MLB Power Rankings 8/19: Astros Rising, A Fight For Number 1, Guardians Slide & More.

that this week had him 11th last week I was probably wrong but look it's not just what the Astros are doing and I I'm sure most of you know that by now the Astros can get really hot but if the teams in front of them keep winning there's only so much room for them to grow but the Astros are rising more this week we are going to see sadly disappointingly so the Cleveland Guardians are going to slide back at least one spot Maybe more and that is where you guys are going to have your say so we are going to get through and and have really a fight for the number one spot we did our our our Sunday Night Live stream and it is clear there is no overwhelming one team you can make an argument one through six that's over there right now one through six any of them could be in at the top spot but that's just I mean it makes it fun right now it also makes it maybe a little frustrating and aggravating because again you're going to be looking for your team if you're a Brewers fan if you're a Phillies fan if you're a Dodgers fan if you're a Yankee fan you're going to say hey here we are why why not us there can only be one all right let's get this thing started and we will as we have got used to now we're going to move quickly through this back half because there's not a whole lot to say uh I do want to because I have the screen moved around I want to move some things around here so I'm generally looking in the right direction uh let's get this thing uh let's get this thing started let's start with this 30 through 25 group and there is one team here that has been here for many weeks and we're finally going to move them up let's thr let's show 20 uh 30 through 25 we've got the no that's not right wait a minute what's up hold on a minute boy we are clunky as can be I see what happened bear with me guys uh I'm not sure why that shows like that we are slow out of it it has been a couple of weeks since we have done this live and it is is evident that it has it has been a couple of weeks since we have done this live uh let's move this team here here Jay's got to go no they are not in at 25 I don't know why they showed up there uh I think moving forward we're good that was the one thing yeah moving forward we should be good okay let's get back on track so 30 through 25 the white socks the Marlins the Rockies the Angels the A's and the Washington Nationals the Chicago White Socks if you if you haven't looked are pois to lose their 100th game this week not even not even going to get into September before they lose their 100th game 30 and 95 white socks will hold the Marlins will hold after a two and three week the Rockies hold after a two and four week the Angels won one single game this week but it's still not enough to slide back behind the Rockies Oakland at 53 and 71 did post a 3 and three week but it's not enough to move up and the Washington Nationals slide back from the number 24 spot to the number 25 spot after a 2 and four week that's 30 through 25 let's get 24-9 on the board there we go the Rangers what the hell has happened boy they should have traded at the deadline they have not won a single series since the trade deadline a 2 and five week this week going up against Boston going up against Minnesota those are the teams the Rangers in their mind probably thought that they could compete with and they can't and last week it was Houston and New York more teams that they feel like they could compete with they can't sherer's on the Shelf it's bad two and five last week for the Texas Rangers and here are my Toronto Blue Jays up to 23 Emer yes I know it's amazing it is incredible the Toronto Blue Jays swept a team they have not swept a team so okay they swept Texas out of the All-Star break they swept the angels part of that we got to go all the way back to like may I think it was May or early June they swept the white socks and that's it those are the only three series that the Toronto Blue Jays have swept their opponent the Rangers the angels and the white socks that's really depressing when I look at the fact that that's the number 24 the number 27 and the number 30 team on our power ranking anyway they're up to 23 a win's a win it was a 4-2 week after sweeping the angels and then they dropped two out of three to the Chicago Cubs Bowen Francis for a sa young after yesterday's performance I'm kidding please nobody take that seriously uh Pittsburgh Pirates may be the most disappointing team of in the league right now cuz we all were kind of hoping that Pittsburgh would be a team that could do something maybe grab a wild card spot maybe have have some fun and literally since the all since not the urg since the trade deadline they've won two games it feels like they've won two games it was and it was against Seattle over the weekend thanks Seattle um swept twice by the Padre's over the last two weeks swept by the Dodgers they did win a game two weeks ago they got the the losing streak for the Pittsburgh Pirates uh it's too bad 5865 now two and four this week the the Cincinnati Reds are hanging around they're fighting they took three from St Louis all of a sudden it looks