no other injuries oh no hold on looks like Jake McCarthy is going to get a run hit in right here yeah well they already had a so now the lead's down to six to three ban I forget his name all right oh you get the cheat watch I got the cheat okay so anyways it's not a good sign I mean I think it could be worse but only time's going to tell what we're going to do with uh kers on the iio hey if you're listening to this middle relief is struggling right now we've given up two runs first the VES didn't come back in the seventh and then this is the second pitcher we've had this inning I think is boss I think it's B middle relief this uh he gave up three runners I forget his name anyways that a shock put okay all right one more out two more and then whatever that six to get out of this to get the Mike keep in mind people are listening to this already saw the game they already saw the game okay sorry all right Dodgers lead off let's talk to the next topic so this will be a really fast one uh Dodgers lead off a game with backto backto back home runs so on Saturday Otani Betts and Freeman went back to backto back home runs and so it's something that we thought was going to happen at some point in the season we didn't realize that if they did do it if they start if they let off a game doing it it would been the first time in franchise history that that that would have happened is that the Dodgers let off with three consecutive home runs so I thought that was a pretty special thing to mention I don't know if there's anything else we want to talk about that there's pretty much it no it was well was a great way to start off the game except for what happened right after that we gave up the lead yeah gave up the lead the next thing with four runs yeah horrible which we'll talk we'll talk about that when we do the recap I feel like Gavin Stone pitched way better than what was shows cuz yeah there was a bonehead play by Kier Meer in center field um then there was a lazy fly like a lazy play on TK or I'm sorry T Oscar Hernandez's part in left field that I feel like he should have at least at the minimum kept the ball in front of him but he should have caught that ball um there's a like a line drive somewhat into left field that he ran up on I think he couldn't decide what he wanted to do with it and it was kind of tailing from him but he still should have caught it ball gets by him two- run score because of it and there was like two like three of those runs I felt like should not have happened um if the defense would have actually played a little bit smarter well so now that you mentioned that generally speaking you've mentioned it last pod the last there's been a few games here where we've made some bonehead Fielding here in the last couple serieses but which is a bright spot our offense have come alive the last two or three series certain to come together but um right like didn't you say that the last series or three or four games ago like Mony boot the ball and somebody else boot the ball and kind of left well M I'm going to give m a pass because it's not like he did something stupid he just made an error like and then and let's let's let me let me uh let me clarify what I mean by that so if if if a play if a player bobbles a ball you know uh then that's that could be an error because he just miss he somewhat like you know he just the ball could have took a bad hop on him or got him on the top of his mitt whatever the case is threw the ball in the dirt you know like just you know bad fundamentals we'll say bad fundamentals but then there's another thing where it's like just a bad decision where like take here uh center field balls hit um I'm trying to remember the the exact play I don't want to say it wrong and then people are like getting mad at me on the other end of this but there was a play where uh km tries to throw a runner out at home he has no chance to get this Runner out at home but because he makes that throw at home the runner first Advan the second base so now he's in scoring position so if he decides instead of like I'm going to show you how good my arm is throw it at home if he would have just hit his cut off man then the runner is at first base there was a couple uh that resulted in a run because he let that Runner get to second base same thing with teoscar Hernandez if teoscar Hernandez keeps the ball in front of him one run comes in as opposed to two if tar Hernandez makes the decision a little bit quicker and decides to either dive for the ball like commit to it because it looked at the end of it just looked lazy like oh I'm not going to get to it oh the ball Gets behind me good thing that he was getting that the center fielder backed him up but if he would have actually either fully committed on it then he would have got me out like things like that is that the first time you've seen that the course of the Season that we've made uh poor decisions like that I mean is it no I mean we shouldn't be worried about it becoming a habit right those are like dumb erors like like there's just like well I they're dumb airs because they're just not making the right choices like I don't know what they're thinking at the time it's hard for me to say guy podcast like talking about major league baseball players like it just seems AR armchair quarterback in it armchair quarterback in it the guys that couldn't even make the college high school team are telling I made the high school team I don't know what you're talking about I didn't all right moving on so where are we at on this whole thing so Dodge my back back okay so now Power Rankings don't forget if you like what you're hearing cuz we're kicking it we're killing it so far in this episode yeah go click that like And subscribe button go check out that patreon page patreon.com a follow give us a follow a like help us spread like a virus all right that's a new one yeah