nice little Casual Friday show ahead of the Broncos preseason finale no no no we were off yesterday and uh some news broke unfortunately bu Brock that has bled into today what can you tell us about Darius Robinson well look I mean it's two players that we're going to talk about primarily today outside of the final preseason game that uh were expected to have huge roles for the Cardinals and and mentioned D Rob with the latest on his injury and then of course you've got Z Jones who's had a five-game suspension for an incident that happened back last November uh was thrown courts in March but as far as D Rob's concerned got to the Arizona Darius Robinson injury update Cardinals facility this morning got to hear from Jonathan Ganon uh straight from his mouth just giv us an update on Dr robob um so you know we'll get into it as soon as we have Ganon locked and loaded as far as his comments on his first year player that's expected to play a versal ro in this defensive line um it's look it's scary to hear that you know Robinson's staring down an injury on a defensive front seven that uh really couldn't sustain uh to lose much of any other of their players especially a guy that has huge expectations like the 27th overall pick yeah people in the chat Azie JG wasn't happy uh K2 JG was pissed I think before we even jump into the conversation surrounding you know Darius Robinson his potential I I think I hope temporary absence not permanent absence um you know yesterday respectfully that's why I love this community getting DMS getting you know notifications what's going on um and and this show opted to just kind of wait to hear from Jonathan Ganon Bo you were at practice yesterday and and I'll let you kind of walk everybody through kind of what the structure of practice is and then we didn't have a show yesterday yeah we didn't have a show it was a scheduled off day for us because we're were going to be uh firing up the mics and the cameras on uh Sunday give you a nice little preseason finale show halftime and postgame um so we were just taking a Thursday off still went to practice as we as I always do and covering things and and things change right I mean throughout training camp especially during the open public open to the public practices anything that happens on the practice field fully you can report those are called open practices um things Tighten Up When the Crowds go away and you're usually a lotted anywhere from 20 to 25 minutes uh which is called open you know uh portion of practice and then there's close which you know it's non-negotiable you can't report anything that happens or anything that you might observe uh during the time you could still be out there but you know you can't shouldn't tell a peep you know that wasn't there uh along with you so um as far as just how I operate you know during the closed por portion of practice just don't report anything from it um you know that that's just a bit separate from you know what we're kind of discussing now but you know there there's reports out there yesterday uh that came from the practice field and people caught when that something happened to Darius and then this morning Jonathan Ganon was asked about it Damon dog if you would uh here's jg's reaction in response yeah um reports that came out that happened in the closed portion of practice so I'm not real up about that guys the guys that were there um that didn't report on it thank you to adhering to our policy uh he's getting Imaging today he's got a calf so getting some Imaging done I I don't know when he didn't specify today GNA have his calf looked at um you know it like I I think when you hear a player of importance and going to play a big role has suffered an injury like you you you think the worst right I mean same thing happen it happened with BJ oari like you you dodged a bullet early in training camp with your starting center and yell a frol he jokes he I got strong ligaments uh and unfortunately you know seconde pass rusher suffers and sustains a serious ACL injury or just knee injury we don't know if it's ACL or which ligament but is is is sidelined for the entire season so you know you're waiting with de baited breath to figure out you know what what's next for a key player for the Cardinals that uh they view as a building block like we we talked to um to to B Brian baldinger he's like they're building this thing Brick by Brick and Darius is one of those bricks yeah absolutely and again like respectfully there was there was stuff put out on Twitter yesterday and those people can can do what they want to do and then this podcast is going to operate differently today and I think anytime that you're speculating an injury before you hear from the source himself Darius the trainer the and then through an extension of the head coach or the GM like it's it's tough man and you know we had heard about it you know through the tea leaves yesterday and you would you know at the end of the day you know you're just you're you're a fan at heart and you're hoping he's going to be okay it's you know there are times where you know we'd like to come the show and and break news and we want to be first and then there are times that you know I I had heard about yesterday I was just sick to my stomach I just didn't just at no point was my reaction to just like let's get news out there and if if that's what people look for this podcast you know that's that's unfortunate and I don't think they do um you know if there's a free agent signing we get wind of or there's a trade on the horizon like absolutely you know but right I darius's Health was the priority yesterday right and into today and the good news is you know I've heard some things and Josh wifus has heard some things Bo you've heard some things where like sounds like they avoided like worst case scenario with Darius like I don't I don't want to speculate again like right how long he's gonna be out and surgeries or anything like that but from from you know I'll just say this from what I've heard thumbs up I I I think they're hopeful so I think you plan on it with the utmost caution like they did with Kyler Murray last year they showed last year like not going to rush anybody back Darius is a rookie he 23 24 years old he's I think he's only 23 he's part of their longterm plan so I I think like State of the defensive line without Darius if you can get by for the first couple weeks of the regular season without Darius you do that and yeah the Arizona Cardinals unlike the past rushing group with BJ o jalari and I and I know that o jalari and and was gonna have some of his weight carried by Robinson he was going to kick out maybe on occasion you have two free agent signings and bow