like Cincinnati is going to be there then they got swept by Kansas City so maybe not so much 60 and 64 for the Reds they're in at 21 uh that is a uh despite the three and three despite the sweep to Kansas City uh Cincinnati still moving up two spots Pittsburgh falling back to helps that the Texas Rangers also by the way just to keep just to keep keep it scored uh the Rangers going from 22 to 24 the Chicago Cubs in at 20 that is actually a two- spot drop going from 18 to 20 being swept by the Cleveland Guardians that stung Cleveland had not been playing their best baseball and they really still aren't but Cubs you can't get swept by the Cleveland Guardians under those circumstances so that was a bad job uh but bouncing back against Toronto okay good that's what you needed to do but you can't get swept by Cleveland so because of that it's a two and four week for uh the Chicago Cubs and they are they're moving back 61 to 64 now the final team in this group are the Detroit Tigers the Detroit Tigers with a good week a five in one week getting the job done in Williamsport last night swept Seattle to start the week so the Detroit Tigers are hanging around uh not ready to go away just yet but I think look we again the American League is not what the national league is when it comes to the Wild Card you can't be hanging around 500 and still have a chance 61 and 64 I mean again you're showing some life but take it for what it is was a good week again 5- one for the Detroit Tigers so they are in at number 19 moving up two spots so let's get let's keep the likes coming in everybody because when we get to that like goal as you all know we will have a popup poll and you will get to have a say on either the next three teams in this group or once we get into the top 10 based on how this is going I think it'll be inside the top 10 conversation I'm not I'm not uh I'm not I'm not crazy I I I could see we're probably going to be inside the top 10 by the time we get there and that's hey you know what that's that's maybe better for you guys if you want to have uh to say for a more important portion of the of the power rankings let's get 18 through 16 on the board yeah let's get the rest of the back half and then we'll focus on the top half that back half group we're going to see the Cardinals the Giants and the Rays pop up are we ready to bury the Cardinals at this point I think we are uh they've gone now for they were 16 last week down to 18 after winning one game this week swept by the Cincinnati Reds they only got one game against the the Los Angeles Dodgers it's a setting now it's a situation where the wild card spot I think we all probably feel confident that San Diego and Arizona will grab look barring a collapse these two teams seem to be look they're getting healthy musk grve is back for San Diego Arizona the rotation is finally complete and full with rrod being back and it feels like now they can gain some momentum Arizona scores runs better than anybody so I feel like Arizona San Diego there's two of your wild card spots so you're looking for that third and final wild card spot St Louis really going to be in that conversation I don't think so no no no chance so St Louis in the end even though there was a I'm sorry Cardinal fans a fun month this was kind of It kind of felt like this was the way it was going to go and here we are they they maybe hang around 500 they finish 81 and 81 which I feel like is a terrible place to be because you don't know if you need to dismantle or put more into it if you're 81 and 81 at the current state age that this team is in anyway so how do we go about this is going to be challenging for the Cardinals I think I really don't I don't feel good about the direction that they're headed so they're in at number 18 and it's probably done the San Francisco Giants are a team that you got to do better than what you did last week you had chance to do damage against a team that's in that hunt for that third and final wild card spot now whether it ends up being the final Wild Card spot's a whole different thing the Braves could win 20 games in September and take the top wild card spot but the point is there is really one more wild card spot in our mind that might be available and If You're San Francisco and you get to go up against that one of the that other team because really it feels like it's San Francisco New York and Atlanta are the three teams buying for that other NL Wild Card spot you can't drop three out of four to the Atlanta Braves that is what happened second fewest runs scored over the last week for the San Francisco Giants just don't have the Firepower with the bats Giants are in at 17 63 and 63 holding at 17 the Rays the rays are above 500 the Rays were swept by the Astros and then swept the Diamondbacks now we'll talk more about that rays and Diamondback series when we get to the Diamondbacks but it was still a sweep of the Diamond Backs so a three and three week for the Rays just hanging around 62 and 61 this isn't even a there's no Randy there's no wander there's no mclanahan rasmus's just getting back spr the it's a a a fraction of the team they'll be next year and they're able to hang around 500 good job by by