What to expect at the stadium for ASU Sun Devils season opener

Uh you know that sound, that means we're gonna talk a little college football right now because the season will kick off in the desert in just two days. The Sun Devils open up their season against Wyoming this Saturday. We know it's a new season in a brand new conference in a su alum Troy Lynch is joining us live inside of Mountain America Stadium right now, Troy, what can fans expect on game day? I'm looking at the field behind you. It's looking pretty good and ready to go. Yeah, you know, no fresh paint on the field just yet. That's gonna be coming up in the next couple of days, obviously, but fans can expect a lot coming into this new season, obviously, a new season, new conference, new athletic director. So what can we really expect? But we we're gonna bring in the a su senior associate athletic director, Mike mate and Mike, what a year that we're going into right now, obviously, a lot of expectations, but with this brand new football season, you know, what can fans expect before they play Wyoming on game day? Well, I mean, it's not just gonna be a new conference with new opponents. Like we've spent all summer working on trying to make it a new fan experience. You know, we spent a lot of time looking through our, our surveys that we did for our fans at the end of the year and looking at like, what are the, what are the things that they most need? And parking just kept coming up. Right. So we worked really, really hard to reduce the price of parking. So it's now 50% less. We've expanded the amount of lots that they can go to. We've expanded the amount of staff that is helping people get in and out of the lots. We're partnering with the city of Tempe to monitor the traffic flow and the lights uh to try to help that ingress and egress. So we'll see on Saturday and we'll keep working to improve it. But I mean, I think that's a big deal that to really make it easier to get here. Um Another couple of new things that we've done that are a little bit more fun. Uh On the concession side, we, uh we, we partnered with our concessionaire and we're actually gonna have a signature item for every game that's kind of themed after the game. So this Saturday we'll actually have an Elk Bratwurst available. Yes. Yeah, that's gonna be fun. So those are gonna be available on some of the grills on the south side. Uh, next Saturday, which is we play Mississippi State will be an Alligator Poboy. Um So there's just like a lot of really cool stuff with that. Uh And then we expanded our value menu um to make sure again to make things more affordable, more accessible for fans. So we've got five items that are 650 or less. So value hot dog value, soda, value beer. Um We actually made water half price uh for Saturday just because of the, the heat and we wanna make sure everybody stays hydrated when they're out here for the game. Um And actually I should say this because uh we had the value beer last year and I talked about it and we had some fans that had trouble finding it. So the value beer, everybody, it's a draft beer. So you have to just go to the draft stations. Um So I figured I'd cover that since it's I got some flak for it last year, but obviously attendance. So it's a big question mark too, a record number of attendance uh for a su this year, especially with in state students. What, how many fans are we expecting this Saturday expect just under 50,000 fans? Um A lot of it's gonna be a student crowd though because like you said, we've got record enrollment here. Um So we have a chance at actually a record student attendance and a record student attendance is actually bigger than just our student section. So we've got some other seats in the stadium that we're gonna overflow into. As long as we've got some availability, we're just gonna keep getting those students in here. They're gonna bring a ton of energy to that first game. Awesome. We score prediction. I need it. Not gonna do it a smart man. Hey, but Wyoming definitely gonna be a tough opponent, but Mike, thank you so much. We're really excited about the fan experience and also for the football season, hopefully it's been better than the last two years, but we're really excited for it. But kickoff is gonna be Saturday at 730 right here with some fresh paint guys. I'm really excited about this. It's gonna be a good football season. It's definitely gonna be a lot better and I can't wait. You know, I can tell Mike, I feel like when he mentioned the beer, he looked right at us. I'm taking that bike. I'm telling you where the beer beer is, you know, it's ok that he didn't give us a score prediction because he told us where to find the value beer and the food too. So cool. It's a great options.