Nichols and Justin Jones you have Dante Stills you have LJ CER you've got of course Damon's boy Roy Lopez you've got you've got five guys that like if you gotta make it three or four weeks which I'm hopeful that's all it will be you should be able to get through it like would you love to have Darius Robinson against Buffalo of course and against the Lions offensive line but like you ought to be able to beat Washington without him and then yeah you need to win one of those other three games so I I thought yesterday based on kind of what we were speculating it was worst case scenario and now yeah feel good about you know the potential we're hopeful that that it's minimal right no look is when you look at the debt taking a guy out like d potentially out of the equation um it it it takes your margin it's it just makes your margin for error almost non-existent right like Justin Jones and Balon Nichols have to be the guys that they were signed to be and guys like Stills and and Roy Lopez going into the second season uh under ganet and rless like they needed to take a jump and and those were things that needed to happen anyway but now like going into Buffalo week one and and going into uh coming home and taking get on the Los Angeles Rams even though you know their offensive line is is is completely deteriorated throughout the last couple weeks uh you know you still need you still need with the way they they like to run the football um between the Rams and the Lions weeks two and three you need a defensive line but you know after Ganon relayed the information revealed what was go actually going on uh our great you know beat reporter uh Craig Morgan just kind of looked into you know calf injuries and there's a couple different uh types right there's the grade one there's grade two there's grade three and you know um you know the grade one I'll just read it the muscle stretch causing some small micro tears in the muscle fibers recovery takes approximately two to four weeks if you do all the right things so grade two is a partial tear the muscle fibers full recovery can take approximately four to eight weeks in a good rehab and then great three is the most severe calf strain which is complete tear rupture of muscle fibers and the lower leg full recovery can take three to four months and in some instances surgery may be needed so those are that that's what you're staring down and to try to figure out you know which one it is like I I don't I think you should just pause and wait until you hear word potentially the next time we hear from from Ganon probably not in a postgame press conference situation like the finale on Sunday but but maybe after that you'll get some more insight about what they learned today yeah absolutely um and and hearken back to the reporting thing there's there's some gray area as a mention with like signings trades stuff that you catch wind of but then there's you know there's black and white there's you know Clos practice open practice if it's closed you can't do anything something happens you can't follow up on it because can't report on that so that's it's it's pretty cut and dry yeah yeah I mean the number one thing is looking out for Darius and making sure and you could tell today that was a coach protecting his player and and making sure that when it comes to injuries the team and I don't always agree with the team driving a narrative like they drive the narrative on an injury because it's their it's their people it's their employees it's their F this is a family to JG and and you don't ever want it out there especially with a kid who's 23 years old that's that's on the cusp of I mean he's had a tremendous Camp he's a tremendous human being we've had him on this show and again like we're crossing our fingers reading the tea leaves it sounds like they avoided like a catastrophe but you want to let things play out um but you also just you know we it's kind of the good and bad we live in this this TW Twitter age where you know everybody wants to be first or you want to be able to to say hey that's associated with my brand or the company I work for and I'm guilty of that you've been guilty of that everybody has in one way shape or form but you know this this was a situation which you know yesterday was about the person Darius Robinson and so yeah thumbs up that hopefully and again like I have no problem Bo quoting Josh weinfest who's a friend of this program who works for ESPN saying that he says the source told him that it's hopefully gon to be okay so I'm just comfortable rolling with that this time for sure so that would Pro I mean you just look at the different it's probably a grade one or grain two right between one of those two so I mean conservatively again I hate doing this because guys can heal fast guys can be freaks in nature or you could take a little bit more time I mean like I I read this morning Ricky purol the Niners thought he'd be okay he had some shoulder stuff in the off season dating back to Florida and guess what his shoulder's not okay it's just like [ __ ] happens man but here's the biggest thing right now if we don't think that this team is in a position to trade for a pass rusher because that doesn't fit their timeline do you think it fits their timeline to rush back a 23 year old that has his whole future ahead of him like they're not gonna do that either so right um that's a different conversation entirely but we will see Darius I'm confident we'll see Darius this year confident we'll Pro we'll see him before hopefully the Buy and he will play meaningful football for the card interesting to see if he goes if he does a stin on IR or not yeah I mean that's going to be how many games it's a minimum four so I would probably say now I probably think they conservatively maybe put him on if I just I'm just guessing I don't know anything it felt like they now I mean Buddha revealed uh this past off season that his hamstring was torn off the bone so he went on with for the hamstring for four weeks uh James Connor went on the IR for four weeks so it does seem like they do air on the extreme side of caution and make sure that their guys are good to go and come back uh once po once once ready so and and then like once that happens once they they are designated return then they got like that 21 day window which they could be activated you know the next day the very earliest so I mean like just seeing the caution they had last year with Kyler and some of the other players I think I mean I'm sure they love the depth that they've built on the defensive tackle group too like it I mean like it's not it's not oari with you know the covered covered respectfully nearly bare and and again that that injury