spread like a virus it's not new I'm just saying it all right so bleach bleach report power or MLB power rankings came out Dodgers moved up a spot they're back to one uh so Philly are number two I want to go through this really fast because right now we're currently playing Arizona and Arizona has been one of the hottest teams in baseball same thing with San Diego since they are a scrappy Bunch they do not go away they they don't and as we're seeing this right now um but it's it's scary because if you look at the rankings you got Dodgers one Phillies two Brewers three all right then you got Yankees four Baltimore 5 but they're in America League but then you got Arizona 6 and San Diego 7 yeah okay so and this is going to go into the next thing when I look at the playoff picture because it's crazy because if San Diego and Arizona keep playing the way that they're playing granted now hopefully Arizona hit a stop which is the Dodgers the do like hopefully the Dodgers hold on to this game and they win it cuz right now it's 63 they're the bottom of the sth um little Rel dude Bond though I like him so it's it's at least it's not Joe Kelly it's all I gotta say it's least not Joe Kelly uh the third pitch of this inning it's not good yeah keep in mind people listening to this already know what happens and there's nobody coming first get over there all right got out of it okay sorry guys got out of the inning what's scary is the way that Arizona's playing The Way San Diego is playing that they have a good chance to be to have you know the second wait they call them safe what did he not touch on the hold on a second here guys I'm sorry he miss the bag he's got the ball he missed the oh Jesus he missed the bag oh God all right power ranking middle relief is is killing me now went down in a power ranking right now Jesus crimey that was ridiculous oh wait he might have kicked it no I don't think he kicked it let's see sorry guys I know this is this is a really bad all right oh no you didn't get it I'm sorry back to the diamond packs and the Padres I'm saying so it's it's crazy to think because of Arizona's been playing so well and so is San Diego playing so well that if you look at the playoff bracket which is the next thing I have coming up here right now if the Dodgers stay in first place right they'll get a buy okay if Philadelphia stays in second place they'll get a buy the Dodgers will play the winner of the 4 five slot which would either be if everything stayed the way it is would either be Arizona or San Diego okay and I like I can't see it changing because those two teams are playing so well Milwaukee stays in the third spot and a and Atlanta like kind of sneaks in and so they get the six spot the reason why I look at this playoff bracket it kind of bugs me a little bit is that that means that the Dodgers are going to play either four or five and I kind of oh he touched the bag corner for to H hit it sorry guys anyways you can't tell from that angle you can't tell from that angle I'm I'm being hopeful D stop pretend there's not a game on right now cuz I'm trying to get through this all right so that means the Dodgers will play the four and five Philly will play three or six and I feel like this is a little unfair I kind of feel like it should be set up if you got the second spot there needs to be more of a reward if you get the if you get the best record in the National League I feel like it needs to be you're either going to play the five or six I don't understand why they split three and six or why they split the wild cards to 3 and six and four and five that seems a little yeah I agree with that I don't understand that either I feel like Philadelphia should either have to play the three or the four because they're in the second spot and then the Dodgers will play the five or the six because they're in the first spot that's just I like it seems crazy that because that that means that Philadelphia has the chance to go to start their playoff run playing the sixth place team which is a little unfair because they didn't get the best record it's almost beneficial to to be the three seed to no to be the second seed second seed it's almost beneficial to be the second seed because it I don't see it being that big of a boost of anything because of who you're going to who the Dodgers are actually have to end up playing four or five I would hate to play Arizona or San Diego in the first round I would much rather play Milwaukee or the Brewers I'm sorry Milwaukee or the Braves in the first in their first round over Arizona and San Diego I agree with that yeah so I'm I'm just curious and did they get the out yeah they got be out okay jeez it's middle relief guys middle relief needs to get their stuff together I would love to hear your point on this I would have Lov to hear Max's point on this as well because it seems like that's not once again you take such a long break in between playing on this buy and then you have to come back and play two teams that are super hot right now where you know I feel like it should it should be five or six it shouldn't be so do you think the three should be three seed should be playing the five seed four seed should be playing the four six six spot so do you think in the way this is set up you think Arizona should be playing Atlanta and Milwaukee should be playing Milwaukee Milwaukee should be playing Arizona and I understand now that I think I can see why because they want to give Milwaukee look you still got first place in your division so you should at least play like the lower ranking wild card spot but the way that it all shapes up it doesn't it's not beneficial to be the number one seat it's benici be the number two seed that's the best outcome I think for seaing would be number two spot well I think the only reason why we really talking about this is because Arizona and San Diego are playing