touchdown you said it James I thought it was a touchdown I thought it was a touchdown I still think it's a touchdown I Don't Really T you I'm we going to talk about emotions you know you're disappointed you know you thought I mean I don't know what it looked like on the replay so I can't say but uh really couldn't tell on the big screen you guys probably had a better Viewpoint of it so I'd say this is probably the worst game we going to play all year so if this is the best that they got I mean good luck in the postseason all right Daman Woody what it's Johnny United spart star Terry Brad saww Joe Montana your boy Tom Brady Patrick Mahomes this league has always been built about the quarterback taking his team down the field in the big spots winning championships winning Thursday night football games to begin the season give me your ey uh your total perspective on Lamar Jackson here he's bringing his team down the field a couple opportunities were there what did you see from Lamar yeah Lamar definitely had his cap on a night bchi he like listen inches and clearly we saw that with the with that last player to Isaiah likele but down the stretch two or three passes there at the end could have put them in the end zone what did you see from those plays yeah I think the one that really stood out what was the one with Z flowers he was clearly wide open in the end zone really ped about the fans and the whole atmosphere of the opening night game what a wild environment down there it was uh two heavyweights in a fight right down to the end and when they say it's a game of inches it might be shorter than that I think everybody accepts everybody in this offense and um they learned so much from Trav um he and they pick they pick his brain and they listen to him talk to me and um we build all throughout the year and you can see Rasheed just kind of picked up right where he left off last year Xavier made some big plays um and so it's just we're going to continue to build and building and hopefully get Hollywood back and uh see what this offense can really be it's funny Dam you know we began this segment talking about quarterbacks Terry Bradshaw had the same wide receiver same running back same tight end for four Super Bowls in six years here's Patrick momes a new cast he's got to deal with how do you do that what did you see yeah we saw some of the Y saw some of the speed obviously rookie Xavier were always and they found enough plays to go out here and win this football game yeah it really did have a playoff feel that does usually happen with the opening night game but man this was a hard- hitting Affair usually get that with the Ravens Damen Woody thank you very much and obviously we have a lot more from the NFL to come Dak has a few thoughts on what could be his final season in Dallas and then Aaron Rogers will he certainly talk in the talk before his return but will he be able to walk the walk and we're going to go one-on-one with eagles with with the I think the obvious these are two excellent football teams that we presume we will see late into the winter into the playoffs Fair absolutely okay so the so the results gets is it is it it'll be forgotten perhaps as as time goes on but if you're the Ravens you're like man they're an inch away from being able to go for two and get the victory I want to ask you about the flowers play because he was wide what happens on that play from what you saw it's almost like a scramble drill Scott like usually you know those type of plays are practiced where the quarterback is running around and then at this point in the game man you're just you're trying to do whatever you can to try to try to win the thing and it's hard to explain unless you've been on the field and I've been standing there waiting for games to end you have 22 enormous human beings in a tiny little tiny little plot of land it's hard to find room I give Kansas City a ton of credit because it seemed that largely they were able to keep Lamar off of his ability to make ons scheduled throws so much of the the completed pass tonight were were improvisational that's that's the credit to Kansas City's secondary is it not absolutely but Lamar Jackson had his cape on ton night like Lamar Jackson had literally like 400 yards of offense just by himself and you know we talked about in in the in during the game how you know in the AFC Championship Game how Lamar Jackson didn't really utilize his legs enough well I think that that he put that to bed early and often tonight because we saw that in this game the the Baltimore Ravens had three new starters on the offens line they struggled some in pass protection but Lamar Jackson was just utilizing his legs left and right in this game this was one of the plays where that I mean let's it could be the offensive line it could also be the fact that Jones is in that front for Kansas City who that that's such an underappreciated part of what makes them great is that that defense um but they were able to get that fumble there but Baltimore's defense held him to three they they were able to largely keep Kansas City from getting away from them but how about Xavier worthy a rookie out of Texas I mean you hear about speed guys right right okay but let's let's see what it looks like right Saturday and Sunday they only separated by a couple hours on the