happened in a in a public practice you know in Glendale and there was a reason why that was reported right away how it was I mean it's just different circumstances but sure yeah it's so that was the last 24 to 36 hours Zay Jones suspended 5 games and then within the last 6 hours Z Jones wide receiver four for the Arizona Cardinals don't get it twisted despite what the national media will tell you is now suspended right now pending um a a push back from Z and his people he he's gonna miss the first five games with what's being called a uh personal condu policy violation B what more can you tell us yeah what pisaro kind of shed some light that this is uh this was a case that was from I think last year that the Florida State attorney's office dropped misdemeanor domestic battery charge against Jones yeah uh when he was on the Jags but then the NFL as they always do they they ran their own investigation which is standard and they returned this five game suspension so Arizona Cardinals threep position you know number one depth piece is uh you know I don't know like usually like these these insiders like peliso rap sheet aolo usually provide if if they're going to appeal and I haven't seen anything as far as Z trying to appeal or if even I'm I'm sure he has the option or if he's just gonna wear it and take the five game suspension and then he also brings up the question this is just you know thinking out loud the what what did the organization know and and this is just my my take on it yeah is you know they I'm sure they're very aware just like the Jaguars were aware that this that the incident happened uh that the Florida State attorney's office dropped it and felt maybe confident that there wouldn't be a suspension and if they did it would it' be minimal um but this seems like this was you know on the higher side than I think anybody maybe anticipated uh people are asking can he appeal I I would assume so um but the Cardinals to your point had to have known that something like this was a possibility um and I think I Echo the comments from the chat the people nationally that that are making I don't want to say it's not a big deal and maybe Z himself knew that something like this was coming but this is this should not impact the Cardinals significantly like we're talking about two position groups that that took a hit today and and darus is easily the bigger temporary loss right two of the deeper position units on the team especially wide receiver and the way the Cardinals want to run their offense like I watched them win games with Michael Wilson Greg dorch and about nothing else at receiver last year and now you've added Somebody by the caliber Marvin Harrison Jr um you you still got I think Chris Moore can fill that role I don't love Zack Pascal but he probably definitely makes the team now um you know Xavier Weaver does this give him life like just some interesting Dynamics now that's the Domino I think that you you start to examine here like it's it I think that you know in in the case of suspensions like we witnessed this with dehop um when he had the the peed violation in 2022 like you can't become the facility so it takes him out of the room until a certain like closer to when the suspension is up does he impact your 53 man roster or is he exempt from the 53 man roster I think as soon as uh as soon as like the roster set I think his suspension goes into into play so do you have to play with 52 or can you no I think you get a roster spot okay well then I think I think you're you put him off to the side and you let one of these rookies run with that rooll or run with that extra spot like if I'm Palmer if I'm Xavier Weaver I I have new life come this weekend but the Cardinals with Elijah Higgins Trey McBride at tight end now tip Ryman I mean they go three deep at tight end they we know they want to run the football and then the the the receiving core that you have I mean it it is at the end of the day a it's a it's a shot because Z's had a tremendous just like darus Z's had a tremendous training camp and super nice guy when we've chatted with him this whole thing is not good right it's it's I mean when you read the report it is not becoming to but the charges were not pursued or they were dropped and but the NFL still said we're going to do an investigation and they should and this is what they came up with so H here's what I'm gonna say it's unfortunate for Zay and if if I were Zay I I would probably just say you know what I'm I'm gonna ride this out and I'll be back and if Johnny Ganon and Monty o for it's the NFL's investigation right like like the I'm I'm sure I think that the chances that you appeal and you win in and you're going You're appealing to with through your Players Association but to the league in the league that had is it it conducted its own investigation it's probably probably just wasting everybody's time and I think anytime you talk about and again you're innocent until proven guilty but it I mean it was you know putting hands on what was it the mother of his child is that what what it was like that's that's tough that's I mean it's hard to even discuss and so if Ganon and Austin for felt comfortable bringing him into the locker room and he's been by all counts a model teammate I think you you just you do your time you come back remain humble and and you try to help this team win come week six but everything that we've seen from from Z Jones shows somebody that that is humble and and approach never I would never have thought this before came out right which again you know you don't know everybody but I from a football standpoint uh if we can keep the focus on that yeah I think you're the top three receivers are all poised for Monster years your tight end is a top three to five tight end your quarterback looks flipping unbelievable I mean that was lost in in yesterday's unfortunate situation Kyler Murray you told me off air like had a tremendous practice and Kyler muray looks awesome so I think they've got so much good stuff going on right now this is this is not what they need no team needs this you know what was it 10 day or not 10 days about two and a half weeks before the opener little bit less than that but it's it is not in my opinion going to impact unless Darius misses significant time going to impact what I think this team can do this year yeah look and you mentioned like Chris Chris Moore um saw him in the joint practice make a big play down the sideline is he a is he a three position guy no no but he can play a role uh when you're you're your top three guys I think are going to there there's not going to be much left on that plate after those guys play a full game together right like if Kyler Murray