do [Music] for those of y'all tuning in this is five star safety Jonah Williams's commitment ceremony supposed to start getting underway at about 6:30 p.m. central Time here in Galveston they got five finalists LSU Texas USC Texas A&M and Oregon all the hats are on the table trying to hold my hand steady so the phone's not shaking too bad looks like we're going to get underway here relatively soon Williams first I'd like to introduce School District Dr [Applause] mat what coach said thank you for being here Jonah I forgot to wear a hat tonight I didn't know which one to wear but I'm thinking you may have a few extra when you're finished this is just a great opportunity for Joan and his family any of you have had a student go to college you know how stressful and difficult of a decision it is so we can only imagine this process and what it's been like for you and your family to have a nationwide options um but we are very proud of how you've handled yourself proud of the way you've represented your family in the island you're about to be another and a long line very proud of all high graduates who's taking this next step in their career [Applause] [Music] always [Applause] [Music] is thank y'all when I was uh luckyy enough to come down to gal and uh to start working we had a really talented center fielder named Nick Williams hi Nick he was and he he was really 4 years old it was so nice he would come back and say hey I'm really sick and uh it always made me liking anytime I saw Seth and Jonah at the baseball field they brought a smile they brought a smile through our face everybody made everybody happy even though they would hit a tennis ball on the field you have to call time out and and throw the tennis ball back but Jonah we're looking forward to this decision these people don't want to hear me talk anymore so uh good luck to you but before I hand it on to coach hey let's give a round of applause for Billy and Annie maybe the two [Applause] best thank you uh when I got here in 2020 I first met Jonah he was uh eating naos and candy on the sidelines being ball Boys in eighth grade while Seth as a quarterback I'm chasing them around trying to figure out where the balls are for the next play so I've had the pleasure of watching him grow up and mature and the ultimate pleasure of getting to coach him as a freshman on varsity and mature into the player he is today so it's been a pleasure for me and John I know you're going to make make a great decision got a bunch of find choices right there find schools I know for me it's going to be a pleasure to be able to watch him not only here called the hurricanes and that's where all my sons came up and played before they got to high school middle school and I'm going to let his speak briefly of all I'd like to congratulate Jonah and his family wonderful family exed family and just as well as myself you know this family has done a lot for this community you know our first observe when he was a kid Nick brother was playing with my my my young son playing basketball stand and he wouldn't sit still he was all over the place now always remember mother CH all over the place something was a was a joy U he just do anything and uh one of the coaches that came I told I said he's be the first [Applause] will thank you all very much you know me my family we thank God for everything and bless his name me and my family are very appreciative to all who have attended this event this evening we are happy and appreciative to pastor G independent school district boardr teachers coaches who have all play from Jonah's Journey as far the tough love you have given him along with the education is second to N I do see some of his teachers out there and we have some of his trainers over here too Donnie bags and Mr Robinson Brandon Robinson we thank the universities most of all and the staffs that showed in interest in Jonah and the awesome Hospitality when we're there as most of you are aware we are very proud of Jonah as we are of all our sons Jonah has performed well the must in our house you must thank God every day and you must help your neighbor we are very thankful for the journey so far more so than the result now I see what made very decision and told want to go back to G and play with his friends in front of his community whether than go to the prestigious [Music] one of the two [Music] hang felt like forever before he would take his first breath you know I just looked up to God and I said hey your will be done and for years he didn't talk and heed son every day say does he why does he look funny when he go out you know for all of those who think Jonah woke up one day and started cing and running touchdowns that didn't happen it took time and work and these coaches back here along with his High School coaches who spent time to help Jonah get where he is you know I do remember soly when I would go out in the fields with my older Sons and we would be out half day I will walk in the house and see two little boys carrying plastic gloves a b and a football basketball first we get some balls then youch to us theball be there say getall very proud ofon look forward to this next challenge now please give your attention to the scoreboard looks like they're showing highlights here as the announ [Music] not a huge shot you takp but what what that feel like to kind of have that validation people seeing you do your work uh just blessed uh being able to god-given talent to come show on the field and I did just that and won a defensive back now there is a new apex predator in high school football over the past couple of years we have seen some of the most talented come out of high school in a immediately make an impact for their college team and number one country as3 Jonah William is one of the Premier in the country for2 usually when thinking a guy just going to go out there andely everybody on the FI I wasn't exp to AED is spe Are you seriously tell right C [Music] USC finist Road Friday night up wide receiver and punt returner on the next level projects Elite safy the ability to make an impact early in his career that's why easy to see why J Williams is so coved let take a look at [Music] these jonahs there looking [Applause] yeah um just the relationship and the bonds I created on my visits to these schools and that just made my my decision uh yes sir thank you I just want to thank God for giving me the blessings each and every day with the ability to play the sports I love I want to give a big thanks to all the coaches who consider me to be a part of their program also thanks to my parents for doing everything they can to help me achieve my dream my dreams and aspirations a a huge shout out to all the friends and family that made this event everyone who plays a game of football tries to make their unique imprint on the culture and we can make a difference in the community that's a powerful force to be and with that