so good no I'm talking about it because the number two seed has an opportunity to play the number six seed in their first play after the buy where that's fine okay but but okay let's just what should be receded after the first after the first after the wild card after the wild card then the lowest place team that's theam I agree play the one seed I agree with that I think it should go that way I agree that the the the one seed should play the lowest remaining seed in this in the in the divisional round I agree U but we may not be talking about this if it wasn't that I mean the Padre's I would still bring it up I I guarantee I would still bring it up I wouldn't feel as passionate maybe because of how well San Diego and Arizona is playing especially since we're watching Arizona right now how like you think you beat them down they just keep coming at you coming at you coming at you they don't go away I mean they're a good team they were in the World Series last year they are a good team what you want to keep going or you want to keep going on post seon picture we're going to jump on next thing I mean I don't know what else to go to you're not wrong but I don't know what else to argue between the playoff seatings what are you guys sing out there listeners you think the postseason seatings need to be revamped you think uh Dodger getting the short end of the stick I think the number one seeds do you guys how do you feel about the number one seed do you think it's what would you rather the Dodgers have number one or number two seed because either way they're still they would still win their division if they got the number two well I'll tell you right now they the two seed they'd probably go to the NLCS give I mean yeah if they got two they play the Brewers Atlanta they go to NLCS they have a better chance to go to the NLCS if they're the number two seed because they' be playing ball they'd be playing Milwaukee or yeah or Atlanta as of right now and the way I feel like all this month is going to do right now in September um you know what let me pull up the standings can you pull up the standings really fast I'll do it I could try to yeah to see that close because I feel like these these are the teams right now all they're doing right now is shuffling where they're going to be yeah um unless I'm missing a team which I think Chicago's trying to go for like they're close let me double look let me double check no you got the Mets they're one game out Chicago's three games out and then St Louis is five games out so really you got the Mets the Mets and Atlanta might switch spots Atlanta might get knocked out New York might take them but that would be it um but then the division hold on because let me look at the division really fast yeah Chicago oh they're nine games back of Milwaukee the max can you tell that we're missing you right now so yeah the really the only real race right now is SE and like to get into the playoffs just to get into the playoffs is really just the Mets in Atlanta like they're going to be knocking each other back and forth but everybody else I think is already in it it's now just where they're going to sit seeding wise and Milwaukee's got a nine and a half game lead in the central so they got they got the they got the number three seed at least lock down they're three and above I feel like they're going to be three and above and then you've got um you've got Philly there's seven games in front in the in the East um but they've got almost an identical record with Milwaukee so that two and three could that two and three can move around and then you've got the Dodgers with after this game hopefully five games up they'll be six games up they'll be six games up and then now you're still seeing they'll have the number one seed by not a lot they'll only be they only have it by two games maybe one um and then now you still got Arizona and San Diego fighting so I guess the question is can Arizona San Diego slip to the three or six seed no I think Arizona and San Diego they're locked into those two spots right now I think you're going to see right now is Milwaukee and Atlanta can't catch a San Diego or Atlanta I don't mil Atlanta Arizona well no Milwaukee's number one in their division so they're going to be the number three regardless okay so it only be the 60 it's only yeah it's only the it's only the teams that are not number one in their division and that's I think they're what's Atlanta's record uh Atlanta's record is 74 and 63 and then what's what's it Arizona's record Arizona's record is 77 and 60 so three games they're three they're they're a plus three both those teams are plus three so yeah yeah I guess it is a possibility that Atlanta can can get in there yeah but I I mean maybe because we're just seeing Arizona right now we've just we recently saw good ball Club I don't see them I don't see fight me either and I've always said even with San Diego San Diego has so much talent if they could just figure out how to get out of their way and they would be one of the best teams in baseball because they they have a really tough lineup top to bottom as well but they're just like so ego driven it just seems so hard for them to kind of just like stay focused on a on on winning a baseball game and it seems like they figured it out um so they're they're just super dangerous I I mean can we just not face anybody in the playoffs and just make it to the World Series well I mean bottom line unfortunately the NL West is the strongest division in the in the in the league or at least in National League that's for sure that's what it seems like yeah I mean it's a good thing and a bad thing it's great for the nol west but it's not good for our Dodgers all right I I also just realized I have not played any video that's all right let's play some video let's play some video yeah what do you do a series recap for the and