is able to get them all involved and Trey McBride and James Connor like those depth pieces hopefully you won't have to lean on them for for the five weeks um well and that's you just hit the nail on the head I think Z Jones is insurance if Michael Wilson or or Marvin as those three guys are healthy knock on the biggest piece of wood you got got this beautiful handcrafted desk in front of me yeah mahogany right that's He Is We said this at the time when they sign him he is Insurance well now you need insurance for the insurance the first five weeks of the season so we we did a we did a breakdown a 50 thre man roster prediction uh that we'll we'll release unveil tomorrow on the YouTube channel youi and Craig we talked WRs that could step up about this wide receiver room um and you know you you thought maybe they go five wide receivers you know traditionally you take six so if Z doesn't start the season on the you know obviously he's not going to be active you got that spot I think I think that belong so it would be your big three now Chris Moore Zack Pascal and then you're looking at Xavier Weaver in my opinion I think they that that creates a spot for the undrafted rookie for agion out of Colorado you you push him back for your man Dan I wouldn't have an issue with either but I think they I mean if you're talking about upside I mean I think they would rather go with the kid that they found that had a lot of cache coming out of college do you go t Palms do you go taan Palmer yeah and I don't want to be disrespectful of T TMS I think TMS is in a tough spot because his versatility is not what Xavier Weaver's is like I Xavier Weaver looks good catching the football and returning kicks so I I would be more and people assume that he was he was more polished coming out of Colorado and he has been I would go Xavier Weaver at this point I think could could he be this year's Amari dur makado where you're like okay every year they're going to get a couple guys undrafted where they can come in and make an impact and and see what see what happens so um but I it's Zach Pascal definitely makes the team now uh if he hadn't already um was a little a little bit of a bubble guy but yeah we'll we'll see who can play Team I didn't think I don't think he was that much of a bubble guy okay I mean I could still be proven wrong I I just don't I think that his role with this team is pretty well established yeah and you know it's it's in the Run game as their best blocking wide receiver on teams and also what he provides in the locker room as far as leadership being a veteran voice in that room um and now you got one of your vets that's not going to be with the team for weeks and and you know Pascal is is going to be there for him uh I do appreciate everybody um offering uh their Cales or their calf uh to Darius Robinson like that I that's selfless that's uh that's that's team first approach and I I I'm really thankful for this this chat out there for everybody that that put their their calf as tribute it's winning Behavior it we take all of our calves combined to equal darius's calf um Darius is G be that would be kind of funny if they just take Johnny's little itty bitty calf muscle not but I've seen you actually got some pretty big calves you get some thatn game hens in your in your calves my wife always likes to make fun of my lower body see like because you know when I live it's all cosmetic it none of it's FAL it doesn't do anything for me it's not for Bal and hay or whatever like it's just literally just like what can I do to accentuate when I wear a t-shirt right and I always tell her I joke like she goes you never lift lower body and I said you know what cardio is lower body and she's like it's not and then I put my leg next to you know a professional athlete I remember we used to do the show with Frank Sanders and his lower body would just be one of me so yeah but I I appreciate you know the Kudos today we need some humor levity yeah temporarily after losing BJ oari maybe that only emphasizes that I texted somebody that last night I'm like do you think like if this Darius injury is worst case scenario I don't think they'll make a move because I think it further emphasizes that they're not a player away and I got push back on that so maybe they will make a move he'll confidently wear it if he does like's he's not going to be swayed by you know the the angry mom that feels like and there is like there's a big need on the defensive front still I mean was before D robs injury and and continues to be but um yeah he's he's not GNA he's not gonna have uh anything kind of sway a different direction on in this for this rebuilding our guy uh how about doc XD um using the frustration of injuries to fuel my workout all right there you go whatever motivation you need I mean Johnny revealed his to to look good in his his t-shirts his phnx locker T's and then you're just you're just probably in the lab trying to be the healthiest possible best version of yourself you know what at the end of the day you know we love the grind doc XT and um yeah hope to see you in the wait room one day my friend uh PR Mack five superat on the bench pass rush has to show up this season fans are not going to accept injury excuses teams will attack the weaknesses season ticket holders need to speak I agree with a lot of that here's what I will say P I think they they did enough in my opinion to be able to survive of temporary Darius Robinson absence I respect their moves I think they were smart they hit on a late round pick last year defensive tackle they flushed the position group we asked them to do that and they followed through with that the defensive tackle group is substantially better the edge rushing group is an eyesore in my opinion and I don't think they were proactive enough to to help themselves now I could be could be wrong but that I mean when you're watching the Bears trade for pass rush help in the in the Falcons two teams that you could potentially be competing for a playoff spot against like that Cardinal fans don't love that so I'm with you like Optics are at some point like help the team for this year yeah help this group right now that has put forth very nice camp they're competing the offense looks like a complete the offense to me is going to be a top 10 unit it's going to be a juggernaut it's going to have to carry this team but when it's third down n and you need desperately need a stop see if there's somebody that fits that bill that can help this team there I think there are I think there are a couple different guys but will Monty aen for pull the trigger that's the question B I mean if he doesn't if you don't think it galvaniz as a fan base just look