Caitlyn Clark makes history with record-breaking 86 three-pointer in WNBA rookie season Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark etched her name in the WNBA record books on Wednesday night sinking her 86th three-pointer of the season to surpass the previous rookie record Clark achieved this feat in the first quarter of the fever's 8480 victory over the Connecticut Sun breaking the record set by Atlanta Dream guard Ryan Howard in 2022 Clark finished the game with an impressive all-around performance scoring 19 points on seven for 17 shooting including three for2 from Beyond The Arc and two for two from the foul line she also contributed five rebounds five assists one steal and one block although she committed seven turnovers this record-breaking achievement is just the latest in a string of impressive milestones for Clark who has already set multiple records this season these include the WNBA standard for assists in a single game with 19 the rookie assists record the rookie All-Star Game assists record and the rookie single game three-pointers record Clark has also become the first rookie in WNBA history to record a triple double and achiev career totals of 400 points 100 rebounds and 150 assists on Wednesday she made further league history by becoming the fastest player to collect 500 points and 250 assists in her career with nine games remaining in the season Clark is still Within Reach of multiple other rookie records including total points 744 set by Simone Augustus in 2006 and point assist double doubles 11 set by Courtney vandersloot in 2017 Clark's impressive performance on Wednesday was not limited to her scoring as she also showcased her exceptional playmaking skills helping to distribute the ball for the fever the team team improved to a 15-6 record with the win placing them seventh in the WNBA if they finish the season among the top eight teams Clark will have the opportunity to continue setting WNBA rookie records in her debut postseason