the way 62 and 61 after a 3 and three week all right now we'll get into this 15413 group before we get into the 12 through 10 uh 17 astral 22 you are thanking for Kikuchi hey man he's going to do some good things for you down the stretch I feel like after everything the Astros gave up for Kikuchi isn't there a strong burning desire to extend him there has to be right you at the end of the day you got a good pitcher who's going to do good things for you down the stretch but if he still walks and you gave up three three players with six years of control each it still kind of stings especially when nobody paid that price like that's not what Jack flarity didn't go for that much the other top rentals in this market didn't go anywhere near that still think again maybe maybe this just creates more of a desire to extend it but do you need them moving forward I don't know if you need them moving forward anyway we can talk more about the Astros and Kikuchi in a minute let's dig into this group of this group before the before we get into that 12 1110 uh in at 15 let me get to my board let me get to the right screen here we go uh in at number 15 we're going to find the Seattle Mariners taking that number 15 spot Seattle 64 and 61 now on the season one win this week one win for a team that we're supposed to take Serious are are we they have to be at this point I feel like it was Toronto the first half of the season now at this point the Seattle Mariners to their fan base have to be the most infuriating team maybe Atlanta maybe Braves fans you want to say hey wait no right here right here bud um I feel like Seattle even more so Atlanta you're still probably going to make the playoffs if I had to if I had to put money down on it I would say Atlanta is going to grab a wild card spot Seattle May Miss I know it's only August 19th but I'm ready to say that Seattle's not going to make the playoffs how how one win against Detroit and against Pittsburgh inexcusable unacceptable you can't and what's it's the same old thing that I've been saying for I don't know how long now strikeouts nobody struck out more than the Seattle Mariners over the last week congratulations Julio Rodriguez is back and here's a perfect I mean this is classic I know it's not this past week but it was the Sunday before Julio Rodriguez returns against the Mets on the Sunday struck out five times welcome back he strikes out five times in his return um Randy's not helping here you go Miller and woo pitched phenomenally this week Mariners F Mariners fans at this point you probably checked out so if you're not a Mariners fan this is just I mean this is more fuel on the fire for for what's wrong with Seattle woo went seven Innings didn't allow a run Miller also went seven Innings didn't allow a run neither of them got a win and the team lost both of those games you can't H that can't happen can't can't they're dead they're done sorry this team I know there's time but it just feels like there's nothing there they swept the Mets two weekends back outside of that though they dropped two out of three to Detroit the week to start the week before last what are he be doing Seattle maybe again the most infuriating team for a fan base that's 15 number 14 only moving up one spot and I'm wondering where this where this fan base feels right now I got to check in and watch a a Wy live stream I haven't I haven't caught one in a while I really would love to know the feeling in Mets land right now Mets fans that are here right now let me hear it what's the feeling for the New York Mets it was a three and three week dropped two out of three to Oakland took two out of three from Miami srino complete Game shout out on Saturday manah Peterson looking good Blackburn on the on Deadline day I told you you'd like Paul Blackburn do you like Paul Blackburn now he's got four starts and only one of those four has he allowed more than one run three out of four starts one run uh he's been good rotation is feeling pretty solid right now is it it uncertain feeling right now in in in in Mets land Lindor Alonzo Vientos all led the way with the bats over this last week and Mark Vientos damn it if there's one player from the New York Mets that I had been rooting for over the last year and a half it was Mark Vientos and I'll tell you why uh Buck showa Walter and and that that that staff last year obviously didn't give a [ __ ] about Mark Vientos they call him up he'd sit on the bench nothing even this year's group David Sterns and that whole group you got Mark vento sitting there but they signed JD Martinez now I was rooting for JD Martinez to the New York Mets at that point because I wanted the Mets to make splash I felt like the Mets needed more with the bats and we had not seen Vientos but to see him excelling makes me feel so good because I root for underdogs I root for guys that are not given the chance and and sometimes that's what they need is the chance and Vientos Vientos now 19 home runs on the season an 889 Ops Brett batty was the chosen one even though Brett batty sucked let's let's call it what it is let's let's have some Mets talk for a minute Brad batty sucked and they kept trotting him out there and Mark Vientos