at the Bears pulling off a trade today it woke our Guy Greg Braggs Jr up out of anesthesia like he was he was going under a knife and he probably couldn't get away from his phone and buzzed and hey the Bears are making a move and he's pump he's fired up about it back from yeah back from anesthesia nap some say we wouldn't do that I'm I'm saying we would do it I would do it come on no doubt my mind we would do that was it during Camp you got to give credit to the grounds Keepers there that it was it was it held up very well and and they had you know very few incidents uh absolutely uh and again like West this year against the Chiefs and um Jim harbon company that'll be so is Jared's that just shows it's Jared sdams the backup and then Zack Wilson's either going to be cut or roster is the third quarterback trade bait trade bait Bronco fans think might get a mid-rounder for him he plays well on Sunday um second overall pick second overall pick on his rookie contract is going to start the majority or play the majority he not starting because THM is he's gonna play the majority of the the last preseason game that's crazy stm's starting but but yeah Wilson he needs the Reps according to Shawn Payton we get him more exposure to the offense um so you you get to stomach that hopefully the Cardinal defense whomever's out there is going to hold their own and then offensively once again this is reported by rapi Clayton tun's going to start for the Cardinals the second week in a row Desmond Ritter mop-up Duty you would assume they're going to split halves again uh and again now this this news with Darius this news with Z Jones gives some some younger guys a chance to shine uh they added a bunch of usfl players this week they added some Street free agents presumably give them an opportunity go go out and put some tape together for the rest of the NFL but I mean what are you watching for this weekend ahead of Sunday Bo yeah you're looking for some guys to to Really lock down those those depth spots on this team like is there going to be second teamers out there you know guys who are going to be high volume snap backups I think that you'll see maybe a few of those sprinkled in but mostly guys they going to fill out the 53 guys that are going to get you know most of their roles are is going to be on special teams this new kickoff format and and punt kick uh you know return and and uh uh punt uh what am I thinking about punt return and of course uh be the team you know punting the ball away yeah strugle through that so look I mean it's is it the most exciting thing are you gonna get to see you know a lot of great football on display probably not but are you going to see some guys that have put you know great effort throughout OTAs in the training camp and the preseason kind of get to finish it off I I think so let's take a look at some notables this week B Damon dog do we have who's got the most on the line this week uh prove it deals prove it most to gain uh Who has most to gain in preseason vs. Broncos? how about this against the Broncos I think Clayton tune has a chance to continue to help himself I don't think anything Clayton does this weekend though Bo would behoove the Cardinals from ignoring like a notable veteran that that was cut we saw the Bengals already make some releases today but I think Clayton tune can what he can do is he can really stiff arm Desmond Ritter to the turf like he can basically say like as far as this roster is constructed currently I'm the second best quarterback here until somebody else is brought in yeah like as far as let's continue the work that we put in getting back to this organization using a fifth round pick on him and uh just the the belief that he could be you know a backup for this for in the NFL for 10 years let's just let's just continue that Journey here and uh if he comes out and I think if he plays like he has the previous two preseason games which haven't been perfect by any stretch but they've been an improvement from what we've seen uh previous from Clayton tune um you know I think that he can he can lock in a a roster spot then if they want to try to tweak things and if they they see somebody maybe with a a higher floor or maybe a higher ceiling that becomes available between now and uh you know when the rest of the teams and the Cardinals cut cut from 90 to 53 um you still need somebody with with um you know some experience in this in this uh system so I think Clayton tune with a good performance can can lock all that up come Sunday Amari D Marcado battling with the likes of Michael Carter Jr de Marcado was okay last week had missed time with a shoulder injury himself um you look at the landscape of this running back group you figur DJ Dallas is probably safe of course Trey Benson and James Conor you know now with this situation at receiver like maybe they'd be less likely to keep four backs you know I don't think it's realistic to keep five you know D Marcado I I think needs a good outing Sunday I think he needs to be undeniable because we know what Michael Carter brings to the table savviness veteran you know resume experience was ahead of D Marcato last year I don't care what that depth chart says like I I think everybody in this fan base is going to be dejected respectfully D Marcado if he makes this team over Michael Carter now if there's a scenario we both make it awesome but you know for D Marcado like to be the the primary backup behind James Conor is that's Trey Benson right now but the change of pace back the back that you can say go out and catch a pass be shift in the open field like I think Trey Benson can eventually do that but you can't tell me like DJ Dallas does that better than Michael Carter de Marcado I mean go watch last year the Cardinals were down 21 to3 against the Eagles what sparked them that the drive that they came back and Kyler Murray had a touchdown pass who was it to was to Michael Carter breaking ankles in the open field he's a tremendous pass catcher that wasn't NE Marano I'm sorry so I just I'm rooting for the kid but I'm not rooting for him over Michael Carter from what I've seen it's a production business B yeah and like you've seen what you wanted to from pass Pro right on third down you've seen you know he can handle a spot on special teams now you need to see if he if he can make and get big chunk yards in the Run game and I think that that hopefully he gets the opportunity upcoming Sunday I think he will uh to maybe show that he can be that back but you know as far as what we outline as far as the different roles in the running back room I just don't see anything where outside of third Downs um that that he is is you know a better option than the guys