we're only going to re be recapping three and a half games because the fourth game is still going right now with the with the Diamond Backs so let me go ahead and uh get the Highlights going right now Friday's highlights boom We Friday hey Friday highlights brought to you by routy brain media I love it oh we got one of the best engineering mins in the industry I'm going to make sure this time really quick that the the audio is not pumping through like it did last time I don't think it is yeah I'm pretty sure it's not all right here we go so Friday's game the Dodgers win 10 uh they win 10 to9 over the Diamondbacks Kershaw only goes one inning gives up three hits three earned runs one walk and one Homer um we talked about Kershaw obviously we don't have to keep talking about that too much hopefully the bone spur is under control he comes back with 15 days left puts up two good starts and then makes the playoff run hopefully we'll see what happens Joe Kelly which I want a little bit more time to talk about Jo Kelly cuz man that is the most unreliable reliever we have right now and every single time he comes in Pitch it's like you have no idea if it's even going to make it to the catcher it's he like look I understand Joe Kelly has got good stuff when he's on but the fact that you like he's too much of a wild card it's not the way it was three years ago two years ago when you can bring in a pitcher for one batter and then if he doesn't have it you can pull him out because he has to pitch the minimum of three batters so that means if if Joe Kelly comes in and he's not hitting his spots that's a guarantee that three runners are going to at least get on base oh uh mukie bets doubles yes it's now 8 to3 in the current game that's going on right now so anyways back to Joe Kelly I'm just not a fan of Joe Kelly right now I think Joe Kelly is shown throughout this season he does not deserve to be on the playoff roster I was just going to ask you that he make the playoff roster he does I don't think he does the way you got bonda pitching right now um and that's a good Lefty pitcher I then you also got um crap I can't think of his name at the moment the other Lefty pitcher which actually why Joe Kelly's not Lefty he's righty vessia you got vessia and then you got Bond I can never pronounce trenin TR Trin you got Tran you've got um uh uh uh geez man it's been a long day I'm going to say right now uh you're not normally like this you do a lot of relievers I know everybody but now I'm just like you just I look you got enough arms in the bullpen Joe Kelly's not your guy he just not I think they need to they're going to probably make that decision Midway through October here some highlights coming up right now on him right now yeah just giving up runs after runs after runs it's just he's not should have resigned him I think like I said he's got good stuff if you can control him if he's when he's on he's amazing the problem is it's like a 50-50 tossup you can't go in the playoffs with a 50-50 tossup if he's going to be on or not you just can't do it I'm sorry I'm just I can't I can't do it no anyways so Otani goes uh two for four with an RBI and a double Freeman goes one for five with two home runs he has three home runs in this series and the fourth game's not even done yet that's still going right now Will Smith won for with a three-run homer so Will Smith he heard our segment he heard our segment about him need need to step it up and Muny two for three Muny is hitting the ball extremely well since coming back from the I his batting average I would like to know what that is but Max didn't show up I'd like to know what his batting averages since coming off letting us down just letting us down um I just the Dodgers I feel like even right now in this series even though we're still waiting for the fourth game to finish and it looks like now you got a 8-3 win how are you going to blow this this is a start of we're going to we're going to blow through the Sunday game because I don't want to talk about that that much but the Dodgers what they did is they showed up they proved that their offense is a force to be reckoned with from the top to bottom and that's really what their issue was in the playoffs it wasn't like the pitchers blew it for them as much as we all we all talked about throughout the season it wasn't like we talked about it through you know like how everybody talked about like we didn't have a good starting pitch we didn't have good starting pitching well let me give you these scenarios Mike which we talked about briefly granted the first game Kershaw shouldn't shouldn't even have been pitching the first game in the playoffs right correct correct yes Kershaw gave up I can't remember how many runs let's say six let's say seven let's say eight doesn't really matter right now Dodgers lose that game well guess what if Kershaw would have went seven Innings strong gave up only three runs the Dodgers still lose they only they only hit they only got two runs in that game yeah offense next game Bobby Miller let's say Bobby Miller went seven Innings only gave up three runs guess what Dodgers still lose they only scored two runs that game next game same thing Dodgers only scored two runs so the Dodgers offense needs to show up and with this lineup it's so heavy from top to bottom that you can afford to have Otani not have a good game and Bets not to have a good game and Freeman not to have a good game but you still got teoscar Hernandez you got Gavin Lux the way he's pitching now you got Max Muny you've got a lot you've got uh Tommy Edmond which I love Tommy Edmond his swing is so good he's such a little baller I love I think he's a great pickup he might be my favorite pickup they've gotten the Dodgers have a great and he's got a great glove in center field and he's got a great glove Cent great glove in center field they have an