Hello everyone, friends. Now it's Chaos' turn. I would like to tell you about a wonderful series blended between critical and black comedy concepts about the Mesopotamian and Greek gods, which we always try to explain. It premiered on August 29 and consists of 8 episodes. Of course, I watched it in every detail. Even though the series had a name that was enough to keep me away from it, I still decided to watch it. and after watching it, I was literally shocked and couldn't hide my surprise and of course I can say it's amazing. They have structured it so clearly and hierarchically that you can easily see many of the realities I have explained about the Sumerian gods and Greek gods. You can see how fictional the chain chaos events that the world is in and frequently experiences can be if desired. Of course, there will be those who say that this is a production adapted for television and that it should not be taken too seriously, but still, when you see that the information you have acquired has been processed one by one, one is seriously surprised. So, let's start by briefly discussing what is in the series in terms of definition, and then let's start explaining without giving too many spoilers or trying not to give them away, friends. The series, or rather the production, basically takes place between Greek gods and people. Of course, people are helpless in every sense and tend to worship. The ones we call gods include Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Dionysus, Hades, Medusa, Prometheus and a few more names that we often hear from Greek mythology, but generally the story arc takes place among these names. As you know, before Greek mythology, there was Mesopotamian mythology, that is, Mesopotamian gods, and then the names changed and became Greek mythology. According to Sumerian mythology, the opposite of Zeus is Enlil, the opposite of Poseidon is Enki, and of course, the most important of these is Chronos, and according to Sumerian mythology, he is Anu. So, let's take a look at who exactly these so-called gods are and what their duties are. Zeus; In Greek mythology, he is the god of the sky, lightning, thunder, law and order. As the most powerful god of Mount Olympus, he is considered the king of gods and men. Zeus, the youngest son of Kronos and Rhea, became the ruler of Olympus after overthrowing his father Kronos. Its symbols include lightning, an eagle, and an oak tree. He is the father of many important gods and goddesses in Greek mythology. Hera; Hera is the goddess of marriage, family, women, birth and fidelity. And of course, you will see that it has nothing to do with loyalty in the series, or loyalty may mean something different to them as we understand it. Hera, the wife and sister of Zeus, is known as the queen of the gods. Hera, the daughter of Kronos and Rhea, is known as the queen of the gods on Mount Olympus. Its symbols include the peacock, which you will see in many places in the series, the pomegranate and the lion. Hera is a very powerful figure, especially on marriage and women's rights. Poseidon; Poseidon is the god of the seas, earthquakes and horses. He is known as the ruler of oceans and seas. Poseidon, the son of Kronos and Rhea, is the brother of Zeus and Hades. It is known by its trident symbol. And it represents the power of the seas. He is also believed to be the creator of horses. Dionysus; Dionysus is the god of wine, entertainment, enthusiasm, theater and agriculture. He is also known as the god of madness and excess. Dionysus, the son of Zeus, is a half-human, half-god figure. It is often symbolized by vineyards, wine glasses and theatrical masks. Dionysus is known for teaching people about wine, and his cult had a wide place in the ancient Greek world and spread throughout the world. Hades, you know this name. Hades is the god of the underworld and the dead. He rules the souls of the dead and is also the ruler of underground riches (minerals and precious stones). Hades, the son of Kronos and Rhea and the brother of Zeus and Poseidon, rules the underworld. He is usually recognized by the invisibility helmet he wears on his head and his two-pronged staff. Hades is married to Persephone, whom he kidnapped to the underworld. These gods are central figures in Greek mythology, and each has power and authority in different areas. Let's briefly talk about Medusa, whom you know well. Medusa; Medusa is one of the most famous Gorgons in Greek mythology. Medusa, who was initially a beautiful young woman, later turned into a terrible creature. He has a hairstyle full of snakes that causes anyone who sees him to turn to stone. Actually, this seems quite mysterious. Medusa was cursed by Athena for being with Poseidon in Athena's temple, that's the thing. As a result of this curse, Medusa's beauty turned into a terrible creature, her hair turned into snakes and she gained the ability to turn people to stone with her gaze. Medusa was killed by the hero Perseus. Perseus used the bright shield given by Athena to kill Medusa. This shield was used to see Medusa's reflection and avoid looking directly at her. After Perseus beheaded Medusa, he used her as a weapon because even though her head was dead, it still had the power to petrify. Medusa is often associated with danger and death, but can also be interpreted as a symbol of female power and anger. His transfiguration and eventual death play an important role in mythological narratives. This is the situation. Let's briefly try to take a look at the details of the series by considering its identity. Created by Charlie Covell, the series blends comedy, fantasy and drama, plunging the gods of Olympus into an existential crisis with potentially terrifying consequences. Featuring a prestigious cast including Jeff Goldblum as Zeus, Janet McTeer as Hera, and Nabhaan Rizwan as Dionysus, KAOS offers a bold retelling of ancient myths in which the immortals prove to be as vulnerable as the mortals they are supposed to rule. In CHAOS, Zeus (Jeff Goldblum) has reigned as the king of the gods for thousands of years, but everything changes when he wakes up one morning to find a wrinkle on his forehead. Because this is a prophecy. This sign of aging sends Zeus into a spiral of paranoia and neurosis, causing him to see threats to his power everywhere. Meanwhile, his brother Hades, the guardian of the Underworld, is slowly losing control of his kingdom, oppressed by the souls of the dead who are becoming impatient. Of course, Zeus is unaware of these. Hera (Janet McTeer), queen of the gods and wife of Zeus, is forced to take action to preserve her freedom and authority in the face of her husband's increasing paranoia. Meanwhile, Dionysus (Nabhaan Rizwan), the rebellious son of Zeus, continues to defy his father and leads a hedonistic existence that threatens to shatter everything. Returning to Earth, the humans begin to realize that the gods they worshiped are no longer as powerful or benevolent as they once were. Among these mortals, a motley crew of Riddy (Aurora Perrineau), Orpheus (Killian Scott), Caneus (Misia Butler), and Ari (Leila Farzad) find themselves bound by fate in a rebellion against Zeus and the other gods. Together, they may be the ones to bring about the downfall of the gods and the end of their eternal reign. As for Poseidon (Cliff Curtis), god of the seas and storms, he's more interested in the size of his yacht than the riots taking place, leaving mortals to fend for themselves in the face of divine wrath. KAOS is aimed at fans of fantasy series and dark comedies who appreciate modern interpretations of classic myths. Fans of series like American Gods and Good Omens will find a plot rich in humor, mythological references, and reflections on power, immortality, and decadence. What makes KAOS different is its irreverent, unconventional approach to Greek mythology and its understanding that gods can be as dysfunctional and vulnerable as humans. With its meticulous direction and extraordinary cast, KAOS is as entertaining as it is deep, blending cosmic drama with the personal intrigues of the gods. It premiered on Netflix on August 29, 2024. A series that will make you rediscover the Olympian gods in a new light, amidst CHAOS, power crises, neuroses and comedy. Thanks to its masterfully written script and star-studded cast, this British series promises to be a must-watch this year for fans of fantasy and dark comedy. Immerse yourself in the turbulent world of CHAOS, where even the gods are not safe from the chaos of their own creation. Meanwhile, it is necessary to emphasize the slogan that you will come across many times; "A line appears, order weakens, the family overthrows and chaos begins"... Let's get back to the series... Of course, not only the gods are described, but also the struggles, passions, secret relationships and struggles of the gods among themselves, which we have detailed in the Sumerian tablets, are also included and of course These relationships can even turn into love triangles that are difficult to understand. Of course, even though they are talking about gods, I can say that it is one of the bravest productions ever put on the big screen. Generally, such productions can be banned or stopped completely even during shooting. Maybe they have gone through such a process, or I think they might. Especially the Vatican may launch a serious campaign on this issue, what do you think? Let's continue... Meanwhile, while the gods are being told, there is also a love story that is told in between. Even though the main boy goes after his dead lover to the afterlife, and of course the girl finds someone else in the land of the dead, it is still worth following. There is another very important plot observed in this production, and that is Prophecies. No matter what they do, no matter who they are, the characters cannot prevent fate and prophecies, and moreover, they cannot change them. While I was examining the Sumerian mythology before, I mentioned that the gods we call Anunnaki could not resist fate and prophecies and that there was a divine system above them, and this system was explained very well in this production, so I think you will not miss many details. And now it's time for the secret hero of the production; You know, the person who brought and lit the fire in the Olympics is, according to some, the person who brought light and knowledge, and according to others, he is a thief, but everything he does is for people. According to Greek mythology, his name is PROMETHEUS. So who exactly is Prometheus? Let's look at it first; Prometheus is a Titan in Greek mythology known as the creator and protector of humanity. Here is who Prometheus is, his mission and his story: Prometheus is a Titan, the grandson of Uranus (Sky) and Gaia (Earth). He is generally known for his intelligence, cunning and love for people. Titans are a generation of gods in Greek mythology that preceded Zeus and the Olympian gods. That is, it is before. Prometheus is considered the protector and teacher of humanity. His mission is to provide people with knowledge and skills. Its best-known function is to bring fire to people and thus strengthen them against the challenges of nature. Let's take a look at his story; Prometheus created humans and took on the task of protecting them. However, his most famous act of helping people is stealing fire from the gods on Olympus. Stealing this fire gave people skills such as heating, cooking and metalworking. However, this action angered Zeus, the leader of the gods. Zeus sentenced Prometheus to a terrible punishment to punish him for this behavior. Prometheus was chained to a rock in the Caucasus Mountains and sentenced to have his liver eaten by an eagle every day. Interestingly enough, Prometheus' liver grows back every night, causing him to suffer the same pain every day. This punishment is a price for Prometheus' defiance of Zeus and his love for humans. Prometheus was eventually rescued by Heracles (Hercules). This salvation is interpreted as recognition of Prometheus' courage and sacrifices for humanity. Prometheus is considered a symbol of knowledge and progress. His story is also an expression of individual resistance to the gods and authority. Prometheus is remembered as a hero who brought light to humanity but paid a great price for this cause. The story of Prometheus has had a profound impact on both the ancient Greek world and modern thought as a symbol of humanity and the search for knowledge. This is the situation, dear friends, it is worth noting that, rather than accepting these definitions and narratives as literary texts, it is useful to know that they are serious inscriptions from ancient times and have survived to the present day, and of course, many narratives have been modernized. Let's get back to the series; The creators of the series bring people together with the Gods of Olympus and make them say, "No, we are actually no different from each other, but we are Gods, we do what we know"... And we know this story so well!... Zeus, who wants to keep the power, says: "People must constantly be challenged. because if they relax and live in peace for a long time, they become less afraid, and this brings disobedience.” You know Zeus, when the god of gods says "I have the power", he instantly turns the other gods into stones and animals with one move, and punishes those who oppose him and those he sees as dangerous to himself with the heaviest punishment. Prometheus was one of these gods. While Prometheuse is tied to those rocks, he also acts as the narrator of the eight-episode series. I told you that he is actually the secret hero of the series. It gives us the following information about how the gods were created. “Zeus hated his father, and he hated his other children too. After all of them had been tormented by his father for years, one day Zeus killed him. After killing her father Kronos, she absorbed his soul and then transformed into him. The power felt so sweet and he decided to use it…. The lie must be maintained if the gods are to remain immortal. Myths and also religions must be preserved, people must be distracted. Zeus is counting on this, the distraction!….” OK THEN; IS CHAOS AN PROPHECY OR A BEGINNING? According to Greek mythology, the universe arose from the primordial god named Chaos. Chaos later gave birth to the Titans. The Titans were a kind of dynasty of gods. One of them, Kronos, began to eat his own children for fear that they would replace him. Zeus, one of these children, managed to escape from the hands of Kronos and, with the help of the Titans, overthrew him and seized power. Zeus founded a new dynasty of gods called the Olympian Gods. Later, there were some wars between the Olympian Gods and the Titans. Another version of the story of the gods that Prometheus tells in the series. According to this data, it is possible to think that the universe consists of chaos. In the series, a prophecy is mentioned. The series is shaped around this prophecy: "A line appears, order weakens, the family topples and chaos begins." The famous line is the line that appears on Zeus' forehead due to aging. Thinking that he is immortal, Zeus becomes paranoid and begins to increase his terror, thinking that his power will weaken with this sign of aging. Meanwhile, during the Olympus festival, people defecated on Zeus' monument, which further increased Zeus' concerns. The heroes of the series are Zeus, his wife Hera, Zeus' siblings Poseidon, the God of the Sea, and Hades, the God of Death, Medusa and Prometheus with snakes in her hair. Besides the gods, we see human characters Orpheus and his wife Riddy, the president Minos, who does not obey the words of the Gods, and a few other people. In fact, Orpheus also has a mythological story. The story in the series is a modernized version of the original. When Riddy dies, Orpheus, who is madly in love with him, decides to go down to the underworld, the domain of Hades, to save his wife. Dionysus, the vagabond son of Zeus, is also the interesting hero of the series. Perhaps because his father disregards him, he will pursue doing a meaningful and good job to spite him. As for Hera, she takes action to protect her freedom and authority in the face of Zeus' increasing paranoia... Charlie Covell, who was previously the screenwriter of the movie "The End of the World" and the producer of "Chernobyl", is also the creator of "Chaos". This British-made series offers a very powerful story, enriched with beautiful and familiar music. It is impossible not to like it, frankly it has to be said. If you are critical of these subjects, I suggest you try black humor and comedy-drama. In fact, every subject and every scene you will watch is actually something you already know. Even though it may seem a little +18, I can say that it is a production that I would like to recommend with a slight warning, friends. In conclusion; The "KAOS" series stands out as a production that is based on Greek and Mesopotamian mythologies and presents these ancient myths to the audience with a modern interpretation. This 8-episode series, released on Netflix on August 29, blends the relationship between gods and humans with black comedy and dramatic elements. While the series offers an interesting experience for those who love mythology, it is also an important production to see how myths are reinterpreted today. "KAOS," is a bold production that reinterprets Greek mythology in a modern language. The equivalents of myths in today's world and the human-like weaknesses of gods make the audience both laugh and think. The series shows how valid and impressive ancient myths can still be. While "CHAOS" presents viewers with a world full of gods, it also reveals that they are just as complex and vulnerable as humans. An extraordinary and entertaining series that should not be missed for those interested in mythology. That's all for now, I'm Volkan Çelik, we'll see you again, goodbye.