that they already have on on the roster and and and don't have maybe some of the tools that that you know a Carter has that that can has already proven he can make big plays in The Run game so um I think he's really the guy on this list that that even with a good performance like you can come Monday or Tuesday uh they're you know still could be looking for work or making his way onto the practice squad speaking of looking for work this pass rush group I think is Ever Changing Monday could be different from Tuesday could be different frankly from waiver claims on Wednesday Jesse Letta who is the highest graded Defender last week against the Colts has a chance I think to reemerge as the option ahead of D mcki who played offense last year they love his versatility he's a great person great human being but I right now he's probably at best fifth on the depth chart and again if the Cardinals opt to go outside the organization I think he and Victor dagi are the first to go I think Cameron Thomas Xavier Thomas are both the two Thomas guys are behind Dennis gard and zav Collins so then it's just like how else can they fill out that room position versatility you know that you know here's the thing if you get rid of gardak and Letta then Cameron Thomas and Xavier Thomas have to play special teams because the guys you're bringing in as pass rushers only here to do a pass rush job so that has to be taken into account I'm not naive to that but Dennis gardette can play special teams too so this position group is an interesting dynamic because it has the most opportunity in my opinion for substantial changes it could be the quarterback room of last year where it's like one day it's Colt McCoy and Clayton tun the next day it's it's Josh dobs leading charge and Mccoy's off the team I I wonder if if something like that a remake is is comping a minor remake but a remake nonetheless yeah but if if you Waiver wire pickups after cuts look at Letta and you know daki and and if you're if you're trying to kind of figure out you know who makes the team you I think from the pure pass rush standpoint I've actually liked what I've seen from Metta abut sack you know I and then obviously the versatility I kind of jokingly was asking him today because he was available you know like you know no fullback this year he's like hey don't rule that out just yet but like he's he's willing to do whatever this team asks of him and I think um you know I don't think that gives him like this incredibly large Edge but it make helps make his case well we know like ganon's a fan of these guys and there a reason there's a reason Kudos they could have been cut in a second last off season if they didn't fit you could cut Dennis gardak and Victor D mcki overnight and it wouldn't make a difference in terms of dead money or anything like that but these guys stuck around so you know I joke around on this show and I'm hard on this group that it's not an indictment of these these guys as people I just look at this pass rush group and I am just severely underwhelmed with what's remaining yeah so you're looking at look potentially castoffs from other teams to potentially fill out the back and that I'll make a prediction right now I have no sourcing on this and we're gonna work we're gonna work the phones tirelessly like we always do over the next four to five days I think Austin Ford makes a trade if it's not for a reic which that Situation's a hot mess still I think Austin trades a fifth sixth or seventh round pick for a player that's a that's maybe a cap casualty or somebody that's just falling out of favor like we saw today with Chicago and Seattle maybe not a scheme fit and they had a pass rusher to come into add to this group that otherwise would not make it to them based on waiver claims that they'd be concerned about making it to the Cardinals I will go on the record and say I I think they do something like that yeah I mean that's that's kind of more in line with what I would expect like a day three late day three pick conditional pick somebody that they like on tape but is he gonna become come in immediately and and you know get double digit sacks and be that solution I mean you can be part of the solution but not the the main you know pass rush artist sack artist that they're looking for like if if you don't think and I I can't remember the there who's their director of of pro scouting they've got College Scouts and then they've got Pro Scouts that watch everybody else if you don't think they they don't have a big board of about five to 10 guys who might be Fringe players might be guys that are not valued that they're keeping track of and keeping tabs of it's the way they found Elijah Higgins last year it's the way they found Starling Thomas last year so go out but in my opinion it can't be a young player like that you need somebody of note experience that for what ever reason has has fallen out of favor uh and it always happens there there there there could be an option for the Cardinals I'll be disappointed and I love Austin Ford if we're sitting here Tuesday or Wednesday and they they haven't done anything I think the how many new players do you think they'll have what's that what do you think the what's the over runner on new players next week I mean last year felt like half the roster but right uh they only had the benefit of one draft class and some undrafted free agents and then they were were able to kind of go tweak a little bit they were get some guys that maybe they identified there in a draft process that they brought in um I'm gonna give you three to four position groups I think they could add to you ready okay quarterback a qb2 I think if the right veteran offensive lineman becomes available maybe a swing tackle I could I could see a offensive lineman I don't think you ever count that out a guy that oh that guy was in Tennessee oo that guy's got ties to New England let's bring him in Let's help out the Christian Jones of the world maybe he makes into the practice squad there's the other position group pass rusher and then cornerback I said this in our audio only with Craig I think if there's a veteran Corner that makes sense that's 27 28 29 so I love these young Corners outside of Shawn Murphy bunting they have no experience save for a rookie year complete roster tear down Starling Thomas and kro Clark but that that's not the experience I'm talking about I'm talking about years in the NFL multiple coordinators defensive playbooks outside of Sean like I love Garrett Williams and Max Melton they haven't played in the NFL a full season so Corner pass rusher offensive line QB so I'll go I'll go four new players I think two and a half is a good over under I you know