offense from top to bottom which is super exciting and that's what you saw in this series is the fact that yeah our pitching might not be here in these games but guess what our bats are here which was totally completely awesome all right let me uh ceue up the next reel let's talk about Saturday's highlight brought to you by me here we go all right so Saturday's game uh Dodgers win that one 8 to6 Stone last pitches five innings pitched give five hits five earn runs one walk four KS and two home runs we talked about the defense let him down in the first inning which I believe he gave up three earn runs in that first inning which shouldn't have been ear in runs but if the defense actually plays the way they should have played then this would then you know we would have been talking more about the backto back to back homers right now you see how tni's blast on our highlights we got going on on YouTube by the way we're on YouTube so anyone listening to the podcast we're on YouTube oh guess what Freddy Freeman just homered in the fourth game of the series right now that's going on currently so that means Freddy Freeman hit four home runs in the series against Arizona the offense is coming alive in this series this is a big we talked about earlier or uh La I just talked about it I just talked about it I'm just saying but last pod right we talked about for the Dodgers and it was really um a sign if we could battle with them and uh hang with this team because they were really hot there goes wow de Center yeah that's a good sign to see considering that he has this issue with his finger so that's good that he's hitting the ball anyways so back to uh Saturday's game Otani goes one for five the two RB and a homer bets one for five with an RBI that's his Homer and then obviously Freddy Freeman had his Homer Max Muny two for two continues hit the ball Lux two for two and Tommy Edmond two for three we had that uh game-winning I think it was single two run scored hard to remember but Dodgers looked awesome uh right now we're seeing a highlight man Carol Carol he's fast can fly but this is this is the missplay in center field right that sorry YouTube guys can see it but no one else can ball hit to center field should have been timed off the wall instead um it doesn't matter oh there's that air right there there's the air right there from yeah anyways that's uh that's all the highlights we got to go for the game to in Saturday we talk about game we got the win though got the win Sunday's game is ugly awful I'm glad I was out I'm glad I was out to lunch cuz I think the Dodgers were out to lunch with me in that game I had a session I had on on the TV screen I was watching a little bit and it was yeah well we were while we were putting in work it was obviously the Dodgers didn't that game well I think because what happened with Kershaw uh Kershaw put them in a bad spot let's be honest uh because of that they had to call it robowski robeli I can never say his name oh dude tcar was just up to go for the cycle and he got in single oh that's right it's fine anyways raski gives goes five and one3 10 hits 10 earned runs two walks two gates 10 earned runs that's insane but he gave up eight runs in the second or third inning right yes so if you take that away you only up two runs over five what's his box hold on I think he gave up eight runs in the second or third inning one inning he gave up eight runs I think it the second inning regardless that's insane I will say this though I mean one bad Ting but I mean eight runs yeah eight runs in the second inning then he gave up another run in the third inning and then obviously run in the sixth inning I will say this though he knew what his job was supposed to be they knew that they weren't going to take him out they couldn't take they couldn't get the bullpen in there he he stayed in there he settled down after the second inning and he looked pretty decent going into the sixth inning yeah um whether that was just Arizona just being nice to him I don't know but he took his lumps and it sucks for like his stats not going to look that great unfortunately we were talking about him really we were excited about him until his last couple starts now it's just kind of like I mean see why we I could see why they weren't talking about him as much um at least the the Dodgers weren't um just because he's been getting rocked the last couple games he's not he's not like a a a sought after Prospect like Gavin stone or Bobby Miller um well the only she in who's who's out yeah the only the only bright spot to that is we didn't have to go to the we didn't have to go to the uh the bullpit in that game and burn burn up some arms I think the Dodgers decided that game three was the game that they were prepared to lose to get back I don't know about that no they did cuz you look at flarity they knew that flarity was pitching game or or Monday's game but you don't go to a game think he's wowski is going to get smoked like that no I think after what happened with Kershaw they had to pick they had to choose their battle they had to pick which game they weren't going to give any help in the bullpen oh fair enough okay I got you and then I feel like that was the game they decided hey if here's the ball he last into the six Innings that's great but if he's getting rocked he's got he's got to stay in good point that's a good point because as much as we want them to win every single game it's more important to win the series than it is to win every game that's a good point I you know I didn't really think about the impact of khaw going out in the second the other the other night that's a good good point yeah well enough of those highlights I don't want to watch those anymore all right and then so far in this game that's going on currently right now let's go ahead and pull these stats up because this is exciting times uh the game's