calendar but it's it's very different what did you see in terms of Kansas City's ability to implement his speed into what they want to do well so much we talk a bigger and bigger impact because again the one thing you can't teach is speed and that's what he's going to bring to the table on this offense the touchdown didn't count for the Ravens but they're so aggressive and it's it cost them a couple years ago they rolled the dice and they they crapped out in a number of occasions but they've shown this is what we're going to do how do you do you endorse that that philosophy because that immediately and again they didn't get to go for two because the the toe of likely is on the line we're going for two we're trying to get out of here with a du you like that in this instance I love it because you're on the road you on the road you've clawed yourself back you essentially tied the game and in this situation why not go for the win I think that's what most coaches would do in a situation instead of playing for overtime again you're on the road against the defending world champions let's go out here put it put the ball in your in your best players hand in Lamar Jackson I mean that's literally like his bunion just over the line right there man got to have bun have blage all right uh John Harbaugh spoke just moments ago we'll come back to some more conversation from the Victoria side of the Chiefs as for the Ravens this close from having a chance to try to steal the win but no good hardfought football game uh very exciting football game a lot of a lot of lot of back and forth uh I'm proud of the way our guys played you know I fought the way we competed uh the the challenges that we face just by the situation of the game and all the things going on around the game and obviously the challenge that are our opponent presents us which is a great opponent and uh and then the the adversity throughout the course of the game is a challenge I thought our guys uh you know met met all those things all those setbacks at times and uh and uh and fought like crazy to overcome it you know and looked like we had an opportunity there to to to tie the game up or or try to win it with a two point conversion so uh didn't happen at the end but uh proud of the way the guys fought we're only going to get better from here on out and I'm looking forward to that I'm really looking forward to getting back to work next week and getting ready for the Raiders John just starting with obviously Isaiah just was huge for you guys all the night even battled back to get on the field that last possession what did you see out of him and what you tell him after coming so close oh I think Isaiah played just a great football game a courageous game I made so many plays especially down the street stretch play after play I put Lamar obviously in the same category uh all those guys I mean those guys were making plays and fighting the offensive line I thought did a heck of a job out there a lot of question marks that you know the pundits and the prognosticators had about the offensive line saying that with that offensive line we couldn't do anything and uh to see the way they went out there and played against that defense I thought was pretty impressive and that's a challenge especially in this environment communication and there's going there were there were problems on both sides uh but uh I thought Isaiah played a great football game I was proud of him and a lot of other guys too John what are kind of emotions though at the end of the game when you feel like okay you've tied the game and then you're told no I don't really thought I'm going to talk about emotions you know you're disappointed you you thought I mean I don't know what it looked like on the replay so I can't say but uh really couldn't tell on the big screen you guys probably had a better Viewpoint of it so so much of of the the bulk of the game right now gets lost because of how it ended but when Baltimore goes back and they put on the tape and they look at the amount of flags that they had thrown at their feet for formational penalties what what were you seeing as a guy who made us living up there on the line trying to get lined up you're shaking your head I mean what what was all that about it's a whole new world Scott what is it it like get your behind up there on the line of scrimmage because for so long you know and I obviously played offensive tackle play on the offensive line you would kind of creep back a little bit more a little bit more to buy yourself some time against some of these Premier Edge rushes where now you know it seems like the league is is trying to reset a little reset things a little bit and give those defense the guys a little bit of an advantage here well but it I'm sure Baltimore is going to say didn't they do it also oh yeah well it didn't get didn't get flag nearly as much on Kansas City did it well listen it might be a little bit of home cooking there I'm not saying that I'm just saying it might be I'm just saying it might be might under lot but I mean there were it look it's everybody's excited that the NFL's back and it's an incredible game with two great teams I do think it's reasonable to say that at some point the ref show in this game was a bit excessive you agree uh yeah I think they were trying to send a message