would get called up and sit the bench bentos finally gets chance bentos I mean he ranked in the miners I like it I'm glad Vientos had Vientos with a good week last week Vientos with a great season happy for the guy so this is going to be interesting to see what happens with the Mets because again we're back that conversation about that final wild card spot that third wild card spot because I I'm I'm pretty feeling pretty good about San Diego and Arizona getting two of those spots so it's that third spot do you think Mets fans you can topple the Braves cuz that's what it's going to come down to the Giants are the underdog and the whole thing they're still looming but they really got those bats got to wake up the pitching is Blake Snell is pitching like a sa young again great but if you're you don't really if you're the met you don't have to worry about the Giants right now it's more about the Braves can you topple the Braves I don't think anybody outside of Queens outside of Mets Nation thinks you can I'm wondering if you think you can cuz that's what it's going to take because those other two wild card spots are gone now in my opinion at dinner Bells yes they did they moved up from 25 to 23 we're throwing a party there's a parade there's a parade scheduled in Toronto later for this uh this two spot jump Jimmy does not feel it pro N I think the Mets miss it but the Braves have been very sloppy the Braves have been sloppy but that's isn't that part of it don't you feel here okay I I hate to we're stuck up on the Mets for a minute but we we'll do this don't you kind of feel like the Mets are achieving the absolute most they can don't like look at it this way I feel like the Mets are at the ceiling of their potential and the Braves are have not even have not been able to scratch it yet and part of it's been injuries and now two of those guys aren't coming back Ronald is not coming back strider's not coming back so you have what you have there you get Michael Harris back he's looking good he's getting some hits I like what Michael Harris has been doing but but my feeling is that and Riley's there's a Riley thing we'll talk about that there's it just feels like the Mets are achieving their Max potential right now and the Braves are not which leads me to believe that the Braves have more room to grow still in this short six weeks or so that we have left until the postseason feels like the Braves have more room to grow and the Mets are absolutely at their Peak right now all right let's get to number 13 it's a good talk about the Mets good talk uh Dinner Bell you'd rather be the Mets over the Mariners me too me too uh dead dead on Duck or deck on Duck Braves are done this year loow hitting pitching is very iffy no no I understand that but we know AA Riley's got to be okay we know O'Reilly's better than this we know Matt Olson is better than this we know Max Freed's going to get back and there's so many things we know the Braves can still do and that the players can still unlock I feel like the Mets what maybe Pete Alonzo going to hit a little bit better I feel like the Mets are peing this is the best you're srino is not going to get any better manah is not going to get any better there's no Dark Knight coming out like like Max freed again we still got to get see Max freed get back to his his his his level of play the Mets still really have anybody like that that they're waiting for that guy to get back to their level of play kodai senga came back and he went right back out the here he comes there he goes so that's what I'm saying Mets it's been fun it has been fun all right let's get to that number 13 team and it is the team we're talking about right now the Atlanta Braves I got the Braves in at 13 they are 66 and 58 two games better than the New York Mets moving up one spot from 14 to 133 after a 5 and two week this was a take care of your business week going up against San Francisco again San Francisco is a looming threat they're in the rear view it was one of those situations where if you drop three out of four to San Francisco it's one of those objects in Mirror are closer than they appear situation if you drop three out of four but you took the three changes the whole landscape changes the scenario for the next couple of weeks you took care of business head-to-head against a team that was a threat three out of four great job to start the week and then you didn't slip up with the angels you took two out of three from the angels I like it Braves did a good job azuna is crushing the ball 12 for 27 lorano three home runs over the last week Harris is back six for 22 got to see what happens with Riley hit on the right hand the x-rays were negative let's see does he miss time does he have pain does he have discomfort what's the deal with with Austin Riley that's going to be a big piece cuz he's a guy we have not seen him unlock his his the level of play that we know he can be so that's a that is a factor that you have to keep in your mind for September in September Austin Riley could have an Austin Riley kind of month if he's there and if he does that that upgrades this team uh from a pitching perspective Morton looked good this week sale was great