still going it's the top of the eth now it's 11 to3 why why is 11 to3 cuz you get updates faster on your cuz Tommy edmon's going to hit a runner in why you blowing it for me I don't get the updates faster you I'm watching I'm watching on TV well that's what happens when you stream on Direct TV Direct TV stream is delayed unfortunately everybody Dodgers have five runs so far in the eighth inning there it is line dri up the middle so this game right now flarity goes five and 2/3 five hits only one earned run he did walk Three which is a season high for him with the Dodgers he did strike out seven he got himself in a couple of pickles and he just looks like he's the pitcher that's under control like we talked about like it's like you'll have those pitchers that get Runners on base like glass now let Runners on base flare let Runners on base but they seem like they're still in control and you don't think that the runner is going to score cuz you think that he's going to induce a double play get a popup strike him out he you think that they can make things happen and flare definitely proved that in this game only giving up one earned run in five two3 let me ask you this do you think he's our number one going into the playoffs as of right now yes he's our number one who's our number two ber I mean we'll see after bu's next start but ber I mean if like we talked about ber if ber figures it out because his the his last start he looked really good if he continues to progress in that direction and keep getting a little bit better and a little bit better better with every single start he could be our second or even our top pitcher if he keeps progressing in the right direction cuz he did that against Baltimore I would have like to have seen him against Arizona but think about this though maybe it's a maybe it's a strategic move if if Walker buer continues to progress in that direction and he never sees Arizona until the playoffs that's good for him that's bad for them you know let me ask you this as far as strategically goes do you would you for your game three starter would you rather have Gavin Stone as your game three starter or would you rather have a buer or a flarity as your game three starter say that again so I've always been cautious of in my head your game three starter and like when say we're down 02 in the series would you ra I mean would you rather have your rookie pitch game two or is game two a bigger must-win game than game three meaning would you rather have your rookie pitch game three or game two I think game two cuz game two is going to be at home CU if right now if the Dodgers stay in first place game two is going to be at home okay so I'd rather have your rookie pitch game two and then I'd have your veteran pitch game three game three in away now what ha now does that worry you if in the playoffs say Gavin Stone doesn't do well we burn through a bullpen we're down 20 going into game three I think Gavin stone is like he looks pretty good I'm just thinking you know rookie playoffs I feel like he's as reliable as anybody else right now I mean he's he's been dominant the last more reliable than Kershaw right now and he's more reliable than Walker beer is right now I I agree now more than flare no I pitched Gavin Stone over Kershaw right now I would too and that's and that's and I'm a I'm a huge Kershaw fan I totally would yeah all right let's talk about the stats of this game currently right now so this is Monday's game still going uh we did we talked to Otani two for three two walks he got three he has three stolen bases currently in this game he might have had a fourth I wasn't paying attention because I was doing this podcast no he got out he's got three stolen bases yeah making it look easy on the base we talked about his bid for 50/50 bets two for four three RB's yes Freddy Freeman he's got two home runs this game five RBI two for three he look like a man on a mission at the plate teoscar Hernandez five for five this game five for five he's got a triple a double two singles I think well he's got a triple a double he's got three singles he was five for five he was one a homer away from the cycle yeah Will Smith two for five Tommy Edmond one for five Miguel Roos one for five uh Chris Taylor two for four the only starter without a hit is Kik Hernandez and he doesn't have a strike out that means he's hitting the baseball hey offense love it keep it up keep it up so far the score is 11 to3 hopefully hopefully the Dodgers win that game because game one of the series the Dodgers had a uh what a six-run league going into the ninth and gave up five runs yeah to almost lose that game so that's how good Arizona is so hopefully they can pull it out well we talked about the last podcast right this is a statement series for us and to me I mean we're going to get out of this thing hopefully three three games three games to one yeah um and to me other than some a few mishaps here and there I think we dominated the series overall with the exception of Kershaw we lost Kershaw early in what game two and then you know wowski you know just well if you think if Kershaw K let's say Kershaw has a bum toe and he actually does really well and he only goes up he goes five innings gives up three runs right that's still better than that's about the same with him know that would be better than what he put up together combined with Joe Kelly because Joe Kelly gave up two earn runs he five blah blah blah whatever so they at least did that the defense played well they win that game easily right if they don't have the blow up in the fifth inning or the ninth inning then the next game if the defense backs up Stone in the beginning of the game and doesn't give up that you know Miss plays in the Outfield we'll call it they win that game easily third game a little bit different because obviously you have a bullpen so you have a little