and and that that feels reasonable in a sense that you just want to let everybody know hey look we're we're calling this I mean you know everyone's watching this tonight so dudes that play from left tackle to right tackle across the NFL like yo make sure that we're lined up correctly right yeah I listen moving forward I'm like I don't want to be that guy I don't want to be that guy you know especially tomorrow you know with the Prime Time game down in Brazil you don't want to be the guy that's that's getting called out okay so we're Baltimore comes this close there's a bunch of penalties this and that Kansas City won the football game let's not let's not lose that for one second they they have potentially a star in the making and worthy certainly a guy whose speed is going to translate but I just we talked about this as we watched them and this is where I land with the Chiefs they were really pedestrian last year for about a month and change lost four of six lost at home three times then they got to the playoffs and nobody was yelling louder than me let's see momes go on the road then he went to Buffalo went to Baltimore they beat the Dolphins the bills the Ravens and the Niners in a row and and it's like are there any questions not for me no and so I it almost doesn't matter to me what they do I'm just going to presume that they're going to be just fine to great and a night like tonight to me just shows you how difficult it is to beat them at all like what's your sense of who the Chiefs are as they try to make a third straight Super Bowl and win it so it reminds me so much of the like New England days where you know we were just so dominant we would find all different types of ways not smile we had on Monday night not as big a smile as you had Monday night when Bon College get went down to do and got a dub but I mean look you lived it when you knew our best is you got no shot to beat but maybe our our B minus game is not you can't touch that too what's that like well we are you know I thought it was a touchdown but I still think it's a touchdown Yar also 12 targets for Isaiah just what what goes in that connection and how did you kind of see him beside from the last play really oh man he was just open and I seing um U um I don't want to get it wrong but it looked like 32 and 20 was like turning to like pursue him when he realized where the ball was going so I I thre it so he can like make a play on it just so I don't thought it like a line job to hit him in the face mask and they turn around and pick the ball so I gave him gave him the ball so he can jump a little bit but I thought he did a great job acrobatic catch and I believe it was two feet in I'm I'm stand on that Lamar The Press Box is in the cloud so it's hard to see what's going on there to play before to flowers did that ball get tipped out of your hand or was that just just no actually it was uh I went scrum I see Chris Jones was on uh justice Hill Justice Hill was blocking Chris Jones so I was trying to help Justice out and I try to get out of pocket and I seen baitman like flying across so I'm thinking baitman gonna stop and as I'm throwing the ball I see Zade flying across I'm like can't that wasn't attended for uh uh Z flowers so yeah I was I was I was teed off about that cuz I'm like if I would have held on to a little bit more I would have just fed to Z for the tou didn't see it the very end yeah like when I threw the ball I seen him I'm like like I want to say something else but I'm like damn like happens wow that pass actually not intended for Z flowers all right from the disappointment to the winning coach it's Andy Reid these injuries here so they came out with um with ourselves in pretty good shape um everybody that got ding there a little bit uh finished uh McDuffy in um mik Dana and Leo so they all uh were able to return and and play thank uh thank you to the fans they were they were great today as they always are but um what a what a wild environment down there it was uh two heavy weights in a fight right down to the end and when they say it's a game of inches it might be shorter than that so um again uh def defensively I I love the way the guys reach down and push themselves through uh the game Justin Reed coming up with nine tackles um between Felix and or 95 he um they were able to recover the fumble some of these guys didn't have a lot of practice reps so they they had to push themselves as they went here so um 95 being one of them um McDuffy again big fourth down stop Leo was all over the place we had him spying on the quarterback and that's a challenge in itself um he's he's really good football player um and moves around quite a little bit Watson again um had eight tackles and a pass break up there uh offensively you know I love when we can uh mention Lyn Dawson um uh what a great player he was and Pat was able to pass him up for the all-time yardage Mark but um that's not taking anything away from Lynn he spectacular football player uh our number four Rashid was um had a big night so no sophomore slump there and then um Pacho I mean this thing goes on and on here Pacho had 45 tough yards that's a physical football team and and he battled uh through that and he ended up with a touchdown there and then Xavier coming out as a rookie and having a touchdown