Ray O'Flaherty says Intermediate championship has several football strongholds

Intro ray the uh lyric intermediate championship i've said it before to anybody who's been here that uh a seriously tough competition to get out of oh definitely yeah you know especially the last couple of years now last three years lecturing off before over the years it might have been just one or two teams like which is fierce competitive now like you know you look at the two groups like in you know you've great teams there like george griffins have been knocking on the door there the last few years i can you've drawn a wreck heel from broad for like no big strong house names like but uh yeah it is definitely one to it'll be a hard one to beat it to win like tonight with the amount of competition around the two groups i suppose look we mentioned the the group Stone Throw derby earlier and uh uh very very juicy local tie with neighbors that are only a few uh kilometers or miles back to road in england so that promises to be uh quite a derby oh definitely yeah that's for sure yeah it'll be yeah when you say it's stone's throw like so yeah actually we'll be looking forward to that obviously like as a fixture like you know you you can't beat local derbies like that like no and glenn dogley have always produced good football teams over the years i can they're a very very tough team to meet like you know and and try to get over the line against them like but um yeah we'll be really we'll be really looking forward to that when the draw was made that was that was one really definitely stood out quite quite a lot of George Griffins derby involvement in this competition along that n69 when you look at uh from fines george reference and glenn yeah there is definitely yeah yeah to be big bragging rights i don't know if any of the three teams there came out to win it like you know but um sure look that's the beauty of it like you know you look forward to playing games like that like you know like as i said ourselves in george griffins as well only over the road like and there's been with her one club over the years like there's been big rivalries going back to the eighties there and nineties and stuff like you know so definitely george griffins they could be will be one would we'd love to relish as well in championship as well like you know and New format look uh this new format and this new i suppose that going back to the to the pre-covered format with this competition where you have those extra games home partners that for a club i suppose who's you know trying to rebound from coming down from senior a few years ago and is trying to get games into younger members of the panel and at the same time not the pressure it was on last year or if you lost your first game you really were under the pump how different is that oh yeah it's great like you know because like you're going back now you five competitive games like and as you said there's like whereas the last two years with the groups the tree you lose your first game like you're you're under pressure straight away like you know whereas look you don't want to be losing in your games like but it's great now like to have back to the old format and especially as well where they're played off for virgin or space of six weeks like so you've games week in week out like it's great like i suppose on the negative side of it if you generally had a few injuries and stuff i suppose you know it's hard to recover leads there like from with the games coming to confess but no definitely i think every player loves it like tonight the more games you have like in playing in the summer and stuff and everything like you know it's definitely when we as players we definitely prefer like to know more games the better i suppose look there Injury prevention obviously with how like you said there when you go five weeks on the bounce important to put down the foundations of that pre-season work now so that you can kind of play a recovery train play recover train when when when the competition starts off oh yeah definitely like you know and as you say like with injury like you know a massive part of the game now today is like you know the condition of players like you know and that goes a long way like you know like we kind of introduced ourselves this year as a club like to know with a lot of gym work there we did in the months of january and february later on it's it's more so kind of injury prevention as well like you know and you know let's you know you need to look after yourself off the field too like you know and that'll stand you like when games like that come to confess like you know you need to be in the best shape you can be for that like or else you know you'll you'll pull up with niggles or injuries like that like so no it's it's definitely a massive part of the game today especially the last couple years you'll see clubs are investing in gym equipment now and stuff and everything in light and all this plus so it's definitely a big part to do a game today i suppose look uh Split season looking forward to starting a club championship mid-summer this kind of weather as a club player do you relish that knowing that you'll be finished in that hopefully in the summertime as well rather than starting in september and walking and mocking around in mid-october well we hope we'll hop we'll be there and mid october anyway i'd like to know if you're there with october you know you're in the business end of it like but yeah i definitely like to know i think to split season definitely benefits club players like massively like you know you want to be playing and great weather like disliked you know on saturday evening games like in general so it's no it's great all right like you know it's it's definitely a way better format compared to the old farm at a good few years ago you'd have the first two rounds in march in april and you had that treatment break like you know i was kind of you know it kind of killed teams that had a bit of momentum like schnauzer and that's what it is too like you know the team that'll gather the most momentum game after