bit stuff to work with with so I don't know it's possible the Dodgers could have gotten the sweep taking three out of four is that's big that's big that means who called I called sweep who called three out of four is that you no I called split two two oh so max had three out of four yeah hey that's awesome taking three out of four against Arizona for as hot as they are right now but then also to put them in their place is great it's great I love it but it also in the long scheme of things means absolutely nothing because if you can't do the same thing in the playoffs nobody's going to care what happened right now I to me this was a this was a after the last several serieses is this was a big series for them to show up and play we were at Arizona right right and like everybody knows how hot Arizona is the hottest team in baseball and we put them in their place in my opinion like uh we came to play offense showed up showed out shout out to the offense good job ke boys and uh I think it was a big statement for them mentally yeah cuz everybody's been talking about Arizona since the All-Star break on the big runs and then we you know we weathered the storm I think uh I think we're looking good moving forward we got Angels coming up next right and then I think Milwaukee Colorado and maybe Atlanta somewhere in there for uh the next setup and serieses yeah you want to you want to touch on Diamondbacks still or you want to jump into the next series what do you I think we've talked enough about Diamondbacks they're scary but the Dodgers handled him now in the regular season last time they're going to play him unless they meet him in the playoffs I hope they don't meet them in the playoffs I okay so they are dangerous as they proved to us in the throughout this year then also with the playoffs last year unfortunately the team that beat us the year prior to that in the playoffs is San Diego and the way things are stacking up you're either going to meet San Diego or you're going to meet Arizona so the bigger question we have to ask ourselves right now who would you rather face would you rather face San Diego or would you rather face Arizona that's a tough call Cuz even though we took three out of four against Arizona they still battled like even when they were down 3 nothing they were up we had I mean we had the game in in my opinion in the bag several times and they kept battling and kept fighting they didn't give up they didn't quit um they're Scrappy but the talent of San Diego is tough like I don't know who I'd rather face what do you guys think what are our listeners think would you rather hear face San Diego or Arizona these are good question cuz I don't know that's a tough call but I do feel pretty good getting out of this series you know playing away um taking three out of four yeah I don't know the answer to that they're both scary teams MH all right let's uh let's uh preview the upcoming Series against the Angels uh that week this uh preview of upcoming series is brought to you by I don't know it's brought to you by Mike okay you can bring it by me it's brought to you by mikee brought to you by me okay uh so the next next upcoming Series against the Angels it's only two games which is I can't stand two game series that makes no sense to me it's it's also why well why did we just play a four game series we could have just played a three- game series and then moved on to another three- game series baseball should not end in a tie all right that means even a four game series I don't like splits you either win a series or you lose a series this should not have happened cuz that's Bo baseball that's why baseball is supposed to be the number one game because you can't end in a tie there's no time limit you can't end in a tie you play until the game is over so I do not like two game series I do not like four game series everything should be a three- game series that's just my opinion we should sweep the Angels though right they're not very good no they're not very good so first game uh you've got uh Walker bu versus Demers Demir yeah uh Walker ber one four it's a 5.88 ra which means nothing to us because of um we're going off of bu's last two starts which he looks really good moving in the right direction so because of the Angels being the angels and I don't have the comparisons because Max didn't put him up on our notes Thanks Max to go over like how bad the Angels hit hitters are but I guarantee you they're not very good so this is another in my opinion rehab started to move Walker bu's um confidence in the right direction so um look Walker beer what I would like to see from him in this series in this game I would like to see him go into the sixth inning he doesn't have to finish the sixth inning but I like to see him go into the sixth inning yeah six strong get six seven K and just be in control of the game meaning just like you know just not feel like it's getting away from him by not pounding the strike zone I feel like that's what's been been hurting him too much is that he's giving hitters more credit than they deserve by pitching away from them when he should be going after them he's still got great movement on his fast ball he's still hidden in like mid 90s High 90s he's got movement on his curve ball is like I think it's a knuckle curve um he if he goes after them he's going to induce soft contact and he's going to get some strikeouts but if he keeps trying to pitch away from them thinking that they're going to like you know blast him he's going to walk hitters and then it's going to put him in a situation where he's pitching against himself so if he can pound the strike zone I think you're going to see another good strong outing of Walker beer and that's what I'd like to see boom what do you think that Mike I like it I think we sweep him we'll be all right we got Bobby Miller pitching on Wednesday Bobby