a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown um that that was that was beautiful so and then finally arza our punter had a good night so welcome to Kansas City and he sure did a nice job anyways with that pretty much went through the roster there Andy Andy happy Baltimore game of benches although Lamar city thought it was a touchdown wasn't touchdown his foot was out of bounds right Isaiah likely's got some the Green Bay Packers in the Philadelphia Eagles face each other in the south H Brazil first game in South America NFL history both teams coming off playoff appearances last season though it went pretty different for each once they got there and each team taking a unique look at this opening game of the season it's awesome experience once in a lifetime experience playing first ever NFL game here in Brazil so uh that's awesome um it's been nothing but love since we got here uh fans were at the airport last night they're at the hotel so uh definitely a lot of love and I'm excited to see what the atmosphere is like in the stadium tomorrow I'm a kid from you know East Houston that used to play this game in the streets um any piece of grass I can find I go throw the ball around and really just enjoy the game the love for the game and just having the opportunity to come this far and in this journey and to be where we are I think is I just have my spirit is full of gratitude I'm going to say that to the Brazilian crowd we're we're so excited to be here make sure you're as loud as possible when Green Bay has the ball and then when the Eagles have the ball make sure like this is a sign to be like this is Fly Eagles Fly and quiet down a little bit two teams and their quarterbacks were heading in different directions in the second half of last season as the Packers won six of eight Jordan love leading the NFL and qbr during that span Jaylen Herz in Philadelphia struggled as hers had eight touchdowns against seven picks in the final two months of the season been here almost 25 years never knew I would say this but I'm about to now s pal from s Pao on the eve of the first NFL game in South America I caught up one-on-one with a guy who made it all possible NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and we channeled an old friend of ours to get in the mood Roger I'm going to go Chris Burman on you okay my mentor Roger we're in Brazil can you believe it no but it you know it's it's been so long we've been looking forward to doing this and uh to be here is exciting for all of us to be able to play a Friday night game and start our season in a big big weekend for us a kickoff weekend this is really a great way to do it we've been playing in Mexico for a long time we see that passion I think the same passion is here in in Brazil and so we're not here just for one year we're here to to really make a difference over a number of years well the lead up to this football game has has been exciting there snap crackle pop in the air the stadium is decked out as you can see the Eagles were out on the field a local flag football team greeted them even the owner of the local football team or soccer as we call it came out for all the festivities but hey I'm here you can't have an NFL game in sou pal without sou pal D what how about do we what are we doing uh Damen Woody is back these two teams I think they were both playoff teams and I I want Philadelphia fans to hear me I'm not saying y'all were garbage you weren't but if I say that the Packers are heading in One Direction which is it seems progressing and it seems that the Eagles are heading in another Direction which is regressing I don't think that's incorrect but how significant a game is this for Philly to kind of pump the brakes on any idea that they're fading away I think it's a big game I I think you know because sometimes what what happens last season can have carry over into the into The Following season and I think for Philadelphia you know you you've changed the coordinators you got say qu Barkley I think a putting a statement type game early on week one would do a lot to dispill the kind of negative energy that that basically follow this team all you know from last season all throughout the offseason and I I found it amazing frankly that the way it kept getting away from them and we were there for countdown on a Monday night in Seattle where it just it felt like okay this is not a Get Right game but this be a tough win but it felt like they were going to get it and then Drew lock leads a kind of surprising late game drive and they Jack uh Smith and jigu makes a catch and you're like I'll be damn they lost again and it just kept happening and it was amazing they couldn't put pump the brakes on that but if you can flush it and and look forward fine but but how difficult is that to to let not let what happened linger well you said you know with the new year everything's a new okay now if I'm if I'm Green Bay's new defensive coordinator Jeff Halley what are you doing I'm bringing the house I'm lighting up jayen hert right off the top okay because I want to see if if they've learned from what really ailed them last year Jaylen hert struggled mightily against the blitz now inter in new offensive coordinator Kell Moore let's see if he gives Jaylen Herz the answers to the test when team starts blitzing because guess what the NFL is a