well hello and a very good evening from a bustling twerton Park the new season is in full flow now with the third fixture in 10 days arriving in aquasis it's National League South action it's Football under the flood lights it is Bath City versus T United after an opening day loss of wbor and wood the Romans opened their accounts with an encouraging 1-nil win over Welling United in the home opener here at twon Park at this past weekend Scott Wilson netting for the first time this season the 33rd minute and city had to defend well and work hard for their first win and clean sheet of the campaign visitors tonight are about to travel over 100 miles up the M5 with a Southwest Clash after a mix start of the season three points from their first two games including an opening day home win against newly promoted Enfield town and a one-nil loss at Wet farra on Saturday new manager Paul Watton claimed the players were incredibly disappointed after the loss and will be looking for improvement tonight on the road for the second time in a row last season the goals went through tribulations of going into administ ation a point seduction and their lowest League finish since 1927 but now with a New Consortium in charge a new manager in the dugouts and the appointment of one of football's most notorious names Neil waro talk United are looking upwards this evening live commentary from Bath Navy Hoops across kit they played in the '90s I'm uh pretty sure of and yellow socks Bar City of course at home in their home kit thick black and white stripes this season black shorts and white socks as the ball bounces through to keeper James hayon here he is with the left foot again this one's a bit longer and W Richard grabs the ball from right underneath his crossbar and one of the T players gets caught up in the net good job Jordan D's not playing D and Drea at the back would have been right for confusion I feel Clark picks the ball up deep turns he's got Grimes to his right side foots it in the middle and then shot comes in from Alex Fisher on the turn just inside the area too high over the crossb now Drea hoofs the ball high well watched by baton but the header goes to cook on the edge of his own area there cook in a Crossing position goes for the far post and W Richards thinks about grabbing it and lets it go across his box and out on the far side there was a time when the corrugated iron on that roof is very elderly and if you were standing underneath it you got a rush CH every time the ball landed on it diagonal out to Carson High up on the left side for United and Grimes loses it cut back towards cook and it's into the bottom of the bar city net through the legs of Wilds riches and Cody cook with muted celebrations his first goal for T United and uh you just knew it would happen here but back at tton Park he couldn't get on the score sheet in T's opening two games but he breaks the deadlock here we played almost 12 minutes and it's Bar City nil to United won yeah City didn't really defend that very well once he got Beyond Grimes and came to cook he didn't really have to do very much to score from close range and uh City he will not be happy about going behind as we said toi have had the the best of the play in these opening stages CD Now need to make a resp want now Grimes on the right Fisher points to where he wants the ball but delivery is not up to it Swept Away up towards cook kept City fans hanging before signing in pre-season for Devon Club he of course comes from Truro down in Coral so it's more of a local team for him in the header comes in from Seymour flashes across goal and wide of the far post a lovely cross on on the right I think from crask up from Wing back and Seymour well perhaps could have put that away with a bit more of a touch on the ball I think it just glanced off his forehead and went across to the left hand side of the goal mil as Richards sends it long Fisher buffeted by two t Defenders and then there's a foul on Grimes cook bit too heavy in the challenge City don't want another defensive injury first book in the evening to Cody cook the goal scorer take it seriously W Richards with the free kick after Grimes gets back to his feet and the head is dropping in the edge of the Box Wilson jumps for It Away by Dreer and overcomes Tilson almost intercepts but Seymour brings it down now hazani looking to thread it through for cook B leaves it mils Richards Scamper outside of his box to clear that away yeah covering well for Grimes back with Carson left wing good cross in and Cook's headed down towards the right post is gathered well by Wilds Richards that's what we know all too well Cook's prowess in the air and he almost got himself a second goal of the evening there left of the two Central Defenders Morgan up the line to Grimes Wilson comes short but he plays it deep towards fiser and a good punch from Haymon just got there ahead of Alex Fischer referee blows his whistle he comes the free kick from Clark is good looking one in towards fiser does with the head it's a good save by Haymon goes over the bar good reactionary save from the goalkeeper there the gy Bor man and it will be a corner for City yeah did well there fisher got a bit of power behind that and uh ammer had to be alert just pushed it away now it's back with clock on left hand side both Hayfield and Seymour marking here comes the left left foot across clear away com to parel on the edge of the box now L like he was going to line up a shot has to go out to Clark on the left hand side of the B Center Crossing not the best one though could beat the first man cleared away comes far as baton and finally City have a bit of possession trying to keep the pressure on and W Richards will just send it Forward plenty of players on the edge of that box now goes up to Morgan who wins for heer one Joo Smith trying to just curl it around towards Wilson wasn't there though comes to Baton who not quite sure what baton was trying to do there to audacious eff from a halfway line there from cook good opportunity for talking now down that left hand side through Pani but dispossessed and Morgan who was one of the better players of the weekend on Saturday do threads a lovely ball forward into the middle of the park for wo Smith to run forward onto I should be a free kick for City and it will be in a very good position as well you imagine you and Clark will be all over this one looks like referee may be getting his card out there's going to be a yellow card once again a field in fact actually the two end players on that wall and it's exactly you just said Andrew it lay it off for you and Clark and it will be a goal kick it didn't