Miller's pitching on Wednesday against canning another right-and pitcher 4 and 12 with an ER of 519 so let's back that up for a second so uh with uh Demir dmer I can't say his last name he's got dmer fine he's got a 6.14 ra and then you're facing canning who's got a 5.19 ra so neither one of these pitchers are amazing but they're going up against two in my opinion still rehabbing pitchers cuz Bobby Miller two for three his ER is 7.25 but did you feel like he had a strong outing last last game Bobby Miller had a strong outing and Bobby Miller was also pounding the strike zone up against a more of a look angels are bottom feeder team as much as you know anybody that's an angel angel fan who want doesn't want me to hear that they're a bottom feeder team they're 57 and8 this is why the Dodgers will always rule La in baseball but the Dodgers the Dodgers also just got done playing one of the best teams in the a in Baltimore and then now they're playing one of the best teams in the National League which is Arizona and they are handling them decently with their bats at least we can say that against Arizona their pitching with the exception of flarity did not really handle them that well but their bats did this pitching by Bobby Miller the way he's been progressing in the right direction same thing with Walker beer I anticipate them the both to come in have good strong outings if Bobby Miller cannot does not have a strong outing against the Los Angeles Wannabe from Anaheim Angels then he's not on the playoff rotation we're going to stop talking about him you're going to move him into the bullpen bottom line because I like there's no reason to if you can't handle the Angels then I don't know what we're talking about I think it's a good test for every team you're going to see that's going to be in the playoffs is twice as good as the angels I think it's a good test for these two coming back from they should handle them and it'll boost your confidence if they both both pitch the way we expect him to hey I want to touch base on we didn't really bring it up but uh Casper casparus was that his first Major League Baseball debut for the Dodgers against Diamondbacks yes I think so he looked pretty good yeah did you get a chance to see him no that's all right I did not that's okay uh our listener Joe brought that up he just shot me a text and said hey what about casparus he say he thought he looked good with his strong outing I didn't get a chance to see his outing I what game did he play in I don't know what game maybe this game could be could have pitch right now no he's got a they had somebody else in there uh Peterson number 90 I don't know who he is but he gave up a solo Homer he's a big dude yeah he is a big dude uh keep an eye for Casper Let's uh max if we can next uh next pod some stats on this guy this his first major league debut and he looked pretty good I think he's a reliever yeah but anyways okay so angels are we going to look forward to the series after the Angels or you want to no I think let's wrap it up on the Angels um I was I expect good strong performances from our starting pitching and I also expect some I expect uh Otani to probably have at least one to two home runs in the series because it's against the Angels it's in Anaheim so it's I think it's his home I mean have we played Anaheim at home yet I don't think we have so it's going to be kind of like a homecoming for him CU last time no last time we played the Angels it was at Dodger Stadium right right I think I'm going to go with that too bad Max can't correct me we haven't played Anaheim this season yes we have we played him twice already no we haven't I'm looking if there's at our schedule we play him in the we did we haven't played the end oh second half sorry it's yeah we played him in the first half find it Mac find it Mike find it Mike anyways I expect big things we played Anaheim at home we lost in 10 on Friday 6:21 3 to2 yeah and then we beat him 7 to2 on Saturday 6:22 glass got the win yeah so this will be a homecoming for Otani at least you know yeah I feel like he's going to have a big big outing I would I expect at least one home run maybe two he'll have at least one St on base maybe two we get him closer to the 50-50 Club it's going to be crazy Mike this is a possibility because of the way this guy hits and the way he steals bases it is possible Mike you listening to me yeah it is possible if T goes on a little bit of a tear this week because of they're playing the angels and then after the angels on Friday we're playing the guardians Guardians are a good team though you think he's gonna get 5050 by the end of the Guardians I mean he could he could be there at least on Stone bases at 50 Mark it's possible if he goes on a tear it's it is possible so then if he hits the 5050 Mark and it's still the first week of September do you start talking 5555 5 6060 I mean I don't want to go that far let's not let's not be a let's not over speculate on this podcast that that's that's insane two five let's see how many games you got left uh two five I'm not gonna do that that's Mike's J or Max's job I'm gonna look at it right now go ahead I'm going to wrap it up unless you really want to know that answer to that no I'm going to tell you so we got one two three games at Cleveland that's five three games with Chicago that's 678 dude Chris Taylor has got his batting average up to 180 now 180 we got about 25 games left 25 games left to get six home runs to get to 50 yeah that's doable that's totally doable like I said he's going to do it unless he gets in a crazy slump or he gets injured all right so we're going to wrap it up Robbie I think we're good to wrap it up all right hey hit that like subscribe button leave us some comments some feedback let us know what you think go feel free to please check out that patreon page patreon.com Roger brain media uh all