copycat League sure okay just because you know we're in the new season doesn't mean that teams aren't going to see if you solve the problems from from the year prior and if you're Philly you're trying to you're trying to flush last year if I'm Green Bay I'm thinking all right we gave we gave our guy his money cuz he earned it and the way he played late you go down to Dallas and whooped their butt in a playoff game and probably should have or certainly you could say could have beaten San Francisco in a in a playoff game and so that's gone too but as they try to build right how significant were those steps in and where they want to ultimately go what they did late last year huge it was huge because Green Bay had the youngest set of skill position players in the National Football League we always talk about yeah Year from like year one to year two growth I'm not I'm not even talking about Jordan love the quarterback I'm talking about all those young wide receivers that the Green Bay Packers have think how much better they going to be this year the experience that they had in the playoffs last year when they played the Dallas Cowboys on the road the S took it took the San Francisco 49ers to the brink that's why people are so bullish on the Green Bay Packers this year heading to the season and you look at the NFL where there's like there's true wide receiver ones all over the place you look at and you could say maybe love made Reed and Wix and dos and Watson when he's healthy like any of those guys could hurt you look I think I mean that that's a very very intriguing team you see all the people prognosticating there's a lot of people saying maybe Green Bay might make a Deep Run all right another game to get to Monday night football kicks off season 54 in the Bay Area on Monday night Aaron Rogers and the Jets fly West to take on the ners Rogers infamously did not make it out of the last Ser first series I should say last season on a Monday night here is the now 40-year-old future gold jacket man in Canton on making it past the early snaps of the Season yeah I mean there might be a little smirk after the fourth one I don't know we'll see I'm sure they'll catch it you know but I'm in a good mind uh mind space kind of goes back to the prove it uh who would I need to prove to just myself at this point so but I have a lot of pride in my performance so when I take the field I expect greatness and because I've done it before and and so that's kind of a standard to hold myself to obviously we've had our battles over the years man I love competing against Aaron happy to see him back healthy the ability to extend plays to make the big plays um you know keep control of the game obviously make the plays in The Big Time moments he's one of the greatest of all time for a reason so he can do it all we overuse the word fast fasinating in this business but this game is that to me because of all that's on the ners plate they've been so close so close so close eventually you got to kick the door down but it's impossible to ignore what what's there staring at you the giant storyline of Rogers and I wonder at 40 has Brady and LeBron just made us forget that when you're 40 something like and LeBron's not there yet but like you're not supposed to just go out and be great is Rogers just do we just assume he's going to walk out of the tunnel and be MVP Rogers well first of all I don't think Aaron Rogers has forgotten how to play football I didn't say he did I didn't say he did but it's a lot to just think a guy coming off at ailles at 40s can just go be yeah I think a listen I've said many of times Aaron Rogers doesn't have to be MVP Aaron Rogers for this team to be very successful this team I think you look at this Jess roster it's one of the best rosters in the National Football League Elite defense Garett Wilson a wide receiver who I think is going to be a superstar Breece Hall in the backfield one of the best in the National Football League rebuild offensive line Scott the just had arguably the worst quarterback play in the National Football League last year and they still won seven games if Aaron roders is anything close to what we've been accustomed to seeing this team is going to be scary it wasn't arguably they were they were it was they were buns all right I was sitting here trying to not be rude and then I just called him buns it was it was so so poor yes and yet they still largely competed because that defense is all right the Dallas Cowboys haven't won a Super Bowl in over 28 years remember kids it's not what you've done it's how popular you are that matters that's why we talk about them so much Nicole they continue their quest for their first Super Bowl this Century uh at Cleveland Ohio time 425 325 Dallas time this is year five of the Mike McCarthy era Dak still needs a new deal and Todd Archer is our Dallas reporter with the Cowboys there is no deadline to the talks between the Cowboys and Dak Prescott regarding a contract extension if it happens before Sunday Prescott things there could be a benefit to all those involved if not Prescott said I'm still going to be working that's the only thing that matters Prescott can stay in the present even as the millions hang in the balance I've never played the game for that um I play the game for for the pure love for the guys in that locker