first hour of the show reminiscing about our boy Dada uh he passed away July 18th um I told you guys we were going to do kind of a fundraiser and uh opening up the uh Jen's vinmo and PayPal and cash app for you guys to donate that is still going on if you'd like to donate deada passed away July 18 just found out about it two days ago his Services were yesterday so really didn't have time to get to the services didn't have time to um send flowers uh or anything so unfortunately we weren't able to contribute in that way however uh what we are going to do is we're raising money as we always do because deato was family and he meant a lot to us and the community and so he leaves behind a wife and uh kids and uh one of his kids was a special needs kid and um I can't imagine the bills and the the the you know just the the burden that is going on in in the the ma household right now for his wife wife taking care of the kids and dealing with the the the trauma and the loss of Demetrius who was just a fantastic dude so um give what you can I know I ask you guys to give a lot we as a community rally a lot and I feel sometimes that I burden you guys with this stuff but I want you to know I really try not to ask unless it's important uh and this is one of us this is one of our guys and um he'll be missed and um I can tell you that right now we have raised uh she hasn't sent me an update but we've raised um at least ,000 it's and I want to say first of all thank you guys um I know that a few of you looking at you joepro looking at you Sylvia uh have stepped up bigly this is bigly you guys have stepped up amazingly and donated a large portion of that and um I have committed $200 to the cause uh and I can tell you that jopro and Sylvia have committed uh just the two of them combined have more than um made up for that so they they have yeah they've stepped up big and I think though that we could still do more to help out Mrs Ma and the kids and you know you just look when this happened with heartthrob when he lost his better half and his significant other and then when uh Alan Denson passed away and Kathy was left um to grieve and to have to carry on uh we did it again and and we find ourselves once again having to deal with it and you know there by the grace of God goes I and us and hopefully we never have to do this again for one of us but I do ask and I do ask you to put yourself in that situation and think about if you had lost your significant other the things that you'd have to deal with so if you could give five bucks or 10 bucks or 25 bucks or whatever just uh help out with groceries or bills or just to take some of the burden off I know it's going to help so please do what you can there's all the information if you have questions or if you'd like to know what the money's going to how we're going to get it to her we're an open book we've never hidden that from you guys we've always been willing to show you um so if you need to know what it's for and and how we do it we'll we're happy to show you how we use the money where we send it and what we do with it now you know once we give it to them that's up to them you know so um but it's what we one in the first one in the third three in the sixth uh only to give up three in the sixth to the Rangers um Kikuchi went five and a third gave a up two earnies Scott came in and gave up an earned run in a third of an inning Abu went one in a third Innings and GI has given up zero earned runs so um Astros looking good looking like they are um headed for a win though we'll find out with that Bullpen you just never know let's talk a little bit about last night's game let's talk a little bit about um the no hitter that wasn't and uh um I wanted to be mad I I I wanted to be upset I really wasn't I really wasn't pissed off I really wasn't angry when you have a guy like fber who gets you first of all a start like that which is when your offense is struggling what you need more than anything is your starters and your Bullpen you just need your pitching staff to step up and get you through that lull and and this team is going to have this we we saw it last year there was a time when this team was struggling to score runs and it's just going to happen and the fact that Kyle Tucker's been on the bench or been on the iil excuse me for a while it's it's exacerbated the problem but it's just part of baseball and when this happen happens you rely on your um you rely on your pitching staff to pull you through so Hunter Brown stepped up big unfortunately things didn't go his way uh yeah I bet you would to her Dallas I'd rather talk about Monday's game um yeah unfortunately that didn't go uh their way but they still got uh a fantastic start out of Hunter Brown uh on Monday he went six Innings and gave up one one earned run it's just that the bullpen is kind of done with the bullpen is done uh Presley came in and and unfortunately gave up a run which got them into Extra Innings and then Ferguson I mean he's a he is who we thought he was so that was an interesting move by um oh my God why am I oh Jesus Joe asata in that particular game going to um Ferguson and not Scott in that moment I think he liked the matchup and look Ferguson got two outs so you can't be too mad I mean he did his job he made a mistake kind of like fber fber goes out he has a no hitter through uh eight and 2/3 uh innings he's he's cruising I mean not cruising he was he had some moments where he struggled you know he lost command a little bit and he made one mistake and he made that mistake to a hell four but three of those at the beginning of the month so and walks wise he had he was walked 14 no I'm sorry 12 times uh in the month I'd like to see intentional walks nonetheless an on base percent of 415 really good he's got a 455 on base now Texas wanted nothing to do with him walked Walked him again um pitched around him basically and we saw what happens when they didn't goes two for five last night um with a home run today and and the good news is and you'll hear him say this a lot cuz one hitting is contagious and if you're not you heard him talk about it on the the game last night but they mentioned getting Tucker back and trying to get this offense going but I think if yordon can get going then that is going to help some of the other offense get going as well hitting is contagious it's a it's a old baseball set hitting is contagious and that goes not just for the team but for for guys in general I mean hitting is very much a streaky thing just like kind of shooting is right like you kind of go through slumps and you know patches of um cold run you know runs of you know being cold at the plate and then heating up so hopefully last night was the beginning of yordon heating up and that's what it usually takes is a night like last night going two for five