THE MAYOR'S OFFICE, THEY HAVE BEEN FIRED AFTER REPORTEDLY TO HELP CONDUCT THE BROOKLYN BAR OWNER WHO HAD TROUBLE WITH POLICE OF THE BROTHER OF THE NOW FORMER POLICE COMMISSIONER, EDWARD CABAN. THE OWNER OF THIS CONEY ISLAND BAR, THE ONE WITH THE SECURITY GATES DOWN, IS THE REASON WHY CITY HALL SUDDENLY FIRED A COMMUNITY AFFAIRS AID TO MAYOR ADAMS, WHO PREVIOUSLY WORKED IN THE ENTERTAINMENT AND NIGHT LIFE UNIT. THEY HAD SAY RAY MARTIN WAS FIRED AFTER THE BAR OWNER CLAIMED MARTIN SUGGESTED HE CALL THE POLICE COMMISSIONER'S TWIN BROTHER, JAMES CABAN, IF HE NEEDED HELP IN STOPPING POLICE ENFORCING NOISE COMPLAINTS. JAMES CABAN WANTED $2,500 PAY UPFRONT. WE INVESTIGATED THE COMPLAINTS, FIRED HIM THE SAME DAY, SAID A SPOKESPERSON FOR THE MAYOR. BUT JAMES CABAN'S LAWYER INSISTED THEIR CLIENT HAD DONE NOTHING WRONG. MR. CABAN UNEQUIVOCALLY DENIES ANY WRONG DOING. HIS WORK AS A CONSULTANT AND ACTING AS A LIAISON BETWEEN A DEPARTMENT AND A PRIVATE COMPANY IS PERFECTLY LEGAL. THIS IS EDWARD CABAN'S RESIGNATION AS POLICE COMMISSIONER, OFFICIALLY TOOK EFFECT AND INTERIM POLICE COMMISSIONER, THOMAS DONLON TOOK THE OATH OF OFFICE. CABAN WAS ONE OF THE MAYOR'S INNER CIRCLE SUBJECTED TO RAIDS. AND SHEILA AND CBS NEWS NEW YORK'S POLITICAL TALK SHOW, THE POINT, DAVID BANKS SAID HE HAD DONE NOTHING WRONG AND IS COOPERATING WITH THE INVESTIGATION. IF A STUDENT OR A TEACHER WERE TO COME UP TO YOU AND ASK YOU WHAT'S GOING ON, WHAT WOULD YOUR ANSWER BE TO THEM? >> I THINK WHAT I WOULD SAY TO THEM IS THAT IN LIFE, YOU MAY HAVE CHALLENGES, BUT ALWAYS HOLD YOUR HEAD HIGH.