quite come off a yellow shirt still haven't quite got used to there being fourth officials at these games no and it was actually because fourth official as Grimes is taken down for another good opportunity for a free kick for City the Lis Sandos coming over to have a chat with the boss in the away away technical area and he is going to go into the book as well so well fourth officials in National League South I think we're going to see a lot more of that it's blown 34 minutes gone 1 nil to T here comes the free kick it's a deep one towards Morgan at back post well cleared it comes to H for us has to flick one over which wo Smith will try and run on to but Heyman is able to collect in his full magenta kit J hon had a good start to the game so far made a solid save early actually had 37 appearances for EXA in the grecians as on the right hand side for T now across the ball in it comes to W Richards has to collect up the near post Grimes goes back to humre yers who justess bit too easily that was poor from hrey y that time hanani comes inside from the left looking to swing the ball out to the right hand side switches that up really well and W SMI has to do well he does bring down the wing back crash there referee says no foul though no penalty given not much of an appeal from the Wayside either they just collided running into the box there's a potential penalty inant at the end of the game on Saturday against Welling still unsure myself to be honest as Wilson has to chase onto that against Dre Drea and he clears the ball away for another throw in 38 and2 minutes gone 1 nil to T United here at twon Park Wilson has to come right back to the halfway line does well goes out to the right hand side for Grimes running ahead of Gil's technical area but can't quite find Wilson and he brings down Carson No in fact it was bolon in fact and it will be a free kick for toi once again yeah Grimes to to having a little word from the referee I think he's going to get a yellow card as well yes he is parel has to go back into the city half for Baton ball over top once again to find Clark and there's for to Clark inside the box with the confusion there between the left back and the left Center back but it's cleared away and eventually hoof forward by Hayfield great opportunity for City to try and equal the tie Hayfield is good Ball by hanani first time touch to find Hayfield as he brings over halfway line now they can charge forward with Seymour left hand side will look to take on Morgan few stepovers and he does get the better Morgan send a good- looking cross in well cleared by baton good defending C he need to keep the ball going forward as Tilson goes out left to Clark both Wingers on that left hand side once again it's an interesting tactic they've gone for there as W Smith comes inside collects the ball dis bit too easy by hanani there fisher wins for header but can be half cleared Anyway by the back line as Grimes wins for header which Wilson try and bring down he brings first touches really good initially there was too many yellow shirts around Wilson There balls played forward up towards cook who accidentally touched it for himself and now Tilson can play a ball forward towards Wilson inside box now take a shot flicks one Defender takes a shot but gets it completely wrong with a left foot that time and that should have been The Equalizer right there I said it will be a throw for S they have to get on with this one quickly that was an absolute wonderful opportunity Wilson just just got his legs out to R himself and with that the half ends as the referee Blows the Whistle for halim and well I'm sure Jerry Gil will think we should be going in 1-1 there it's interesting to Kei when they started this game started like the heist was on fire and really pressed forward very rapidly got the goal but since then very little attacking threat from them and they look quite content to sit back and try and guard that lead yeah I think since Cody Cook's downward header that saved in the 21st minute there's not been anything to him good run down the right hand side flick header almost comes through to Wilson and it's away for a city corner but lovely play from wjo Smith down the right in swinger into the middle headed out by Defender and then a shot from ano Smith sliced wide of goal reminiscent of an old kit lot of nostalgic kits coming through and here's a chance for hazani goes down in the area few changes come in but referee let W Richard get on with things thumped into Alis from close range by Palmer and a yellow card pulled out for the T key Captain Oscar thr kelt for Hal in the Run of Alvis there goes long looking for one Jo Smith to clear F towards Ash he's waves his arms in frustration and another booking second one for the Romans after Nick Grimes got one in the first half for y he's just dropped in next to Jack Baton for a moment wjo Smith in central position turns picks it out to Clark on the right space for a cross here gets it deep towards the far post and a jump from Alves who's arriving from the left hand side came off the B of the talki defender has gone out for a corner Clark's Corner left side whipped in a bit of Venom on it wanjo Smith pulled over refere on a good view just a few yards away waves his hand still in play with humre on the right hand side now Alves in number 20 pumps long into The Box Morgan trying to get on the end of it header up into the air from Palmer Clark for City get it back to Jordan Alvis drops the shoulder gets away from Cody cook Andel Smith chips it in and the header from Davis straight at the goalkeeper Heyman took up a good position got him behind the defender but it was right down the middle of the goal lifted into the the area by Hayfield and the header into the corner means that t United have a 2-n lead celebrations in front of the away fans and it's the defender Ed Palmer arriving at the back post who just nodded it back across goal into the far Corner rvey Wilds Richard looks to the skies just as B city were looking to get themselves level with a good spell of pressure it's United who make it 2-n it was also one of the first times that we've seen a moment of Doubt for wild Richards he looked for a moment as if he was going to come for that ball took two steps forward and then thought n it's a little bit far away on that far post retreated to goal but by then I think he was out of position Palmer's head are powerful and uh really gave him no chance by then but I'm sure he's standing there thinking maybe I should have come out and taken that cross I mean they've got in good positions time and again but uh no real threat on goal well some may