this week he's got 14 wins now creeping up on 200 St outs could get it next time out he hasn't Eclipse surpassed 200 strikeouts in a season since 2019 is Chris S the Sai Young Chris Sale might actually be the NL sa at this point don't put any money towards that because that's unlikely again if you put money towards Corbin Burns at this point you're hoping or betting on essentially a scoble injury in the AL it is Aaron judge Bobby Wood Jr is second best we'll talk more about Bobby Wood Jr I man the season we'll talk more about Bobby Wht in a minute but again if you put money on Bobby Wht at this point you're hoping for judge to get hurt uh the Rookie of the Year Colton cower I'm kind of surprised Colton cower the favorite to that degree Langford did not do what we thought he could do I feel like I mean I don't know Abu Luis heel the AL rookie of the year is kind of become a very I don't I'm underwhelmed I'll put it that way here we go the NL sa young right now Chris Sale is minus 350 that's why we wanted to get over here Chris S is minus 350 you got Paul skes you got Zack Wheeler again if you want to hedge on chrisel if Chris Sale gets hurt wheeler at plus 300 that's kind of what you're doing at this point if you go in and put anything down on Wheeler if you put anything down on wit if you put anything down on burns you're essentially hoping or betting on an injury to one of those guys I mean look the Corbin Burns at plus 700 you throw $10 down on that you bring 70 back I want to see if we have one that's that that's a clear like this could swing in the NL MVP showy Otani is the runaway there and it really will be nobody that challenges there the NL Rookie of the Year Paul SK followed by Jack samaro that one could be interesting got to think skin is I mean there's really again you're looking at opportunities for somebody to either get shut down or get hurt do skes get shut down and not finished the season strong even if he does he's even if he gets shut down and doesn't pitch the last couple of weeks of the Season which I don't think will happen but if it does he's still probably winning the NL young so we've got Chris sa at minus 350 okay favorite with wheeler right behind him Hunter Green's been really good by the way hunter green I think secretly quietly outside of Cincinnati circles go look at hunter green numbers these been great we haven't been talking about them here in power ranking because the Reds have been in the back half but the hunter green situation okay this feels like there's room the AL Rookie of the Year feels like there's room I don't know if Colton cower is going to hold on to that this is going to be a close one this is one that feels like it's going to come down to that last month I'm going throw I'm going to take Luis heel I'm going to throw 25 at Lis Hill to win 125 for him to grab the a rookie there because I think that can be had again bet Us number one online sports book check it out we spent longer on that three teams are going to be the Red Sox Dbacks and the Royals which team gets the 10 spot Red Sox are 65 and 58 after a 4 and3 week we had them at number 12 last week the Diamondbacks are 69 and 56 we had them eight last week but they went three and three they were just swept by Tampa the Kansas City Royals are 69 and 55 they just put together a 4 and two we they swept Cincinnati this is a tough call the Royals with 69 wins the Diamondbacks with 69 wins and the Red Sox with 65 if you're just going on wins you would eliminate the Boston Red Sox there Boston this week though they showed that they can hang with the best of them splitting a four game set in Baltimore but do you want KC in this is how the AL Wild card's going to go because it'll be the Yankees of the Orioles grabbing a division and a wild card it'll be the Guardians and the twins grabbing a division and a wild card so that's going to leave one Wild Card left it ain't going to be Seattle Kansas City or Boston we're voting here for the top 10 but it's probably going to come down down to Kansas City or Boston for that final wild card spot uh Boston finally gets Tristan Cassis back and he's hitting likey never left he hadn't played since what April couple multi-hit games over the weekend against the Baltimore Orioles Yoshida since the All-Star break it's been unbelievable yosida with 34 hits and an Ops over a thousand since the allstar break Ba's looking good Hal is looking better but they don't have enough in thead ation big fat Miss yet again from a player transaction perspective by this Red Sox group and I don't know I don't know if it's on the front office I don't know if it's on the president of baseball operations I don't know if it's on breslo maybe it's on the ownership proving things but James Paxton was the free was the was the trade deadline Edition James Paxton season's over he got a partially torn calf he was underwhelming as it was and now he's gone it the only one they got Jam Paxton would have been fine if he was a depth Edition and then they made a splash for one of the rentals but they didn't do that and then Luis Garcia the the big relever that they brought in has been a home run machine just giving them up left and right so another