JD Payne, Markella Kavenagh, Megan Richards reveal EXCITING details on The Rings of Power Season 2

Oney I often see um narratives or stories or just The Narrative of our society that women are out to get each other kind of and they often pitted against each other and what's really amazing is that as you say we hear a lot of like the bromance and and men really sticking up and standing by each other and that also happens in real life with women and with people is that there is so many strong relationships that exist in society that sometimes just aren't reflected in in the media as much not to write literature of alienation um but he wrote what he called a fairy story um and he was able to find Hope even in the darkest of times um and uh you know so yes season 2 does go darker and it is scarier there are more monsters there's more dangerous battles there more psychological you know sort of depth and and and darkness but it also is balanced um with hope and with with light as well hello everybody I'm Rani and welcome to zoom Speak Easy I'm in Singapore to chat with these absolutely fantastic people JD Payne responds to the criticism they received for ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ season 1 of course I am with the team of rings of power season 2 and this is so exciting uh it's been a while we've met how have you been good how are you good my first question for you jie um you know of course the the the first season got so much love um and people have been wanting to see this world expand into so much more um but they've always questioned that fine that do we get more of the book in the in the season to as well and I feel like you have tried to do a lot of that um but again you always wanted to create a world of your own as well tell me how that conflict volves in your writing season 2 because now you've gotten the love and the criticism and I know someone like you would like to get hear both sides sure yeah and and really there's not a lot of conflict in in my mind uh toen in a letter to one of his editors wrote that he wanted to create an expansive mythology that left room for other minds and hands wielding paint and music and drama to come after him and keep on expanding so we feel like we have taken up what the professor wanted um and have continued to expand Middle Earth out into new and and exciting places um and uh so it's been uh really wonderful to to get to to jump in and and work in a world that people have so much love for and that we have so much love for um and in terms of Canon event season 2 um there's going to be a lot that's I think people will be very excited to see um season one was all about bringing people to the second age and bringing them to Middle Earth and um season two now um one of the big things we're doing is going to Aron which we teased a little bit in season one but um now that's the really one of the big main Central spines of season two is we get to see anatar you know saon IND disguise um manipulating Kell bmore um first he sort of seduces him and then he he eventually gaslights him and and JD Payne : This season is darker and scarier but it’s also balanced out with hope and other emotions drives him to Madness um it's a dark story um it's a psychological Thriller um and uh we're fortunate to have Charlie ewards and Charlie Vickers who play it absolutely amazingly so I think it's a Canon story that like people have been waiting to see for the siege of oron it's a three episode battle that the season climax is in um so really strap in I mean it starts fast and and then goes goes like a shot from there so you feel like the Book Lovers this time are going to feel like h i mean we hope so yeah I you know we put our hearts s into this for years now so yeah absolutely um well talking about this JD is it always more exciting for the writers particular to have material that when it goes darker because you know you can play with so much more I want to know how that thing changes in the writers room um yeah I mean we're not really about Darkness for Darkness sake I know um you know and one of the things we love about talking is and I think it's embodied in in these two wonderful actors is sitting to to my left here are um is uh there's always heart and there's always hope uh even in the darkest times remember that the these Works were born in the trenches of World War I some of the darkest experiences Humanity has ever had um you know but token decided not to write literature of alienation um but he wrote what he called a fairy story um and he was able to find Hope even in the darkest of times um and uh you know so yes season 2 does go darker and it is scarier there are more monsters there's more dangerous battles there's more psychological you know sort of depth and and and darkness but it also is balanced um with hope and with with with light as well fantastic very well answered uh Mar Megan what I love about this is the fact that the Friendship continues the bond is only going darker and I think um you know in the time when they're always trying to say um you know it's the men who have bro bromances more I think like no the bonding with women are very very strong Markella : There is certain narrative in the society about women being against each other . The strong bond that women share is not often reflected in the media because uh I think uh I think women bond in healing and Trauma and and all of that together I want you to kind of draw that parallel with what to go through in the show and in in what happens with women in um you know in the reality yeah wow that's a great question Markella Kavenagh and Megan Richards open up about the friendship of their onscreen characters and their bond off-screen yeah I was just thinking as you said that I don't often see I often see um narratives or stories or just The Narrative of our society that women are out to get each other kind of and they're often pitted against each other and what's really amazing is that as you say we hear a lot of like the Bromance and and men really sticking up and standing by each other and that also happens in real life with women and with old people is that there are so many strong relationships that exist in society that sometimes just aren't reflected in in the media as much and um it is really wonderful to be able to be a part of that with nor the norian puppy storyline because they do they they don't only stand by each other but they really challenge each other they don't agree on everything they really argue in in their own way in like a light-hearted way but they take each other 's aspirations and and feelings really seriously and so it's really exciting to be able to portray what what feels to me like a very truthful friendship uh on screen yeah no I agree and I mean that's a great question also what's lovely about this season I think is that you know Poppy and I think so say Nori as well have both they've got individual um yeah like growths and paths that they're sort of following but what they're doing is they're doing it side by side um and as marela said you know they challenge each other because you know when you're sort of experiencing your own personal growth alongside your friends you kind of I think they kind of miss each other at some moments um but that doesn't mean that that love and the foundation that they have that like that is still there and that will always be there for the rest of time um and you know I have lots of incredibly strong female friendships in my own personal life um and I can see the truthfulness of that embedded in Poppy and nor ship very well put okay this is my last segment unfortunately but I'm going to make a little fun uh this might be easier for JD but let's see okay I call this guess who I call this guess who I'm going to tell you a dialog no pressure uh yeah no pressure just fun I call this guess who it is basically you'll have to tell me the character who's saying the line and from which season yes you will definitely be that's what I said I think it feel little unfair but okay I have to quickly this uh but we're going to give it a shot you never know we're all fans of the show so let's see let's see all right are you ready yes you just pick up a hand like this if you know it okay okay and that person JD is so confident okay this is an easy one an evil ancient and Powerful has returned um you can have to pick up your hand I could actually hear him say I could do the impression of how he says it put your hand up J an evil ancient and Powerful has returned o Arthur it's FR dur amazing 100% correct and a plus one for that two points for Jour not just Oney another one okay okay okay okay hear this one I'm rooting for you too I'm okay okay alone it's just a journey now Adventures they must be shared you know that come on he says it to you no yeah yeah yeah okay J no no it's the stranger yes you'll have to De me with season season one yeah I know but I'm just like let's see okay thank you but a little help but sure we'll give it no no I didn't I didn't I to's just very excited okay okay all right it's like a volleyball you know I knew I looked at the both of you and said this one you got to get it sometimes to find the light we must first touch Darkness oh isn't that you want to put your hand sorry isn't that glads yes yeah she but she's quoting finrod her brother oh yes but we'll give it to her yeah thank you I at this point all three's got one point so clap for all of you okay J did have like a little bit of a but no done well thank you so much can we do something for Indian fans just say Namaste India lots of love means B so we say Namaste India and say B okay okay Nam India thank you so much B and thank you so much it was so much fun and I'm looking forward to watching all the episodes thank you thank you [Music] [Music]