room um yes this game has always brought me something that that not a lot of things in life do that this type of peace that it does just being out there in between the lines with people that that you share a Brotherhood um you share a Brotherhood with yeah some that just special about this game of football and we're just blessed that that money comes with it and I'm in the position that I'm in that we can be having these conversations but that doesn't motivate me what motivates him is winning a Super Bowl with the Cowboys he said I don't think winning it any other place would be the same as winning it here at the star in Frisco Texas Todd Archer ESPN Prescott missed most of the 2020 season with an injury and since then it's been a lot of regular season highs and postseason lows for the Cowboys they're the only team since the merger in 1970 to have three straight 12 win Seasons without reaching a conference Championship game in any of those Seasons been a fair amount of disappointment in New York as well but oh they're ready for takeoff the Jets are jets ners the first Monday Night Football game of the season and the story lines are plentiful from Aaron Rogers making his returned from injury and expecting nothing less than greatness to the ners and their heartbreak on the final play of the final game of last season and then there were the events with Nick peol just this week for more on all of it we start with Nick Wagner it was quite a sight just a few minutes into Thursday's practice when rookie receiver Ricky peaw strolled onto the field tossing a football to himself he spent the next 20 minutes watching his teammates participate in individual drills just about an hour earlier coach Kyle Shanahan called it a miracle noting that peol had been shot just about 2 Ines below a tattoo of preying hands that sits on the right side of his chest peaw is expected to take this week before returning to training next week two more important Returns on Thursday Trent Williams and Brandon auk both of whom have settled their contract disputes and return to practice they are expected to play on Monday but how much they play play depends on how the rest of the week goes according to Shanahan finally running back Christian mcaffrey who has been dealing with a calf and a kill's injury that kept him out during training camp is back at practice on a limited basis during the portion open to Media he was moving with little to know limitations in Santa Clara Nick Wagner ESPN Aaron Rogers is a man he's 40 the oldest player in the NFL and he and the Jets will face those niners on ESPN's Monday Night Football two days shy of the one-year anniversary of his torn Achilles that happened on the fourth snap of the first game last year on Monday night the Jets and Rogers are expecting a lot this year I've always kind of played with something on my shoulder you got to you know manufacture things from time to time but uh yeah I mean it kind of goes back to to prove it uh who would I need to prove to just myself at this point so but I have a lot of pride in my performance so when I take the field I expect greatness and because I've done it before and and so that's kind of a standard I hold myself to the Damen Woody is back with us now Aaron Rogers is 40 he's returning this season from a torn Achilles those are facts an opinion here from Rogers himself is that he is expecting greatness what are you expecting I'm expecting greatness out of Aaron Rogers as well you don't trade for a Rogers if you don't expect Aaron Rogers to perform at the highest of levels and put your team in contention to win a Super Bowl and so when you look at Aaron roders he's had you know a lot of time to to Really rehabilitate that that Achilles um look like he's moving well they've upgraded the offensive line he has a defense that backs him up so this is an ideal situation for Aaron roders to do a lot of damage this upcoming season all right it's also a big time right now obviously for his former team yes it's week one but they are in Brazil to take on the Eagles the first game ever to be played for the NFL in South America it's Eagles it's Packers let's just take one team at a time give me one thing to watch for each of them starting with Green Bay yeah the thing I'm watching with with Green Bay is new defensive coordinator Jeff Halley and how he's going to get that that side of the ball worked out you know there's a lot of talent a lot of high draft picks on that side of the football I want to see how aggressive they are on the defensive side of the football because we know the talent that the Green Bay Packers have on the on the offensive side of the football and when we talk about the Philadelphia Eagles can they overcome that bad juju that bad karma that they had at the end of last season where they seem like they couldn't do anything right on on either side of the football obviously we know that they switch uh coordinators on both sides Kell Moore being the offenser new offensive coordinator can he give Jaylen hurz the answers to the test when it comes to the blitz because that's one area he mightily struggled last season no bad juju especially when you have Damen Woody Juju you have to say it with like weird fingers we'll see you later [Music] spee foree fore spee [Music] foree fore foree spee fore foreign fore fore