what the bet 365 total I was gonna say three and a half what are you going with so you're going over Johnny under I'm a fun guy I want a little cash it down you're going up are you going over two and a half yes you're right at but that one but I think two and a half is a good line because I I I'm I don't know which way I'd go on that three and a half I'll say under whatever's gonna what you know how it how it goes the books they just want to get the most action chat tell is gonna get it tell us chat oh we're gonna set the line at three and a half or two and a half we'll set it at two and a half we D dog more of the I feel really confident on the over for two and a half three new players come on three so so okay so you said a corner an offensive lineman and a quarterback so Ritter's gone pass rusher and a pass rusher so R's gone Ritter's gone that's easy who you cutting from the cornerback room I would think of that group probably kro Clark okay so they see they would identify somebody off the street but they that they've been scouting yeah that they like better than somebody who's been in their system since being drafted in 2023 because they have youth now and athleticism they need maybe a little experience Starling Thomas has leapfrogged KR Clark and here's another Factor kro Clark missed time this training camp Shawn Murphy Bunty has missed time Garrett Williams missed time last year because of injury Max Melton's missed time they've all missed time and if you're G to just put the hierarchy in place Clark to me and I I like I'm not rooting for him not to make the team I just feel like if there's a veteran it have to be the right veteran though yeah it was six last year but they were able to go out and put brand new players they were weeding out the old players and there was space for them now with the infusion of you know they had 13 first year players on their roster at the end of the season last year yeah and then they added 15 players between the 12 draft picks and then three undrafted guys that they brought in I mean that's close to to 30 roster spots that that they that they like those guys that that they they brought in on their own so are they going to like guys that they potentially missed out probably at the back end of the draft or undrafted guys that couldn't find roster spots on other teams I just think it's a little bit more of a competitive roster I think so too that's why I set the the over under where I did because six last year with a Bare Bones XFL roster I think half of that makes sense to right bring a six round pick you were limited to to what was it nine draft picks last year it's like well here's adding another draft pick yeah I'm not I'm not talking about hey they're gonna cut their own to add late round picks that were with another team in the spring I'm talking about like veterans to help the team now guys that can stabilize position units that can be an extension of the coaching staff at at um specific places on the team strategically placed a qb2 behind Kyler Mar that they thought Desmond Ritter could be right got something in my eye and then u a veteran quarterback yeah I am Damon can we get a full screen graphic so I can fix my contact most to gain here ton derado Lucetta and look I think you can throw with along with Letta do mcki both beloved by this coaching staff the defensive coaches um and then you like there Mado who's been talked very highly of throughout this this training camp and obviously you love the story right and then uh you know I think ton is is one of those guys that's in the uh in the driver's seat here and you know he could he could certainly lose it I think I think you could go into Denver and play poorly enough to where you lose a little bit of your grasp and and yeah the getting tantalized by you know some outgoing quarterbacks and some other rosters could uh could force the Cardinals hand but looking at but it it doesn't you know it doesn't end there obviously and we break down you know who who we've identified as kind of bubble players with Craig and in that little exercise we did that will be available to people on YouTube tomorrow and and just players he calls his rid or dies and he says like he gets the ultimate ride or die he could pick one player this year that's going to produce from a fantasy perspective it's going to be Kyler Murray he unveiled it yesterday he said Murray is Leaps and Bounds ahead of where he was this time last year both physically mentally again he was top 10 last year on a brutal team with a significant lack of offensive weapons he would go on to say you know highlighting the fact he's got Marvin Harrison Jr that when he's healthy he's a top 10 fantasy quarterback historically and he has him as his qb5 in fantasy this year and while that may not specific Ally lead to wins B Brock you know if you could say hey I've got the number one fantasy wide receiver could be on a bad team right number one fantasy back but when you're talking about hey this quarterback is gon to give you top five production this year like wins are G to come save for like when Justin Fields was basically a running back two years ago and and the bears were not good like outside of that it's it's usually quarterback is playing top five football that team is very competitive so I think even though this is a fantasy blurb you can take two things out of it number one Matthew Barry does his homework we know he studies it for a living and he's giving advice sometimes behind a pay wall right so it's like okay I'm perking up when I hear this and number two it's for Kyler Murray this is this is his breakout year we've been predicting it this off season all this stuff about injuries and pass rush and whatever and I want to say it doesn't matter if KY Murray goes out plays top five quarterback this year then it's everything else is going to take care of itself right right yeah he's uh he says he's going top 10 he's going 10th in the ESPN leagues eighth in Yahoo yeah but he's been a top five quarterback in points per game since he entered the league in 2019 is that good averaging 20 points per game his career his entire career he was six of seven games or six of his eight games last year over 17 points so uh he's getting right into it I I found this little tidbit interesting last season he had 30% of the team's carries at the goal line so they and and that showed up early like they they really kind of uh in the red zone and closer to the goal line uh you know inside the top 10 Drew petting dialed up some design runs for Kyler Murray 30% of the carries though went to Kyler so um that's that's that's encouraging the hearing and that was coming off of his knee injury yeah and it should be