failure in that player transaction element by this boss the Red Sox team could cost them uh the Diamond Backs again 69 and 56 cruising until they took a trip to the trop this will happen as a Jay's fan I tell you it's a house of horse because it easily even though it was getting swept by Tampa it easily could have been two out of three in Arizona's favor had the comeback in the first game and then Justin Martinez blew a save took an l and then on Sunday Justin Martinez and what was it the 11th or the 12th uh takes another l so one-run games could have gone either way pitching is getting better for Arizona though the rotation is now whole gallon Monty Rod Kelly fought they're all back let's see them build some momentum now gain some traction with that group in a great position right now they score runs like nobody's business number one runs scoring team in all the baseball Carol is looking good McCarthy's been hitting machine Walker might be a week away from returning maybe a week and a half but things are looking up for Arizona right now and Kansas City Kansas City Royals dropped two out of three to Minnesota but then bounced back and swept a Cincinnati team that looked like they were building some momentum so that's a that was that was a really good job by Kansas City to go into Cincinnati and get the sweep and the last four games Kansas City has played they have not allowed more than one run it's one run each in the last four games so more excellent pitching from this Kansas City rotation bullen's been solid Bobby Wood Jr is still a man on a mission it's like he's trying to win the AL MVP I mean he's just playing his game I don't think he he probably didn't care about it but it's almost like he's trying to win the MVP uh 9 for 22 over the last week with three home runs on the season his Ops is over a th000 he's batting 350 with a 617 slugging doubles and triples Galore 25 homers 25 Steals and 8.3 War he's hitting over 400 at home he's playing Gold Glove defense outs above average tops in the shortstop category 100% tile going to win the Gold Glove unbelievable season from Bobby wit Jr the problem is he's not going to hit 40 homers and steal 60 bases that's essentially what he would have to do to be in the conversation with Aaron judge at this point or again hey look we don't want it to happen but if judge does go down Bobby Wht Jr is going to be the AL MVP but that only happens if judge goes down we don't want that judge is on Pace judge is gonna hit 60 home runs again and post a batting average over 300 over 325 he's at 330 something right now Whit it's been awesome I I really wish I really wish Bobby Wht it could have been you uh we have the results in the Diamond Backs are going to grab that spot let me get my screen back open there we go so it'll be the diamond box going from 8 to 10 then it'll be Kansas City going from 10: to 11 and it is Boston holding at 12 this we're looking at these teams I can see the the the votes right now are not giving any love to the Minnesota Twins I think the twins of these three teams had the best week and again my feeling would be to have the twins at number at number seven but that's not going to happen those watching the replay if you can't you you can't see how the Voting is going it is not going to go the twins way in fact I can even put the twins at number nine right now we'll put the twins on the board at number nine on a vote 70 and 54 are the Minnesota Twins took two out of three from KC took three out of four from Texas good pitching over the last week only once did they allow more than four runs Pablo Lopez has been dependable just one bad start over his last seven after going through a stretch there where he Houston has been a good couple of weeks last week was another five- one over the last two weeks backto back five in1 weeks it is 42% Astros 40% Padres I said when I stopped when I was done with the with the highlighting and the spotlighting uh I was going to hit end pole and that's what's going to happen unless there's a flurry of votes for the Padres that's going to do it we are going to have could just hold them but then that doesn't do any that doesn't do the Dodgers that doesn't do the Brewers that doesn't do the Phillies service because it's tight as it is and they all had good weeks so the 65 and four teams all did better than 321 do we just flipflop 65 and four make them 321 so many ways we could do this we are going to Lucas we are going to have a couple polls I want to I want to try to condense this into two but I feel like I hate to do this I hate to do it to Cleveland all right here's the poll this is going to be a quick one should Cleveland drop to six yes or no this is should become the number six team then 109 runs since the All-Star break is 23rd before the all star break they were 10th in run scor so Cleveland is not scoring runs at the same clip they were before reasons being Steven Quan he's hitting 225 since the All-Star break he was hitting 352 so a table setter and a guy who's knocking in any of the guys that were getting on at the bottom of the lineup that's not happening right now David fry out of nowhere was hitting the ball really well had an 853 Ops the first