just about set to go now and on the mound here today Zack Gallen and singy we were talking earlier about how he's doing a great job navigating through tough spots I've just been so impressed with when it seems like there's more pressure he's more calm and settles in he's done an incredible job with runners in scoring position most guys they get a little tight they start to aim the baseball but for some reason he gets looser the ball comes out of his hand with more life and he's able to wiggle off the hook of you know tough situations and get his team back in the Dugout here's M now Outfield playing very deep not wanting anything over their [Applause] heads that one the other way fired to Second plenty of time in first that's a double play for me that's one of the toughest double plays to turn on the infield the first baseman has to get inside create a throwing Lane to hit that middle infielder to the double play and then from there completing it back to First really good job all the way around here's teoscar Hernandez here was late there strike one Hernandez 31 years old he joined the team as a free agent to the right side and he grabs it foul on the ground to Short On The Run throw to first they get the out and that'll do it one hit in the inning but nothing more than that and now Arizona gets its first opportunity in a and we're back and out the hill in this one plate Kershaw well maybe a little pedestrian there in terms of the ER but with those numbers you expect to be in a ball game and have an opportunity to win and really that's all his teammates can ask for so we'll see if he's able to consist ready to go for the last half of the Inn stepping in is the switch inning Short Stop haraldo p as he turns on the rubber with that good live arm delivers and that McCarthy well boo there aren't many guys who have a flare for the big moment like he does I mean batting over 400 with runners in scoring position are you kidding me I know it's not guaranteed or an automatic but I hope we get to see him in a close late game situation with runners in scoring position and just see is he truly a machine or not a little bloop signal so a man aboard now with one away anything but pretty right there but he'll take it every time pitch was away so he definitely pulled off it there not what you want to do with the pitch in that location really but he was able to guide it into the outfield for the knock and now they've got some speed on first so we'll see see if they try to get him into motion that's in there o and two he might want to steal second in his spot but he's dealing with a catcher that has one of the best pop times in the game he needs to pick his spot very wisely waves at the Bender for the strike out I got to think that was the plan all the way he s High fast and then that curveball down low to get him swinging now especially how effective pitchers work up in the zone these days that's a devastating combination Josh B the plate now that's a swing in a miss you know these Dodgers definitely being aggressive at the plate but I think it's fair to if they're being a little over aggressive I'm specifically talking about the first pitch these batters are swinging more than 80% of the time which is fine if you're scoring runs but that hasn't been the case today rips one to right and it stays there I'd say a mistake pitch in an 02 count too good of a pitch to hit right there you have to expand the Zone keep that lead up man off first base here's Kik Hernandez [Applause] that one back up the middle and it gets through throw back in quickly first and second now with nobody out went up there looking to be aggressive and got something he could handle couldn't get any air under it but he smoked that ball back up the middle timing was just perfect got great wood on it Newman there's one back to First and that is a double play sometimes double plays get turned so quickly that you don't really get to appreciate all of the finer details and how these guys execute them right there really nice footwork and a good feed to Second was the key to pulling it off sh Otani up to the [Applause] dish base knock center field and they'll and he makes the catch and that is that but two runs for them and they jump ahead we move on to the bottom of inning number three it's the Dodgers two and the Diamondbacks nothing back here in the desert bottom of the inning stepping in Kevin Newman well after scoring runs this is where you're looking for that shut down inning get that hot team back in there to swing the bats there's a for a strike and now it's even one and one hit's got some good opposite field power what I like about something being hit to the right side into the Outfield is that the base runner at second has a very good read and can determine whether or not he can score on that base hit Kershaw fires still two and two after the foul ball here comes a pitch spoils that one and it remains two and two runner those as you take your first couple of steps out of the box you know you got some real estate to run on and such a good feeling nice liner into the Gap right there Suarez the next to hit takes low for has been been pretty clear they're being aggressive at the plate but still finding ways to pick their spots without falling into the habit of being over aggressive five hits for him on the first pitch alone so they're swinging and connecting right out of the gates makes the grab and there's one down back to the top of the lineup sh OT the next to hit swing and a miss strike one course sometimes you need to be patient as an offense and let the pitcher come to you but you can't argue with the game and they're using in this one hit hard base [Applause] hit and now it's Wookie bets one for two and this team I don't know how he's able to shoot that pitch the other way and still put something on it that pitch was inside and he let it get really deep so pretty incredible hands to fight it off and out Will Smith steps to the plate for the Dodgers sliced to right and foul ball the Dodgers trying to break this one open at the top of the fif and that one fouled off [Applause] and the pitch fights that one away and the count remains 0 and two pretty impressive we haven't seen that pitch from him much but he's got a really good feel when he throws it lifted in the air right center field Carol moving under it squeezes it and there's two away so first and second with two outs digging in is the switch inning outfielder Tommy Edmond ripped into right field base hit does it stop heads for home he was all over that one solid swing from start to end on time with everything really good balance nice extension and he made it out front for the line drive KN breaks his Bat pops it up he's got it and that's the third out so it's two runs on four hits no errors and a couple left on home half of the we head to the bottom of the fifth and now Corbin Carrol well after putting up a nice Inning on offense got some runs across this is where you look for the starter to go out there have a shutdown inning don't give that other team any hope you just hope that he can get through this inning get the aboard on the leadoff single the batter Now Kevin [Applause] Newman that's in for a strike he's pitching well but not throwing a ton of first pitch strikes usually doesn't work out for success but he ball one next offering is in for a strike this one the offense has sputtered somebody's got to find a way to get on keep the line moving and manufacture at least one run then maybe you get two or three and now the Lefty fouls one off two and two and the pitch on the ground out to short safe at first as they can't make the play Bo that's staying within his game right there I mean this Speedster gets the infield single and now he's on base to possibly do some damage I love seeing what guys like this can do to disrupt the game once they get in a position to do so guel in the Box again takes the strike that missed by a lot and it's one and one now this team is definitely looking for a big swing of the bat right here try to close that Gap but you know at the very least if you could find a way to manufacture that run from first it feels like it's really important to getting back into this ball game swings through that Cs on it and misses that's a strike out couldn't catch up to the Thompson in his fourth year he features a sinker a slider and he works in a for seamer he one and it's fou away gets a piece and it stays on and two righty delivers bounced up the middle and he beats