noted so he did an a complete rid or die and player he always does players I love and players I hate and he did it for the entire season I used to love to love hate on spin it was great players love I would scroll down it was like a recipe like I like okay Matthew like let's get to the let's get to the let's get to Brass the goods yeah he loves Trey McBride and he loves Greg dorch um he doesn't hate any Cardinal oh and he loves James Conor so he basically loves Kyler Murray in The Supporting Cast he hates he actually hates CJ strad he's got a bunch of metrics to support that so and I think str's gonna be good but just like a a regression year of sorts so this Cardinal team like completely under the radar we know it's been disrespected no one does their homework and then a guy does his homework and it's like hey these metrics these are metrics to support Kyler Murray being good this year and Trey McBride being a top three tight end in the NFL even though ESPN said he's not a top 10 tight end and Dan Orosi said Kyler Murray is not a top 10 or top eight running quarterback in the NFL I mean just like yeah that's why in lie of these suspensions and injuries just like just start the season already yeah Kyler Murray can't start the season fast enough Dan orlovski is ripping farts on camera which provide more insight than his quarterback rushing rankings that have Joe burrow ahead of him it's just bad Joe burrow who literally can't move yeah he literally has has been injured every year in a camp move it's like yeah he's a sneaky good runner what the hell are you talking about right uh so yeah interesting nonetheless I you know that's what I was hoping we could leave the show with you know as I was you know roaming the Twitter streets yesterday breaking news too much breaking news yeah so what do you what do you make a the end of this preseason What stood out in preseason for the Arizona Cardinals like is anything stood out to you in terms of something that has made it abundantly clear that you didn't know otherwise before the preseason started before theas I think that they have an idea of who their main guys are going to be and the ones you haven't seen are those guys right I mean we haven't seen anybody that uh for an extended period of time Bei besides like a the teeniest little sample size that they're going to you know really expect Big Time snaps from this season like they they didn't see the entire starting offense Johnny the entire starting offense hasn't made a single appearance uh this entire preseason so like it's it's locked and ready to go like we talked to Yellow fold after he was extended you know earlier this week and he gave us some insight as far as the offense and like could would they have benefited from at least playing you know a series or two this preseason he's like well you're still you're still going to face the the reality of you're going to have to go out there and some things that think are going to work uh aren't going to work and some things that you thought were going to work are going to really work you have to be adaptable and and they're going in with that kind of open-mindedness but also with a game plan that I think that they're really confident and have a ton of conviction in my Takeaway on top of what you just said is the fact that I think Taylor demerson and Xavier Thomas look like real contributors for this team you know Taylor demerson was not on my radar at all this year because of the depth at safety and the fact that you know that was a that was a day three pick it was early and give the kid credit he he's forced the issue now and he's on everybody's radar now including the highest graded day3 player from the draft according to PFF and then you know could Xavier Thomas make it a hattick this weekend three sacks and three games we will find out how about a hatrick of super chats left Fishbowl flash five doar with the lack of off season moves trades free agents lack of proven talent and uh injuries on defense does anyone feel a 4 and13 season upcoming hashtank Tuesdays here's why I don't think that because of the quarterback play um the the the roster can be flawed it can have holes here and there that's the NFL rarely do you get a team like the Niners that you know seemingly have all Pros everywhere Kyler Murray came back and carried this team to what should have been a 500 record with a far worse roster with a tougher schedule in my opinion so as long as we're not open in the show knock on wood talking about one not available they got a sh out every Sunday Fishbowl flash if you believe in Kyler Murray which we happen to yeah and look I mean we saw this this defense this defense has uh improved its Personnel from last season and last season that they did show not enough not enough consistently but did show flashes of an ability to either a force the turnover or or B you know get off the field and force a punt um and I think that you'll continue to see that like they're well coached I I think they've got you know uh some really really uh incredible defensive Minds including Jonathan Ganon who was the DC for the Eagles team that had over 70 sacks 17 picks in that run of the Super Bowl so they're they're well coach they're young uh there's no proven Commodities in there and yeah they're they're down one of their their biggest you know somebody they were going to rely upon but you know with that like I also think know that they they know what their identity is they know where their strength is and I think it's on the offensive side of the football and that can help all different areas of your team and if they can you know uh Kyler Murray and that offense can go out and hold sustained drives and get points that puts pressure on opposing offenses to where maybe you know an underman defense could could get off the field because of of a team pressing to to keep Pace with Kyler Murray in this offense everybody do do us a probably a big reason why they signed Z Jones but I also think physically he's probably never been in a better spot than he is right now you would hope so yeah when you look at his injuries and there there were a bunch of him in college but for the most part breakes right wasn't a collar bone yep um you know it wasn't anything really to do with any of the ligaments last year shoulder the neck uh he's going into basically he didn't have off season last year he went from playing at Stanford trying to work his way back to get ready for the Senior Bowl to the pre-draft process the combine to rookie mini camp OTAs to the training camp to pre-season to and that you know we talk about the rookie wall and and you know I'm sure he was susceptible to that you know he he but at the end of the