half of the Season he's down to 688 right now and Elane Thomas since coming over from the Nats is not helping six hits for Lane Thomas since he was dealt at the trade deadline he's got that's a 151 slugging no home runs for Lan Thomas so he's hurting it is 80% yes 20% no on should Cleveland drop to six we're going to put the Guardians at six that is enough so what will also happen keep this in mind this is going to be something that will will not be official until the stream is top three so we're going to bounce one will it be Milwaukee will it be La will it be Philly will it be Baltimore talking about Philly real quick 73 and 51 4- two over the last week took three out of four from Washington over the long weekend pitching has not been as good in the second half as it was the first half granted it's only been a month but the erra is more than a run higher than it was the first half of the Season too many runs off the bullpen and outside of Wheeler the rotation feels like a mixed back Ranger Suarez is set to return next weekend and he's been out a month that is going to be a big boost uh B Rojas casianos and schwarber have been really good in the second half Harper isn't really Harper right now neither's Trey Turner they need more more from stot they need more from Marsh they need more from real Muto the Milwaukee Brewers 72 and 52 one of the best bullpens in baseball they've won five in a row now and that 11 game lead in the central that is the one division that feels like it's done that is the one that I can say today on August 18 or August 19th forget it it's over the Brewers are the central Champs they have the fourth lowest ER over the last month Bullpen it's been fantastic uh but led by Williams and pamps Colin Ray and Tobias Meyers have been just out of nowhere uh helping lead the way with this rotation and if Peralta could bring the walks down that Trio at the top of that rotation could be enough to be tough uh in October William conteras might be the best C hitting catcher in baseball Ops is 8/19 17 homers the Dodgers 73 and 52 10 and 6 in August 17 and 11 since the allstar break and guys are coming back Betts is back Freeman jammed his finger but he's back he'll be fine Miguel Rojas since he came back he's on a 10- game hitting streak Gavin Lux has been really good lately flarity two wins in hisory starts kers chars look good three in a row now Stone we're going to see what happens with glass now you see what happens with Yamamoto Yamamoto starting to throw some pitches I don't know how long glass now's going to be out but they're getting guys back and then there are the Orioles 73 and 52 a 500 teams since the All-Star break uh 8 and8 in August one run games they are struggling the bullpen ER is back half of the league back bottom 10 in the league for that Bullpen they went three and three this week pitching has been a struggle their team erra is a run higher since the all star break than it was the first half of the Season there's no there there there's there's no bradish no Grayson Rodriguez Burns has had some rough outings the pen is giving up too much runs Sir Anthony Dominguez is the closer now it's Albert Suarez and Zack effin those two have been good so it's not an insult to say those two are leading the rotation because they've been good but it's Albert Suarez and Zack effin that are leading the rotation it's what it's been lately anyway so the voting on this one the team that is going to get removed from the top five conversation or the top three conversation the Brewers are at 36% leading the way then it's the Phillies at 29 then the Orioles at 19 the Dodgers at 16 so the Brewers with 35% are going to go to the number four spot which is still a nice jump from 6 to four for the Milwaukee Brewers sounds a little backhanded of a compliment because they just lost the vote they just got eliminated but they have not been this High all season five was the highest they were and that was about two months ago so they're up to four good job by the Milwaukee Brewers have not been number one since the sixth week of this thing that's insane to think this Dodger team has not been number one since 1 2 3 4 five six it has been six weeks since the Dodgers were in the top spot that's crazy the Phillies could be back the Philadelphia Phillies they were last at the top a month ago it's been a month for the Philadelphia Phillies since they were at the top spot they have been number one four times this year the Dodgers have been number one just that one week back in the sixth week of our power rankings and the Baltimore Orioles if they hold on here they will be at the number one spot for the second straight week and it will be the fifth see one 2 three 4 it will be the fifth week at number one for the Baltimore Orioles if they hold on it is 43% Orioles 36% Dodgers 20% Phillies get your votes in guys we're going to put the Phillies in at number three because that's not going to change so the Phillies will be rising from 5 to three and it is really a battle right now between the Orioles and the Dodgers it looks like the Orioles are going to hold on every last vote let's get them in it is going to be it's close man it is close just a few more