have a chance now he's at the by line s a cross in oh Davis couldn't quite get a toe on it good defending once again from to does go for throw in well as up by Clockwork then up almost scoring there but there will be a couple of substitutions one for each side two for toi in fact just keeping an eye about the changes that be made says Louis swen is now on the pitch in the 75th minute now Smith taken out from the back then probably should be a free kick went through the back of one Joo Smith nothing given though still opportunity for City send into box Davis was lining up the shot there cleared away and Hayfield is able to keep hold of the ball but swen does incredibly well to win the ball back for the Romans Alves has to come inside to keep away from any yellow shirts Tilson goes out left for swo look to send a cross into good looking cross to the back Post in for Clark well defended once again by Carson and it will be a corner for City much better lovely Cross by L swen there Andre uh as I'm sure yoa will discover as well pass out with a curing ball forward towards Wilson on the edge of the Box left hand side can bring it into Alber have to shoot for weak for he does and it will be a goal so one Joe Smith makes it 2-1 and there could be fireworks in this last quarter of an hour here at twon Park it's now B City one talking United too my goodness I think some of that he's down to talk he's sitting back a little bit and uh I think they got that second goal and thought this is job done but as we were saying there was still quite a lot of time to go and uh well I feel very glad for Wan Joo Smith he's worked hard tonight and uh just reward getting that and well there's still time for a second here does well a good first touch he is uh held back there but the ball already run away from him and swen will run onto that really well played by swen may not be the biggest of players but he certainly got that low center of gravity which really helps now Clark coming inside halfway inside the T half still 2-1 to the visitors one Joo Smith not able to let off the Clark and the two Wingers just getting into a bit of a muddle there and that should be a free kicking it won't be a free kicking play it was a shoulder-to-shoulder charge right in front of the referee in my defense but pole was right in my way as that challenge happens so I couldn't quite tell Alves send it into box it comes down now for tilston he can't quite get it into his path now Clark who's offside Las off forano Smith it doesn't matter anyway will be offside and Tilson he just couldn't get it onto his right foot and it will be a free kick more seconds to take away baton over halfway line now to Wilson who's dropped right back one Joo Smith has Davis on the overlap could get to Davis with the pace has let him down there and Heyman quick off his [Applause] line that is W great ball forward up towards cook who does lose out there was a throw then taken and W Richard once again has for better of Ash on the dribbling front send the ball forward it's a good head of one up towards wo Smith near by line it will be a corner well then just under four minutes remaining Andrew all of t squad back in the 18 yard box here comes a corner bent of a penalty spot her is what a good save by Haymon over his bar once again and talk be very thankful to James Heyman tonight who's had a great performance in between the sticks yeah done exceptionally well I think there parel won the header as expected really not often he loses them he'll go long and it comes then bit too close to goalkeeper B time comes out to swet may just trying to leash a shot maybe Rush your blood is well tackled though by Ash and well Wilson does exactly what Wilson had to do there and it's son get B Scrappy there's a few handbags flying about I think Wilson he just put his hands up like yeah he admitted his mistake there knew exactly what he was doing professional foul he'll take the book in I'm not quite sure who it was who had a slight swiat there at Wilson and the referee's going to have a chat with his linesman all a bit unnecessary really always happens right at the end of games isn't it well nobody badly injured it I mean it's also a way of wasting a bit of those that time that remains of course referee and his assistant having a conversation on that Far Side drop now has already winded down a fair chunk of that additional time there will be Wilson to go into the book he would say well that was where the incident occurred that's where it should take place W Richards over top trying to find Morgan potentially came out to quite a few yellow shirts baton out to right for Clark be looking to send the final ball in if he can it's charged down way too easy paor from Clark and there goes the fulltime whistle here at twerton Park and it ends here Bath City one t United to toi going two up one before the break through Cody cook and then one in the 63rd minute a good header from a set piece for Ed Palmer and then just before the 80th minute so one Joe Smith deflecting it into back of the net and unfortunately for Jerry go on his side they weren't able to find that equalizer Andrew thoughts yeah I mean I think you would say toi definitely edged it they didn't look too composed at the back when City began to put pressure on them but you really feel that they they won this game in that opening 20 minute spell when they look totally dominant at the start could got that goal to put them one nil up and they would say well we were winning the match we didn't really need to do anything else Palmer added to it by making it 2-0 and then City well they had chances they had chances throughout the game other than those 20 minutes they weren't able to capitalize on them you just look down and think no Freer no Smith no rust no Reigns you know had those players been available you know this would have been I think a very very close contest yeah if the fullbacks were fit especially too many times where the Wingers were just left a bit stranded not the fault of the fullbacks obviously they having to play very different position here tonight I suppose the one positive about it is getting past the talk game is not the worst thing in the world early on in the season no it it isn't and uh I mean games come thick and fast at the moment which given the city's injury situation is not exactly helpful to them uh but on the other hand it does mean when you have a defeat like this there's plenty of chance to pick up and and make amends for it uh next Saturday absolutely well away at homebridge next Saturday imagine Mark s will be down there for that one it be certainly a close encounter as we just uh
