off fu bigger horses but certainly not giraff horses and as the United States began to urbanize and be some larger cities we need to grow crops food for transport into the cities we needed bigger horses so some of the EST Farmers begin to import draft horses from Belgium from uh France and from Scotland and it is my understanding and I wouldn't call myself a pure historian but I think the largest number of stallions that came into this country in the beginning for perer on horses although I have got to tell me that the first stallion in this country was a sh but he was a sh breeder so um trust he was right and then we discovered the Belgian horses and they seemed to do better on the boat than some of the other breeds and so we really did import about them and once we got them here and they would go greed these Farm chunks and get some size then we began to import some Mars as well and then we started eer bread Arena one one one more walk your horses oh [Music] I didn't is speak leaving to somebody with a microphone in hand and not be able to count this is our third section we got one more oh this is the fourth section I really can't count Matt Ste we're going to begin the lineup with you please get pretty deep here get pretty deep watch watch your written Steward we've got to get 16 in here and stay safe but get them snug stay safe but get them in there pretty snug please the see youen do so and on the way to the food building a moment ago we were talking just a little bit about how these horses got into this cut reading a little bit about the breeding and as a matter of fact the breeding programs became so important important that a number of the universities in the country particularly in the Midwest and probably most notably University of Michigan actually had breeding programs right on the University and that's where the a lot of the register forces came out of and after World War II the tractors began to dominate and the need for draft horses on the farm or ground was just know longer really needed and about the only people using the draft horses in the field and is True to this day where they Amish people and my understanding is that the university and I don't know how they sorted out to got them but my understanding was that they gave some of these registered horses to the Amish folks and some of the guys that were good Horsemen and had a vision kept the Registries going because during the I don't know 50s we got really really really low in the number of draft fores in this country and the and the obvious been here we call this a reor drive off whatever you want to call it and we're going to give this a hot hot laugh two laps [Music] you all been doing a great job but I'm just going to give you one more reminder I hope they
