Jordan Love's Injury Crisis: Will the Packers Rely on Malik Willis in Week 2?

on Sunday the Green Bay Packers faced a significant setback when quarterback Jordan love was injured during the final moments of the fourth quarter love went down after a tackle and was seen favoring his knee a subsequent diagnosis revealed that love had suffered an MCL injury but fortunately it is not a season ending injury in fact it appeared that love was determined to make a return this week however that possibility is now looking increasingly doubtful Packers head coach Matt floor addressed reporters today providing an update on Love's condition unfortunately love missed his second consecutive practice casting doubt on his availability for week two heat love is going to do everything he can to be out there we'll give him the week lefur said at his press conference despite Love's eagerness to overcome his injury and play for the Packers on Sunday it might be wiser to allow him an additional week of rest while love may have avoided significant damage to his MCL playing this week could potentially worsen his condition if love is ruled out for week two the Packers will turn to Malik Willis laflor revealed that love has been using every opportunity to Mentor Willis in case he needs to start on Sunday Willis spent the 2022 and 2023 Seasons with the Tennessee Titans after being drafted 86th overall in the 2022 NFL draft he was expected to be the successor to Ryan tanah Hill and had opportunities to secure the job during his rookie season however his debut was Rocky in week two of the 2022 season after tanah Hill was benched Willis completed just one of four passes his final stats for that game were six passing yards and 16 rushing yards Willis got another shot in week eight when he was named starter due to tanah Hill's illness he finished that game 6 for 10 with 55 yards and one interception the Packers might be concerned about having Willis at the helm this Sunday given his limited starting experience this may also explain why love is pushing to return though it would be better for him to allow his injury to heal more fully [Music]