with a home run couple RBI and contributing to a win helps you relax now you're not pressing as much Ops Jesus Christ this makes me this makes me I mean he makes John Singleton look like Babe Ruth this dude's Ops for the year is 575 that's just oh my God oh my God he has One RBI for the season what great okay so if we look at his game log and it is by far um I mean those those numbers ain't impressive either and Jake had one good month and everybody got excited and I told you guys he's a he's Jake mornik with worse hair he had a 77 Ops in April a [ __ ] 924 Ops in May that's great that's great yes give me that all day long too bad he didn't 6:32 Ops in June the F oh my God 541 Ops in July is awful I mean awful awful and 497 so here's here's the problem so you can fade Jake Meyers no problem but you can't fade Jake Meyers Mauricio Duan uh uh Chaz McCormick John Singleton you just can't fade that many bad hitters at once and Kyle Tucker solves a lot of this now the plan was Chaz McCormack and left he had has you know a year that he's been having or that you thought he would have like last year where he had 22 home runs he hit 270 slugged 840 and you were like this is our guy yay he improved off of his 2022 season and he looked like he was going to be your starting left fielder and you know yordon would platoon and sometimes play out there cuz he wanted to I fear [Music] that if the Astros are going to get right what they're probably going to have to do what they're probably going to have to do 64 top of the ninth by the way what they're probably going to have to do is Diaz is going to have to DH when he's not catching um and you're GNA have to use uh kartini more and kartini is not great and he never was I mean it people got excited when he was signed but his his lifetime stats weren't great he was really having second best stats of his career this year with the Astros but and he's a hell of a pinch hitter so you kind of hate to lose that bat but you're you're GNA have to figure out yon's going to have to play more left and jer's going to have to uh DH got to get Tucker back but Tucker getting back solves a lot of these problems because if you look at the lineup right it really falls apart down here at the bottom especially when you have to if Diaz is catching and yordon is is dhing then you have Chaz in left Meyers in center and right now you've got duban and right that's a [ __ ] atrocious hitting Outfield that's atrocious yeah Dodgers got the hurt bug what's up Red Hulk angels in 2026 uh 3026 maybe maybe Mike Trout's great great great great grandkid but if you think about what was considered to be a really good Outfield is now just it's abysmal when yordon is dhing Chaz I mean you're going Chaz Jake and Mauricio dubun that that that that's awful that's awful at least when you have Tucker anchoring right field a third of your Outfield is hitting at an elite level and then you know Jake Myers is going to be Jake Meyers but whatever you fade it because you're getting good defense and then in right field or excuse me left field you yordon is platooning but he's going to be in the lineup every day but I think the question starts to become I know they like Yer uh to handle the pitching staff but [ __ ] I don't know if this lineup can fade whoever they put in right field Den zenzo played first base today and they got good production out of him there but what was supposedly a strength for this team what was definitely a strength for this team going into this season which was their lineup because you didn't count on Chaz McCormick [ __ ] the bed and I mean you didn't count on Kyle Tucker being gone half the season and obviously the rotation was supposed to be a strength as well and you didn't count on all those injuries but this this lineup is slumping and I suspect that they'll get right and even even if the bottom three in the order isn't great they still have a hell of a top six but it's not what this team has been used to so you're going to have to you know you're going to have to figure it out [Music] um I don't know I mean maybe denzo is the answer maybe he catches fire maybe the last month and a half of the Season he figures it out I don't know Leon doesn't he looks lost so far but maybe he's going to you know figure some [ __ ] out too don't know I I told you guys several times when I was on ESPN Radio this last month and a half leading up to the trade deadline I felt like they needed to go get a bat I felt like there was a lot of holes I I I said yes they needed an arm they needed to go get an arm sure but you were getting arms back at some point you were going to get arms back but when you looked around you had a hole in in the lineup in Center you had a hole in the lineup at first and you got a hole in the lineup at left and sometimes that catcher when kartini's hitting and now it's kind of now that Tucker's not playing and joepro kind of said it as Tucker coming back with that training staff I assume hang nail discomfort means he's going to miss 200 games I I don't know I think they get kind of a I don't know I get the sentiment on that but I think I don't know I if I was Dana Brown and Jim Crane I would have gone out and got a bat a and it wasn't AED Miss Diaz that wasn't the answer but I would have gone out and gotten a bat whether it be at first base Outfield somewhere left field or first base I would have plugged in a bat and look they tried okay and that's the thing is they definitely tried what you have to understand is they were at a huge disadvantage as far as negotiating they didn't have all the assets so you could only do so much I think that they probably did the best they could with what they had available to them and Dre has a good point you know attrition has caught up to him winning for a decade has caught up to him when your farm system when you suck so bad and your farm system was so good because you suck so bad and all those great players come up you have no farm system left you have no way to negotiate you have no way to um make trades so you're winning but then when you don't resign those guys because your owner doesn't want to go into the second tier of the the luxury tax that's the problem here's the thing and and I I get it it's easy to spend uh OPM it's easy to spend other people's money but it's not like this team has lost all of their stars because of the salary cap and I think that that's the one thing if we're seeing the beginning of the end and I want to be real clear about that if we're starting to maybe see the beginning of the end because as Dre mentioned in the chat bregman could be gone next year Tucker could be gone the following year Verlander probably not coming back fber could be you know a year or so and he's gone Hunter Brown's your new ace by the way Hunter Brown's going to be your new
